Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible Volume 1: Genesis 1–11 Where the Story Begins by Benjamin McGreevy is a structured devotional work focused on providing daily, passage-based reflection through the opening chapters of Genesis.

One of its key strengths is its scope and ambition. Covering Genesis 1–11 in a verse by verse format, the book positions itself as a disciplined and methodical devotional resource, designed for sustained engagement rather than brief reflection.

Another strength lies in its format of consistency and rhythm. A daily devotional structure encourages habit formation in reading and reflection, making it suitable for readers seeking steady spiritual practice grounded in scripture.

The focus on “where the story begins” also gives the work thematic clarity, framing Genesis not only as a historical or theological text but as a foundational narrative for broader biblical understanding.

Substantive, structured, and devotional in nature, Verse by Verse will appeal to readers seeking in depth scripture engagement, church study groups, and individuals committed to long form biblical reflection and daily spiritual discipline.

Slow, thoughtful, and worth the time

I’ve been working on this one for well over a week, but it’s been worth it. This devotional really takes its time walking through each verse and breaking things down in a way that actually makes you pause and think. I liked how it explains context and meaning without feeling rushed. It feels more like a steady study than a quick read, and I appreciated that. If you want something deeper and more reflective instead of surface-level devotionals, this one is definitely worth picking up.

Fascinating!

The amount of wisdom here is immense but writen very clear. So much so anyone could follow and understand the core message from each verse. Very well done strongly recommended ^.^
