If you're in the mood for a fun, spicy sports romance, this is a solid pick.
It's your standard forbidden sports romance where you get involved with your teammate and accidentally fall in love. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's an enjoyable read.
The dialogue and plot flow really well, and the smooth writing makes it easy to follow.
Both characters are very lovable. If you had to pick a friend to lose your virginity to, Tyler is a solid choice 😂 He's kind, attentive, and respectful. His internal turmoil surrounding his family really makes you feel for him, and I loved watching Colby help Tyler reconnect with himself instead of just following his father's expectations.
This ends on a happy for now note. It's definitely a good place to stop where you feel satisfied with where things are, but I'm still looking forward to the second book!

09/24/26 - Today is release day!
Colby & Tyler left me with a full heart and tears in my eyes.
Though the author's writing isn't my favorite, Colby McKay & Tyler Beckmann absolutely stole my heart and I read every word for them.
Sometimes finding your person and falling in love can be easy & sweet & perfect (almost), especially when Colby’s public life definitely won't be and Tyler’s struggled enough with his own family.
This really is tooth-achingly sweet AND smutty! a very nice combo.
As I said, I don’t mesh well with her writing - personal preference.
And tbh it says a hell of a lot that I stayed for her characters, I think.
The only other downside is that I do sorta think the “conflict” at the end was a little out of character.
I expected something like this, so it’s fine.
I just wish it was something else, something they could have overcome together.
I don’t want to spoil anything, so I hope that will make sense to those that have read or eventually read.
I will absolutely be reading the next book, Rookie Secrets that continues their story.
And this will be a book I read again, as well.
I really love Colby & Tyler and it’s nice fall into a story where love doesn’t have to hurt (too bad) to get it right.

Ok, I loved the first version of these guys in their anthology short, but this expanded version of them is AMAZING!!!
I love Colby and Tyler and I can't wait to see what happens in the final part of this duology.
Colby is the sweetest and I absolutely kept picturing him as Will Smith! I loved his friendship with Stassie and his relationship with his parents and his sister. He has the weight of the hockey world on his shoulders and I really liked how humble and honest he was with the people he trusted. Seeing him struggle with the weight of expectation was hard, but Tyler was the perfect person to be his absolute rock.
Tyler was also having his own struggles but with his turbulent family dynamic and the way his dad had planned his whole life out for him. I will never understand parents that do that! I wished Tyler had that same support as Colby, but Colby is there for him and encourages him to really look at what makes him happy and what he actually wants from life. I did like that the relationship with his brother improved by the end of this book, and I'm excited to see what Tyler plans to do next. I also want to see more of Tyler's friendships with Liam and Piper too.
There were definitely some heartache inducing moments in this book though, and I absolutely bawled when Colby got out of the car.... My poor heart!!!
I also loved the intro to Beau who'll be in the co-write between Jodi and Garrett Leigh - can I just take a moment to absolutely fan girl squeal at this announcement!!! I LOVE Garrett's characters and her immersive story world, and to have that combining with Jodi's sounds SO FUCKING AWESOME!!!! Can't wait!

I didn't read the earlier incarnation of this when it appeared in a charity anthology so I'm just basing my thoughts on this expanded story.
That it's a duology is something I wasn't aware of and it does make sense that Jodi wanted to devote more time to telling Colby and Tyler's story as they're only 19 and 22 when this book takes place.
This first instalment does wrap up the opening part of their relationship without leaving any cliffhangers and it's a very definite HFN but there is so much more to be told and I'm very much intrigued by what comes next.
As for Rookie Moves, it's a sweet story about falling in love for the first time, about sexual exploration and college life, but - as with everything Jodi writes - it also looks at more heavier issues.
In this instance, it's the unreasonable pressure put on young sports stars who have obvious talent from childhood and into their college careers. It's about expectations, feelings of inadequacy and fears that you will let people down.
There's also the added complications of being gay and, while Jodi's universe is a much kinder one than our reality, there's still pressure on being out and Colby's only a teenager falling for his first crush.
The teammate element brings more complications and there's plenty of angst to stop this ever becoming a sickly sweet first love and all is well narrative.
Overall I enjoyed reading about Colby and Tyler falling in love, they had a real connection and chemistry which coupled well with Ty's desire to protect Colby from the pressures of journalists and other outside influences.
In turn, Colby provided Ty with another perspective on whether he had to return to Arizona and work for his dad, something he'd been expected to do without any input, rather than try and find his own passion.

But seriously, this is a very heartwarming story, with two totally green-flag MCs and feelings so pure and genuine that I honestly don’t have any remarks 🩵
My heart ached for both of them; Colby was so overwhelmed by the excessive attention while feeling so alone - and honestly, this isn’t a topic we see very often. And Tyler, sweet soul, I am so glad he finally stood up for himself 🙌
The plot and the writing flowed effortlessly and beautifully, and while we did get a fair share of yearning, especially towards the end, the overall vibe was absolutely positive 🩵
I mean, who says this 🥹:

Like the baby-making gods put every beauty gene they had in their arsenal into Colby’s DNA.”

Nothing beats a sports romance when the chemistry is this easy and the couple is this lovable. Colby and Tyler had such an easy connection, and watching their friendship slowly turn into something deeper felt natural, sweet, and full of chemistry. Their arrangement gave them plenty of fun and tension, but it was the genuine care between them that really pulled me in.
Colby was so easy to root for as he dealt with the pressure of being seen as hockey’s next big thing, while Tyler was trying to figure out how much of his future actually belonged to him. I especially liked how they became a safe place for each other. Tyler was always looking out for Colby when everything became overwhelming, while Colby encouraged Tyler to step away from the life his family had planned for him and choose what would actually make him happy. Their firsts together were incredibly sweet too, and their chemistry definitely delivered.
There was a lovely balance of sweetness, emotion, and spice throughout, and I appreciated how positive their relationship felt even when they were dealing with their own struggles. The happy-for-now ending felt satisfying while still leaving me excited to see where their story goes next.
Overall, this was a warm, easy-to-love sports romance with two characters I was very happy to spend time with.

This was such a sweet, low angst read, with lovable characters and amazing chemistry. It gives a fresh twist to a few familiar tropes, friends with benefits (with some special tutoring throw in there), and teammates to lovers, and blends them together surprisingly well.
Colby has been anointed hockey’s next big thing, and that pressure follows him everywhere, even into the single year of college he decides to try before the draft. Tyler is one of the few people who looks past the hype and sees the person underneath all those expectations. Their relationship grows out of a genuine friendship and one risky agreement, and no matter how determined they are to keep things casual, feelings grow fast.
I especially loved that both characters have their own thing going. Colby has to grow thicker skin as he confronts the less glamorous side of living his hockey dream. Tyler, meanwhile, has to stand up to his family and figure out what he actually wants from his life instead of letting other people decide for him. That gives the book more weight than the familiar teammates-to-lovers and secret-relationship setup might suggest. I was fully invested in them as a couple because their connection feels safe and sincere, not just convenient.
My only real complaint is that the internal conflict repeats itself in places. I would’ve liked to see more of their lives beyond their private little bubble, especially since both of them are dealing with pressures that could have added even more texture to the story.
Overall, this is a warm, heartfelt read that delivers exactly what you’d want from a queer sports romance. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some nice, character-driven love story.
One heads-up, though: this is the first book in a duet, so the story ends on a happy-for-now note. I didn’t know that going in, and it caught me by surprise.

Well, damn, Jodi. You’ve done it to me again. Somehow, you managed to make me emotional, happy, obsessed, and completely unwilling to function like a normal human, all in one book. Honestly, I have questions. How do you keep doing this to me?
I love this book. I loved every single page of it. I loved Tyler and Colby, their growth, their chemistry and all the little moments in-between that made me fall even harder for them. I am so ridiculously attached to these characters, and I can’t wait for more. Like, this was only the beginning of their story THERES MORE?! Excuse me while I stare into the distance because now, I have to wait for the next part. I’m fine. It’s fine. And yes, I already know it’s going to be a long wait. But don’t worry, Jodi. I have a solution. I’ll just read it again.
Actually speaking of, I’ve already read it twice. And somehow, instead of getting it out of my system, I just fell even more in love with them the second time around. Don’t judge me, my coping mechanism is rereading books until the characters become permanent residents of my brain. Very healthy. Very normal.
It’s sweet, it’s spicy and it has so much heart. It gets under your skin and before you know it, you’re emotionally invested in everything they do. I won’t lie I wanted to hug them, yell at them, protect them, shake them and then immediately apologise for yelling.
Jodi somehow manages to balance all of that perfectly. The emotional moments hit you deep, the happy moments feel like your own, and the romance is perfect. Absolutely cinematic.
I finished it completely obsessed and desperately wanting more, which is both wonderful and deeply inconvenient. So, Jodi, thank you for this wonderful book. I loved every second of it. I’ll just be over here reading it for the third time.

I can always count on Jodi to deliver the most heartfelt, low angst, spicy stories with the most wholesome HEAs. I’m so glad we got a whole novel for Tyler and Colby. These guys were too amazing to not have a full book.
Tyler was the greenest flag ever. I just loved how protective he was of Colby whenever he felt overwhelmed. Even before their arrangement, he always looked out for him so it wasn’t a surprise that he fell so hard for him.
Colby really was the sweetest. The pressure people put on him was ridiculous and unfair. The way they hounded him was totally uncalled for and Tyler going on protective mode was all kinds of hot.
Tyler had such a crush on Colby and being there for him was the closest thing to having him he thought he’d get to be. Imagine his surprise when Colby suggests the arrangement that changed his life.
Even though Colby couldn’t be out, it didn’t matter to Tyler. Stealing little moments meant everything to him and he treasured those moments with all his heart. Spending time with Colby gave Tyler the courage to go after what he wanted.
Living the life his father dictated for him was making him miserable and he couldn’t take it anymore. He needed to choose his own path and happiness, and that happiness was Colby. He knew it wouldn’t be easy but Colby was worth it.
When Colby asked Tyler to help him get a hat trick, he never thought he’d say yes. Tyler was the best person he knew and Colby was sure he’d be safe with him. Colby’s crush on him was one of the reasons why he wanted Tyler. Being around him just made him feel at ease.
Getting to experience all of his first with Tyler was the most wonderful feeling. He couldn’t have found someone more thoughtful and kinder and Colby knew his heart was already gone.
Tyler was exactly the type of partner Colby envisioned himself with and he wasn’t ready to let him go. He knew there’d be obstacles along the way but knowing he’d have Tyler by his side, would make it all worth the risk.

Tyler was the greenest flag ever. I just loved how protective he was of Colby whenever he felt overwhelmed. Even before their arrangement, he always looked out for him so it wasn’t a surprise that he fell so hard for him.
Colby really was the sweetest. The pressure people put on him was ridiculous and unfair. The way they hounded him was totally uncalled for and Tyler going on protective mode was all kinds of hot.
Tyler had such a crush on Colby and being there for him was the closest thing to having him he thought he’d get to be. Imagine his surprise when Colby suggests the arrangement that changed his life.
Even though Colby couldn’t be out, it didn’t matter to Tyler. Stealing little moments meant everything to him and he treasured those moments with all his heart. Spending time with Colby gave Tyler the courage to go after what he wanted.
Living the life his father dictated for him was making him miserable and he couldn’t take it anymore. He needed to choose his own path and happiness, and that happiness was Colby. He knew it wouldn’t be easy but Colby was worth it.
When Colby asked Tyler to help him get a hat trick, he never thought he’d say yes. Tyler was the best person he knew and Colby was sure he’d be safe with him. Colby’s crush on him was one of the reasons why he wanted Tyler. Being around him just made him feel at ease.
Getting to experience all of his first with Tyler was the most wonderful feeling. He couldn’t have found someone more thoughtful and kinder and Colby knew his heart was already gone.
Tyler was exactly the type of partner Colby envisioned himself with and he wasn’t ready to let him go. He knew there’d be obstacles along the way but knowing he’d have Tyler by his side, would make it all worth the risk.

Rookie Moves was such a sweet and spicy college hockey romance!
I adored Colby and Tyler! It was so easy to get invested in their story and romance, and while it seemed like a lighthearted read at first, there were some heavier topics as well. I loved the initial tension and attraction between these two, and how they were both drawn to each other. Tyler was protective of Colby right from the start, and it was sweet how he tried to shield Colby from some of the outside pressure that he was exposed to.
The concept of spicy 'teach me' moments is always fun, and I loved how Tyler was being a complete consent king. He let Colby set the pace and made sure that they were both comfortable and safe. They had excellent chemistry, and it didn't take long to realise that they both had feelings for each other. Their explorations were very hot, and the bit of yearning between them was just perfection.
Both Colby and Tyler were dealing with pressure, Colby was being watched incredibly closely due to his talent on the ice, while Tyler's pressure came from his family about his profession and future. I loved seeing how supportive and protective they were of each other, and the second part of their story was more emotional and raw, with some heartbreaking moments.
Rookie Moves was overall a heartwarming romance, and it was both a sweet and spicy read! Colby and Tyler were great together, and I adored their relationship development and dynamic. I was very happy to see that there will be another book with these two - there was definitely a HFN here, but it felt like there was still a lot more to tell, which made sense once I saw the announcement at the end. I honestly can’t wait to see more of them, and I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR!

I have been waiting for this book for a hot minute. Anytime Jodi comes out with a book, I literally will finish what I’m reading to jump into it. It was definitely an emotional ride but it really had all the feels.
First off, Tyler’s parents are freaking insane. They are so entitled and only care about themselves. All I’m going to say is I hope karma comes at them in the next book because what they did to him is ridiculous. All he ever wanted was to feel seen and he certainly didn’t get that with them.
There are so many good moments whether you just want to hold both of them, laugh at the ridiculousness aka that banana scene, and just make me feel all the good feelings.
I really loved Tyler and Colby so much. What I loved was the protectiveness of Tyler when it came to Colby. He would save him from the reporters. That had me in my feels.
To lose his virginity and a lot of firsts with Tyler, Colby was in for a wild ride. Although he was one he could see himself feeling safe with and wouldn’t be judged. Tyler and Colby… Whoo boy, when things get spicy, it’s everything and that’s when feelings start to happen.
Even though Stassie gave him the push of the perfect person, she was still worried. Heck, she caught him with that damn banana. I’m still giggling like a schoolgirl over here!
I’m so glad that this book ends on a HFN because they are just perfection. I just know things are going to be epic in the next book. I need the next book right now. Also, I need Beau’s story too.

If you’re looking for an MM hockey romance with two green flag MMC’s then for sure add this to your TBR.
It’s hard not to love Tyler and Colby and their sweet relationship.
They both have their own personal struggles throughout the story with Colby having the weight of the world on his shoulders with hockey and with Tyler having the weight of the future that his dad (f*ck his dad) is forcing him to do once college is over.
However, even during that they both fall easily in love with each other and confide in each other and they both are just so damn sweet to each other.
What started as “spicy teach me lessons” as part of Colby’s college hat trick it was obvious that these two were going to fall quickly and hard for each other.
I adored Piper (Tyler’s bestie) and Stassie (Colby’s bestie) and the way they supported the guys and the “advice” had me laughing.
Even though this is a mostly cute moments story, there are some emotional ones to I mean hello the car scene with Colby getting out of the car; my poor heart!
The ending is a “happy for now” ending and I look forward to continuing their story.

Tyler Beckmann is openly bi, and flirts with Colby occasionally, as they play hockey together. Tyler has his life planned out for him, by his family. He is allowed to go to college on the condition he joins the family firm after graduation. Tyler cannot think of anything worse.
Colby asks Tyler a huge favour, that could change both of their lives. Tyler agrees to a friends with benefits arrangement, but doesn’t expect to fall for Colby.
Jodi Oliver has done it again, anything she writes I will read. Colby and Tyler are both gorgeous characters and deserve all the love.
Jodi has such a talent to write heartfelt and heartwarming stories. The writing flows so well, and the story develops at a great pace.
I loved Stassie, and her supportive friendship to Colby.

I fell completely in love with both Tyler and Colby and their relationship. The secret crushes they harbored on each other? Adorable!!! The protective streak? The shyness? The confidence? The playfulness? The sweetly romantic gestures? Honeys… it was never casual. Good try though!!
This book had it all. Funny banter, sweet nothings, sexy sexy sexy time, teammate moments, a beautiful love confession… and more. What I really loved most though was the way that Colby and Tyler really just wanted each other to be happy. They wanted to be together - and to see the other person really shine, and be full of life. It was so sweet how Colby gently showed Tyler how he could have music and how Tyler leaned in to Colby’s fears to help him feel safe enough to share. Having a safe space to land? Reader.. there’s nothing better.
Genuinely enjoyed this book so much and had a beautiful time reading it.
I’m excited for more in this series!!!

This book was definitely a fun, sweet romance full of hockey, and obviously teammates having some fun together. Colby and Tyler were both lovable, and I had such a nice time reading about them.
Colby has been a legend since he was really young, he knows that he will go to the NHL and wants to enjoy at least one year of college, and during this one year, finally lose his virginity. But the year is almost finished and he has not reached his goal, until his roommate suggests he ask his out and hot teammate for help. Tyler always thought that Colby was hot but his mind never really went there, until Colby’s request ! What a shock for him, but can he really say no ? In truth, he wants him too but he’s afraid of his own feelings and what all of it could entail.
While navigating hockey and their future career, they find each other in a perfect way.
Really sweet and beautiful, while finishing the book I could see it was going a certain way, I was surprised but totally up for it !!

Sweet and spicy! I just loved Colby & Tyler. The way Tyler protected Colby from the very beginning and was such a safe space for him. I loved that he gave Colby a little something that he'd never had. Colby, sweet, sweet Colby. I felt for him and was so glad he found Tyler. This is your typical teammates/friends to lovers to all the feels, but it's written so well. It reads fast and takes you through all the emotions. Any time there is the "teach me" vibe, you know someone is catching feels! :D Love to see it! Also, the spicy scenes are spicy! Thoroughly enjoyed - I read it in less than a day. Can't wait for the next installment of Tyler & Colby's story!

I love a good hockey romance as much as the next person, so of course I was excited to read another book from Jodi Oliver, and of course I enjoyed this one.
First of all, Colby. That man is an absolute marshmallow. I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket, give him a hug, and protect him from the entire world. Honestly, I completely understood why Tyler was the way he was with him because Colby deserved to be protected from this ugly, greedy world. Tyler was his rock and a constant force protecting him from the outside nonsense.
This book was also a very real reminder of just how gross sports media can be. The way some reporters treat athletes like they’re stories instead of actual human beings with feelings and lives outside of their sport was frustrating to read, but I really appreciated how that aspect of the story was handled.
But Tyler and Colby? Their chemistry was there from the very beginning.
You could feel their relationship developing on every page, and I loved that nothing about it felt rushed. It’s kind of a slow burn-ish situation…but also not really... We dive into things pretty early with the confession and the friends-with-benefits situation, but somehow their actual relationship still gets plenty of time to breathe and develop.
That’s what I really appreciated about this book. I knew how Tyler felt. I knew how Colby felt. I understood what they were both struggling with individually AND what they were trying to figure out together. Nothing felt like it was left unexplored just for the sake of moving the story along. Their relationship was built beautifully, and watching that connection deepen throughout the book was probably my favorite part.
Now, THE CLIMAX. I was so frustrated, even though I had a feeling something was going to happen lol
But I can admit that it needed to happen because it really showcased the growth and development of both Tyler and Colby. I also loved seeing how their family members supported them through everything because those relationships added so much to the story.
The writing was excellent, as always. It was easy to follow, the pacing worked really well, and there were plenty of moments when I found myself laughing as Tyler and Colby learned more about each other through their "Lessons." I also really enjoyed their relationships with the secondary characters it makes me curious if we're going to see more of these folks in the next book.

I’m so excited that this story isn’t completely over and that we’re going to keep seeing Colby and Tyler because there are still so many things I want them to accomplish!!
I obviously won’t spoil the ending, but after where we leave things, I am very curious about what this next journey is going to look like for them. I’m also pretty sure there will be even more crying in the next book.

I can't stop smiling because of the two muffins in Jodi Oliver's Rookie Moves. Colby and Tyler are great, big, waving green flags, and I easily fell in love with them. Both men are kind, earnest, curious, and caring, which was just right for their specific story.
Rookie Moves is a hockey MM romance with a little bit of on-ice time for the sports fans. We get to see the phenom that Colby is and why he's slated to be the first round NHL draft pick. One of the three main goals Colby has before entering the NHL is for his college team to win the Frozen Four, so yeah, there's some sport for us to enjoy.
But the real story, the heart of this book, is Colby's desire to have his s*xual firsts before his freshman (and only) year in college is up (NHL superstardom awaits). Enter senior hockey defenseman, Tyler. He's always kept an eye out for Colby, offering protection from press and support as his teammate. Colby has had a crush on Tyler from day one.
When the two enter an agreement to help Colby achieve those pre-NHL goals, things get real fun, real fast. There are a lot of firsts they explore together, and *turns on A/C* it sizzles.
Tyler is a CONSENT KING. Every single time he and Colby have time together, Tyler reminds Colby that there are no expectations, that they move at the speed of his readiness, and that Colby holds the power for their experiences. It's what we all deserve, and so few of us actually get IRL.
One of the things that I most enjoyed about Rookie Moves is how Jodi Oliver handled the 3rd act angsty tension. It's low-to-medium angst, and it's not dramatic or high stakes. It is painful. It's real. It sucks so hard to give someone time to work through things on their own when all we want is to be with them. But Colby's maturity and the trust he has in their connection, even while he was hurting and withdrawn, was rare indeed. It made me love him (and their relationship) even more.
Tyler's BF Piper and Colby's BF Stassie and his sister Callie are amazing, strong women who support these men to take care of themselves AND to be relationally responsible. It's beautiful the way both T and C have people who care in their corner.
Speaking of, Tyler's parents can choke on rusty nails.
Overall, Rookie Moves was a delightful read, anddddddd it's book 1 of a continuing series with these two. I already pre-ordered book 2 because I want so so soooo much more of them.

I absolutely adored Tyler and Colby separately and together. Colby is just this kind of sweet sunshine living in a fishbowl with very few safe places to hide. He’s been a hockey phenom all his life, and he’s enjoying one year of college before going into the NHL draft. But despite the pressure and attention, his teammate Tyler becomes one of those safe people. He also happens to be a guy that the closeted gay Colby has been crushing on.
Tyler’s a senior defenseman who is magnetic, protective, kind, and caring. And when Colby asks him to give him sex lessons, Tyler is okay with Colby being a rookie in all ways and him being a mentor. It’s not supposed to be serious. It’s supposed to just be sex lessons, but the more time they spend together, the more truly intimate they become. They become each other’s safe space in their chaotic lives as they plan for their futures. I loved these characters and even though we were left in a very good place and a HFN, I am looking forward to the rest of their story. I really want it now because I can’t get enough of these guys. I’m also excited about Beau’s spin-off story, The Redeemer, co-written with Garrett Leigh.

You always finish a book from Jodi Oliver with a heartwarming feeling in your chest, and this book was no different. Ugh, Colby and Tyler are soooooo cute! 🥺🥺
I've always loved that no matter what topics the books from Jodi discusses, you come out of it with a light heart and a LOT to reflect. Also, this was such a funny book. The banana scene? My jaw is still on the floor after that, lol.
Tyler's journey was so well done. From him being indifferent about his future to having Colby's help to see things in another light. Ugh, he deserved so much more from his family. I hope we see more of his relationship with his brother in book 2! I see so much potential in those two!! And I'm super curious to see if Tyler will follow his dreams - I really hope so!
I can not phantom the pressure Colby had in his shoulders since he was ten years old. Like, how can ADULTS act so predatory towards a kid?!?! I'm angry right there along side Tyler. Colby's insecurities were so valid and I'm glad he has more support going into the NHL - Beau's introduction? Man, I'm so down to his book!
It was very sweet seeing Colby and Tyler helping each other and watching their relationship transform over the course of the book. From Tyler's care and protectiness to Colby's genuine want to help Tyler find himself. They were each other's safe place and I could not with how cute and adorable they were!!!!
I loved the best friends - Stassie, Piper and Liam - and I really hope they apper in book 2 somehow! I have a feeling Colby and Tyler will be needing a chosen family support during book 2.
This beeing book 1 in a duology, I was curious to see how the story was going to make the transition between books and I loved that this one was a HFN. It rounded up the points of interest pretty well, at the same time that left a path for more of them to come in their new chapter. This was such a light, sweet and funny story. I CAN'T NOT wait for book 2!!! I have so many theories about what comes next and who we're gonna see again.

What a fun read. I loved the premise- hockey prodigy wants to go to college for a year before he is drafted to get the experience of going to college. Of course he still plays for the college hockey team. He has three things he wants to accomplish during that year. And one of them is losing his v card. Cliche? Maybe. But the story is told really well.
And even though Colby is a freshman, he recruits senior Tyler to help him. But it isn't wham, bam, thank you D man. It's slow and drawn out. Which shows Tyler's maturity. Wanting it to be perfect for Colby.
Underneath it we have Tyler who is graduating soon which means working for his father back home and giving up hockey. Two things he absolutely doesn't want to do. And grr his father makes me so mad. And Colby who wants to play in the NHL, but also already feels the pressure of it. Hockey has had their eyes on him since he was a child. And it isn't getting better.
We follow these two for several months with the backdrop of college hockey and making it to the Frozen Four. Of course with the ultimate goal of winning it.
There isn't too much hockey (sorry, I don't like getting bogged down with page after page after page of hockey plays) and there isn't too much sex. It's actually balanced really well and the story moves forward without getting stuck anywhere.

Rookie Moves had me kicking my feet and jumping up and down like a giddy school girl! Colby is a potential first round draft pick in the NHL and has been forced to life his life always trying to be perfect so it something doesn't end up as a headline or plastered across social media. Tyler hasn't had it any easier, forced to life the life his father has put into place for him. Wanting to complete a sort of bucket list before being drafted causes Colby and Tyler together...and boy was I down for that! The chemistry these two have is absolute fire! I loved reading about all of Colby's "firsts". Tyler was so patient and he is lying if he says he was anything but a willing participant. When graduation neared...it broke me. I couldn't believe what was happening. I had to keep reading, begging the author to please give me that HEA I needed. How can we go through all of that with these amazing boys and not end up with an HEA??? I refused to believe that was where it was headed. Thankfully...Oliver spared me but I still want more! I need more of their story. What happens next? Where do they both go? How does their life turn out???

and Tyler is such a caretaker (although not so much to himself)
I absolutely adore the pair so much, they made my heart so happy!
I feel for Colby with the pressure he is under but i am so glad he had Tyler in his corner to protect him and be there to pick him back up and help him forget the bad things in life. The confidence Tyler gives Colby is just beautiful, and watching Colby grow in confidence with himself and in the relationship is just so sweet.
Who knew propostition to help a teammate lose his V card would turn into something so beautiful!
I can’t wait for the second book to continue with their story and follow along like the crazy groupie i seem to now be from reading this book.
I need to know how life progresses for them and how they handle such big changes in their lives.

I love me a teammates to lovers book and especially when they are close friends as well. This book was just so sweet and felt like a warm hug. I loved every second of it. All the adorable moments that led up to Colby and Tyler falling for each other were just everything to me.
Colby is less social than Tyler and this causes Colby to second guess himself a lot but Tyler is always there to reassure him and be his safe space. They are each other’s safe spaces and I just loved that so much, the way they could fully be themselves and get a break from things that weighed on them.
Of course I have to mention side characters and I loved the ones in this book a lot. They were so supportive and protective of Tyler and Colby and it was so precious.
The way they chose each other and would do anything it took to be together stole my heart. I just love these two so much and I’m foaming at the mouth for book 2. They’re already so perfect but I can’t wait to see them grow as individuals and as a couple.
