Enjoyed the second book in the series. Sail Away Home let's Eleamove forward to her bookstore getting construction done. Cadence and Tyler finally make a move in their separation and talk and June finds her singing voice. Miriam and Diane are in the background for this book can't wait to see what comes next.
Once again, the story was OK, but there were even more typos and other errors in this one than in the we first one. It's unbelievable that neither the author nor editors would pick these up. There are even examples of misused (or perhaps made up) words. It all really detracts from the book.
I am enjoying this series. It has interesting characters, amazing friendships and a great small town vibe.
Amazon synopsis: As Eleanor continues to settle into life in Magnolia Shore and works to turn the lower level of her house into a bookstore, the women of her book club face turning points of their own.
For Cadence Meadows, everything has changed since she and her husband, Tyler, decided to separate for a while. Both are determined to make sure their daughter Isabelle feels safe and loved despite the upheaval. But in the quiet moments, Cadence finds herself grappling with the ache in her heart as she tries to decide what she truly wants for her future.
Tyler has always been the love of her life. But after Isabelle was born, a painful struggle to conceive again slowly created distance between them, and that rift has only deepened with time. Can they confront the hurt of the past and find their way back to one another, or is it time to let go?
Meanwhile, Eleanor runs into an unexpected roadblock with her plans to open the bookshop when permit issues arise and she clashes with Winnie Burnett, who is skeptical of the whole project.
And when June learns about an open mic night hosted by Anchor Bistro, she’s both thrilled and terrified at the thought of singing in front of a crowd. With encouragement from Eleanor and the others, will she find the courage to step into the spotlight?
The second book in the Magnolia Shore series spotlights the difficulties in being a single mother and the importance of friends and loved ones. Tyler and Cadence have separated, but still prioritize their energetic daughter, Izzy. Eleanor faces problems with opening her book store out of her home. Young widow June works hard to provide a nice life for her son Benjamin, but has opted out of an easier life for herself. Whenever I read a book by Fiona Baker, I feel like I'm a part of the community, and this book is no exception. I love this series.
Enjoying the continued story of Elenor’s journey, a new and different life, an awesome happiness with a few turns that prove aggravating as her dream gets closer to becoming reality. Only a couple of down sides that bother me, a lack of editing that drives me crazy with missing words and /misplaced words. Also, the characters Elenor and Garret seem so much older than 40ish, I feel like they are 60ish and I cannot get past that fact in how they interact with each other.
This book has just been delightful. The characters are the kind of people you want to be your friends and neighbors. Well, all except one! The situations are totally believable. I wish I lived in this wonderful town! Looking forward to the next book!
What a beautiful story. Tyler put it back together. Children were also the glue. A snooty interloper was put in her place, and a quiet sensation was lured to the stage. To top it all off, a curmudgeon helps save the new bookstore. I loved this story!!
Love this series, this book centers around Cadence and Tyler, they have a daughter Izzy., who have separated. Will they get back together. Eleanor and Garret, will they now be exclusive and June , who is a widow and has a son Benji, will she be brave and do the thing(singing) at open mic night. Read to see this story all ties together. A VERY GOOD Series.
A truly beautiful woman fiction. Full of friendships, new relationships and rekindling one, new businesses getting read to launch new possibilities. This is a great series that's clean, engaging with relatable issues. Enjoy
The second story in a series about a little seaside town in Massachusetts. In this story, the focus is on Cadence and her life. There are 5 friends who are interwoven into the town of Magnolia Shores. Their lives are all different but their friendship is strong. A nice read!
A little too cutesy. Repetitive and overdone dialogue. Characters and circumstances are predictable. Book one was good though. Gonna pass on next in series. Bakers books have always been a favorite - always good reading. I recommend them.
Too many misplaced words. Stopped reading, even though the story seemed interesting and the writing flowed. If this was edited by AI, AI needs some more lessons!
I love the way the stories evolve and also how marriages go thru struggles but you can come out on the other side. As the bok series go, I can not wait to continue reading! Could not put it down, love these girls!!
This series is light-hearted reading, which was what I needed after an intense book. However, there are numerous typos, a main character's name misspelled, and grammar errors. Someone needs to do a better job of editing/proofreading.
While I very much enjoyed the first book in this series, I found this one to be painfully slow and boring. I’ve already bought the third…I’m hoping it’s better.
