This book had the chance to please me, but then the ridiculous insta-love happened. I wouldn't have mind if it was actually written well, but in this case it was fucking stupid and extremely fast.

This is what the book basically is:
Cassie Monroe get her dream job in Canyon Cove.
She's warned about the boss, who happens to the billionaire playboy.
But the billionaire playboy wants her and only her and he'll get her one way or another.

Now sounds great right?
No, no it wasn't, it fucking sucked.

As soon as Gabriel meets her, he automatically wants to make her "his." Dude, please chill the fuck out, you can't just own this girl like property. He was always fucking mentioning how badly he wanted her curvy body and would simply not shut the fuck up about it. I get it if he said to some extent, but continuously repeating it got really fucking annoying. We get the point boy, now shut up.

"mine"

"When she caught me looking at her, I couldn’t help but smile, but when she shyly turned away, I knew I had to have her."

"Hmm, a dirty mouth and a dirty mind. Seems like you’re my kind of girl."

Obviously he wants the curvy girly to be his, but then why the fuck does he keep on pushing her away??

*Gabriel is eating Cassie's face*
*pulls away*
*thinks*
Gabriel: Sorry we shouldn't be together.
Cassie: OMG wtf why???
Gabriel: Sorry baby, but we should keep it business.

*2 hours later*
Gabriel: CASSIE BABY I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND WE SHOULD BE TOGETHER PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE.
Cassie: OH YES!
*make out and eat each other's faces*

*Gabriel gives Cassie an expensive gift*
Cassie: oh no no i barely know you. we shouldn't be together

Me: ??¿¿?!?!?!!?!¿¿¿!?!?!?!?¿??¿¿?? ?¿¿???

But Gabriel wanted to keep her, so he chooses blackmailing and threats.

"Let me put it this way. If you want to continue working for me, you’re going to live where I say."

“You’ve just been hired to housesit for me.” “That’s ridiculous.” “If you don’t accept your added responsibility, I’ll have to fire you.” “You don’t mean that,” I said. “Do you want to test me?” “No,” I said, giving in."

Honestly this book is a mess. The plot is absolute shit and the characters are fucking stupid.

I received this in a big bunch of books to stuff my kindle for the holidays. Cassie is down on her luck and really needs a good job. She doesn't expect that she will find a gorgeous man and job all in the same day. Gabriel was a little heavy handed at times but I enjoyed how their romance grew. It was a good read that I could not put down.

Playing Games is an entertaining read that kept me interested the whole way through. In this story, we meet two strong characters who also have hidden vulnerabilities. Cassie is a physical therapist with a Phd and a tough, spunky attitude. Despite these qualities, she is unemployed and broke. On a last-chance job interview, she meets former MMA-fighter Gabriel. He appears to be a rich playboy, selfishly breezing through life. Truthfully, he has secrets in his personal life that prove he is much more than that.
Though both are initially uninterested in love, the connection they share draws them deeper into a relationship, and they find qualities in each other that they once considered unattainable. It's amazing to see the effect Cassie has on Gabriel's life--and vice versa. They make each others' lives happier and less stressful.
I do have a couple of small complaints: 1. There is one scene where the character is doing something so stupid that she even admits it (and the results of her actions are painfully predictable). 2. There was a situation where one of Gabriel's secrets had been causing fights and jeopardizing their relationship. But when he finally starts to fess up, Cassie tells him to wait and tell her later. What?!?
Despite any minor complaints, the book was great. The ending was amazing--everything tied up well, questions were answered, and I felt satisfied knowing Cassie and Gabriel were going to have an amazing future. I also liked getting to see a glimpse of some characters from other books in the Canyon Cove series (Ashley, Xander, Deborah, etc.).

3 ½ out of 5 stars

Cassie Monroe is desperate to find a job in her field. She moves to Canyon Cove to get a new start in life but she also needs to pay the bills.

When her roommate sets up an interview with her uncle for Cassie, she is thrilled to get a chance to put her physical therapy degree to use. What better place to work than a gym filled with gorgeous men?

Gabriel Kohl is a billionaire who owns the hottest mixed martial arts organization in the city. He takes control in everything he does.

When he catches his new employee trying to sneak a peek at him in the gyms shower room, he is intrigued. There is something different about this beautiful woman that takes him by surprise. She isn’t into him for his money.

The attraction between them is strong but Gabriel has secrets and Cassie doesn’t know whether he is a one-woman man.

The storyline in this book was pretty good but I felt that the chapters didn’t flow very well. They were kind of all over the place. I also thought that Cassie didn’t put up enough of a fight if she was supposed to not be after Gabriel’s money.

This one was just ok... it just seemed to lack a little something for me. I like the dual POV i feel that helps you to know the characters better. I didn't think Cassie had much of a back bone, even though she kept saying she would stand up for herself, she went along with everything the H said or wanted her to do all the while the H had a secret that was pretty big. Not going to continue with this series.

Why did I love this story? The whole MMA thing is, of course, way hot. As is him being a billionaire. And some of those scenes...OMFG I think the author plucked my fantasies straight out of my brain. I read this as part of a 4 book set. Definitely worth a read.

I was very disappointed in this one. No real flow to the book. They met, they kiss, and then they are in love. REALLY!!?? It had the potential to be something more, but it missed the mark for me.

I loved this book. Everyone loves a hot billionaire, and this book is no exception for that. I loved everything about Cassie and Gabriel, and the little secrets here and there throughout the book give it an edge. I haven't read a book featured around MMA, so this was a little different from what I normally read but I still loved it nonetheless. If you love a sexy guy that rescues a girl, this book is for you!

Playing Games: Cassie and Gabriel: Canyon Cove Billionaires is by Liliana Rhodes. This is book one in the series of five novels about billionaires in Canyon Cove. The first book is really good. Liliana manages to infuse the romance with enough action and adventure to keep it interesting. It is told in alternating chapters by the two main characters.
Cassie Monroe is broke and unemployed. She is hoping her life will change now that she has come to Canyon Cove. She is sharing an apartment with a roommate, Becca. She had sold her car to afford to pay the rent. Now, thanks to her roommate, she has an interview with her roommate’s uncle, Mack Draven. She is on her way out of the apartment to the interview when her Mother called. Her Mother reiterates that her cousin, Ashley, had found a billionaire in Canyon Cove and married him. She is expecting Cassie to do the same. Cassie just gets off the phone as soon as possible and heads for the gym where Mack worked. Cassie knows that her Doctorate in Physical Therapy can help the boxers Mack works with. She just needs a chance to show them. Cassie knows she can work for the biggest martial arts organization in the country if given a chance.
As Cassie enters the MMAC, she closes her eyes and prays she can convince Mack to hire her. She watches Mack with some boxers. Since she had watched boxing with her dad for years, she knew a few things. She saw what the young boxer was doing wrong and dared to tell Mack what she saw. He said if the young man knocked down his opponent with his right, she could get the job. She got the job. As she wandered around the gym afterwards to get an overview of the place, she ran into a young man who intrigued her. After an encounter, he disappeared. Cassie knew she had to meet him again.
Gabriel Kohl was the boxer she met. However, he disappeared quickly after kidding her. He was very much attracted to Cassie. What she doesn’t know if that Gabriel is the owner of the gym as well as others and he works a great deal with the nuts and bolts of the background. What Cassie doesn’t know is that he is a billionaire and as such wants to buy her presents. Can such a relationship work?

This Book. So there is a lot of love - hate with this book. When i initially went into it , i knew it was going to be our typical billionaire romance. But the whole entire book take place in less then a year wich really bothered me. That was its first flaw, the relationship between the 2 main characters was basic and flat, i didnt feel a real connection between the two. The things i did like that brought this book up to a 3 was: 1. That for once in a book they finally have the guy say "She is definitely my type." and not "I typically don't go for girls like her but there is something about her." like most books do. Another aspect that really brought this book up for me was the child aspect. That is something i have never seen before in a NA book and it was portrayed perfectly. But then it ended on the high end cheesy note and flopped for me. So i didn't like it enough to continue on with series but it was enjoyable.

The Game of Love

Gabriel is a fine figure of an alpha male and has a small secret. Cassie is a gorgeous very smart gal who gets a job at Gabriel’s gym. As they get to know each other better, Gabriel’s private life encroaches on the time they can spend together. But love will always find a way and Gabriel finally tells Cassie his secret and all is well. Lovely story, a fine romance with a holiday theme and family, his and hers.

Terrific

What a great story. She needs a job and is hoping the job interview goes well. Mack warns her about the suit. Little did she know the fighter she was flirting with was the suit.

I really wanted to like Cassie, at first she seemed spunky and just wild spirited but as the book progressed, I realized she wasn't any of those things, she was actually a doormat. You know one of those women who talk a big game in their head but when it comes down to it just end up shutting the fuck up and doing whatever people tell them to do? That was Cassie. Quite frankly, she was pathetic. She was easily swayed and manipulated to do any and every thing Gabriel wanted her to do. That, a strong woman doesn't make. She needs a backbone and to learn how to stand up for herself.

Gabriel was a bully. You don't show a woman your supposedly interested in how into her you are by forcing her to do shit just to please you. If she wants to be with you, then she'll be with you. Coercion, manipulation and even blackmail is not the way to do it. There was nothing attractive about this dude, not even all his billions could make up for his forceful behavior.

Lastly, why is a little nine year old talking and holding conversations better than an adult? I do realize there are extremely smart kids in the world, but at the end of the day a child is just that..a child. It was just to farfetched to believe a little nine year old girl can speak better than an adult. Why can't authors write children as they are, why must they write children acting like adults. That's not cute nor amusing when the youngest character in a book is made to be more intelligent than the adults.

With my take on the three important characters in this book, I will say that I admired Gabriel for taking in Wendy and raising her as his own. Sad that it took a child for him to change his manwhoring ways but at least he did change. Kids tend to bring out either the best or the worst in adults, in Gabriel's case, Wendy brought about a good change in him. Still this book was a tad bit boring. I skimmed through a few pages because there really wasn't anything interesting going on. I have a feeling the rest of the books will follow this formula, bunch of doormats looking for rich husbands while pretending to be humble but taking every cent given to them. I would respect them if they just admitted to being attracted to the money as much as the man, pretending otherwise just makes you look like a paid prostitute.

You read a lot of negative comments about this book and are wondering whether you should give it a try anyways? NO - YOU SHOULDN'T This book really sucked. The story was a shallow tale about 2 people falling in love for NO OBVIOUS REASONS WHATSOEVER

SPOILER ALERT, basically what happens:

Gabriel: I want her
Cassie: I shouldn't to this
Gabriel: *she has to obey*
Cassie: *well ok then*

And, oh yes, she is magically ok with all the moves he pulls. I don't get it. There is no in depth information on either of the characters. HOW did they fall in love? I still don't know what they like about each other... and since this is what makes romance book so great, this book just friggin sucked...

this started out with some promise (as far as romance novels go) but then... ehh let's see:

instalove
no real development of relationship after instalove
only one real steamy scene (kinda disappointing for a romance novel, imo)
happily ever after happened too early in the book
Gabriel's chapters were incredibly disappointing and pointless
more unrealistic than usual in a romance

giving it two stars because it was a quick read and the beginning was okay... but this just wasn't good and the last few chapters felt like a chore... when it ended i was both disappointed that nothing more exciting or interesting happened and relieved that I was done.

I don't think I'm going to read any more by this author.

I am trying to catch up on my reading. Just finished reading this book #playinggames by #lilianarhodes I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t trying to get into a series but I will be reading the next book. This story is about A girl looking for a job, while she goes for her interview and gets more than what she asked for.”stay away from the suit” is the warning she gets. But when she finds him in a towel can she stay away from him? A chaste kiss leaves her breathless who’s is this stranger? “Oh you met the suit.” Noooo she did not just kiss her boss!!! That’s right check out this book it was a good read and a quick one. Couldn’t put it down.

Sweet Story!

This story was really sweet. Even though there wasn't a ton of chemistry between the characters, I still felt a connection.

Cassie is in desperate need of a job. While at her unconventional interview, she meets gorgeous billionaire Gabriel Kohl. Despite being warned about his womanizing ways, Cassie dives head first into a relationship with him.

Something about Gabriel is just a little off. He's keeping something from her and she can't seem to figure out what that is. She's determined to uncover his secret and hopefully continue her relationship.

I enjoyed this book, I liked the characters, thought the storyline was good, liked that it interacted with Ashley and Xander but was a little confused if they were that close and family that she didn’t know they were married? But then I was confused again why she didn’t want anyone to know when they were married? Surely that’s something you would be proud about not wanting to hide it? But anyway, I enjoyed it and looking forward to reading the book 😁

This is Cassie and Gabriel and their story. Gabriel owns a gym and was an MMA fighter. Cassie needs a job she is a physical therapist. Gabriel knows that Cassie is the one for him, but she avoids him. Cassie knows that Gabriel is hiding something from her. What a story, loved the relationship as it developed and the way the characters interacted with eachother. Great book. Cannot wait for the others in the series.

I could only get through Chapter 7. The characters were interesting, but the tedious description of the penthouse put me to sleep. Also, it was unbelievable that Cassie would move into the penthouse—and that Gabriel would even offer before they even went on a date. All the back and forth of Cassie arguing about how she can’t possibly move in, but every single person she talks to telling her to do it was irritating.

Two Different Worlds
Cassie, a broke and unemployed physical therapist, finds her ideal job at last and is attracted to a hunk at the training facility where she becomes employed. The hunk, Gabriel, turns out to be the billionaire, elusive, secretive owner of the training facility, and much more, and is smitten with Cassie as well. Can two people from two different worlds make it work? This is a fun read.

From rags to riches...

Gabriel and Cassie’s chance meeting during her interview left sparks flying that ended up being the best for both of them. Cassie went from rags to riches when she snagged her man and gained a daughter along the way. Gabriel proved the point that his beginnings wouldn’t determine his ending and kicked butt being a single...smh at Dakota...poor lil tink tink. Looking forward to reading more books in this series!

An enjoyable romantic well written sweet love story. This smooth flowing story includes some secrets, financial struggles, insecurities and romance with well developed, relatable, passionate characters with a mix of some steamy hotness. A great series addition, I love it's  a standalone with recurring characters.  I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC and can't wait to read more romantic adventures.

A great HEA

This was a very sweet, romantic story that has a great storyline as well as characters. There are surprises and even when you think there are no more surprises, guess what there's two more. The characters were fantastic and it was such a breath of fresh air to read this. So, if you're looking for a romantic, HEA then this is the book for you.

It was kind of a fun little story. I was hoping for more of a steamy romance though. I was disappointed when suddenly a daughter was involved. There goes the sexy romance. It was kind of sweet at the end though. I was lucky when I went to finish it I was in to mood for something sweet and lovey-dovey xD

It was a pleasant and entertaining enough read, that being said it was quite predictable and even cringy at the beginning. The romance moved way to fast, there was no build up to it they just jumped straight in and it was all quite unrealistic. But if you need something to fill your time with its lighthearted and not terrible to read.
