Yuma Town, Colorado is a shifter-run Town, cougar shifters to be exact. It's there that Florence Fitzgerald’s world is turned upside down. She hires a new woman named Lacy to work in her coffee shop, but Lacy has a stalker, her abusive ex-boyfriend who won't accept no for an answer. But now Lacy has backup. Frank Everest is Lacy’s grandfather and he's been looking for her. So he also comes to Yuma Town, glad to have reconnected with her. It turns out that Florence and Frank know each other from when they were in the FBI and they really hit it off. Rory Baker is a ranch hand who's very interested in Lacy although she initially puts him off. But there's something about him that makes her change her mind. But before either couple can worry about dating or mating, they need to confront the danger Lacy’s ex-boyfriend brings.
I'm a huge Terry Spear fan and her cougar shifter series is my favorite. This book was a fantastic addition to the series. It was well-written and the characters were well-rounded, both the new ones and those we already know. This was a fast-paced, paranormal romance with action, intrigue, and suspense. I was drawn into this tantalizing tale from the start and kept hooked throughout. Terry pens beautiful love stories blending the world of shifters with the real one, allowing you to escape for a few hours. I loved this book and, as always, I look forward to more from Terry. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order to get the most from things. However, you could read this book on its own.

Super exciting addition to the Heart of the Cougar series
Lacy has moved to Yuma Town to escape an abusive ex-boyfriend and is working in Florence's bakery when she meets Rory. Then Lacy's grandfather Frank shows up to protect his granddaughter. Frank had worked with Florence in the FBI, but they didn't get along well then. Now they have to work together to keep Lacy safe, with help from Rory and all the rest of Yuma Town! Can they do it? Read this to find out!
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has some steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. This is book 12 in the series with 3 shorter stories also at 3.5 Covert Cougar Christmas, 6.5 Cougar Halloween Mischief and 7.5 Catch the Cougar: A Halloween novella. You can read this without reading the others in the series, but you will enjoy the whole thing better if you read them in order. Enjoy this exciting shifter series. Then if you want, check out the various wolf shifter series as well as the white bear, grizzly and jaguar series. The wolf and jaguar series intersect too. Enjoy!
