Dani M. Ward lives in a state with more corn than people. As a kid, she daydreamed about living in a world with vampires, witches, and fairies. Dani realized later supernatural creatures hide in plain sight, so she looks for them everywhere she goes. When she's not hunting for supernatural creatures, Dani is chugging coffee and writing. Dani writes fantasy romance for lovers of diverse fiction. Her characters include strong women saving themselves with swoon-worthy men who stand beside them. She loves sass, spice, and smut. When she's not writing, she can be found trying to wrangle her two children, watching Asian dramas with her two poodles, or playing video games with her husband. Dani enjoys reading, napping, and pairing wine with food. She has a BA in Anthropology and is getting her MFA in Creating Writing. She's hoping to catch a demon; so she doesn't have to pay her student loans back.

honestly, i had no idea what to expect going into this book. i just wanted to continue my kindle streak, saw it sitting in my TBR, and jumped in not even realizing it was the second book in the series until after i finished.

but BABY, this was an experience. very much “you’re mine and i’m never coming up off you” energy from beginning to end.

if you love unhinged, slightly chaotic, possessive men that will do absolutely whatever they feel is necessary for what’s theirs, this is definitely your type of book.

after kofi and che’s initial misunderstanding in the beginning, that man basically said, “yeah no, you’re mine today, tomorrow, and forever.” from beginning to end, this man was absolutely INSANE and down bad for che in the best/worst way possible.

from this man turning into the damn FBI trying to find any type of information about her in the beginning to purposely busting her pipes so she’d have to come stay with him. a little much? absolutely. but kind of cute in like a committed sort of way.

and kofi was not shy AT ALL about protecting what was his because the way that man had zero thoughts in his brain when it came to putting his hands on her ex-husband every chance he got. “if i’m going to go to jail for assault, i should get my money’s worth. they’ll charge me for a bunch of shit anyway.” like SIR!? that man was not worried about jail, charges, NOTHING! because one thing kofi is gonna do is crash out over che and make it known that no man better ever touch her or try to push up on her.

kofi was bout it bout it! and his brother, khalil? yeah, now i gotta go back and read the first book immediately.

but somehow while being completely unhinged, possessive, chaotic, and ready to fight at all times, kofi really did love che down. he genuinely wanted to give her the world, make her life easier, and let her just sit back, look pretty, and be taken care of.

now… to these other washington brothers. i will be seeing y’all real soon!

This was a fast-paced, borderline chaotic instalove story that will have you hooked but also make you side eye the entire situation. After a disastrous first impression, Kofi basically said “yeah…you’re mine” and never looked back. He was definitely possessive and slightly unhinged. The book also delivers on the spice. That man did not believe in personal space, boundaries, or taking a break. Kofi would not stay off that woman, and he was nasty with it too.

Anyway, the story itself never dragged, and if you lean into the chaos instead of questioning it too hard, it’s a fun ride. This book will work best for readers who enjoy fast-paced instalove, don’t need much realism in relationship development, and can roll with a possessive, slightly unhinged MMC without overanalyzing his behavior.

Give me a man who’s a little unhinged but owns his mess, and I’m eating it up every single time. I picked this up wanting something short, quick, and chaotic and Kofi delivered. After a horrible first meeting, he realizes he’s met his person and decides no misunderstanding is about to mess that up. And when I say he goes all in… I mean immediately. Like, “we go together now” energy, full throttle. That’s my favorite trope to read honestly!! When the man just decides and steps straight into caretaker mode. Mind made up, no hesitation. Sir said, “you’re mine and I got this,” and honestly? Yes. Throw in some crazy ex drama for extra chaos and I was fully entertained. And the spice? It’s there. If you’re into a little breeding kink, this will definitely hit. If you’re looking for something short, sweet, chaotic, and packed with a possessive man who goes all in—this is it.
