I came to Paris for closure. To find out what happened to my sister.
I didn’t expect to meet a man like Kane Black.
He moves like danger lives in his bones. Watches every room like he’s expecting trouble—and like violence is never far behind him. Rumor has it men walk into rings with him and don’t walk out the same.
Kane says he’s no good.
That a man like him doesn’t get happy endings. That his world isn’t meant for women like me. And getting close to him is a mistake I’ll regret. But the way his hand settles on my waist isn’t just protection. The way his voice drops when another man looks at me isn’t just concern. And the hunger in his kiss definitely isn’t professional.
Every time he pulls away, I want him more.
And the longer I stay in Paris, the harder it becomes to tell where danger ends and desire begins.
The problem with falling for a man built for war?
Once he decides you’re his… You’re already in too deep.
Jack Flynn co-writes dark billionaire military romance with Lainey Ray.
Jack is a former military man with a sharp mind, a devilish smirk, and a habit of taking control—in fiction and otherwise. He likes his books like he likes his combat strategies: fast-paced, explosive, and leaving no survivors. When he’s not crafting tactical missions and deadly antiheroes, you can find him reading action thrillers, watching war movies, or engaging in other kinds of action we won’t discuss here.
Jack brings the precision, the danger, and the raw intensity to every Jack & Lainey book. He knows exactly how to build a hero who commands a room, claims a woman, and takes down anyone who dares to stand in his way.
Rumor has it, Jack never loses control … unless Lainey’s involved.
His to Claim drops us right back into Paris with Kane Black and Ella Rousseau — two strong, capable leads who are clearly on their own missions but somehow manage to collide with chemistry that practically fogs up the Eiffel Tower. Kane is peak MMC energy, Ella is fierce and grounded, and together they give the story the heartbeat it needs.
Now… let’s talk about the authors’ favorite hobby: self‑reflection. A little? Great. Some? Fine. This much? I started wondering if we were going to get a separate book just for the characters’ internal thoughts. I don’t need a TED Talk from every protagonist — I just want the plot to move without stopping for emotional yoga every chapter.
But the mystery, danger, and intrigue? Chef’s kiss. Ellsworth — the butler who knows everything, does everything, and probably has MI6 on speed dial — remains the best character in the entire universe. Bringing in Connor and Mila was perfect, and the little nod to Dominion Hall being behind Sanctuary? Oh yes, I ate that up. Crossovers done right.
And then… the epilogue. A five‑year‑old Sabine narrating the ending? I did NOT see that coming, but it was adorable, clever, and honestly the exact kind of twist that makes you smile at the page like a fool. That child has more personality than half the adults in this series.
Despite the occasional “too much thinking, not enough doing,” this book pulled me in, kept me hooked, and left me genuinely excited for Book 3. Bring on the next round — I’m ready.
Jack Flynn and Lainey Ray know how to write a story that's filled with suspense, intrigue and but also loaded with lots of spice. His to Claim is the second in the Sanctuary series and was riveting, start to finish. Connor Ward, one of the Nine who escaped the evils of St. Paul's School for Boys, finds Kane in Bangkok on the run and laying low. He makes Kane an offer he can't refuse; come to Paris and find Sanctuary. Ella is in Paris hoping to find answers about her sister's death and get closure. Neither of them are looking for a relationship but fate had other ideas. He's no good for her and she recently broken up with her ex. The draw between is palpable and despite efforts to "not go there" they do indeed. And, is an big explosive way. Ella, with Kane's help, finds the answers she's seeking and the results are shocking. The element of danger added comes from a surprising place. Excellent reading, I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading. Now I discovered I’m starving and need a restroom break desperately. And I know, as I know many of you do too, that as soon as you see the book is written by Jack and Lainey, you might as well give up the rest of your day because you are not going to be able to put the book down until you have read it in it’s entirety. The book has everything, suspense, sex, love and a great ending that leaves you wanting more. Now I have to wait for the next book in this series, The Sanctuary. For me Jack Flynn and Lainey Ray are my #1 authors. This is just another one of their books I give a 10 out of 10. Bravo authors, on another well written book!
I love the writing style and visual language of these authors. They are unique in the genre. The stories are as much art as literature. I absolutely recommend reading as much by them as possible while it’s still available on kindle unlimited. I expect these books to become popular enough that I’ll have to buy them separately any day. If it comes to that, I’ll absolutely buy them.
Dominion Hall series is an excellently written series by Jack and Lainey. The continuation of it through The Sanctuary series is as impeccably written as Dominion Hall. The genre and all of its content is captivating. Cannot wait for the rest of the series to develop and become available to fans. Enjoy!
Now this book I liked!!! Ella comes to Paris to find out what happened to her sister, Kane comes to Paris for his friend. Good story, good characters. Who is in charge of Consortium Prime and you'll never guess who had Rose killed??? I was surprised!!! Onto the next book....
