Summary is misleading but it was ok
The summary was misleading. It seemed like a romance but honestly it was sad and constantly full of turmoil.
Plus, when I read a romance I want some romance. There really wasn't any. They just fell in love I guess? But they literally never kissed or slept together a single time in this story then they are just in love and together at the end. It's not even until the end when he basically just says he loves her. I also didn't like that you didnt get to see them after the events of the kidnapping and how they handled it. Kinda felt like a waste of a read. Needed to be longer I guess with more info. Good idea for a book just needed more.

2 stars for potential please invest in proofreaders
This appears to be the author's first book. The writing is pretty good but she's very wordy. Also needs an editor.
The MMC claims to have met his wife 5 years prior but their daughter is 5 years old.
So we learn in Chapter 1 that Anna's ex killed a woman and he threatened Anna if she spoke up he'd say it was her. But then he's arrested and supposedly she's the only witness and she says nothing and he goes to jail. I'm confused at how they discovered it was him and why he didn't follow thru on his threats. Ok so I guess we learn later that there was grainy video footage lol
"Those gray eyes, the same shade as his daughter's,"
"She looked me dead in the eye with those warm brown eyes that missed nothing."
"I returned to a penthouse that felt like a tomb, to a daughter who had looked at me with her mother's eyes"
"Her gray eyes, so like mine"
Seriously. Editors and proofreaders are necessary
"I'd been cleaning this penthouse for six months,"
"Mr. Spencer was at work—he always was on Fridays. I'd only met him a handful of times in six months"

If I can catch all these mistakes as just a casual reader, imagine someone reading it with the intention of finding mistakes to fix ;)
The MMC told us that he accessed hallway camera feeds in the FMC building but then tells us
"Lease agreement for a studio apartment in a building with broken security cameras"
This author is bad at math. She continues to go back and forth between 5 years and 6 years as far as Elena goes. Then we have on a Tuesday the FMC tells us
"I'd spent the last five days avoiding being alone with Jack. It wasn't hard. I didn’t work at his home on weekends, so after Saturday's reading, I went straight home"
Even if we include Saturday evening, it's still not five days
"when the worst thing in my world was Daisy's backwards 'i.'"
How does one make a backwards i? I and i even backwards look the same lol
So, they installed a shit tonne of security including upping up building security and some how the building security didn't notice an unauthorized maintenance man strolling thru the halls?

Only You
My oh my, this was a ride. Lots of broken people, lots of suspense. Anna story is so heartbreaking for all the trauma she has endured, yet she keeps trying to make the world a little better Jack and Daisy are drowning in grief from the loss of their wife/mother. Finding each other as they are all trying to heal. I would have loved a epilogue to follow up with their characters 6 months to a year.

Loved the characters. And the set up of the story. My problem was with the ending. It seemed very short. There wasn’t enough of a wrap up and promise for my romantic heart.

Dnf'd at 26%. The inconsistencies were killing me. From changing eyes from grey to brown to back to grey, year/time line/age inconsistencies it just made it unreadable. The final straw for me was MMC giving FMC 4k a month for her to watch his daughter and he says " thats probably more money than she makes in a month, even with her 3 jobs" idk bro, you are the one stalking her and knows exacly how much is in her bank account so you tell me?!?! Oh wait you did, multiple times a few chapters before. Idk was just odd to me and I couldn't continue.
I always feel so bad giving negative reviews because I know how much time and effort goes into writing a book but honestly this one needs more time and effort, sorry.

Don’t bother, nothing made sense
Okay I’m not going to give spoilers but some detail is needed to understand. So stop now if you don’t want a detail spoiler.
Okay, things didn’t make sense, details changed in the middle of the story because it would sound better in that moment. Like a lawyer with a sports car and fancy dinners with colleagues, but later in the book he lived in a run down apartment in a sketchy neighborhood. Here’s another, hands numb tied behind her back. While held as a shield at gun point, she was able to get into his pocket, find the sharpest key without him knowing and hit him in the ribs with the key making him move just enough. How is that physically possible? So if you don’t mind all the details changing in the middle of the story or just not making sense how that could physically happen… read the book, BUT the story continues in the next book so I’ll never really know the ending.

Anna and Jack's story!!!!
Only You was an emotional and heartbreaking romance that started with anger, revenge, and a lot of unanswered questions, but turned into a story about healing, forgiveness, and finding love in the most unexpected places.
Jack is a man who is carrying a lot of pain after losing his wife in a tragic hit-and-run accident. Believing Anna knew more about what happened and chose to stay silent, he sets out to make her pay. He carefully arranges for her to work for him, thinking he knows exactly who she is and what she deserves.
But what Jack doesn’t know is that Anna has been hiding her own pain. The truth behind her silence is much more complicated than he ever imagined, and as he gets closer to learning what really happened, he starts to realize that Anna may not have been the person he thought she was.
Anna’s relationship with Jack’s daughter, Daisy, was one of my favorite parts of the story. After losing her mother, Daisy shut everyone out and stopped speaking. When Jack decides Anna has to leave, Daisy does something completely unexpected that changes everything and gives Anna a reason to stay. From there, Anna becomes Daisy’s nanny, and slowly, she starts becoming an important part of their lives.
I loved watching the relationship between Jack and Anna change. What started with resentment and revenge slowly turned into understanding, trust, and feelings neither of them expected. Jack has to face the fact that Anna was not the villain he believed her to be, and that she was carrying her own trauma and pain.
This book had a great mix of emotional moments, family, healing, and romance. Jack and Anna’s story showed that sometimes the truth is not always what it first appears to be, and people can be carrying battles that no one else knows about.
Overall, Only You was a touching read about grief, second chances, and finding love after experiencing unimaginable pain. It was a story about two people who were both broken in different ways and slowly helped each other heal.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was sad because of the subject matter but it was written quite well. We have an abused women who chose men because of her father abused her mother and at 12 years old she left because of his drinking and abuse. She told her daughter to take care of her father because she couldn't, abandoned by mother...hmm. Then we have her choices of men. After her father died, she chose men who abused her either physically or mentally or both until Carter. This is the story of Anna Stewart and Jack Spencer and his little daughter Daisy who had a prominent role in this book. Her last partner was Carter, who was a lawyer and a mean obsessive abusive person. He knew all about her life and used it against her. The last straw for her and Carter was him wanting to go spend time with his friends and of course she had to go or he would make her regret her not just going with him. Carter hits this woman while on the way to where they were going and he decided that he was going to leave the scene. He pulled over somewhere and threatened her life if she told anybody what happened. This book was about abuse, abandonment, what happens when a loved one is killed and the people who are left behind and what they go through. I didn't think I was going to like this book at first, but it turned out to be a very well written book.

Emotionally fraught
An emotional ride that stayed tense throughout with moments of peace and happiness. The characters were fairly well developed and consistent for the most part. I liked the little girl and I don't normally like children as they're used for everything that goes wrong or manipulation in most plots. I never really warmed to the male lead, and thought despite her silence about his wife's death, his stalking of her was just as unforgivable because he had access to her hospital records and had to know the abuse was most likely horrific. Grief is an explanation not an excuse. In the end I don't think he did enough to redeem himself, and he DID need to redeem himself.
The thing about this book that I thought was incongruous and out of place in the plot despite how well it was developed and written was the rundown nature of her apartment with Carter at the end: if he was described as a "sharp suited and successful" corporate attorney driving a BMW when he killed the woman and he had been taking Anna to nice places etc., why their apartment in the end described as a dump -- just seemed a mistake in the plot, that Anna's tiny studio in the bad part of town was being conflated with the apartment they shared before she left him.
Overall it was a good story, but not in any way what I would call uplifting or lighthearted. More dark and intense with a glimmer of hope at the end, but just a glimmer.

Don't waste your time! That's 4.5 hours I'll never get back.
This book was just eh! The author spent more time describing the walls and the city vs character development of MFC and MMC. The characters lacked any romance or chemistry, aside from Daisy (she was lovable). The MMC spent more time describing his hatred for the FMC for her involvement with his wife's death, but suddenly he's in love with her. The book lacked description of the development of "romance" between MFC and MFC to make it believable. I wouldn't even label this as a romance book. It's more of a mini thriller with all the drama and trauma that the MFC and MMC's daughter endured with the kidnapping. The ending felt rushed and now we're left to believe they have a HEA without a proper epilogue. Instead, there's an abrupt call from Emma to say that she has to leave to help her sister and the MMC finds that troubling. Finally, the book ends and you get a sample taste of the author's next book in the series with Emma's story. No thanks! I will not be reading what's next. Skipped right through those sample chapters because this book has already wasted 4.5 hours.

A Story About Surviving
This isn’t a cutesy romance with a sassy FMC this is about grief, hope and trying to survive a monster.
Anna Stewart has had a string of failed relationships her most recent one being the worst, Carter Wilson is an abusive narcissist. It starts with love bombing, progresses to isolation, gaslighting and abuse. When anything goes wrong in his life it’s going to be her fault because for an abusive narcissist someone else is always at fault.
She barely escaped with her life two years ago, now after moving house and changing her name she’s rebuilding and working 3 jobs to get by. Fridays mean cleaning for a bonafide billionaire and the bright spark in her week, his 5 year old daughter. As she’s cleaning in his office his phone goes off, she didn’t mean to look but she did because the message was about her. There were lots of messages about her, unfortunately she didn’t hear the shower stop running in the other room. Then he was right there demanding to know what she was doing with his phone.
Neither one of them could have predicted what came next.

This was a quick read for me. Book is 200 pages.
Anna has been in some bad relationships in the past. She left her recent relationship after he drove drunk and hit and killed somebody and he ran. He threatened her to say she did it and that she would go to jail.

- At first mention, Mr. Bounces is a rabbit and next two mentions it is a dog.

Story fell a bit flat..
The story had an interesting premise, but the execution felt rushed.
Important details were either glossed over or missing entirely, which made parts of the plot feel incomplete. At times, it seemed like large sections of the story were skipped, leaving gaps that made it harder to stay fully engaged.
The relationship between the two main characters, in particular, lacked a clear and believable buildup. Their emotional connection wasn’t developed enough to convincingly portray their feelings, which made the romance feel unearned.

The story had an interesting premise, but the execution felt rushed.
Important details were either glossed over or missing entirely, which made parts of the plot feel incomplete. At times, it seemed like large sections of the story were skipped, leaving gaps that made it harder to stay fully engaged.
The relationship between the two main characters, in particular, lacked a clear and believable buildup. Their emotional connection wasn’t developed enough to convincingly portray their feelings, which made the romance feel unearned.

Anna and Jack
Slow plot. It really drags. Chapters are mainly their inner dialogue and it’s all very sad and depressing. I really don’t believe they were ready to be together. Both Jack and Anna have suffered past trauma and they’re connected through one single tragic act. I never felt that Jack was ever really all in with Anna. And Anna could have benefitted from intensive therapy before meeting Jack. Well Jack couldve too.
The underlying themes are about grieving, forgiveness and redemption.
Overall, it’s a very slow burn, actually there’s no burn, as these two barely do more than kiss. They also barely talk. They don’t spend any time getting to know each other. No emotion other than sadness and depression. Not really my genre. But if you’re looking for something with lots of feelings and no sex, this might be for you.

I noticed some spelling mistakes which is fine, whatever. We all make spelling mistakes. I guess my big problem is when the mmc literally stalks this woman, has proof of the damage her ex inflicted on her and still goes “she was fully complicit in this incident and I hate her for what she’s done”. Like BRO. You have footage of her checking into a woman’s shelter and medical records (“money can get you anything” go to hell) and somehow come to the conclusion that the ex *wasnt* abusive?? She then tells you how her relationship with the ex went and it’s like a lightbulb goes off for this guy. Seriously, don’t let this guy be a detective. His deduction skills are nonexistent.
Reading other reviews and I must say I’m glad I didn’t finish this book.

I liked this book
I what I like about this book is the drama. Though the words seemed predictable during the police drama, I liked that the author took time with the drama. My only problems are that the characters were not well-developed, and the story was too short. For the most part, the story was well-written. I do plan to read Book 2 to see how the author progressed in writing more deeply. When I read a book I want to be completely immersed in the experience. I want to know the characters, feel their internal thoughts, which the author did well, but descriptions were scant. The story ended too soon for me.

Ok I definitely did not expect this.. this didn't really read as a romance for me but like some suspense I was interested in the whole captivity and rescuing part but Anna and Jack nada, Daisy was adorable though. Jack's feelings were like a switch I felt that had to be some kind of built up shown so much better.. I think he only said I love you and admitting to his feelings because of the whole threat then we got nada from her too. So??? I didn't get much from either of them. My issue wasn't with the whole late partner though that not's a favourite trope of mine but his whole hatred then suddenly changing his mind like you barely know her

I was disappointed in the lack of romance in this romance book. Yes, the main characters fell in love, but most of the book was depressing and full of angst. Many parts were well written, but it should be promoted as a thriller and not a romance. Also, I felt there was a mismatch of information. When the main female character was with her ex-boyfriend, he was a businessman, and they wouldn’t have been living in a hobble, which she tried to present later on in the book. Yes, after she left him, she would’ve been living in a very low income situation, but not while she was dating him. This did not make sense when we got to the kidnapping situation.

Humility against cruelty.
Anna had survived the cruelty from Carter, the man that had thoughtlessly killed an innocent woman whilst driving recklessly. Her life now was just surviving with 3 jobs. One of which included cleaning a penthouse owned by Jack who lived with his daughter Daisy. What Anna didn't realise that Jack was the man whose wife Carter had mown down and he wanted revenge. Daisy hadn't spoken for 2 years, since her mom was killed but Anna seemed to bond with her, much to Jack's disapproval.

Good but need more
I liked the story but it seemed too short. Its only 200pgs, I needed it to expand and explain the scenes. They needed more, the relationship needed more substance. It does end on a sort of cliffhanger but then just ends. I need the next book to hopefully answer the questions left by this book.
I did enjoy it I just feel this book could have been great if it could have been expanded and longer.

Good story
Really enjoyed this story until the ending which left it unclear whether it was cliffhanger for another story or if it leaves the relationship between the two main characters up for interpretation. It is not a typical love story…doesn’t build on the romantic relationship between the two main characters but has them bound together through the actions of the woman’s ex partner.

Good idea
The writing is ok, the plot was ok but moved fast. I mean, I am not sure why this is even in my recommendations. I wont be reading anymore of this author, who to be fair is completely inoffensive. Perhaps this was her first book? If you are looking for zero spice, short read, a little bit cutesy, somewhat dark themes but not the worst I have read triggers, with a weirdly obsessive billionaire. This is your book.

I liked where the story was going but then it kind of veered near the end. There were a few inconsistencies I caught. Where something was explained and a few pages later the same scene was explained differently and then it just takes you out of the story and ruins it. The build up into their “relationship” was incredibly lackluster. I really wanted to love it but just couldn’t get past the editing/inconsistencies and the very lackluster “romance” of the story

Anna, was married to an abusive man, that she couldn't escape. Then her drunk husband hit and killed a woman who was running while Anna was in the car with him. After leaving the scene of the accident, he threatened Anna and told her if she told anyone he would convince them that Anna was the one driving. Her husband was eventually caught and put in prison. Anna tries to move forward with her life, but ends up meeting the widower of her husband's victim.

It was good until it wasn't.
It was a great start, then it was like common sense went out the window. VERY unrealistic events happened that just had me shaking my head. Also the blame for something out of someone's control even after seeing why such an event happened, There was still blame instead of understanding. Good book, good story, but expect fictional dumb things to happen.
