Even with over 1.5 million copies of my books in print, I still feel like I haven’t written the perfect story. From my office in the woods of Northern Alberta, I’ll keep trying. Inspired by spectacular sunrises, breathtaking Northern Lights and long walks through wooded trails, the stories keep coming. Better than most Love Inspired books. I still struggled with figuring out Heather's history and why she did what she did. Some of it stems from her biological mother and her fears that she'd be similar.

I'm not quite sure why Heather went to college. It seems a combination of her adopted parents wanting her to and her wanting to prove she was worthy of John. But from what I could tell, she felt alone at college and that affected her performance there. (I'm not sure if that was the sole reason she didn't do well in college but it is the one that's discussed in the book.) Then, she felt guilty that she'd wasted the money Ellen and Monty spent to send her to college and fell into Mitch's plans for her to become a model.

It seems Heather did have a fairly successful modeling career for a time. She was able to pay back Ellen and Monty for the college tuition--somehow, since it seemed Mitch managed her money and didn't make the wisest choices. He also pushed her to take jobs that he knew she wouldn't approve of the results which is part of what caused her to quit.

The rest of the plot seems set to keep her in Saddlebank and near John.

The reason I say it's a bit better than the average LI story is that the author does have Heather learn some lessons and confront her fears about her past.

Reunited with the Cowboy by Carolyne Aarsen was a cute second chance romance. The chemistry between Heather and John was perfect. I enjoyed getting to see bits of their past together and how they both came to terms with their present situation. It's a complete standalone, so you don't need to have read the first book to understand the characters or plot. For someone who doesn't read a lot of inspirational romance, I felt like the mentions of God and praying was balanced well. Personally, I would have liked a bit more depth of emotions around what John and Heather were feeling at different points in the story. Overall, I liked this story.

Carolyne Aarsen is one of my favorite writers of the Love Swept series. "Reunited with the Cowboy", however, involves a plot of major misunderstandings and miscommunication. I didn't like this novel as much as I have so many other books the author has written.

Refuge Ranch
Book 2

This is the second book in a three book series about a family (The Bannister's) who own a ranch. In this book we meet the adopted daughter, Heather, as she returns for what she hopes is a short visit to help her sister plan her wedding shower. But an accident puts her in contact with John, her father's foreman, and his sweet little girl who lost her mother during childbirth. She and John have a history - before she left him for a man who promised her a great modeling career in New York.

Things didn't turn out so hot for either Heather or John. Due to family circumstances, Heather is asked to stay and care for John's little girl, who John believes she doesn't like. John resents this until he learns the truth behind why she is uncomfortable. Other circumstances along the way put the two together, and before they know what's happening they begin playing on their attraction to each other.

Carolyne Aarsen wrote a wonderful book about a couple trying to put past pains behind them and finding a way to love again. The romance is sweet and true. There is conflict with John's in-law's that adds to the story. My only complaint is that I thought that issue was resolved way too easily - wouldn't happen like that in real life...

I'm not one to write reviews, but I won this book off of a Goodreads contest so I figured I'd give reviewing a shot.
I love the quiet simplicity of Carolyne Aarsen's books. Her faith is very evident in her writing, but it's not overwhelming. It feels natural. I also like that her heroines seems very realistic and have problems that I myself can relate to even though I've never personally been beaten by anyone (unless you count that one fight I got into in grade school). They feel like people I would like in real life. Her heroes sometimes feel a little over the top, but not by much. All in all this was a very good read. Nothing hot and steamy, which I sometimes am not in the mood for. On to book three in the series!!

I enjoyed Reunited With The Cowboy a Refuge Ranch series by Carolyne Aarsen. Heather had a very bad childhood life. The Bannisters adopted her when she was ten. They have a daughter and a son. Heather had lots of problems. She left the ranch to model. Mitch was looking for models. Heather went to New York with him. She became pregnant. Mitch spend all her money. She married Mitch since it was his baby. He ended up beating her. She lost the baby when he hit her and she fell down the stairs. She goes back home Finds out that John Argall's wife died after giving birth to their baby who is two years old now. John had always loved Heather. Things happen. They get together. A much read to see all that happens.

Love Carolyne Aarsen books from Love Inspired! This one was typical of her style. Heather Bannister is back at Refuge Ranch following the break-up of her marriage. Model gorgeous, she struggles to feel good enough for her adoptive family. She married on the rebound from her relationship with John Argall and lived to regret the decision. Now she's back and John, widowed with a 2 year old daughter, is still at Refuge Ranch. Will she be able to overcome her feelings of unworthiness to let her family's love build her back up? Moreover, can she forgive herself for her mistakes in order to see that she and John, together, is still a possibility?

A cute story. I got upset about the side comments about heather's sister relationship. What I didn't realise when I first read this book as it was the second book in the series. While you won't need to read the first book in the series to understand the main story. Some including myself might get upset about a comment about the sister marrying a guy who's brother abused her. If this be the case I encourage you to read the first book in the series 'a cowboy hero' which covers the story of her sister and tanner getting back together. A give you background on why someone might marry a brother of someone who abused you.
