She thinks he's a pompous bore. He thinks she's impossibly stubborn. They're both wrong—and right. The last person Isabel Godderidge expected to see at the ruins was Victor Dalrymple, and the last thing she wanted was for him to discover that she paints—brilliantly, passionately, secretly. The wealthy gentleman is only in the neighborhood long enough to improve his estate and move on. Victor Dalrymple knows he's not what ladies dream of, especially Isabel. She's too tall. He's too short. She's too passionate. He's too proper. Yet all he wants is to get along with his neighbors and possibly make Pittsfield his permanent home. When Isabel's family cannot host the harvest fair, Victor's estate becomes the only option to save the thirty-year tradition. As Victor and Isabel begin to understand each other, a rainstorm traps them in a pavilion. Alone. The vindictive Sir Lightwood catches them and demands a ransom to stay silent about their "ruin." Can they avoid blackmail and a scandal? A Regency romance of scandal, secrets, and discovering that the one who sees your hidden heart might be exactly who you need.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this book! I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time! I was laughing, and sighing, giggling, grinning, chuckling, swooning... ALL THE EMOTIONS!!! At one point I had to stop reading to go get ready for a banquet. I didn't want to. Hahaha! I messaged the author and said I was tempted to not go because I was so completely immersed in Isabel and Victor's story! They completely pulled me in. Isabel is definitely a spitfire and a character that was not afraid to speak her mind. Poor Victor was kept on his toes from the first moment they met. I just loved them so much!
The journey they go through as they find themselves interacting more and being placed in a position where they have to plan a long held tradition together brings them to understand each other better. They realize their mistakes in making a judgment before they should have. But initial impressions can definitely have a lasting effect. For me watching that journey and growth between characters is one of my favorite parts of reading a book. I love that journey! I love the growth! I love the introspection that takes place and realization that the individual is wrong and needs to fix it and change. None of us are perfect and it's an ever going process of learning throughout our lives in navigating relationships and they are all different.
Victor is a gentle character and trying to find his place. He makes mistakes but is quick to fix them or help others. Isabel is a great character as well, even if she has some strong opinions for some things. She is very loving and wants to help others as well. Together these two can accomplish great things! I loved them! I loved watching their friendship develop and the chemistry... Oh My!!! It was perfection! When they start realizing what is happening between them I was smiling even bigger and giggling! Hee Hee!!! Seriously major happy sighs with this one!!!
If you've read the previous books, you're familiar with the Lightwood family. They are not the main characters in this story but the neighbors of Isabel and Victor. We still see them and the happenings in their lives which keep building towards the next Lightwood sister's story. And there are some great foreshadowing tidbits! Eeekkk!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!
This is a series that I highly recommend and encourage you to read them in order. Each one builds upon the other!
Content: Clean. Some sweet kisses and nothing further.
