Just phenomenal! Kennedy has such a great way of writing action that doesn't feel forced, and this book has a lot of it. The Luminarans have had three years to figure out how they really want to live, but the Aeternans have thrown a small wrench into their peaceful society. I still can't figure out their long-term goals with the Luminarans, but I know it'll come into the story before much longer. On the Tet side of Teton, the Pure Breathers are ready to attack the Blends and man, is it ever a huge ordeal. I can't say more than that about the war or it'll spoil the entire story. Just know, this book is worth every moment you'll spend reading it!
A enjoyable and well-written continuation of the Teton series. The Lumin are settled in their new home but war is brewing between the Pure Breathers and the Blends. However, the Lumin are likely to be the next target fot the Pure Breathers. The two aliens who have appeared at intervals in the earlier books reveal themselves as emissaries from another planet and offer the Lumin their support, but at what cost? At the same time they encourage the Pure Breeders to launch their attack on the Blends. The book can be read as a standalone novel with a satisfactory ending but would be difficult to get into without knowledge of the earlier volumes. A well worthwhile read.
I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
The story moves along at a fast pace through this book.
Arliss is trying to come to terms with the loss of Meera and the unknown whereabouts of Kip. While he has become Marshall with all of the responsibilities that that incurs.
I don’t want to give too much away but I have to say that there are explosive things to come involving everyone.
Years later, the Lumins remain hidden in their paradise, holding to the belief they can hide from the rest of Teton. At the same time, there is an uneasy peace for the Blends throughout the cities. But how long can hate last, without the Pure Breathers being able to satiate that anger? And what longer term games are going on? Great action, complex, interwoven plots, and fascinating characters (not to mention a number of interesting surprises).
