The Good Sister

Rate this book
When her mirror twin goes missing, Casey is led to a deadly paradise where no one escapes…

Casey and Nora are mirror twins, identical—sort of. Casey is right-handed, Nora is left-handed. Their moles sit on opposite cheeks. In terms of personality, they are also diametrically opposed.

So, when her high-strung sister disappears after a fight with her husband, Casey shouldn’t be as concerned as she is. Nora’s done it before.

But this time, things feel different. It’s a twin thing; Casey knows it in her bones. Something is terribly wrong.

Casey hires private investigator who discovers that Nora’s been on the dark web—lured by an entity that calls itself Switzerland, promising to take away your pain and leave you in a state of eternal bliss, for a hefty fee.

The trail leads to a luxury wellness retreat hidden in the Mexican jungle. Determined to find her sister before it’s too late, Casey poses as a resort guest and heads to Mexico to rescue her sister.

As Casey digs deeper, she finds something far more sinister than she could have imagined, and it’s possible that neither of them will get out alive.

My latest release is a little different from my other books. It's high concept, darker and more thought-provoking. A thriller about mirror twins who are bonded in ways that few of us understand. When high-strung Nora disappears to a mysterious wellness facility, Casey feels that something is not right. Nora's had issues in the past, and she and her husband have been having problems. Casey sets out to find her, and what she discovers is a dangerous and deceptive paradise from which they might never return.

With this book, I wanted to explore concepts of death, the twin bond, and family dynamics, inside what is essentially a domestic thriller plot. It was an emotional rollercoaster to write, and I hope you enjoy it.

Casey and Nora are mirror twins, one left handed the other right. Their moles sit on opposite cheeks and their personalities couldn’t be more different! So when Nora goes missing, Casey feels it in her bones that this time is different and something is wrong.
Casey hires a private investigator who uncovers a trail on the dark web leading to a luxury retreat hidden in the Mexican jungle. Now Casey must pose as a guest in order to find Nora before it’s too late for both of them.

🎧Megan Tusing and Shelley Reece narrate between Casey and Nora which was helpful to distinguish between the two women. Both did a wonderful job with their characters.

The dynamic of twins and their bonds is truly fascinating. It was really interesting to read what was going to happen especially when Casey got down to the retreat. My anxiety was heightened with every second that passed and even before she left for the retreat wondering if anyone was going to help her. This psychological thriller was an easy listen being intriguing and well paced.

Thank you to the author, Bonnie Traymore, Publisher Podium Entertainment and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book. I received a gifted copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

What a thriller. Seriously. Mirror twins who could sense and feel each other's pain and emotions. Just imagine where that could take you.

Of course, their personalities and chemical imbalances are not twinned.

Nora has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. and is a troublesome soul. Casey tries to fix Noras problems and is a paramedic as well. Somehow Nora manages a somewhat stable marriage to Ty, but all is not what it seems. When Nora runs away, disappearing into the Mexican Riveriera, Casey follows her.

The book is full of plot twists. It was definitely one of those that's hard to put down. However, it got a little convoluted at times as the storyline bounced back and forth between Nora's memories of her past and Casey's memories of Nora's past from her perspective. The font changes for those memories weren't enough to help understand what I was reading sometimes.

All in all, a really good book. The thing about thrillers, they take you through twisting, scary tales. The bad part? The endings aren't what we want them to be.

Thank you to Bonnie Traymore and NegGalley for the early copy of this ebook.

The concept of mirror twins is not something I had ever heard of before, which was a an interesting idea in the story. The author makes a lot of points regarding mental health and suicidal ideations that are very important and accurate. In this regard, I recognized myself a lot in Nora regarding those desperate feelings. I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor by the ending, definitely not what I was expecting. The vernacular the characters use feels very modern and juvenile at times and might not hold up long term but the story was great.
Good read.

BLURB: Casey’s world is upended when her twin sister Nora disappears. Determined to find her, she hires a PI and uncovers a dangerous web of deception, manipulation, and hidden secrets surrounding the resort where Nora vanished.

REVIEW:
This is my first book from Bonnie Traymore, and I had so much fun reading it. It’s told through a dual POV between mirror twin sisters who are COMPLETE opposites, and it doesn’t take long before you know who the “good” sister is. The story is fast-paced with suspenseful scenes throughout, and the writing style lands somewhere between Freida McFadden and (more intricate writing) David Ellis—perfect for a weekend read!

The story alternates between the first-person POVs of twins Casey and Nora, giving you an immediate glimpse into how different they are. They’re mirror twins with a psychological bond that factors in during a few key scenes. Like many thrillers, it opens with a high-stakes prologue of a tense moment later in the book before backtracking to the start when Nora first disappeared. I loved following Casey as she took the initiative to investigate—first going to the police and then hiring a no-nonsense PI to help her piece things together. Her impulsive, risk-taking nature drives much of the plot and kept me fully engaged. From the moment she decides to travel to Mexico (against warnings) to search for her sister herself, the story gets more intense, introducing several suspicious characters, red herrings, and unexpected surprises!

This isn’t a long read at 300 pages (🎧 under 7 hours), and with short chapters that often end in cliffhangers, you can finish it in one day. You really have to suspend your disbelief at some of Nora’s choices, as they don’t always make sense. She’s emotionally unstable and an unreliable narrator, almost like a soap opera character at times. There were multiple times when I thought the story was wrapping up, only for it to push forward again with new turns and twists that made it even more enjoyable and unique. The ending is drawn out (in a satisfying way), bittersweet, and made me a bit angry—but it makes the book a great option for a buddy read to discuss afterward!

I really enjoyed this book. At its heart, it's a psychological thriller, but it's also a fascinating exploration of the bond between twins and how two people who are genetically so alike can become so different.
Nora has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD), a condition that is often associated with trauma, and I found myself constantly thinking about the role of nature versus nurture throughout the story. There are several moments that highlight the differences in how the twins are parented, particularly as their mother struggles with her own grief and mental health. It raised some really interesting questions about how much our experiences shape who we become.
Casey is introduced as the dependable, "good" sister, but it quickly becomes clear that she isn't as straightforward as that label suggests. Early on, she even acknowledges that she doesn't particularly want to search for Nora—she simply feels it's what's expected of her. Meanwhile, Nora, who is often viewed as the "bad" sister, demonstrates a resilience and strength that challenges those assumptions. I loved that the book refused to paint either sister in purely black-and-white terms. Both women are flawed, complex, and deeply human.
The story is easy to follow and moves at a steady pace, allowing the focus to remain on the characters and their relationships rather than trying to outsmart the reader. While I found the overall direction of the plot fairly predictable, that didn't lessen my enjoyment. The emotional impact of the ending caught me off guard, and it was far sadder than I had anticipated. It left me thinking about the story long after I'd finished.
What has stayed with me most, though, is the question of whether things could have turned out differently if, from the very beginning, Casey and Nora had been treated as individuals rather than constantly being compared, and if they had both been shown the love and support they deserved as children. It's impossible to know, but it's a thought-provoking question that the book leaves lingering long after the final page.
Overall, this was an engaging psychological thriller with compelling characters and thought-provoking themes. I'd definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy stories that explore family dynamics, the complexities of mental health, and the lasting impact of childhood experiences.

Firstly thank you Podium Entertainment for this ALC!

I have always heard about the connection twins could have with each other, and Nora and Casey definitely have a unique connection. Nora goes missing and Casey can feel something is wrong. We go through a whirlwind of speculations of where Nora was and why she was there. All while, Casey is determined to do whatever it takes to bring her sister home.

I enjoyed the special bond between the twins. We go through plot twists and unbreakable family bonds. This was fast paced read making me stay locked in while listening.

Bonnie Traymore’s The Good Sister was an excellent read from beginning to end. The wellness retreat setting and the unique and engaging story about mirror twins immediately drew me in. It unfolds at just the right pace, with intriguing twists and plenty of suspense that kept me guessing until the very end.

I listened to the audiobook while on my own summer health retreat, and it was the perfect companion. If you enjoy psychological suspense with an original twist and characters that stay with you, The Good Sister is definitely worth picking up.

4.5 stars!

I really enjoy this author's work, and I nearly missed out on this book because the cover didn’t initially catch my eye. However, while I was writing a review for a new release, I spotted this one on NetGalley and couldn’t resist snatching it up!

The story unfolds through dual timelines from the perspectives of Nora and Casey, making for a fast-paced and engaging read. As twins, Nora and Casey showcase distinctly different personalities, just like any twins I know. The only thing they share is their physical appearance; however, they are mirror twins, each possessing easily recognizable traits. What does that mean? You’ll have to read the book to find out!

Nora goes missing after a misunderstanding with her husband, and Casey quickly realizes that this is not the typical “I’ll disappear and return to my life” scenario. I love how stories like this urge you not to ignore your instincts and to keep exploring, because something feels off. I tend to trust my gut, hoping it will save my life one day. To uncover the truth behind Nora’s disappearance, Casey hires a private investigator. The dual POV is executed brilliantly; gaining insight into Nora’s mind fills in the gaps and deepens our understanding of the narrative. These two could not be more different, yet their story culminates in an unexpected and gripping conclusion. There were several twists I didn’t see coming that left me in a “wait, what?” moment!

As I mentioned, I have a strong appreciation for this author, and while this book may have a smaller audience, it is undeniably a suspenseful and hard-to-put-down read. I’ve tackled a few thrillers about twins this year, but this one truly stood out and quickly became one of my favorites. I could feel the emotions and dread pouring off the pages as I immersed myself in it. The retreat setting was beautifully described, making me feel as if I was right there, getting a massage alongside Casey while strategizing how to help Nora. The facility's seclusion and atmosphere added an eerie vibe that kept me wanting to know more.

This book is perfect for anyone who loves the complexity of twin personalities, enjoys secluded mystery thrillers with elements of illegal human testing, or simply likes to play detective and piece together an unexpected ending that might bring tears to your eyes. Themes of mental health, abandonment, and hidden childhood trauma are subtly woven throughout. Overall, don’t sleep on this one! This author has yet another fantastic read on the way!

Thank you, DP Books and NetGalley, for the DRC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Good Sister follows Nora and Casey, who are "mirror twins." I'll be honest, that term I'd actually never heard before picking up this book! While they are mirror twins, they're complete opposites. Casey is the dependable, level-headed sister, while Nora has always been a little more troubled, making their relationship complicated. When Casey can't get in touch with Nora, she immediately senses something is wrong. As she starts searching for answers, the more she uncovers, the more suspicious everything becomes. What follows is a twisty thriller filled with family secrets, deception, and plenty of tension.

I really liked that the story was told from both sisters' perspectives. Seeing the same situation unfold from two very different viewpoints kept me invested, and I found myself constantly wondering what had really happened. The short chapters made this one incredibly easy to binge, and there were a few twists that genuinely caught me off guard.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Megan Tusing and Shelley Reece, and I thought they both did a fantastic job bringing the sisters' voices to life.

My only real complaint was that I never fully connected with the characters, and a few moments felt a little rushed, so I wasn't quite as emotionally invested as I wanted to be. I also found myself wishing the story had wrapped up just a little sooner. That being said, the ending completely blindsided me. No spoilers here, but the final reveal reframed so much of what came before and left me looking back at the story in a completely different light. I may have to give this one a re-listen.

The Good Sister was my first Bonnie Traymore book, and based on this experience alone, I will definitely look for more of her books in the future. It was a solid thriller with enough surprises to keep me guessing, and an engaging sister dynamic at its core. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fast, suspenseful read with an ending you'll still be thinking about after you finish.

What a fun thriller! Casey sounds the alarm bell when her twin sister Nora goes missing. Not satisfied with the pace the police are going at, she hires an investigator to assist her. This leads to the dark web, and eventually a questionable institution.

With short chapters and dual POVs the story moves at a quick and steady pace. The story leans into their relationship and twin connection, Nora’s mental health, the struggles she’s faced, and their different versions of their childhood. I liked how the plot accelerated keeping the energy up.

I enjoyed both narrators . I think they portrayed their characters well. The concept for the story is so good, I was honestly stunned at the end. I’m torn though between how it finally ended and wishing that it had ended earlier. Either ending leaves the story with a different vibe.

Check this one out, for sure. It’s a quick, suspenseful listen!

The concept of this story was brilliant and terrifying. I dread to think what takes place on the dark web but this seems totally plausible and heartbreaking.

Casey and Nora are mirror twins, which is something I hadn’t heard of and enjoyed how this was incorporated into the plot. Their personalities are polar opposites and I really felt for Casey, her story was heart breaking; she would literally die for her sister but would Nora do the same for her? The sibling rivalry was so well written, and it was extremely relatable. As was the carer burnout and how Nora’s mental health problems affected the whole family.

I loved the twists and turns in this story. I thought it was so well written and was definitely shocked several times. It sucked me in from the start and kept my attention throughout.

Overall, this was 4.5⭐️ for me and I recommend it to fans of psychological thrillers.

Well this was a wild ride from start to finish and I really enjoyed it, to the extent that I finished it in one day.

The concept of mirror twins is not something that I was familiar with beforehand but it definitely provided an intriguing hook for the narrative. The author really tapped into the deep, almost otherworldly, connection that twins seem to have.

The pov jumps between the two sisters as they find themselves in very different situations which pose their own separate challenges. It did at times get slightly confusing when flashbacks overlapped but it was only occasionally and things were easy enough to follow for the most part.

I thought the pacing was spot on, with the story accelerating and slowing down at appropriate points to reflect the story.

The author dealt really well with the topic of mental health, something which there are understandably a lot of sensitivities around.

I was worried towards the end that the book was drifitng towards an underwhelming conclusion but that couldn't have been further from the truth. I found the ending to be very satisfying

This has definitely made me want to explore Bonnie Traymore's work. If her other books are half as good as this one, I have found another favourite author.

This psychological thriller digs into mirror twins and how their emotions are comingled. Nora and Casey have very different personalities, and the author does an excellent job with character development.

Nora's escape to a strange wellness center in Mexico, and Casey follows her. I don't want to give anything away, as this one needs to be experienced for yourself.

It's really well done with pacing and plot twists that had me completely immersed. This is my favorite book by this author (so far) @bonnietraymore -and I encourage all thriller lovers to check this one out!

Absolutely brilliant, I loved how the book went between Casey and Nora and their point of view of the situations they were in. The story was great and covered what its like to be a twin but without taking anything from the story. I do think a trigger warning should be at the start (I may have missed it) as the book does have assisted dying at the heart of it. All in all it was a good read and you wont be disappointed

A good chase.
This thriller keeps you guessing and chasing answers. Nora and Casey are so different but have an undeniable connection. Chapters were a bit open-ended and kept you intrigued, needing to read on to see what happened. It wasn’t an overly long listen, which helped me want to finish it faster. I wanted to know what was going on. There were some twists that I didn’t see coming. Overall, a good, thrilling read.

My rating is 3.5 but happy to round up.

I received this free advance reading copy via Netgalley. Thank you to Bonnie Traymore and dp Books. This review is being left voluntarily and the opinions are my own.

On paper this premise is a hooker - mirror twins, identical in looks but poles apart in personality and temperament. What really intrigued me was that they are connected on a deeper level than most of us can truly understand, feeling what the other feels or sensing when the other is in trouble.

This book deals with themes of mental health and death and allowing us to see things through the lens of each twin offered a truly thought-provoking angle.

The pov jumps between the twins. I'm not gonna lie, it tied me up in a knot at times as I confused myself as to who was who!

I found the pacing off at times. It felt more slow burn to begin with, then picked up and there was a bit more tension and suspense towards the end. That ending shocked me for sure but I'm still not sure if I want to accept it.

Overall it was grest read and I will definitely sample more of Bonnie's work in the future.

ALC Review

What a CRAZY ride! This was definitely outside the genre I usually read, and I'm SO glad I took the leap. It was packed with twists, turns, intrigue, and the terrifying and mysterious complexities of mental health.
Casey and Nora's POVs were handled flawlessly. There were a few moments where I had to restart a section because I got a little mixed up with the flashbacks, but that didn't take away from the overall experience. The complex sibling relationship and tension between Casey and Nora were palpable. It was captured so well through both the writing and the narration.
This book has officially opened the door to psychological thrillers for me, and I'm excited to explore more of the genre!

Gripping read

This was a great read, it started slow and then got faster in pace, it was thrilling and intense all the way through.
It captures the bond that twins share with great intensity.
The sistetly rivalary was relateable and true to life. The shifting of the story from sister to sister kept the book captivating all through. But the flashbacks at times got a little confusing.
Thebook references mental health and grief and how different people deal with these.
The ending was unexpected.
I recommend this to fans of pyschological thrillers.

The Good Sister by Bonnie Traymore is a gripping and emotionally charged thriller that explores the complex bond between twins. The dynamic between them is at the heart of the story, portrayed with depth and intensity, making their relationship both fascinating and unsettling at times. Traymore does an excellent job of depicting personal relationships in a realistic and compelling way, drawing the reader into the emotional struggles of the characters.
The novel is filled with action and strong, believable figures whose motivations feel authentic. It also touches on darker themes, including mental health and suicidal thoughts, which add a serious and thought-provoking layer to the plot.
However, despite the compelling build-up, the ending is somewhat disappointing compared to the rest of the book. It leaves open questions and feels slightly unclear, which takes away from an otherwise powerful story.

Loved the idea of mirror twins. Not come across this often so it was engaging. The author did great describing and capturing the intense connections that some can share.

The story shifts between the two sisters, each facing unique challenges in their own circumstances. While there were moments when flashbacks mingled together it was still easy to follow and great to read about.

I felt the pacing was just right, with the story speeding up and slowing down perfectly to match the plot's flow. It never felt rushed and not too slow that it became boring. The author did a great job.

The author tackled the topic of mental health thoughtfully, especially considering how sensitive this subject can be. Overall, it was handled with care.

It was my first read from this author and i was thoroughly impressed.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a tense, atmospheric thriller that blends psychological suspense with cult-like horror and sisterly drama in a way that kept me hooked from the very beginning. While it doesn’t reinvent the genre entirely, it delivers a gripping, fast-paced story filled with paranoia, deception, and escalating danger that makes it incredibly difficult to put down.

The strongest aspect of the novel is undoubtedly the relationship between Casey and Nora. The “mirror twin” concept adds an extra layer of intrigue right from the start, and Traymore does a great job exploring the complicated emotional dynamic between sisters who are physically alike but emotionally worlds apart. Casey’s determination to find Nora feels believable and heartfelt, especially because their bond is layered with frustration, resentment, protectiveness, and guilt. Even when Nora is absent for much of the story, her presence looms over every chapter.

The mystery surrounding Switzerland and the sinister wellness retreat is where the novel really shines. The idea of vulnerable people being lured through the dark web by promises of peace and healing is chilling because it feels disturbingly plausible. Once the story moves to the isolated Mexican jungle resort, the atmosphere becomes claustrophobic and deeply unsettling. Traymore leans heavily into themes of manipulation, identity, trauma, and exploitation, and the retreat itself feels like a character—beautiful on the surface but rotten underneath.

The pacing is another major strength. The chapters are short and sharp, constantly ending on revelations or moments of tension that push the story forward. I flew through the second half because every answer uncovered another disturbing secret. There are enough twists to keep thriller fans satisfied, though a few are more predictable than shocking. Still, the suspense remains strong throughout, especially as Casey realizes how dangerous the situation truly is.

Casey is a solid protagonist, even if she occasionally makes decisions that require some suspension of disbelief. Her persistence and emotional vulnerability make her easy to root for, and her fear feels authentic once she becomes trapped in the retreat’s web of control. Some secondary characters could have been developed more deeply, particularly those within the organization itself, but they still serve the story effectively.

The reason this lands at four stars rather than five is because certain plot elements become a bit over-the-top toward the climax, and some twists rely more on thriller convention than genuine surprise. There are also moments where the dialogue feels slightly repetitive, particularly when explaining the twins’ differences or the retreat’s philosophy. However, none of these issues significantly lessen the overall enjoyment.

Fans of psychological thrillers involving cults, hidden organizations, dark wellness movements, and family secrets will find a lot to enjoy here. It has shades of modern suspense novels that explore the dangers of toxic self-help culture while maintaining the addictive momentum of a classic missing-person thriller.

Ms. Traymore writes interesting and intriguing stories that are hard to put down. There is always more to her stories with immersing twists. Source: BookSprout.

THE GOOD SISTER - Interesting. Immersing. Well written. Good characters and some evil ones, too. Glad the author is writing better stories again. Source: NetGalley. 4*

THE VALET, eBook - For some reason I'm not too excited about this book although I like other books by the author. I didn't care too much about most of the characters, except for Uncle Mel. The story lines were okay but I cannot say interesting enough to me. Source: NetGalley 3*

THE VALET, Audiobook - Narration by Robb Moreira improved the story somewhat. He did a good job with the characters and their emotions. He rates a four, but the story is still a three. Source: My Audible library. 3*

THE RICH GUY’S WIFE - Interesting but a bit of a slow pace with good characters and interesting story lines. The last few chapters seemed rushed and too quick, not Ms. Traymore's best work. 3*

SWIPE - Interesting story lines full of twists and messed up characters made for an intriguing read. Well written but the scene in S's apartment was a bit off. 4*

THE HUDSON VALLEY SERIES:
STARK JUSTICE - A short but interesting addition to the Hudson Valley series. Set in Honolulu, concerning a third-year old cold case that has Jack returning, as a retired detective, hoping to solve a case from his youth. Well written. 4*

KILLER MOTIVES, #1 - One of those books that must be finished before putting it down. Interesting story lines with a variety of characters with secrets, and then some. Good pacing kept the pages flying with no vulgar language or sex but plenty of intrigue and happenings. Well written. 4*

LITTLE LOOSE ENDS, #2 - Continues about seven months after Killer Motives ends. Their past catches up with the Mancusios. There are plenty of twists, players and intrigue as they fight for their family's safety. Well written story lines made this another hard to put down book. 4*
THE HUDSON VALLEY SERIES.

THE UNFORGETTING - Probably one of Ms. Traymore's better written books, although it needs better editing, too much repetition. Interesting. Intriguing. Plenty of distractions. Good characters and story lines. 4*

A LITTLE GETAWAY - Great characters. Some unpredictable kinks. Rare profanity, one F-word, and no spicy sex, yes, they have sex but the reader is not invited, so no boring sex scenes. Cannot put the book down until finished. 5*

THE BLUFF - Interesting with a couple of unexpected twists and a fun ending. Good characters and story lines. 4*

THE GUEST HOUSE - Another entertaining, interesting, and intriguing story filled with good characters and immersing story lines that are believable making the book hard to put down. TGH picks up after The Stepfamily ends. There is a lot of easy to understand technical information about hearing aids devices for the D/deaf population as well as the difficulties with communication faced by the D/deaf. 4*

THE STEPFAMILY - Definitely one of the better books I have read lately. Interesting with good story lines. Every time there appears to be an end, there's more and a different story to add to the mess. Many secrets come to light and not all are favorable. Only thing I did not care for was the nose scratching at the end. The scratcher was smarter than that but that story line needed closing, poorly done. 4*

The Good Sister by Bonnie Traymore 👯‍♀️🖤🌴🔪🎧📖

The Good Sister by Bonnie Traymore 👯‍♀️🖤🌴🔪🎧📖 ~~** I read this on Kindle and listened on Audible, and this one definitely kept me wondering what in the world was really going on! 😳 Casey and Nora are mirror twins who may look almost identical, but their personalities couldn’t be more different. When Nora suddenly disappears, Casey knows something isn’t right. Everyone else may think Nora is just being Nora, but Casey can feel that this time is different. That twin connection between them was one of the things I found most interesting about the story. 👯‍♀️❤️

Casey’s search for Nora takes her from a private investigator to the dark web 💻 and eventually to a mysterious luxury wellness retreat hidden in the Mexican jungle 🌴. What sounds like paradise quickly starts feeling anything but peaceful. The deeper Casey digs, the stranger and more disturbing everything becomes, and I kept questioning who could actually be trusted. 😬

I also liked that the story gives us both Casey and Nora’s perspectives because these two sisters see their relationship and their past VERY differently. There is love between them, but there is also resentment, guilt, jealousy, hurt, and years of complicated family history. It made me question whether there really was a “good sister” at all. 🤔

The psychological side of this story was dark, and there were definitely some moments that made me uncomfortable—which is exactly what I want from this kind of thriller. 😂 The story deals with some heavy subjects involving mental health, grief, family relationships, and how badly people can want an escape from emotional pain. The wellness retreat and the mysterious “Switzerland” added another creepy layer because you know something is wrong long before you understand exactly how wrong it is. 😳🖤

And that ENDING!! 😱 I am not giving anything away, but Bonnie Traymore got me. Just when I thought I understood where everything was going, there was more waiting for me. This is definitely one of those books where you finish and start thinking back over everything you just read. 👀

🎧 The Audible narration by Megan Tusing and Shelley Reece was excellent. Having two narrators worked perfectly for Casey and Nora because it helped give each sister her own identity and personality, especially with the story moving between their perspectives. Their performances added emotion and tension and made the suspense even better. 🎧👏

If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complicated family relationships, missing-person mysteries, dark secrets, creepy retreats, and twists that keep changing what you think you know, this was a really good Kindle/Audible combination. 👯‍♀️🌴🖤📖🎧

The Good Sister is a sleek, unsettling psychological thriller that leans into the eerie intimacy of twinhood and the lengths we go to for the people we can’t stop loving, even when everything between us has fractured. Casey and Nora are mirror twins in every sense — alike, opposite, and forever bound — and that connection hums beneath every page. When Nora disappears after a fight with her husband, Casey feels the wrongness of it in her bones, and that instinct becomes the novel’s driving pulse.

What begins as a missing‑person search quickly spirals into something darker when Casey learns Nora has been drawn into the shadowy promises of an online entity called Switzerland — a place that claims it can erase pain and deliver bliss, for a price. The trail leads Casey deep into the Mexican jungle, to a luxury wellness retreat that feels serene on the surface but thrums with menace underneath. The tension builds beautifully as Casey goes undercover, peeling back layers of charm and control to uncover what really happens behind those polished doors.

The heart of the story lies in the sisters themselves — their shared history, their guilt, their fierce, complicated loyalty. Casey’s determination to save Nora, even when the truth becomes more frightening than she imagined, gives the novel its emotional weight. And as the danger closes in, the question becomes not just whether she can rescue her sister, but whether either of them will make it out alive.

A gripping, atmospheric thriller with a sharp emotional edge, perfect for readers who love stories about family bonds pushed to their breaking point.
