When I was a kid, I made comic books of my favorite superheroes. Only they all were all cats, so it was SpiderKitty, Kitty Hulk, and so on. Okay, yeah, that's kinda weird.
In middle school my drawing skills leveled off, yet I kept writing stories --without the pictures. And writing, and writing.
I wrote some awful books, but practice makes at least competent, and the books improved. Now some are pretty good, and you may enjoy reading them.

Crime fiction is not typically something I read. In all honesty, the only reason I gave this a try, was because Mark is a friend of mine. I figured I'd support his writing habit and become an enabler, by purchasing his latest work. Well, I sat down to give the first chapter a try and the next thing I knew, an hour had flown by and I was almost 100 pages into the novel. Mark sucks you right into the story with vivid, yet subtle descriptive text and crisp characterizations. The style is somewhat reminiscent of hard boiled pulp detective stories, but with a dash of modern sensibility and humor. The main character JOE sometimes speaks in clipped, incomplete phrases and scenes are depicted with short, yet precise detail. The overall effect for me, was a fully immersive and effortless read. Each chapter is short and serves to carry the plot along. Character development and background details are cleverly woven into the story. Mark has been honing his craft for many years and it pays off for him and the reader with this book.

Tightly written, compelling, and a little different. Definitely recommended for fans of crime/ gangster fiction.
