The Illusion of Us
What if the love of your life was only playing a role?I wish someone had warned me.
Not about the obvious signs.
Those would have been easy to recognize.
I wish someone had told me that emotional abuse doesn't begin with screaming or bruises. It begins with charm. With promises. With a man who makes you believe you've finally found the love you've always deserved.
That's how my story started.
If someone had looked at my wedding photos, they would have seen a woman completely in love.
They wouldn't have seen the sleepless nights.
The manipulation.
The lies that became so normal I stopped questioning them.
Or the quiet moments when I wondered if I was losing my mind.
Because he didn't start by hurting me.
He started by loving me.
He made me laugh.
He made me feel safe.
He made me believe I was the luckiest woman in the world.
By the time the lies started...
I already loved him.
I never imagined I'd become a woman who questioned her own memories. Who apologized for things she didn't do. Who smiled in public while silently falling apart behind closed doors.
Everyone thought I had the perfect marriage.
No one saw the truth.
People ask why women stay.
The better question is...
How do you leave someone who slowly convinced you that you couldn't survive without them?
I am Alivia, and this is my story!
The Illusion of Us is an unflinching novel of abuse, control, and sexual coercion. Alivia thought she found the love of her life. But she was wrong.
For readers of Behind Closed Doors, Verity, and It Ends with Us.
Content depicts psychological abuse, gaslighting, infidelity, and sexual coercion. Based on true events.

Loved this Book
This was truly one of the saddest most beautiful books I have ever read. At times I cried and other times I was so mad I wanted to jump into this book to tell this poor soul she was never the problem and she is enough. Sadly many of us have to learn the hard way that love is not supposed to come with expectations and conditions.

Read more like a friend telling you her life. Very real. Enjoyed every minute of it.
I'll be looking forward to more books from this author.
