Cara Darlington and Jasper Dean have had feelings for one another since high school fifteen years earlier. But the timing was never right. Jasper two years ahead of Cara in school joined the Marine Corps immediately after graduation with the intention of making it his career. So on his infrequent trips back to Honeybrook Hollow to visit family he never attempted to really reconnect with the girl who had helped him pass high school English. Then a career ending injury ends his Marine career. He returns home to Honeybrook Hollow, taking a job tending bar for Paige Darlington, first planning to rehab his injury and re-enlist. Later when its clear his time with the Marines is over he decides he's going to stay. And once that decision is made he decides to pursue the woman who has always held a place in his heart. This is the slowest of slow burn romances until it isn't.
Cara and Jasper both by nature and by life's experiences are extremely private persons. Both have learned not to show too much of themselves, to give too much of themselves. Jasper very slowly, methodically and cautiously woos Cara. Cara equally cautiously accepts his advances. There's a lot of quick furtive glances, quickly hidden smiles and almost accidental touches that linger a moment too long for much of this story. While these two are slowly coming to grips with their feelings for each other there's a third character Eric, a divorced lawyer who has also had feelings for Cara since high school. With the help of her more assertive sister Lucy, Cara had fended off Eric's advances in high school. Now divorced he tries to woo her again. But Cara knows from the start she's not interested in anything more than a very casual friendship with Eric. But she's too nice to flat out tell him to leave her alone and Eric ignores her subtle hints because he wants what he wants. The more she resists his advances the more stalkerish his behavior becomes.
So two thirds or more into their story Jasper and Cara finally share a passionate kiss. And suddenly they go from barely touching to Cara packing an overnight bag to spend the night with Jasper at his cabin. I found the sudden change in their physical relationship a bit shocking. Not because I thought either of them were sexually inexperienced at their age, but because it had taken them so long just to get to the point where they kissed. Lots of tears at this point. Thanks to wise old Grandma Darlington the family matriarch (who has always been Cara's bedrock) advice and Jasper's sister Hannah's advice to him they get to their happily ever after.
While the H.E.A. was sweet I was still left wondering why Cara was so butt hurt because Jasper hadn't filled her in on the details of a job he mentioned he'd been offered but hadn't accepted? So hence what might have been a 4 star rating became a 3 star rating.

Yours to Keep is the fifth book in the standalone series of Honeybrook Hollow this is the story of Cara who runs her Grandfather’s book shop Pine & Page and Jasper who was medically retired from the Marines because of an injured knee, he has moved back to town and is working in Cara’s sister Paige’s bar while he works out what he wants to do.
Cara and Jasper went to High school together where Cara at age fifteen tutored Jasper who was two years older in English, her passionate love of reading eventually rubbed off on Jasper but Cara did not know that. She had a huge crush on Jasper and she had almost convinced herself that it was mutual (it was) but then realised it couldn’t possibly be, when Jasper took off at 18 and enlisted in the marines and left town with barely a goodbye. Many years later Jasper is back in town, Cara has decided to stay single, enjoy her life with the book store and her cats after ending a two year relationship. Cara and Jasper have very awkward stilted conversations with each other initially, Cara turning red anytime he looks at her, Jasper remembering how beautiful she is, but not wanting to upset her, he doesn’t say anything like that to her, he knows he must take everything very slowly. Eventually, they start discussing books and start getting more comfortable around each other. Cara takes him upstairs to her apartment for lunch and meet her cats, a big deal for Jasper. However, all is not rosy, another man who went to school with Cara, Eric has decided that just because he likes Cara that she should like him and she should have higher ambition that the book store! He grabs her wrist when he is nearby, he looks at her like she is his property, someone needs to tell him she is not his!
Cara and Jasper are getting closer and spending more time together and their relationship is developing but Jasper has a secret and he hasn’t shared it with Cara, will this risk their relationship and their happiness?
I loved this book, the first book I’ve read by Nora Everly, definitely won’t be the last! An enchanting and entertaining story that not only has a slow burn second chance romance, with two of the nicest, most likeable characters, but the supporting characters being the sisters and the relationship between Cara and her sisters, the supporting characters being they give her, the way they know her and support her personality and the fierceness with how they protect her from Eric is so beautiful.

Okay, i really wanted to love this book. Sadly it was a bit flat for me.
There are moments of genuine charm unfortunately they get completely buried under a mountain of overdone drama and too much narration. It drags along a lot in places and struggles with pacing.
On the positive side, the author does a great job with cozy, grounded domestic atmosphere, the first mystery night details, the quiet moments with the cats, and the comforting, lived-in feel of the town really shine. When the prose strips away the filler, there are flashes of sharp, authentic character work, particularly in some of the smaller, sensory-driven interactions.
The primary antagonist just isn't? He liked her in high school and they go out once as adults but then he's a bit creepy until BOOM. Mustache twirling scene in the bar towards the end. It felt unearned and nothing happened until 85% of the way through, beside him coming to the bookstore. As an antagonist he was so tepid and it left the book without much drama or conflict.
The entire third-act crisis hinges on a massive overreaction to a completely normal career update by MMC which is treated like a catastrophic betrayal. Because the timeline is so compressed (spanning just a few weeks), trying to anchor this conflict in deep-seated, life-altering history feels entirely unearned. The FMC reaction to the MMC new job, which he accepted before their first date and she "discovers" a few weeks into dating is wild. But crazier, is everyone including the MMC justifying her and saying it was a huge breach on his side. The soliloques and speeches in this part... it was a lot.
Characters in their thirties acted with the exhausting communication paralysis of teenagers and it relies heavily on "telling" rather than showing us their emotional
If you love deeply cozy settings, cats, and low-angst domestic romance where everyone eventually gets their happily-ever-after, it might hit the spot. But for a story about mature adults, the debatable stakes and manufactured communication hurdles made it a tough finish.

Thank you to Nora Everly for an ARC. This was my first Nora Everly and now that it’s over I can’t believe I waited so long!
I’m a reader who struggles with contemporary because the beats don’t always work for me and I can get impatient with characters who believe their feelings are completely separate from sex. In this regard, this book was a breath of fresh air. These are characters whose baseline seems to be that sex is part of falling in love, but definitely not separate from it. They do not treat sex lightly and I appreciated that very much.
This is a book about two quiet, deliberate people who really ruminate on the emotional experience of falling in love and whose “carnal urges” take a back seat to what is going on in their heads and what they feel is right. Neither is in a rush. Neither is insecure in how they feel, but both seem to be comfortable waiting for things to develop at their own pace. When the heat finally does turn up (be prepared to be patient!), those scenes feel real and warm and I never felt as if the limits were being pushed merely to top the prior encounter.
I also appreciated that both characters had humble/relatable occupations in life that weren’t glossy or overblown, and that they were both comfortable and happy living a simple life.
Delightful elements:
1. Teen crushes to adult lovers
2. Cats named for Austen heroes with personalities to match
3. Sooooo much “catnip” for book lovers
4. Cozy, cozy fall vibes
5. Made-for-real-life conflict—no soap opera drama, but very organic internal conflict that is relatable and believable
I’m sure it won’t work for everyone because Nora’s voice is distinct in contemporary romance. However, for me, that unique voice fixed a lot of the problems I normally have with contemporaries! Will definitely read Nora again, especially when I need my book to function as a warm, cozy blanket of goodness that takes time to be sweet and genuine before the big pay off! :)

This is a second chance romance between Jasper and Cara. Cara is a bookstore owner and Jasper is ex-military that left due to a knee injury. So he returns home and work's at Cara's sister's bar while deciding his next move.
They knew each other in high school. She was his English tutor when she was a sophomore and he was a senior. They had mutual crushes on each other, but never verbalized their feelings.
He left to go into the military and she didn't see him again for many years, until his injury had him retire from his military career early.
She stayed in town, takes over her grandfather's store, and creates a cozy bookstore and another boy from school named Eric tries to gain her affection. Eric recently divorced his wife because she didn't want small town living like him. I didn't really see anything wrong with Eric at the beginning and I couldn't understand why she wouldn't give him a chance.
She was pleasant to him and gently let him know she wasn't interested. He seemed to accept her let down and asked if they could still be friends.
I prefer FMCs to have a little more snark and sass, but I understand that was not Cara's character.
I also prefer MMCs to be a little more possessive, but that wasn't part of Jasper's character.
As with many romance books, the couple breaks up--but the reason seemed to be not what I would consider a big deal, and she was way more assertive with Jasper, than Eric, which didn't make sense to me.
There is spice in this book, which I was pleasantly surprised by because it is SLOW burn. They two MCs don't even kiss until 67%.
I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but with the hints of Emmett and Hannah have me curious about a potential story for the two of them. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Genuinely love Cara and who she was as a person
I've been waiting for Cara's story, and it was everything I hoped it would be. I loved her quiet, genuine presence and found myself relating to her in so many ways. Watching her grow in confidence and embrace who she was made her journey all the more meaningful.
The story was a little slow-moving at first, but once it found its stride, I was completely invested in Cara and Jasper's journey. The slower pace gave their relationship time to develop naturally, making their connection feel authentic and rewarding.
Jasper was the perfect match for Cara. He was the strong, silent, supportive MMC who showed his love through his actions. His patience, steadiness, and unwavering support made it impossible not to fall in love with him.
One of the things I love most about Nora Everly's books is the sense of community she creates. It was such a joy to revisit familiar characters while getting to know Cara and Jasper on a deeper level. Every returning character feels like catching up with old friends, and the small-town setting is so warm and welcoming that it makes you wish you could be a part of it.
The romance developed at a satisfying pace, allowing their relationship to grow naturally. There was just enough steam to keep you hooked without taking away from the emotional heart of the story.

There was a point early in Yours to Keep when I thought, Okay… this is a lot of detail. But then I slowed down and started really taking it all in—and suddenly it was like this big, contented sigh of, Oh my gosh. THIS is why I love reading.
Nora Everly’s attention to detail is incredible. The way she describes a place, a moment, or even the smallest thing makes you feel like you’re standing right there inside the story. Once I stopped rushing through those details and started appreciating them, they became one of my favorite things about this book.
And then there’s Cara. ❤️
Her absolute love of books and her desire to help everyone find their perfect story added another layer that I wasn't expecting to love quite so much. There’s this beautiful story unfolding between Cara and Jasper—the ever-so-slow build between them, with just a little suspense simmering in the background—but woven through all of it is this love letter to reading and what books can do for us.
One line in particular stayed with me:
“That was the moment I understood what a book could do. That it could explain something for you that you didn’t have words for yet.”

This one is for the book lovers.
This book is perfect for anyone who loves books that reference other books (particularly classics)! The slow burn is sweet perfection in its wanting, always leaving me unable to put the book down. It is for fans of Mr Darcy, lingering looks, and and fingers brushing.
I love the sisters who are there like a warm hug, not so silently cheering Cara on. It is like Everly has written a book for the sisters who love fiercely, without complaint or expectation. She gets what it is to be a sister, to love someone for who they are, wholeheartedly.

This book is perfect for anyone who loves books that reference other books (particularly classics)! The slow burn is sweet perfection in its wanting, always leaving me unable to put the book down. It is for fans of Mr Darcy, lingering looks, and and fingers brushing.
I love the sisters who are there like a warm hug, not so silently cheering Cara on. It is like Everly has written a book for the sisters who love fiercely, without complaint or expectation. She gets what it is to be a sister, to love someone for who they are, wholeheartedly.

The girls really lucked out with such amazing grandparents. The Darlingtons insisted the girls all know each other. They were always there for the girls. Now the girls are there for each other. Yours to Keep allows the sisterhood to shine as they rally around Cara.
Cara's secret crush from high school is back waking up long buried feelings. Her relationship with Jasper is still in the high school awkward stage when he returns after years in the Marines. This book had me invested in the story from start to finish. And never once lost my attention. I was honestly a little surprised by how involved I found myself with this story. I was laughing. I was kicking my feet in the air. I was blushing. And I fell hard. Cara and Jasper had a connection that felt so honest and real. It was like I was watching two friends instead of reading a fictional book about strangers. There’s such a gentle and endearing build up of their connection that it seemed like this was the only possible way for things to go. I appreciated that the basis of their relationship was in trust and friendship and history, as opposed to just physical attraction. It gave a lot more meaning and depth and strength to what developed between them. This book will leave you with a smile on your face and so much joy in your heart you’ll think it might burst. The ending is everything Jasper and Cara deserve and exactly what I wanted for them. It will have you believe in true love.

They were both cautious with their words, yet their banter was crisp and clever. The writing was engaging, perceptive from each perspective, easy to follow, and immersive.
Papa was a rolling stone and seemed to have single-handedly populated half of the town. The sisters are an interesting mix of personalities, and I am looking forward to getting to know each of them better. They may have had different mothers, but their grandparents provided the magic and glue that made them a family, and I greatly relished that thoughtful detail.

This was tender and sweet, gentle and authentic. The story flowed from high school to years later, from an unspoken crush to deep love. There’s family who are held together by more than blood despite a complicated start. There’s another family facing hardship and tension caused by a father’s despair and a boy who sees leaving as his only means of growth.
It’s small town community and support, with friends who stick together.
Cara and Jasper are beautiful characters. They’re complex and deep. Their journey brings memories, angst, heartache and hope and weaves in cute mysteries, a creeping threat, cats with attitude and a slow burn relationship evolution.

This is the fifth book in the "Honeybrook Hollow" series but it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. This book features Cara Darlington who runs the bookstore in town. She used to tutor Jasper Dean and always had the feeling there was something between them but he left town after highschool and joyned the marines. Now he is back and working in her sister's bar and the chemistry between them is still there.
I enjoyed reading this book. It has relatable main characters and a lovely small-town setting. The story is slow-burn but with a little spice. I personally could not really relate why the thing that seems to stand between them (don't want to spoiler you) was supposed to be such a big deal but maybe that's just me. All in all a lovely second-chance small-town romance.

July 11, 2026I love the soft slow pace of this series - it’s warm, engaging and beautifully written. I was so looking forward to Cara’s story. This book does not disappoint. Jasper is an injured military man and has a history with him, where she tutored him despite being a few years younger than her. Having had a crush on him at the time, Cara is fully aware of Jaspers return to their small town and he starts working at the bar. This book is a glorious slow burn which I loved - another story and another admirer runs along side this and it’s a story that just pulls you in. There’s a little drama, wonderful sisters and a family dynamic that’s so good. Nora writes such great characters - I adored Jasper who is perfect for Cara.

This was the 5th book in the Honeybrook Hollow series. I was excited to read about Cara’s story. She one of the Darlington sisters that you fall in love with in the other four book. Cara owns her families bookshop. She is quiet and reserved. We watch her come into her own. The mystery nights that Cara put on in her bookstore made me want to put one together. It was such a cute idea. As a reader there was a lot of qualities that I could relate to. Then we got to learn about Jasper and watch him transition from the military to civilian life that added a layer to the story. They both a simple and just enjoy the quiet life. I love that they both get to be who they are together. Great book easy read!!

I was really invested in this story from the start, so beautiful and emotional. Jasper and Cara two beautiful private souls who have been together well linked together since school but not together.
The story of two people who clearly have put walls up to protect themselves without allowing people in of the fear of loosing themselves was beautifully written and emotional. Both trying to keep their own peace and quiet whilst not wanting to burden each other. It was lovely to see how they navigated around each other and families helped them through feelings allowing them to stop wasting time and just live in the moment not trying to live in the future that hasn’t happened yet. Very emotional and empowering.

Cara and Jasper's story was a true second chance romance. Cara Darlington tutored Jasper Dean when they were in high school and had a bit of a crush on this upper classman. Jasper had plans to get out of town and join the military after high school and wasn't sure if Cara would fit into those plans so off he went to live his life. Cara did too but now they're both back in Honeybrook Hollow and maybe now is the right time for them to see if they could have something more together. Yours To Keep stands alone in the series but Cara's family is featured throughout the book. It was told from dual POV and was sweet with a bit of heat. Just adorable!

This book gave me all the cozy-fall-vibes and made me even more excited for my favorite (pumpkin spice) season. Cara and Jasper complimented each other perfectly and I do love that they experienced and lived such different lives before finding their way back to each other. Overall, this was a cute and easy read! I enjoyed reading about all the characters in the family as well and now I think I need to go back and read the rest of the series to get my fill.

I really enjoyed returning to Honeybrook Hollow to read Cara’s HEA which admittedly was a journey of self discovery for her and Jasper our MMC. The thing the keeps me reading and returning to these stories is the sisters and family, how they are always there for each other, comforting, encouraging, loving and always, always standing together. This book has it all plus some creative book store events.

I really enjoyed this one. It was an easy read, easy to follow and not too heavy, which made it a lovely book to pick up and get stuck into. I didn’t realise it was part of a collection when I started it, but it works perfectly well as a standalone, so you don’t need to have read the others first.Overall, I really enjoyed the story and found it a lovely, easy going read.
