The premise of the story sounds good, but reading this is another thing completely. I spent the majority of the time wondering if this was actually written by AI, maybe Chat GPT? Apparently this is a real human that has almost 100 books published. Does this go through an editor? The cover and thr blurb are extremely deceiving to be honest here. not only is it written really robotically, with very little depth into any of the characters, the spacing is very strange between each sentence like take away all the spacing and the book is maybe 100 pages total. It was boring and predictable. if you read the title of each chapter it literally tells you what will happen and you can skip ahead. I found myself skipping parts and trying to find more depth. There is no exploration or depth into anything. Characters or background, even romantic relationships. I don't really mind 'instalove' type stories, but this was honestly ridiculous. Also, the FMC literally just kept bringing up how quickly everything was happening. We know, we're reading it as you're saying everything and repeating yourself 100 times. Find more for your plot. It's ridiculous. And then oh she meets her mom who 'abandoned her to protect her' but never checked on her through life and now wants to save her by kidnapping her like she has any authority over her decisions. Also there was no spice at all. -1/5 because even the closed door romance was lacking anything. Three sentences and you're done with no emotions described but they supposedly are all in love? Also, characters that are indecisive and personality swapping throughout are extremely irritating. One minute she feels useless, then she is the Thorn and she will save them and agrees but then she needs time. Apparently time equates to 30 minutes later. Then deciding she will help them, then needing time again. I could go on, but I won't because I don't care enough. the only reason I didn't DNF is because I never DNF books but rather just skim through them once I realize they turn out like this. I hope it will get better at some point while constantly being disappointed.

I went into this expecting an academy story, but it really isn’t one in any meaningful sense.
The FMC receives an invitation to attend an academy and goes there… but we never really see the academy. There’s very little detail about it, and she barely interacts with anyone else there.
Because of that, the setting feels strangely empty and a bit hollow.
The biggest issue for me though was the lack of tension. The story is full of angst, but there isn’t much real conflict driving the plot forward.
There’s also a romance that develops incredibly quickly — we’re talking falling in love within about three days — which made it hard to believe.
I ended up DNFing at 63% because the story just wasn’t pulling me in.
📚 academy… but not really ⚡ lots of angst ❄️ very little tension 💔 rushed romance 📖 DNF at 63%
Book 1 (of 5). DNF at 60%. Feeling a bit confused by this one. The blurb on Kindle made me leap in, expecting the promised 18+ mature content. Instead, it gave off strong teen/YA vibes. The FMC had just turned 18 and, when she meets her 4 MMCs, they're all falling in love in 5 minutes flat. It's been decades since I had hormones that volatile and it gave me the sense that I am not the intended audience for this book. Shame, really, because there are some very tasty ingredients here and I could have loved this series, except the delivery felt too shallow and simplistic for the reader I am. Others might enjoy it more but my TBR is already massive so I'm moving on.
The way this book sprinted through the plot until the halfway point to come to a screeching halt where we were treated to half a book that focused on an inner monologue loop.
Everything about this story was rushed. The knowledge of being something else, the relationship bonds, the beginnings of the curse breaking and the deadline for execution. Too much too fast and yet 45% of this book was stuck in this insecure 18 year olds inner monologue about doubting if she is enough or whether she wanted to become immortal, blah blah blah.
Short book, short plot, a cliffy that was somehow dramatic AND boring, no desire to continue.
I like this. But not at the same time. It’s interesting… but so rushed. Like everything in 3 weeks and no progression with her magic just all of a sudden bam she’s good and the guys are obsessed and have no choice and insta love. Hopefully 2 slows down a bit cus this one felt super rushed
Being nice to horrible mother, fmc saying I need space, I need to think then on the next page not doing that. Constant repeat of the same thing. Wonderful build up to spicy scenes but completely closed door.
I thought I found a wonderful series and it could have been. It was just so obnoxiously repetitive.
Was this written by AI? It read like it did. Horrible spicy scenes, barely any world building, and every chapter ended like the ending of a book. Reads like a teenagers story from Wattpad.
This entire book is the same conversation over and over again. It's boring even the one time there could have been some excitement it was the same conversation
This book was so good. Couldn't put it down. Briar and her men are so good together. Cant wait to read the next one. Also can't wait to see what happens next.
I couldn't finish the book. While I liked the premise and thought I could just keep reading, there were continuity errors that kept pulling me out and the developing relationships seemed unrealistic.
