Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, this book bored me. I tried to read it several times and couldn’t get past the 50% mark. I genuinely wanted to finish it, but I kept losing momentum. That said, I’m giving it 2⭐ because I can see the solid foundation of what the author was trying to do. The character concepts were clear, the relationship dynamics had potential, and the overall intention behind the story came through.
Unfortunately, the dialogue didn’t work for me. I didn’t connect with how the characters spoke or how their interactions were written, and that made it hard for me to stay engaged with the story.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. While I appreciate the chance, this one just wasn’t for me.

On thin ice
By: Kelly Jamieson

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Guilt, passion and proximity oh my!

In the third book in Kelly Jamieson’s The New Jersey Storm series we get Marek and Nicki and all that drama that surrounds them from the internal to external. These two are amazing he’s so kind and puts himself after others and Nicki feels so deeply it might just destroy her. Coming together might everything. The authors writing is flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors blurb: Marek
Playing for the New Jersey Storm I know how to handle the heat – on and off the ice. But nothing compares to Nicki Sullivan. We collided in Vegas: One wild night, no strings and a spark I couldn’t shake. We went our separate ways, but I never stopped thinking about her. When I see she’s involved in an accident that nearly takes her life, I drop everything and drive to New York. She’s broken, shaken… but still the woman who set my world alight. So I bring her home with me — to recover, to breathe… and maybe, to see if that spark between us still burns.

Nicki
After the accident, I can’t face the music or the world. The last person I expect to show up is Marek — sinfully hot, too good to be real, and suddenly my rescuer. I should push him away. Instead, I let him take me to his apartment, where everything feels dangerously safe. But it’s not just comfort — it’s him. The heat between us is impossible to ignore and being with him feels right. But I can’t hide away forever. Falling for him is a risk because this time the ice beneath us may just crack.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know you’re 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

On Thin Ice, written by author Kelly Jamieson, is the third book in the New Jersey Storm series. This book can easily be read as a stand-alone, however, I do recommend the entire series.

Marek is a pro hockey player for the New Jersey Storm. He is in Vegas for the NHL All Star weekend when has the opportunity to hook up with his secret crush, singer Nikki Sullivan. The chemistry is obvious, and the sparks definitely fly when they spend the night together. No strings attached, they both go their separate ways the following day. Even though they try to meet up again, their schedules never line up and they go on with their lives. The only problem is moving on doesn't necessarily mean forgetting, and Marek is struggling to get over that one night with Nikki.

Nikki knew hooking up with Marek was probably a mistake, but there was just something about him that made her throw caution to the wind. Marek is too good to be real, and that scares her. Nikki doesn’t have time for relationships, so she moves forward and focuses on her music career and world tour. Then everything takes a turn for the worse, and the one person to come to her rescue is the one man she has tried so hard to forget.

The story that unfolds is a journey of friendship, love, patience and trust. It is also a story about learning to overcome tragedy and not let it define you. Both of the lead characters have experienced tragedy in their lives, (even though Marek went through his years ago). Nikki is at a loss on how to move on, especially since she is suffering from horrible nightmares. I felt sorry for Nikki because she carries A LOT of guilt on top of always trying to live up to the expectations her parents drilled in her head from a young age. Marek truly is a knight in shining armor! He is determined to help Nikki and he is so caring and patient with her. It is obvious they have feelings for one another, but can they find a way to make it work?

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story of Marek and Nikki. This is another great addition the the New Jersey Storm series.

I would like to thank Boldwood Books and Kelly Jamieson for allowing me to read an ARC of On Thin Ice. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

Quick Summary: A hockey & hearts romance

My Review: On Thin Ice by Kelly Jamieson is book #3 in The New Jersey Storm series. It was released on 2/13/26.

About the Book: "Marek's world is on the ice, Nicki's is on the stage. But their worlds collide in one steamy night in Vegas..."

In My Own Words: A professional athlete gets the chance to meet his crush, a rising pop star who also happens to be attracted to him. The two unravel each other until...

What I Liked:

- I liked the dual POVs. Being able to see how each character processed what was occurring added perspective.

- I liked the connection that the leads shared initially. They seemed to genuinely like one another. They talked and laughed so easily.

- I liked the he falls first/he falls hard vibe. He was a goner.

- I liked that they were able to reconnect and reconcile. That made for a great second-third chance.

- I liked the emphasis on mental health intervention. Therapy proved beneficial for both leads.

- I liked how both leads found their voices after their tragic situations.

- I really liked the song lyrics Nicki wrote. In fact, the whole timing around it was telling.

What I Felt Some Kind of Way About:

- Some of the writing made the characters sound immature. It came across as if they were very...green, for want of a better word.

- Some of the descriptions of actions did not work well. As a result, the flow of the story got interrupted.

- There was an aspect to some of the support relationships that didn't jive for me. Some of what was said didn't ring true, in my opinion. It was challenging to digest.

My Final Say: This was a mixed bag read for me. There were parts of the story that I clearly liked and other parts that I did not. I do think it will appeal to some readers.

This novel reads much like a NA.

Rating: 2.75/5
Recommend: +/-

Thank you to the author, to the publisher (Boldwood Books), and to NetGalley for providing access to an ARC in exchange for an honest critique. The words I have shared are my own thoughts and opinions. I appreciate the opportunity.

Thank you to LbT for having me on this review tour and for my gifted copy of this eoub.

Ok so this is book 3 in this series. I didn’t know that when I signed up I will say I have been binging the others in this series and so so good. This is a series though that can be read as stand alone becuase each one has a different story line. But I highly recommend the first two.

In this book we follow Marek who is a pro hockey player who plays for the storm. He has a one night stand with Nikki in Vegas and it’s unforgettable they go separate ways and Marek can’t stop thinking of her. Well something happens to Nikki and she gets into a bad accident and Marek goes to her just drops it’s all and goes. He then does something that is kinda just not him and brings her back to his apartment to heal and well let’s just say the spark between them is fire and so much happens. Nikki is kinda a mess and I love how sweet Marek is to her and how he sees her for her and she I don’t think is used to that. She is just used to being told from an early age if she wants to succeed in music she has to be driven. I loved this book so so much !!!

I found this book unable to put down just like the others. I love how the team is like family and they all just get along so well.

I love the quick whit and the one liners. They had me laughing out loud. The author does such a good job of not only writing the spice but also the emotion and just a dang good story I love hockey romances I think they a top favorite for me. So this series has been top notch. I also downloaded the audio book and wow so so good !!! I think there needs to be more I want a story for more of the players !!!

Overall definitely go get these books!!! Obsessed!!

I absolutely cannot get enough of my ice hockey romance reads at the moment.
Yes, there's a fair few around ...and yes, I've read plenty - but I can't help grabbing more and so when I spotted this new release coming, I couldn't wait to dive in.

This was a new author for me, but how could we resist this front cover!!
I was a little surprised to see that this is actually the third book in The New Jersey Storm series and yet it's the first I've read!
But I really don't think it mattered too much that I read this book first given we follow a different couple each book.

Here, we meet Marek and Nicki who met in Vegas and enjoyed a steamy night together, going separate ways afterwards.
But neither of them could deny the connection they had formed.

Now, not that I'd wish any accidents on anyone - but I loved this being the thing that made the pair reconnect.
Marek had definitely fallen hard already and absolutely had to step in to protect Nicki when she was in need.

As both Marek and Nicki live lives in the public eye, it's understandable that they have to be wary but it was great to see how they both let down their guards with each other and supported each other through the tough things as well as having fun together.
Yes, the spice was definitely spicing!

I really liked getting to know some of the other characters and seeing how they related to each other.
I'm sure some of these were returning characters and I maybe got a few spoilers here, but I'm not too worried given the nature of this genre and I'm more than happy to head back to the start to catch up on the other books in the series soon.

A great first read and I love this world already.

This is another great story by Kelly Jamieson and the third book in this series. It is very well written, excellent characters, good plot. Overall very well done hockey romance with some drama, trauma and love. You don't need to have read the other books in the series to have read this one but characters from the first books do appear.

Marek is a pro hockey player and has known of Nikki for awhile since she is a well known singer. When the two meet at the All-Star game in Vegas, he has no expectation of anything other than he wants to get to know her and be in her presence. You could say he was a bit obsessed right from the get go with her and probably fell in love not too long after. Nikki is a bit more reluctant. She feels incredibly safe and seen with Marek but she has been told from an early age that she needs to focus if she wants to make it in the music business. And Marek is a distraction. So after All-Stars, the two continue to chat but can never make a meet up work. And then Nikki slowly starts to pull away as she starts to make a name for herself. When a tragic accident happens, Marek is the one that comes to her rescue and gets her through. Again, he is all in but doesn't want to get his heart broken again. Nikki is still struggling with old fears and voices in her head. But can she work through that to take what she really wants? Can she stand up for herself finally? And will Marek support her through it all?

I would say overall this was a 3.5 star read for me. Good emotion throughout the book I thought. Definitely loved Marek and his commitment to Nikki. Struggled a little bit more to connect with Nikki and her character.

On Thin Ice is an enjoyable romance between a Marek, a star hockey player and Nikki, an up and coming pop star, who meet at the hockey All Stars game, and have an instant connection. They spend a couple of wild nights together, but then can't figure out a way to balance the demands of their demanding professional lives and make room for a long distance relationship.

A year later, Marek is trying to move on. Nikki's career is soaring and she chose to prioritize it over any possible relationship with him. When an accident happens at one of her concerts, though, and she's emotionally shaken, Marek jumps right in to take care of her and help her heal. This time, can they finally figure out how to make a relationship work?

The connection between them had a touch of insta-love, but their relationship grew and strengthened as Marek helped Nikki heal. He was a bit of a player, but had emotional depths also and had no hesitation in realizing that Nikki was it for him. Nikki had more of an emotional arc in realizing how much self-inflicted stress she was subjecting herself to, both from the accident as well as from her drive to succeed in the music profession she loved. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

This felt like a short book, I read it in about 1 day, which is not the norm for me. However, unfortunately I didn't read it fast because it was all consuming, so no tingly feelings for this one :(
This is both a sports and a celebrity romance (I love celebrity romance, especially with musicians), and it was cute but not all that.
Marek is a hockey player and Nikki a famous singer. They meet at an event in which they both participate, spend one night together and are basically done for. Marek kind of falls first, but the feelings are there for both, but sadly after he tries to act on that, Nikki's insecurities and current priorities in life don't let her follow up and for a year they aren't in contact with each other, even thought they're pining.
After a tradegy at one of her concerts, Nikki ends up with PTSD, anxiety attacks, and some depression, and Marek is the one who ends up taking care of her.
I enjoyed the characters' honest conversations, and the way Nikki's symptoms and feelings were shown, and how she evolved from denial to seeking help, after recognizing that everything was indeed not okay.
The thing I liked the least was Nikki's "refusal" to admit her feelings for Marek, even after he shows her how much he cares.

Tropes:
- Sports Romance / Celebrity Romance
- Insta Love

3.5 ⭐'s rounded up

This is your typical hockey romance. Marek is a professional hockey player. Nikki is a well-known singer who Marek has been aware of for a while. When Marek is playing in the All Star game in Las Vegas, he meets Nikki in person.

Marek definitely falls first for Nikki, he wants to get to know her and spend time with her. While Nikki is more reserved and cautious about developing anything because she has been programmed to believe that she cannot have any distractions from her music career. After their night together they part ways, while also continuing to communicate but never able to arrange seeing each other in person again.

Nikki starts to slowly fade away as her popularity increases. When something goes terribly wrong for Nikki, it is Marek who comes to support her however she needs. He really does exude that white knight like personality. You can absolutely tell that he is in love with her. Nikki struggled to feel worthy of him especially after the trauma that she experiences but you can tell that she really did care about Marek.

Nikki's parents definitely took part in how she viewed things, but I was happy when it turned around and the trust for each other started showing through.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for sharing this story with me early. All of my opinions are my own.

Kelly Jamieson is back with the third in her New Jersey Storm hockey series and this time, our hero is Marek, the brother of the "brother's best friend" in book 1, Crossing the Line. I happen to love the sports star/pop sensation trope (luckily for me, it's rise in popularity due to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce) and this one does not disappoint.

I also really appreciate that Jamieson is clearly a thoughtful author who wants to make sure her fictional hockey team is aware of a lot of the toxic masculinity that exists in real hockey. The book is thoughtful about rape culture, as well as having pretty significant subplot about dealing with trauma and mental health. As much as hockey romances can be an escape, I appreciate that the book is thoughtful about real world issues that impact readers as well.

I do wish that we had gotten to spend a bit more time as them as an official couple. The book spends a lot of time with both main characters healing enough to be in a relationship, but I really would have enjoyed seeing both characters learning to balance work, actually being together and working on their mental health. But this was an easy, thoughtful read and I'd recommend it to fans of Sarina Bowen and Peyton Corrine. Thanks to Boldwood Books for an early copy.

"Maybe life isn’t all fun and games, but happiness is important. I have fun with you. You make me happy.”

This is the third part of the series but works as a standalone. I've liked this series so far; there are always some heavier themes and it's not only easy and fluffy romance. In this book FMC Nikki is healing from a trauma and I liked how it was portrayed. Healing takes time and it's not easy.

I didn't feel the characters' chemistry very well in the beginning and somewhere in the middle I got a bit bored. I think the book got better towards the ending, though!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Pov: dual, 1st person
Heat: open doors
Pacing: instalust
Communication: both miscommunication and healthy communication
Third act:
Ending:

Main characters:
* Cinnamon roll hero
* Damsel in distress
* Friends to lovers
* Millionaire

What?
* Dirty talk
* Forced proximity
* Grand gesture
* Mutual pining
* One night stand turned more
* Second chance
* Sports romance: hockey

Drama?
* Difficult past

Other vibes:
* Mental health rep
* The one that got away
* ”We’re just friends”

3 1/2 STARS!

One night turns into forever in the latest visit to the New Jersey Storm! I'm torn on my thoughts about this book. I loved Marek, absolutely loved him ... his heart, his kindness, his love for his quirky sister, his willingness to do anything Nicki needed to feel whole again. But I didn't love certain ways that Nikki strung him along, and I most importantly didn't love the author's tirade on toxic masculinity in hockey that was woven into the story. I read fiction particularly to get away from the ugliness of life, not to have it preached from one person's point of view under the guise of a hobby meant to be enjoyment. Whether I agree wholeheartedly or not, this was not the time and place because it's an entertainment field. It's not the typical style of this author, whom I have read a lot from and always enjoyed ... but it's enough to make me second guess picking up the next book because I'm not sure what it will be filled with now. Disappointing for sure. Overall, I feel like he put his all into their relationship and she put about 50% and we really needed more time with them once they truly were all in to get a feel for her depth and investment in them after all was said and done.

On Thin Ice by Kelly Jamieson had a strong premise and kept me engaged, but it didn’t fully deliver for me. The story follows Marek, a professional hockey player, and Nikki, an up-and-coming pop star, who meet at an NHL All-Star Game and share a passionate one-night stand before losing touch for nearly a year.

When something unexpected happens during Nikki’s tour, Marek reappears in her life, showing up for her when she really needs it. I appreciated how the book handled Nikki’s trauma and healing — it felt realistic and thoughtfully portrayed, and it was refreshing to see that recovery isn’t quick or easy.

That said, parts of the plot felt predictable, and I found myself wishing for more depth, especially when it came to Marek and Nikki’s motivations and emotional payoff. They’re likable characters with good chemistry, but some moments felt a bit underexplored.

Overall, it’s an enjoyable and easy read with some strong emotional moments, just not one that really stood out for me. A solid pick if you’re in the mood for a hockey romance with a touch of angst.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher & the author for the eARC, all opinions are my own.

DNFing at 17%. I physically could not read this book anymore, I’m so sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️🙈

From the first chapter, heck even the first sentence or two it is VERY insta love with little to no explanation as to why they are so quick to want to immediately spend the night together. This is not very helpful to a reader who has never read a book by this author unfortunately.

An example of this would be in the second chapter ( after the meet each other for the first time) the MMC spent the entire night “jacking off to thoughts of her” idk about you but that sentence gave me the major ick and unfortunately there really was no coming back from it.

Even more so the book just felt like it lacked romance, there was no tension or moment of the characters deciding they could not deny their feelings for each other anymore. The first 15% of the book is them meeting and then sleeping with each other for the first time. It did not give off the type of book vibe I get when reading a romance novel.

This book had everything I thought I would like in a book. This makes me sad but I just cannot continue reading.

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc copy!

I loved Marek and Nikki. They both had such deeply hidden scars from traumatic experiences that they didn’t realize they were sabotaging their own happiness. When they meet they are instantly drawn to each other, I liked how the author let the reader know Marek was a nice guy and wouldn’t hurt her). They spent a glorious weekend together but went their separate ways. A comment he made to her made her push him away. He was hurt that she stopped talking to him.

When a horrible catastrophe happened to Nikki, Marek is beside himself with worry and this is where their story truly begins. There was so much emotion in these pages that I was never sure who I felt for more. He tried everything to show her how he felt, but she seemed to push him away at every chance. She felt she had to be perfect and really struggled with being happy after the tragedy.

I loved his sister and the talk she gave him (it was much needed). I was also happy that she talked to someone to help her through the trauma. Even the conversation she had with her parents was needed. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Marek and Nikki meet at the NHL All Star Game, but a one-night only leads into a year of yearning, before a tragedy will have Marek being the healer Nikki really needs.

Nikki is used to putting everyone else first and pleasing others before herself, but Marek will teach her that you only live once, and it's time to focus on what you want.

Jamieson always has me grinning from ear to ear, I loved Marek, and how he is seen as this strong, masculine athlete, but in reality, he is a big, cuddly teddy bear. He really is a woman's dream.

I felt for Nikki, she was being pulled in so many different directions, it was great to see her self-healing and confidence growing, and for her to stand up for herself for what she wants out of life. I could relate to this so much, as I am sure many can, that it's hard to find the balance and a working life can get in the way of our true wants.

Another great addition to this stand-alone series, and I look forward to what the next instalment brings.

Marek meets Nikki in Vegas, and they share one unforgettable night together. They exchange numbers, but Nikki’s life as a famous musician quickly gets in the way, and they lose touch—though neither ever stops thinking about the other.

Almost a year later, Marek hears about a frightening incident at one of Nikki’s concerts and panics, needing to know she’s okay. When they reconnect, Nikki is struggling with PTSD and finds comfort and support in Marek.

But Nikki’s career pulls her back to Los Angeles, while Marek is based in New York. With distance, fame, and healing standing between them, they must decide if what they found in Vegas is worth fighting for.

This was a shorter read at around 280 pages, but it still packed in a lot of story. Marek is an adorable ice-hockey-player Labrador, and I loved him instantly. Nikki is a famous singer who is constantly judged and made to feel guilty about every decision she makes. She’s always trying to please everyone else while forgetting herself.

The ending was really lovely and wrapped the story up in a satisfying way.

3.75 rounded to 4 stars for me.

One night, that it all for Nikki and Marek to feel a connection.Without seeing each other for a year,Marek could not let her to deal with horrible event by herself.Nikki is staying at his place now,and both need to figure out their feelings for each other,as well as deal with some hurts from the past.
Will Nikki ever sing again?
Will Marek let her go?

It was a emotional and sweet hockey romance,that engaged me from the beginning.Nikki is so full of guilt and questioning herself that Marek is just what she needs,sweet and patient.The romance is spicy,but it have also a emotional elements,no matter how famous you are,you still a human being,and author got the picture of them struggling perfectly.I could feel their pain and questioning themselves.Great first book for me by this author,and hope to read Carson story in the future.

I would recommend this book for sport romance fans,it was just so sweet.

Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review “On Thin Ice.”

As a huge fan of Kelly Jamieson’s hockey novels, I was thrilled to read this one. In “On Thin Ice,” we meet Nikki, a singer-songwriter on the verge of superstardom, and Marek, a player for the New Jersey Storm. Readers may recall Marek as the twin brother of Mabel from the first book in the series. They share a passionate night, but despite their connection, they drift apart. However, a tragedy brings Marek back into Nikki’s life, and he gradually helps her heal while also growing closer romantically. I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional journey each character embarked on. Nikki, in particular, underwent significant growth throughout the story, and I was captivated by her emotional struggles and interactions with the other characters, especially her parents. I genuinely hope there are more stories in this series, particularly those focusing on Archie and Ayla. Overall, I highly recommend “On Thin Ice” to readers of sports romance, and I rate it 4 stars.

I’ll never turn down one of Kelly’s books. I’ve been reading her for years and she’s skilled in the hockey romance department.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. Marek is the perfect book boyfriend. The feelings he has for Nikki, even without seeing her for almost a year, are so sweet. What started as a one night stand turned into so much more for him. Nikki fought her feelings for him for far too long. Her career and the pressure from her family and management team were more than she could handle, the thought of adding a relationship, especially a long distance one, was way too much for her.

I love the found family aspects of this book. Marek and her sister are key to the story, but the rest are his teammates and his sister’s friends, a world Nikki isn’t used to. There’s really something special about the people you choose to have in your life instead of the family you’re born into.

Thank you Love Books Tours, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for my copy of this book.

2.5 ⭐️

The premise of this book initially really intrigued me, and on paper it felt like it had all the ingredients I usually enjoy. I’m always up for a spicy romance, but unfortunately this one just didn’t fully land for me.

While there were moments I liked, I struggled to feel truly convinced by the romance. The chemistry between the characters didn’t develop as strongly as I’d hoped, which made it harder to fully invest in their relationship. The spice was there, but without a deeper emotional connection, it didn’t have the impact I was expecting.

That said, I can see how this book could work better for other readers, especially those who enjoy lighter, quicker romance reads. It just didn’t quite deliver what I personally look for in this genre.

I’m still grateful to have had the opportunity to read and review this title, and I’d like to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

Falling hard and fast
Hockey player Marek met Pop singer Nikki and there was instant chemistry, him already smitten before they met.
Spending a short amount of time together he walked away with some pretty big feelings for her.
She however could not forget him but her up and coming career got in the way so nothing came of them as a would be couple.
A tragedy has them finding their way back to each other and whilst Nikki heals there is a lot of emotional distress she needs to work through.
I really like how sweet and wonderful Marek was to Nikki but at times found myself not liking Nikki’s character much.
As the story went on I warmed to her and found as they worked through a few issues I began to like them together more and more.
This was an enjoyable sweet but also spicy story of two busy people with different career paths trying to make room for each other in their busy lives.
Thank you to Kelly Jamieson, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this story.

My favorite part.of this story is Marek. He basically agrees to play in the All Star Game because Nikki will be there. Nikki is a pop star who has caught Marek's attention. He pretty much fangirls all over the place for Nikki. I love that he really fell before they ever met. He might not believe in love and may have a skewed outlook on life with his short life ideas, but he fell hard and fast. They struggle to make a relationship out of a steamy and spicy one night stand and of course they fail. I think he is way more into it than she is, but to be fair her entourage puts a ton of pressure on her. I love how Marek cares for Nikki and tries to bring her out of her trauma by allowing her to feel, just feel all.of her emotions and just be and self soothe and self heal in her own time and way. I do love Mabel. I love Marek's big gesture. I love his trauma healthy style. I also really like the humor that is sprinkled into their story. 3.75 Stars

Pop star meets hockey player. Hockey player has huge crush on said pop star. The two hook up in Vegas, and he/Marek wants to pursue a relationship, but she/Nikki is career focused and not wanting to distract herself or do a long distance thing.

When a tragedy brings the two together again, Marek is there for her however she needs it & provides the safe space and privacy Nikki needs to heal.

I struggled a bit with this story. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the FMC saying no to the relationship, then the MMC was the one that needed to come around to deal with his relationship hangups & make the grand gesture. I felt like the bigger hangups were on her side & to me, she seemed like the one who needed to do a little more growing and learning between the two of them.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy.

On Thin Ice is NHL player Marek and singer and superstar Nikki’s beautifully written story and it’s book three in The New Jersey Storm Series. From the moment these two meet in Vegas sparks fly but it was only meant to be one night……..
When tragedy strikes on Nikki’s tour she heads home to New York and it’s Marek who comes knocking on her door. What follows is a heartwarming journey as he does his best to help her out of her depression. Problem is everyday he spends with her has him falling more in love but she still believes she is not worthy his feelings so will he let her walk away again.
I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Marek and my heart broke for Nikki but it was watching them both show their vulnerability as they grew stronger together that took this book to the next level.

I personally loved this book! Nikki and Marek meet in such a cute way and though it wasn’t 100% by chance I loved their interactions and felt their connection from the start!

I won’t go into alot of detail because I love for other readers to discover what I loved in a book the same way I did. What I will say is that I liked that Marek became not only a rock for Nikki but her safe place. He saw her pain and provided a space for her to find her peace and in return she gave him his spark back. Such a beautiful story that hit on some tough themes.

I feel I think I know what player is next and if so I can’t wait for it because each of these books is filled with so much heart and lots of love!

Many thanks to Boldwood Books, Author Kelly Jamieson, and NetGalley for the ARC of On Thin Ice in exchange for an honest review.

On Thin Ice was a hockey romance that started off fast and steamy and then pans a year down the line to work through the difficult aspects of life. Marek is an alpha male hockey star that is in touch with his emotional side by working through tragedy that hit him early in his hockey career. With this intelligence, he is able to help Nikki, a famous singer, work through a devastating accident that occurs which challenges her to overcome crippling fear.

The spice in this book is HOT HOT HOT, but doesn't overwhelm the novel and character growth. If you are looking for a sports hockey romance with a series, recommend the New Jersey Storm Series.

4.5 stars. Love Marek and Nikki’s story! Kelly Jamieson knows how to write a hockey romance. Not too much actual hockey in this one but that’s still okay. These characters are what make this one so enjoyable. It’s emotional, sweet and fun and honestly when they are together it is healing for both of them and I just love that!
It takes a bit for them to figure everything out with his career and hers and they are apart for a while more than once, but I love how we know he fell for her instantly and he is not okay without her. And he doesn’t know it is the same for her. Something happens and it is a horrific thing for her and he knows he needs to go be with her and help her so he just does, despite the distance that had been between him. He’s amazing!
Such a wonderfully romantic book! I loved it!

3.5 stars for me

I liked how Marek and Nikki met and bonded but for some reason this didn't grab me as much as other books I'd read by the author. We still had more of an emotional punch with the story but it didn't grip me and I wasn't always fully engaged. Nikki's fame didn't quite ring true and it was strange how Marek had this big defining moment in his life that so few people knew about or mentioned, or even queried with regards his scar.

Another small niggle was the cover doesn't match Marek at all. No beard, no shaggy hair. Not sure why as it's a small thing that's so easy to get right or closer to the description...
