She's a vet witch. He's a demon shifter with three wild shadow beasts. Will an ancient ritual involving the elements pair them as mates, or will fate decide differently?
Victoria Crow hasn't gone on a hot date in almost a year. The witch has survived breast cancer, but she’s too busy for a serious relationship. She overworks herself taking care of familiars at her popular vet clinic. One fateful day, she brings her lucky Wild Card to work, only to find an equally wild demon in need of her magic.
Dezmond Ravenblood is a demon shifter with a multi-shadow beast personality. The beasts have tried for centuries to help him find a mate. Getting injured on the job only makes them angry. The only witch in Midhaven who can patch him up is hot, curvy, and magically single. She also happens to own a dragon egg.
When the dragon egg hatches, Victoria and Dezmond are thrown into an ancient magical ritual, one that will bond them as mates. To form a lasting bond, they will need more than luck if they are to master the elements. As Victoria faces her fears of having her cancer return, Dezmond battles a new shadow beast who threatens to claim her as his own. Will the witch and the demon end up as mates, or will the wild magic they discover transform them?
Amanda writes fantasy and paranormal romance. You can find her in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where she is blazing a trail, drumming with her local taiko group, or having a flamboyant conversation with her two cats. She works as both a park interpreter and a children’s library associate at her local library, where she shares her imagination and creative programs with her community.
A huge thank you to the author for allowing me to be a beta reader. 4 stars, 3.5/5 spicy
This was a good ending to the trilogy of sisters' stories. Victoria is the oldest sister and has such a tragic backstory. She is a true survivor and I was so excited to read her story! She deserved love! Enter in the youngest Demon brother, Dezmond! God the perfect book boyfriend to read about Valentines day! He was sweet, caring and passionate about his lady! He is also a shifter with 3 beast forms! Their love story was fast paced and the plot was fiery (dragons duh!) but it was still a good way to end the series while keeping me intrigued to see if there is any spin offs in the future. I will be buying a release copy and rereading this in the summer.
I was given the honor of being selected as an ARC reader for this book!
Number of pages: 363 Number of Chapters: 41 Has a prologue and epilogue
A Shifter’s Wild Magic by Amanda Casey was such a cozy and emotionally grounded paranormal romance. I absolutely loved that the FMC is 36, plus sized, a breast cancer survivor, and a huge book lover who uses reading — especially her spicy romances — as a way to decompress and escape. Those details made her feel incredibly real and relatable.
One of my favorite things about this book was how Amanda Casey handled body image and insecurities. The FMC experiences intrusive thoughts surrounding her body and weight, but they are written in such a balanced and realistic way. Her insecurities are acknowledged without becoming the sole focus of her personality or the story. The moments where those thoughts appear felt natural and emotionally authentic, making the character especially relatable for readers who experience similar internal struggles.
I also loved how much emphasis was placed on emotional intimacy in addition to physical attraction. The relationship between the couple felt genuine because there was such a strong focus on understanding, respecting, and emotionally connecting with one another instead of relying only on physical chemistry. They truly complemented each other well.
The dual POV and first-person writing style made it easy to connect with both characters, and the dialogue throughout the book was genuinely cute and engaging. The overall atmosphere had such a cozy magical feel that made the story easy to settle into.
Even though this is part of an interconnected series, the author does an excellent job weaving in information from the previous books without overwhelming the reader. I never felt lost, and I think this could absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone.
I also really appreciated how family-centered the story was. While the romance is central, we still get to see the importance of loved ones, support systems, and the connections between all the characters. It added so much warmth to the story overall.
If you enjoy cozy paranormal romance with emotional depth, mature characters, magical elements, and strong relationship development, I’d definitely recommend this one.
I was a beta reader for this and am reviewing voluntarily.
I loved this book. It was just as fun as the other 2 in the series (but you could also read just this book and be ok!). 1 thing I actually liked about this book more than the others was the illness representation. I have chronic health issues so some of what Victoria goes through I can relate to and I actually found it pretty healing.
Just like the other stories, it has fun spice and WOW is this one spicy. This one is even more monster spice than the others. Like definitely check tropes and trigger warnings if you're not into that.
I loved seeing the usual favorites plus some amazing new characters. Any book with sassy fantasy creatures is already one I want to check out and this book was definitely full of them.
This was a wonderful wrap up to the stories of the Ravenblood brothers and Crow sisters. An absolute perfect read for spooky season or year round (I mean I read this in January)!!
I picked up A Shifter's Wild Magic without reading the first two books, and honestly? I had no trouble settling into the story. This is one of those connected series where the author gives you enough context to understand what's happened without making it feel like you're reading a recap chapter. It definitely worked as an interconnected standalone for me.
I really enjoyed the mix of shifter magic, witches, and demons, along with the larger world that's been building throughout the series. The characters had great chemistry, and I quickly became invested in both the romance and the ongoing conflicts surrounding them.
What I appreciated most was that the story felt approachable for new readers while still making it clear there's a bigger world and history behind everything. By the end, I wasn't left feeling like I'd missed out. Instead, I found myself wanting to go back and read the first two books to spend more time with these characters and this world.
Overall, a fun paranormal fantasy romance with magic, danger, and enough series connections to make me curious about what came before.
I have read and enjoyed all of the books in this series, but I think this one was my favorite. This features the eldest sister, Victoria, who is a vet and a survivor, and Dezmond, the youngest of the Ravenblood brothers.
Right from the start, when Dezmond seeks out Victoria for help with an injury, the chemistry is hawt between these two. At first, Victoria has mixed feelings about the dem0n shifter since she is super busy at work and has a secret she is keeping.... However, Dezmond (and his shadow companions) are down bad for the feisty w1tch. But there are outside forces at work that have other plans for them....
This book was hawt hawt hawt! Easily the spiciest book in the trilogy. And I'm not mad at all about that!!!
I liked this book, the plot was easy to follow with just enough at stake to keep me invested. I loved Desmond his personality is pretty easy to get attached to. I also loved the dragons, they are really just like here is all the things you need but that's all the explanation you get. It really added to the just wing it as we go that the book seemed to follow. It really took the time to emphasize that everyone, no matter how in control they seem could be fighting an invisible battle you know nothing about, and that even though your battle may seem big, the burden is easier to hold shared.
A fierce shifter with untamed magic meets the one person who could either break her or complete her. Bound by ancient laws, hunted by dark forces, they must trust each other to survive. High stakes, fated mates, sizzling chemistry, and a world bursting with wild, dangerous magic.
✨ Fast-paced, action-packed, and richly imagined ✨ Strong characters + slow-burn romance ✨ Standalone / part of a series
I loved the series but this one is my favorite. Amanda’s writing gets better and better! The story flows beautifully with intriguing spicy content. All of it easily imaginable 😉 I’d love to write more, but I don’t want to spoil it! The only other thing I could add is that it kept me guessing!
While this may be part of an interconnected series, you do not have to read the other two to enjoy this story. Witches and Demons latest addition, Shifter’s Wild Magic, by Amanda Casey is a cozy, monster shifter romance that while emotional, it is down to earth. Celebrating body positivity, supporting those going through and those who have survived cancer, and breaking the stigma around reading spicy books, Amanda has given readers a book that is unbelievably relatable.
Victoria is an amazing FMC that is written in a way that I believe many people will be able to relate to. She has beat cancer, loves herself and all her curves whole heartedly, and loves unapologetically. Her life hasn’t been easy, but she still faces every day with a can-do attitude. Her story is full of emotion, soul deep raw emotion. While she has insecurities, they do not define her, nor will she let them. Amanda did such a wonderful job making her feel like more of a friend than just a character in a book.
Dezmond is a fun, yet chaotic, character. He has a lot going on inside of him, literally. With multiple shadow beasts raging inside of him, his personalities extend across the spectrum. As soon as he meets Victoria, it’s almost like everything in him stills for a moment. The way he looks at Victoria will make you swoon, as their connection is undeniable. While the shadow beasts flurry around within him, he still has a protective and soft side that keeps coming out over and over again. The contrast between him and Victoria is very easy to see, however, they work so well together.
Amanda has built a world amongst this series that is magical, inviting, and colorful. She not only writes characters you easily connect with and worlds you are immediately pulled into and savor. She balances the emotional depth of this story perfectly with the sexual tension and romance. This combination makes the story captivating but lighthearted enough you can enjoy it little by little or read in all one sitting. With each story Amanda’s writing shines and pulls readers into a world that you can’t help but love.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🔮Fated Mates 😈Shadow Daddy MMC 🔮Vet Witch FMC 😈Body Positivity Rep 🔮Summerween 😈Elemental Magic 🔮Breast Cancer Survivor
A Shifter’s Wild Magic is a standout entry in the Witches & Demons series, delivering a story that is as emotionally resonant as it is fiery.
While it fits seamlessly into the larger series, it stands well enough on its own that even new readers can jump right in.
Victoria, the eldest Crow sister, has a tragic backstory that makes her journey toward love feel deeply earned, and as a survivor, she is incredibly easy to root for.
Her counterpart, the youngest Demon brother, Dezmond, is an exceptional lead. As a shifter with three distinct beast forms, his passion is matched only by his sweetness and protective nature.
What truly sets this installment apart is the representation. Victoria’s experiences with chronic illness and the resulting loneliness were handled with such care that I found them personally healing.
As someone who navigates my own chronic health issues, connecting with Victoria’s journey made this reading experience feel deeply personal and provided a sense of comfort I rarely find in fiction. It added a layer of depth that made the emotional stakes feel incredibly real.
Amanda Casey continues to excel at crafting a world filled with magic, chaos, and sass. The narrative thrives on creative world-building, where everything from the magical vet clinic to the unfolding mystery of the strange egg keeps the plot fast-paced and consistently intriguing.
The witty dialogue paired with the intense, undeniable chemistry between the leads creates a narrative experience that expertly balances cozy atmospheric charm with high-stakes paranormal action.
For those who prioritize character-driven stories, this is an expertly woven narrative that manages to be fun one moment and deeply emotional the next.
This installment leans into monster spice, so if that is your preferred trope, you will love it, though I recommend checking the author’s trigger warnings to ensure the content aligns with your personal preferences.
Whether you are looking for a perfect read for spooky season or a comfort book for year-round enjoyment, this book is an absolute must-read.
I was honored to be able to be an ARC reader for this book! Everything about it was totally up my alley! I had not read the first 2 books and I def want to but it’s def not a necessity to understand the book. I’m giving it a 3.5/5. This book was NOT at all what I was expecting! The first part of the book was what I was expecting, but then more and more interesting different things started happening. The imagery and imagination the author has is phenomenal! There’s so much going on! Which was good and bad. And while it is spicy it’s also like a paranormal mystery. I def kept me up reading late bc I wanted to know what was happening. And I thought that a lot. The story line was very intriguing but confusing. I LOVED that there was a plus size witch and dragons! This book also goes back and forth from FMC to MMC POV. The main reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars was 2 reasons. 1. Because towards the end it seemed like it was rushed from point to point. It got very confusing and almost like it was rushed to be finished. Having a short read is nice but I needed more explanation. And 2. Crazy things would happen and the characters were just like ok let’s go about our day planning a wedding and working like that didn’t just happen. I found that a lil odd bc I’m over hear like wait what!! It was confusing. That part of the book the twists and turns was very exciting! It’s a short fun read. Almost like a paranormal spicy hallmark book. Spice level was def 4/5 bc well… shifters is all I’m gonna say. I have def never read a book like this before! It was def enough to make me want to read the first two! And I would recommend it if you enjoy paranormal romantasy, mystery, dragons, shifters, witches and want a shorter read
This book felt like wrapping yourself in enchanted velvet while a dragon circled overhead and a shadow beast growled in the distance. 🐉✨
A Shifter’s Wild Magic completely stole my heart. Victoria is the kind of FMC I instantly rooted for. She’s strong without pretending she’s invincible, and her journey after surviving breast cancer added such a raw, emotional layer to the story. Watching her balance fear, healing, magic, and love made her feel incredibly real.
And Dezmond? Absolutely feral in the best way. A demon shifter with multiple shadow beasts living inside him sounds chaotic already, but somehow he manages to be protective, intense, and secretly soft all at once. The chemistry between him and Victoria had sparks flying from page one. Their banter, tension, and emotional connection created the perfect paranormal romance storm. 🌑🔥
The world-building was wildly addictive too. Vet witch heroine? Dragon egg? Ancient elemental mating ritual? Shadow beasts? This book tossed magical ingredients into a cauldron and somehow brewed pure gold.
What I loved most was how the romance never overshadowed the emotional depth. Victoria’s fears about her health and future were handled with care, while the magical bond storyline kept the stakes high and deliciously addictive.
If you love: ✨ Fated mates ✨ Paranormal romance ✨ Protective demon MMCs ✨ Strong curvy heroines ✨ Magic + danger + emotional healing ✨ Dragon eggs and shadow creatures
…then this book deserves a spot at the top of your TBR immediately. I devoured every page like a cursed little goblin guarding treasure. 🖤
Have you ever picked up a book thinking it was going to be a fun paranormal romance, only for it to completely pull you into a world full of magic, emotion, chaos, and characters you can’t stop thinking about? Because that’s exactly what A Shifter’s Wild Magic did to me.
This book had everything I love, witches, demons, shifters, magical creatures, and a romance that felt both sweet and wildly intense at the same time. Dezmond instantly stole my attention with his chaotic energy and protective side, while Victoria felt so real and relatable. Her struggles with cancer, body image, and loneliness added so much depth to the story and made me connect with her on an emotional level.
The chemistry between these two was amazing from the start. Their banter had me smiling, but the emotional moments hit just as hard. I also loved how unique the world felt with the magical vet clinic, shadow beasts, and the mystery surrounding the strange egg. It kept me wanting to know more every chapter.
Amanda Casey created a story that feels cozy, emotional, magical, and spicy all at once. I honestly didn’t want to leave this world by the end. If you love paranormal romance with heart, humor, wounded characters, and a touch of chaos, this one is definitely worth reading.
I absolutely loved Victoria’s and Desmond’s story. I picked up A Shifter’s Wild Magic expecting a fun paranormal romance, but I was NOT prepared for how hooked I’d become. From the very first chapters, the chemistry between the characters had me completely invested, and the fastburn romance was done so well. I loved the mix of elemental magic, shifters, fated mates, and even a baby dragon — it made the story feel unique and impossible to stop reading.
What really got me was the plot twist because I genuinely did not see it coming at all. Every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, something happened that pulled me in even more. The pacing was perfect, the tension kept building, and I kept saying ‘just one more chapter’ until suddenly I had finished the entire book in one day.
If you love paranormal romance with action, magic, emotional moments, and characters you can’t help rooting for, this book is absolutely worth reading. I’m already thinking about the characters after finishing, which is always the sign of a great book for me.
Thank you to Amanda Casey for picking me to be an ARC reader for this book.
This is the first book I've read by Amanda Casey and I enjoyed the characters and the story but something was missing for me, and I cannot put my finger on what.
You have Victoria, the vet witch who has not long recovered from breast cancer and then Dezmond the Shifter who falls in love with her, I did love how he made her feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, and made her feel comfortable despite her scars and insecurities about them. I did find the spice a little awkward in places, and I love a bit of spice in books.
The story flows well, a perfect little fantasy dragons also thrown into the story mix, and if you want a book that is a bit of a slow hurn, light hearted and a little sexy in places this is the book for you
This is part of a series and from other reviews it says you can read this as a standalone, and I agree with this but I feel as a reader I would have benefited from reading the other books first.
5⭐️ A vet witch and demon with multiple shifter personalities and one dragon sized task I was most excited to read about this sister and demon brother and the author delivered on it. It was fun, cozy, quirky, fiery (hello dragons?!?) and romance filled As a veterinarian who has always wished to be able to work on mythical creatures, I got to live vicariously through Victoria. Dezmond is the perfect boyfriend material and is swoon worthy with how he treats Victoria. I love that the little dragons name was Torchie and getting to learn about the dragon history was an unexpected twist This book definitely brings the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ specifically monster spice I enjoyed getting to revisit with all the other sassy familiars from the previous books. These critters are some of my favorites characters of the entire series This was a wonderful conclusion to the series and I am hoping maybe there will be some spins offs with the mom, dad, aunts and uncles. Thank you for the opportunity to be an ARC reader!
It was a privilege to ARC read this book. A Shifter’s Wild Magic was an enjoyable paranormal romance based in an interesting magical world. It has supernatural elements, and a good mix of romance and action. It’s a creative story filled with witches, demon shifters, shadow beasts, and elemental magic that definitely stood out from other books I’ve read recently. Victoria (main character) is likeable and I appreciated the emotional depth added through her personal struggles. Dezmond’s character and the chaotic shadow beasts added some fun and intensity to the story, and the magical bond between them kept things interesting. I think my rating mostly comes down to personal reading taste at the moment. I’ve been reading slightly different genres lately, so it took me a little time to fully connect with the paranormal and fantasy-heavy aspects of the story. That said, fans of shifter romances, magic-filled worlds, and fated mate dynamics will probably enjoy this much more than I did.
I absolutely loved returning to this world and finally getting to watch the last Crowe and Ravensblood siblings fall in love. Victoria and Dezmond were such a fun couple to follow. I loved watching Victoria battle monsters while slowly falling for her shadow-wielding demon shifter. Their chemistry was emotional, magical, and genuinely entertaining.
Zed was such a treat throughout this book. Watching him learn his own lessons while also being an absolute treasure to Victoria made me love him even more. Of course, Torchie became one of my favorite characters, ever. His parents too. Honestly, every familiar and creature in this series has my heart.
I also loved getting to see how Amon and Lucy, along with Krim and Grace, are doing in their relationships. Those little updates made me so so happy. I’m really hoping we eventually get more about Cindy and Eugene and maybe even their twin siblings, too.
This book balanced humor, romance, magic, and emotional moments really well. Overall, this was such a fun and heartfelt read, and I’m definitely not ready to leave this world behind.
Thank you, Amanda Casey and Bookfunnel, for an eARC copy of this wonderful story.
Overall I enjoyed reading this book and the last 25% got really good. ⭐⭐⭐.75 The beginning was a bit slow and feels as if the author wants to make sure we know Victoria is a divorcee who's had cancer and reads romance novels but the repetitiveness dies back the further into the story you go. Very fast burn as the main characters basically jump one another as soon as they meet. Not a bad thing in my opinion, sometimes you need a fast burn. The magic system is great, I love how they each have their own abilities but some have similar traits to other family members. I also love the dragons and that they're tied to different elements too. There was some heartbreak but also a couple of surprises and a few twists near the end which made for good action reading. I think I would have liked the spicy scenes to be a little bit more descriptive but they were ok (It's just my preference). Mega bonus points for the double dick and the knot!
This book has everything. Fated mates, evil demon, shifters, dragons, witches, and a curse that could end everything. I felt a connection to the story. Everyone has monsters they would rather run from than face, and love showed two people their monsters were not as strong as they thought they were. It is amazingly written to where I could feel the emotions of the characters. Torchie and Francine were my favorite supporting characters. Dez helps Victoria through the scare of possibly having breast cancer again, and him worshipping her body like a goddess gives her a new confidence that helps her tell her cancer monster where to go. At first her scars were all she was afraid Dez would see. As in real life if a person really loves you, your scars are as beautiful as you are. Love helps people cope when they don't think it is possible to do so. Sometimes a hug can calm even the worst fears and doubts. I definitely recommend this book. It is amazing!!!!!
I received an ARC copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This is the 1st book I've read by Amanda, which I was drawn to, not only because of witches & demons, but also to see how she incorporated breast cancer into her story. I struggled to get into this book, putting it aside then retrying, but I did finish it. At times I found it good, at other times it was as though something was lacking, that there details missed out that could have added more substance. I did recognise the fear of a return of breast cancer, the fear of feeling less after a mastectomy & shouldering some things on your own to avoid burdening your family, these were so reminiscent for me & Amanda did well to brings this in without making it feel less or making her story too emotional. I loved how the dragons were portrayed, being elemental beings & hiding in plain sight.
Being an ARC reader for A Shifters Wild Mate by Amanda Casey was such an amazing privilege. This book may be a shorter read, but it absolutely delivers on every level. The plot was climactic and engaging from start to finish, and the steamy romance was easily a 10/10.
What really stood out to me was the heartfelt message woven into the story. The FMC faces a real “monster” in her life, and watching her journey showed that even the darkest and scariest things can be overcome. The story beautifully highlights how having people in your corner can make life’s hardest battles so much easier to bear.
Overall, this was a very well-written read with emotion, passion, and an impactful message that stayed with me long after I finished it.
This has the possibility of being a very good and entertaining story. The FMC, Victoria, a witch vet who had breast cancer and is still dealing with the changes to her body after surgery, had some serious potential. But the lack of depth to the character and just the choppy story took away from the great female character she could have been. I mean what witch doesn't realize she hasn't seen her familiar? Then the MMC, Desmond, really cool that he is a deom with 3 shadow beasts, but again isnt worrid when they aren't in his head as much! They are a part of him, hiw does he not notice. Then people had information to help figure out what was going on in the town but nobody finished a conversation.

I had the wonderful opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book. I love cozy fantasy a lot and enjoyed the representation this book offered. Victoria is a Vet witch who is a cancer survivor dealing with the trauma and aftermath of the disease. She's also a curvy queen so I loved that! I do love the intentions of this book, however the execution could have been better. There were so many corny phrases like "Best demon" for Best Man and "ride me like a broomstick you wild witch". I get it. Its a witch and demon pairing relax. A lot of it came across very cringy. The action that happened felt rushed and thrown in randomly and I think the book needs more work regarding fluidity. The spice scenes didn't really do much for me. Overall an okay read. Cute but needs work.
**ARC Review** I'm giving this book 4 stars. It's the first I've read by Amanda Casey. I think it works as a standalone, even though it's part of a series. The author gave enough background in an organic way for me to NOT feel like the first part of the book was a summary of previous books just to get me "caught up". I love books with witches and demons, so it was right up my alley. It had mystery, magic, good banter, real life situations (cancer, post-mastectomy body confidence issues, plus-size FMC), dragons, and shifter spice. A few parts of the book seemed a bit confusing and rushed to me, but maybe it was because I haven't read the first 2 books. Overall, I enjoyed it! Thanks for letting me ARC read for you, Amanda!
Thanks you for giving me the chance to read this. It has good potential and I love that we have a MC who is dealing with a life changing health issue and the emotions and thought that can come with it. I do feel that the story has a good idea but feels rushed. Where we jump around from one event to the next and back again. The idea of the shadow beasts is a fun idea but would be nice to see more with it. Overall though it was a nice read and even though it can be read as a stand alone the story made me interested in the other characters stories aswell.

This is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone however whatcha doing not reading the others it helps you understand the dynamic of everyone I feel. Plus why would you not want three gorgeous books about witches and there familiars.
We have met Victoria our big sister of the girls and a take no nonsense attitude, she's also a vet. She really surprised me and through the toughness you see her vulnerable side. When she is with Dezmond our resident drummer shadow shifter daddy. He doesn't have one animal he has three and boy are they hard to control but when he's with her his animals are calmed.
Also in all of the chaos that surrounds them we also have a dragon egg entered into the mix. If you like confident shadow demons and a sassy lady and magic this is a book for you.
Victoria freaking Crow is nothing short of a badass! She kicked cancer’s ass and now she has her very own demon shifter who wants nothing more than to worship her with his tongue. Ladies this demon shifter Desmond likes to eat and please his vet witch with his shadows however she sees fit to let him!
I was tickled pink to see my favorite grumpy side character from book 1- Grubs! I missed him, he lives rent free in my head!
You will laugh out loud while reading A Shifter’s Wild Magic but beware you will need a tissue when things get dark late in the book. Don’t worry there is no 3rd act breakup just heavy topics!
Thank you so much to Amanda Casey for having me back on the ARC team for book 3, it was amazing! I recommend this book to all my demon loving, romcom reading book friends!
I have not read the first 2 books in this series but this book sounded really cool. I loved the world. I thought it was unique with the demons having shadow beast. It just fell kinda flat for me with how everything played out. Everything felt rushed and I had a hard time really imagining how scenes were playing out.
I liked all the characters. The couples were great together and there was good spice.
I am so glad I finally got to read Victoria’s story! Out of the 3 sisters she has truly survived so much, cancer, divorce, I was glad she finally found a great partner! Who turned out to have 3 shifter forms to boot. ;) Spice was a 3/5. It’s not often I pick up a book and can’t put it down, but each of the books in this series has been so so good and un-put-down-able! :)
I received an ARC from the author, thank you so much!
