I have been reading love stories for as long as I can remember and when I ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James The Brontë sisters, etc. during my studies, I was hooked for life.
I married my college boyfriend and soul mate and we are fortunate to live in the picturesque little seaside village of Betty's Bay, South Africa with the ocean a block away and a beautiful mountain right behind us. And although life so far has not always been an easy ride, it has always been an exiting and interesting one!
I like the heroines in my stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong. And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous! My stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.

We are back in Marietta for another lovely story about The Weston’s now that the cousins have come together and re-joined the ranch, Dylan and brother Carson are settling in with their cousins and getting used to the intuition that seems to run through some of them, but will their match-making see Dylan find the love of his life?

Dylan can’t see himself ever falling in love after his early years with his mum and dad but when he finds a woman walking into town from her broken down car in the pouring rain there is some feeling, pull that is something that he has no idea about but rescue her he does and from then on in she stays in his mind as they spend more and more time together.

June Kincaid who we have met before is returning to Marietta, she visited once and maybe it is time for a holiday she will be working as well as her publishing career is important to her and she really wants to write that children’s book that has been in her mind for sometime but looking or finding love was never on the cards that is until she meets Dylan Weston.

The pull between them is too hard to ignore as their together time heats up and with the match-making Weston’s around there is not much they can do except go with it all and lose their hearts to each other, this one is a steamy and moving romance that I would recommend to any lover of romance.

My thanks to Tule Publishing for my digital copy to read and review.

HOME TO THE COWBOY by Elsa Winckler
Release date May 5, 2026

Book 5 in the western of Montana series. However, I do feel it could be right as a standalone, but oh my gosh, why would you want to do that when all of the books are so wonderful!

This is June and Dylan’s story and they both have a lot of baggage. Their attraction to each other is immediate! On her way into Marietta June’s car breaks down in the rain and who’s there to help her none other than Dylan and this is how their story starts.
This is one of those books that just could not be put down from start to finish. It grabbed me. What a journey these two have taken.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I mean the premise is sweet but some of the family dynamics I wasn’t fond of. Yes I know small towns everyone is in everyone else’s business and that’s fine to a point. But the family, the cousins who had a happy and healthy childhood are very badgering and seemingly belittling of Dylan and Carson’s feelings about their own less than happy ones. All of our pasts define us and they shape who we are to dismiss someone’s feelings and insecurities is cruel. Especially if they’re family you claim to love. Pushing someone when they’re not ready or telling them how they feel isn’t helpful either. Also the woo woo stuff was an odd addition to a cowboy romance. Is the actual love story sweet yes, but the set up idk it was pushy. I give it a 3.5/5.

Love the story of a small town ranching family, with all their family dinners, maybe some secrets and some match making, and a little bit of magic in some of the family’s mind reading and extra sensibility with animals.
Also the developing love story between the sexy Cowboy and the lovely June, who is in town to finish writing her children’s book, held me deep into the storyline

It feels like coming back home visiting the Weston family again. This series has everything from entertaining animals, a large loving family and even a touch of some supernatural abilities.

I really enjoyed Dylan and June’s story and them overcoming the past and taking a chance at a beautiful future.

Home to the Cowboy is the fifth title in The Westons of Montana series. I’ve so enjoyed meeting all the Westons, and now it’s Dylan’s turn to find his true love… hopefully. June has recently found her now ex-boyfriend in bed with another woman. Fortunately, she can work remotely, so she decides to take a few months off to work from home, finish the children’s book she’s been working on, and get her head on straight where men are concerned. She’s heading for Marietta, Montana, a lovely little town she’s visited before when her car broke down, leaving her to walk into town in the pouring rain. She never expected the handsome cowboy to come to her rescue or be related to the person she did know in Marietta. She certainly didn’t expect the almost immediate attraction, something she shouldn’t be reacting to, given her recent history.

Dylan has great plans to bring his entire feuding family together again. It just might work if he can get everyone on board. What he hadn’t planned on was June. This beautiful woman with the sad eyes captivated him, and the need to know more about her was immediate. The attraction between them was sparking flames… too bad neither really knew what true relationships are supposed to be, given their personal backgrounds: June living in foster care and Dylan with dysfunctional parents. They are about to blunder their way through, and yes, mistakes and miscommunications are about to happen before they face a simple fact… love is worth the fight, worth doing it right, and despite their baggage, they are worth a shot at happiness, together.

I had fun, back in the Weston’s world again. Dylan and June make a perfectly imbalanced couple at first, both leery of the other, not trusting in love or forever, and neither knows how a real, honest, emotional relationship is supposed to work. They never saw them in action growing up, so learning to communicate with each other is an ongoing life lesson. I loved catching up with this extended family, especially the slightly paranormal moments (blink and you might miss them) that make some members of this family quite unique. Home to the Cowboy is well-written, steamy, emotional, and satisfying. If you love a romance where the couple is far from perfect but end up being “perfect” for each other, a huge family that often “helps” a romance along, then you’d enjoy June and Dylan’s romance.

Elsa Winckler writes beautiful, emotional, romantic stories, likeable, clean living characters, no cheating, no corruption just pure romance with a little bit of woo woo thrown in for good measure.
June Kincaid is sad but not as devastated as she probable should have been when she caught her steady boyfriend in bed with another woman.
June worked for a publishing company in Seattle, but her job meant that she could work from anywhere, she would take the opportunity of a couple of months working away, she had been promising herself a face to face meeting with a talented artist and writer, Beckett Weston who was a new client.
Becket lived on a ranch in the small town of Marietta on the outskirts of Montana and set in the foothills of Copper Mountain. June was stunned by the beauty of the place, a place she would come to love.
Walking in the pouring rain, dragging your red suitcase, broken down car behind you, isn't the way to meet the man that you would quickly fall in love with, but that is how feisty June met Dylan Weston.
Dylan and his brother Carson had been brought up on the Grayson Ranch, an unhappy childhood with parents who argued continuously, an huge argument had split the once happy larger family, the initial Ranch had been divided into two ranches, the Grayson and the Weston. After the death of their parents, Dylan and Carson decided that it would be better to combine the ranches once more, they now lived a much happier life on the Weston Ranch.
The spark between June and Dylan was instant and it was combustible, June was welcomed with open arms into the Weston family but Dylan's childhood convinced him that he should never marry. June had been brought up in foster care with no one to teach her about love. This is the emotional story of June and Dylan as they tried, sometimes unsuccessfully, to make a life together, they both needed to be taught how to fight their demons and to love, no one was better at that than the combined and brilliant Weston family.

This is book five in the Westons of Montana series and we get to know Dylan and Carson, the cousins of the main Weston family.
Dylan is still uneasy about relationships after seeing his parents marriage which was very dysfunctional. Yet when he meets June Kincaid, broken down in the rain on her way to stay in Marietta he's immediately smitten. Not that he sees it that way at first.
June is looking forward to a quiet time in Marietta, which she fell in love with on a brief visit a while back when she was in contact with one of the Weston family about a book contract. She doesn't expect to meet a hot cowboy on her first night in town. Even worse, find he's part of the family she will be spending time with during her stay.
It mentions that this is a Steamy romance and this is very much so, with the physical attraction between Dylan and June right in the forefront from the start. I was relieved when at one point things ease up and they start to get to know each other outside of the bedroom.
Both June and Dylan have a lot of baggage and this is a big part of what keeps them from accepting the connection they have.
We get to see a lot of the rest of the Weston family and their interesting skillset which is nice if you've read the full series. This story could be read stand alone as some things are explained to June by the family so you can catch up on past events.
The ending was very nice and I look forward to more stories about the family.

Dylan meets June when her car breaks down on the side of the road. She's driving to Marietta where she stayed a while ago, she works in Seattle but can do her job anywhere, so when she found her boyfriend with another woman, she left, with no regrets! Having been brought up in the foster system she is unsure about how relationships work but felt more at home in Marietta than anywhere else. She's soaking wet when Dylan finds her, she's worried about being in a strange truck with a strange, really attractive, man, but he's got a small puppy who she sits on her lap and cuddles.
Dylan is amazed by his reaction to this beautiful woman, he's never had these feelings before, and he's pretty certain she has them too. She seems very upset when he mentions her freckles, he really likes them but she has bad memories of school and boys teasing her about them.
Turns out that Dylan knows lots of people in the small town, his surname is Weston, and the person whose lent her the house to stay in knows Dylan well. The whole family takes her under their wing, she's not used to it, Dylan and Carson, his brother, are finding meeting for meals, chatting and being friendly very unusual, their family meals were completely different. This has affected how he feels about relationships, he's unsure how they work. Causing a problem between him and June.

Another great read in the series from Elsa

Just like his cousins I loved Dylan’s story. These Westons always make me giggle and swoon.

Dylan and Carson might be cousins to the other Westons but they all treat them like brothers.

Dylan and June both had their reasons for not wanting a relationship. She grew up in the system and his parents didn’t have a good relationship.

I loved watching them grow into the people they were meant to be together. They had some bumps along the way but what relationship doesn’t. They had their own things to sort through before they could have the lives they never knew they needed or wanted.

It was nice to see June again and seeing her fall in love with the town again. She might have grew up in the big city but the country is where she found herself.

I also can’t not mention Daisy! She was so sweet and perfect for Dylan. Who doesn’t love a cute animal companion.

I always love this series because while each book focuses on a different couple you still get to see the rest of the family in each book as the family keeps growing.

I did like finally finding out why their fathers split up the ranch. I had a feeling that’s what it would be but to read it was sad.

I can’t wait to read Carson’s story and be back in this world again because I love it so much! I read this book as an arc.

Home To The Cowboy brings us back to the Weston family ranch in Montana, where we find the original Weston siblings now reunited with their cousins. Their respective fathers had a massive fight and split the ranch decades earlier but with both ranches thriving in their own respects, it made sense to join them once again. Dylan Weston is cowboy through and through, happily spending his days out nin the pastures with the cattle. When he comes across June, dressed in her city clothes and walking awat from her broken-down car in the rain, he offers her a lift, falling for her in the process. June just wants peace and quiet and a rest from her busy publishing house in Seattle. The last thing she has in mind is a relationship with anybody and certainly not with Dylan, who is the antithesis of the men she normally dates. Unfortunately for her, there are sparks and while the physical side of things might come first, it’s not long before feelings follow. I loved watching these two go through the tug of war of falling in love. It looks like there’ll be another Westons of Montana story as Dylan has a brother, so there is more to look forward to in this enjoyable series.

June had to get away from her cheating ex. Running to Montana seemed as good a choice as any. Being an editor it seems like now is her chance to write a children's book that she's always wanted too. But breaking down wasn't on her list of things to do. Then the ruggedly handsome cowboy stops to help her, she wonders why he so keen to help out a stranger. Dylan can believe he helping this woman, especially as he's attracted to her. His life is to busy for relationships. Trying to mend a family feud that's lasted over a decade isn't easy. He's never had a close family relationship with his parents. Unlike his cousins who'd had a brilliant family life growing up. But he's hoping to built that now with his cousins. But the chemistry between him and June is totally off the charts. But can she really trust him. Will her really built bridges with his cousins. Can June really leave the big city behind and find happiness in this small-town. This is another brilliant addition to this series, and so easy to read

I absolutely loved Home to the Cowboy! This book is an incredibly easy, engaging read that completely captured my heart from the very first page. The storyline is both heartwarming and deeply emotional. It follows June Kincaid, who is fleeing the big city and a cheating fiancé to find a quiet, charming retreat where she can heal her heart and work on her children's novel. Instead of complete solitude, she is rescued by Dylan Weston, a rugged cowboy who is working to heal a decades-old family feud. Watching them navigate their scorching attraction, overcome past betrayals, and figure out if they can trust love again makes for an incredibly captivating journey. What truly makes this book shine are the main characters. Both June and Dylan are relatable, authentic, and incredibly endearing. Their chemistry is wonderful, and the small-town, family-oriented setting of Montana adds so much warmth and depth to the romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Home to the Cowboy ~The Westons of Montana #5 by Elsa Winckler

Elsa Winckler delivers another compelling and emotionally engaging addition to The Westons of Montana series with Home to the Cowboy. Having read the previous instalments, I’ve come to appreciate the author’s consistent ability to craft well-developed characters and meaningful, heartfelt stories.

This fifth book continues that tradition, offering a touching romance with strong character dynamics and a narrative that is both immersive and satisfying. Elsa’s writing style is polished and accessible, making it easy to become invested in the journey of her characters.

Overall, Home to the Cowboy is a wonderful addition to the series. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy contemporary romance with depth, warmth, and strong storytelling.

For years the Jackson and Grayson Weston families had been estranged and nobody knew what the argument was about between the two brothers - Jackson and Grayson. Now due to the insistence of Hayden and his brothers, they had invited Dylan and Carson (their cousins) to combine their ranches again. The warmth of all their cousins and wives is something new to Dylan and Carson. When Dylan comes across a woman walking down the road in the rain pulling a huge suitcase he stops to help her. At first June won’t accept the ride, but then he convinces her it’s ok. The attraction is instantaneous, intense and both are confused by their feelings, since neither had felt the love of family or parents. June grew up in the foster system. It was a wonderful story and the character were believable and lovable. Love this series.

It’s like a galaxy of stars waiting to be explored…your freckles.

The title of the book captures the one word that weaves like a golden thread through all five books of the Westons thus far. Home. Everyone not only finds a home in Marietta or on the ranch, but with the Westons themselves.

Growing up, Dylan and his brother didn’t have the best example of marriage and parental love. And being around his cousins who share everything, know everything, constantly display love and affection, and just seem so happy still makes him uneasy sometimes. Growing up in the foster care system, June only had her friend Abby as a constant in her life until she met the Weston women.

A little bit of sickness, drama, and insecurities, but a whole lot of love make this another great story!

In a way, Dylan and June’s story reminds me a lot of Cooper and Rose’s story. (What the Cowboy wants)

This is the 5th book in the series and this is Dylan's story. June catches her cheating boyfriend in the act. Although she is upset, she is not as devastated as she thought she would be. She jumps in the car and head to the small town of Marietta to work on her book. She meets the handsome Dylan Weston when she has car trouble in the middle of a storm. Both of them have serious baggage from their childhood. Dylan never wants to get married and June grew up in the system and knows nothing about being in a relationship. Their chemistry is crazy and pushed along as his aunt plays matchmaker. Dylan knows that his feelings for June are something he has never experienced before. June is not sure what love feels like. Can they figure it out before it's too late?

Book five of "The Westons of Montana". June Kincaid is at a crossroads in life. After catching her boyfriend with another woman, she decides to take some "me" time and work remotely from Marietta, Montana. The publishing company she works for has clients in the area and just maybe, she'd have time to work on the children's book she'd wanted to write. Dylan Weston has recently moved to the Marietta area to join forces and ranches with his cousins. He and his brother had a difficult childhood with parents who constantly fought. The sparks are immediate after meeting June, but Dylan really doesn't believe in love.

As sparks fly, and Dylan’s extended family dabbles in matchmaking, June faces a quandary. Can she leave New York for good and trust love again, finally having the family she’s always dreamed of?'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Captivating romance full with a yes/no relationship. Dylan grew up with contentious parents and swore off long term relationships. His
“Yes, I want to be with you” “No, I cannot hack it” attitudes wear on June who has her own insecurities. No telling if the relationship will ever work out.
The only problem I had with the story is that it felt too repetitious and overkill on Dylan’s bouncing around attitude.

Home to the Cowboy by Elsa Winckler is her fifth book in The Westons of Montana Series. Dylan Weston has plans with the current Weston generation to work though past family differences and promoting healing within the family. I couldn’t see how June Kincaid’s entry into the story would help but she does. She has struggles of her own which include unfaithfulness by her fiancé. The story heats up quickly so maybe the fiancé was never the one for her. Dylan runs hot and cold which is not a plus for this character. A steamy romance with family issues added into the story.

Wow I loved this book. It was so easy to read and the main characters so likeable, although I did want to shake them a few times for being so indecisive over their feelings. The Weston family are one of my favourite book families, they are all so nice.

June was only supposed to be staying temporarily while she got over her cheating boyfriend and worked on her children’s book. She didn’t expect to fall for her rescuer Dylan and he for her. But he gets scared of his feelings and pulls back many times hurting her and June keeps giving him second chances until she realizes that her heart won’t accept just a temporary fling. This was a steamy romance. It was nice to catch up with the previous characters in this series.

An enjoyable and easy read. This is book 5 in The Westons of Montana series and although Home to the Cowboy can be read as a standalone, I think it would be better understood if you read the series in order.

I have not read any of the other books in this series and at the beginning I was a bit lost. Having said that, the author did weave some of the history of the series in this story and that helped!
