Radiant Vows: A Dark Vampire Romantasy

Rate this book
Her name was stolen. Her fate was sealed. Her rage is just beginning.

Kallista Marcellane is chosen by lottery—a vampire bride for the Radiant King in exchange for peace between species. But the lottery was rigged, the peace is a lie, and her own people traded her life for time. Delivered to a palace that glows with weaponized sunlight, she's also dying from the Crimson Blight, a vampire illness manufactured by the very crown she's meant to unite with.

The king isn't her biggest problem.

General Zevrin Vexrath—the King’s brother and most lethal weapon—is ordered to keep her in line. Their loathing is instant, and so is the heat beneath it. As Kallista fights to survive in a court that sees her as prey, she uncovers secrets the crown tried to bury: letters in the walls, a demon beneath the throne, and a truth about Zevrin that could shatter everything.

The winter solstice is coming, and with it brings a ritual that will steal what’s left of her power.

She didn't choose this destiny, she was sold into it, and now she's going to burn it all down.

Some love stories start with a vow. This one starts with betrayal and ends in fire.

This was the enemies to lovers Romantasy I neeeeeded! When I tell you I felt the hatred turn to denial turn to tension. This was perfect.

This is a slow burn so please be advised that this is well worth the wait. Zervin and Kallista were everything I needed.

Shadowveil is where all the magical beings exist. Being outcast from the Radiant Kingdom due to the kings paranoia and the sunstone poisoning that is slowly taking their magic there aren’t much option left. Even less in the Vampire race. So when an offer is made for a Vampire bride for the Radiant king in exchange for peace for all vampire kind they decide to take the deal holding a lottery for who will be chosen for the king.

Kallista is dying months maybe if she’s lucky. But maybe this is the edge they need to enter into this oeave offering. A vanpire with nothing to lose. And when she meets the general who is sent to escort her to her bew husband its hate on sight for both if them. Zervin believes the only goid vampire is a dead one and Kallista is no exception…maybe.

This has me invested from page 1. The plot had me so consumed I did’t want to put this down. And the ending has ne feral for the next book in thus duet. True enemies to lovers with a delicious slowburn will hit every single time. Trust me when I say go in as blind as possible and everything is not as it seems.

What you can expect:

♥️ Arranged Marriage not to the MMC
✨ Paranormal Creatures
♥️ High Stakes
✨ Enemies to Lovers
♥️ Rituals and Summonings
✨ Forbidden Love

This was an ARC read
This is a must read.
It has a steady pace with no filler, and it stayed engaging the entire way.
It made me feel a lot—stress, tension, frustration—and I even cried more than once. Some moments hit harder than I expected.
The tension carries the story beyond just the romance, with a constant sense of pressure underneath everything.
The character dynamic is what stood out most. The mistrust and slow shift felt natural and earned.

By the end, I was fully invested and emotionally impacted. I really enjoyed this ARC and appreciate the opportunity to read it early.

Radiant Vows...the first book in this duet...and I most definitely forgot that Jen writes a cliffhanger, at the most insignificant time... because what the hell, I need more!

Kallista, when she was turned into a vampire she became part of the Marcellane family. A family that is considered royalty amongst their kind. But she was different, she cared. Her strength was different and her fear absolutely real.

𝐹𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑆𝑢𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑛𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑎 "𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑐𝑒" 𝑖𝑠 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒, 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓𝑓 𝑎𝑠 𝑠𝑎𝑐𝑟𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑒.

𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅.

Zevrin, he is the fearsome General and brother to the Sunstone King. He is extremely calculated, plays his cards well, and never deviants from a plan. Until Kallista sets foot on Sunstone grounds. She's a variable he never planned for.

𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏, 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔. 𝑯𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒗𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓....

This book sets the foundation, to a developing relationship, one that started off from anger, banter, and betrayal!

A rebellion.

An unstable King with allies that had my jaw dropping because, what the freaking hell?
And that ending?? Why??? I needed more!

Is it possible to be hooked before page one? Because that dedication alone had me locked in:

“For the beautiful women who refuse to let their light be drained by systems that fear it. May your rage be radiant.”

Yeah. I was done for.

I’m an absolute sucker for a good vampire story, and Radiant Vows delivered exactly what I wanted and then some. The enemies-to-lovers dynamic? Immaculate. The tension? Sharp, simmering, and stretched just right to make that slow burn feel earned every step of the way. Nothing rushed, nothing wasted—just pure, addictive buildup.

And that ending… I’m still reeling. The emotional whiplash?? RUDE. I just sat there staring at the page like “there’s no way you just did that to me.” I need book two immediately because I have questions.

I’m fully invested now and already counting down to what comes next.

Kallista's a vampire princess dying of blood poisoning
Zevrin the general to the King that is spreading said poisoning... Kallista is manipulated into marriage with the King. The brother of the general... are we getting a small picture. The King and the general hate vampires, but a marige is what is needed for power and protection. But there are whispers of betrayal, longing and lust.
Slow burn and I mean slow burn.
A true enemies to lovers

The prologue alone 🔥🔥🔥 I was HOOKED from the beginning. The world and character building in this is phenomenal.

Kallista- Our vampire FMC. Her people are dying.. and so is she. Slowly being taken out by a weaponized illness.. There's a lottery, to be chosen to become a bride for the Radiant King (The crown that manufactured the illness) in exchange for peace between humans and her kind. She's forced into the lottery, forced into the marriage.

Zevrin- The Kings brother, a general and deadliest soldier. He was sent to retrieve Kallista and bring her to the king. He has been taught to loathe the species so his start with Kallista is a rocky one. This is definitely true enemies energy!

I absolutely loved Kallista! Her internal dialogue and even some of her retorts to people are hilarious! She's strong, witty, intelligent. Elara is her best friend. Ugh I adored their bond and their friendship. 💕
Zevrin is definitely complex and layered!
Definitely have to peel back the layers on him! And the writing when it comes to unpeeling of those layers was done with precision and care. Watching him develop was everything! I loved his nickname for her 🖤 I loved his POV's and the inner turmoil he went through. What your taught to believe vs what you think.

Jen Stevens nails the enemies to lovers trope. The tension and hatred in the beginning seeps from every page. At times I was cringing thinking wow they really legit do hate each other. When the 🔥🔥 appears it burns HOT! The slloowww burn was sooo worth the wait.

The political rebellion aspect was beautifully written. This story runs so deep and I thoroughly enjoyed the slow burn of it in its entirety. Species at war, Sacrifices made, all time high stakes. Everything was so well executed. And the secrets discovered!!!!! I honestly didn't see them coming. This is full of twists and turns! The ending!!! I got chills!
Looking forward to the next one!!!!

OMG to say I love this book, is an understatement. This is my first to my knowledge, Jen Stevens book and she hit it out of the park!! Even though you are left on a cliffhanger lol. All I care about is we get an HEA at the end of this duology. We have Fae, we have vampires, we have hybrids and a dire wolf. Need I say more? The banter between Kallista (FMC) and Zevrin (MMC) in this enemies to lovers, more like hate to lovers was brilliantly written. It had me laughing so much at their bickering but also wanting to scream at the characters at the same time. You will feel all the emotions from this book all the way up to the end. Please be sure to check the TWs and get ready for the ride!!

Thank you to Jen Stevens for providing me with an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own. I would give this 4.5 stars, overall, and 3 on a spice level for me.

Kallista is a sick vampire who is being sacrificed to the Radiant or Mad King, Alaric. Kallista is basically being sent to the Mad King because she's dying anyway. Who cares right? Especially if Kallista saves the rest of her kind. Kallista is forced to marry King Alaric and appear happy about it. I think everything in Alaric's kingdom was designed to destroy Kallista, intentionally.

Kallista definitely starts out as enemies with her King and his brother. Alaric really set Zeverin up to babysit Kallista. Alaric didn't think anyone would dare to defy his authority or power. Alaric expected everyone to just fall in line and obey. There is history between Alaric and Zeverin. Zeverin did come off very stoic. Kallista has a really big heart for an "immortal" dying vampire. Kallista has decided to endure for whatever life she has left. In the end, Kallista just might find some allies and answers she wasn't expecting. This epic story does end on a cliffhanger with many things up in the air. This series is expected to be a duet.

There are some trigger warnings in this book. I did feel like a lot of the more graphic content happened off page. I was fine with that because not being descriptive didn't take anything away from the story. I liked that this book picks right up. It made getting into the book easier. The book never lagged for me. The story was interesting from beginning to end. I would say romantsy and fantasy are not my go to reads. I normally prefer darker romances. I wasn't disappointed with this book. I do hope there's spicier scenes in the next book. I was so very exasperated that Kallista's people chose to sacrifice her and didn't care. No one knew all the lies when they came out. This book isn't just about vampires. There are witches, fae, and wolves to name a few.

Radiant Vows was everything I needed for my next romantasy!! Vampires, witches, fae, semi-horrid humans, dire wolves, but they played together so well.

Kallista is a vampire who was chosen to be used a a political pawn when she's promised to the human king to bring their people together in a way that hasn't been done before. But while she's supposed to be a symbol of peace and unity between their people, it's quickly learned that you can try to make moves, but those in the working class don't have to accept them as their own. And while most would be thrilled to be chosen to become queen, little do they know King Alaric is a brutal man that wants nothing but to break Kallista's spirit.

As if things couldn't get worse from being forced into a life she never volunteered for, she's also pushed to travel with the king's brother/General Zevrin Vexrath. While lovely to look at, he's complicit in all the horrible things that Alaric does and says to his wife, making her absolutely despise him. But forced to be her personal guard and the close proximity, the two start having confusing feelings about the other and hate turns to denial and then... more.

I really loved that while this was an arranged marriage, the MMC was NOT the man she was forced to marry. Zevrin really is a contender for top 10 book boyfriends and when he calls her "Little ghost?" *swoon* I really just enjoyed this one so much. It is a SLOWWWWW burn so prepare yourself, but once you get there, it really pays off. I loved the two of them and that ending?! Holy sh*t. I can't wait for the second in the duet to come out in September! (Can it be September already?!)

No notes, it did make me cry so beware you will feel all the feels.

Radiant Vows by Jen Stevens is a dark vampire romantasy starring Kallista Marcellane, a vampire princess, as she is thrust into a political marriage with a wretched tyrant who only wishes to use her. She struggles against the physical and psychological toll of a terminal magical plague known as Blight, all while her kingdom and species face destruction.

Kallista, a member of the noble Marcellane bloodline, finds herself forced into a union with the Radiant King, Alaric Vexrath. This political marriage is not a simple diplomatic pact; it is a cover for the King to consume the essence of the vampire species. General Zevin Vexrath, the King’s brother and military enforcer, is assigned to guard the princess.

The kingdom of Ferros, where Kallista is taken, is constructed with sunstone-infused metal, and its people are called the Lightborn. The environment is hostile to vampires, and they are also unable to drink from the Lightborn. Kallista’s survival, while being considered chattel or merchandise, is a testament to her strength. Will there be any salvation for Kallista? What secrets unfold about her captors and her very own people?

I enjoyed Jen’s world-building and her take on vampires and the Lightborn. Having a strong FMC who has to endure the crushing weight of oppression, and her moving transition from a weak, reluctant bride to an emerging conspirator, was exciting! Her strength and resilience won me over! I also enjoyed the bond she shares with Umbra.

Thanks to Jen Stevens for gifting me an eARC of Radiant Vows. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

✨✨ARC Review✨✨
You know when a book is so good you absolutely devour it, reading for hours without putting it down? A dozen pages in I knew this book was different. I know I couldn’t devour it. Because it was simply just.that.good. Wow, just, wow. I’ve read a dozen books claiming to be enemies to lovers when it’s actually “someone I’m mildly annoyed by for 70 pages until I get them in bed.” This, THIS, is how you do an enemies to lovers. This is how you do Romantasy with world building, incredible plot, fantasy, and eventually yes, some love. I truly cannot get over this being an ARC read and I’m so incredibly fortunate I was chosen to enter this kingdom before it’s the next big book. The loyalty I had to Kallista and the absolute love I had for Zevrin was unmatched. It’s not often you can find an almost 600 page book and have the author justify every single page, but that’s what Radiant Vows did. There was no fluff. No filler. Everything was pertinent to the story. Each new piece and turn moving the plot forward. I was a little apprehensive with the list of trigger warnings, but all of the hard scenes were written so well. You felt all of Kallista’s pain and suffering without it having to be graphic on the page. The further I got into the book the more I struggled knowing the book was coming to an end and I’d have to leave this world behind.

The characters. The plot. The world building. Absolute cinema. I need this in hardback with sprayed edges immediately. Whether this is your first or fiftieth Romantasy, you’re about to begin one of the best ones out there.

If you love a slow burn romantasy, this is a great book for you to give a try. When I say slow, I mean SLOW, as in they barely have full, not hostile conversations until about 65-70% through the book. I am not at all complaining because the tension 🤌

The characters were really well done and I found myself wanting to know even more about all the side characters because I feel like we were just teased with them all. The main characters kept me on my toes. Zevrin because we know so little about him, and Kallista because she was forced to grow and pick which direction she wanted to go, and even then we're left questioning what she'll do next.

I loved the creativity of this one, with how the magic works, the play on dark and light, and how we're given a lot, but left with a lot of mystery, too. I'm really looking forward to the next book and seeing exactly where everything goes, especially with Zevrin, his discoveries, and how that will change things for him. I look forward to what happens with Kallie, too, because I get the feeling there's far more sass to be had as things go forward and I really look forward to it.

Overall, this was a great introduction to this series and world and I look forward to where Jen Stevens' takes us next! Highly recommend for those who enjoy vampires, enemies to lovers, forbidden love, feminine rage, and the slowest of slow burns.

The ending had me tearing up. The betrayal from the ones she thought she could trust 😢 and then we are left hanging. I'm looking forward to the next book. This one is a slower build with the romance and the story, but I really enjoyed it. It's a new twist on vampires, fe, witches, and humans. Before reading please check triggers!

The vampires are slowly dying. The vampire elders make a deal with the king. He will wed one of their vampires in exchange for peace. Kallista was the unfortunate one to be chosen. She's one of the vampires that is dying from the blight, but the king doesn't know that. He was supposed to be getting one of the strongest from their bloodline. Now she has to survive the blight and the king. It's not an easy task. The king is a cruel man, and he has plans for her. He has a brother who she thought was just like the king, but turns out she might have been wrong. Zevrin and Kallista are attracted to each other. They know it's dangerous to be together, but they can't help themselves. She puts her trust in him, but that may have been a bad decision. Whose side is Zevrin really on?

This had such a strong premise and definitely delivered on the darker, more political fantasy vibe.
Kallista was easily my favorite part. She is angry, betrayed, and very aware of how little control she has, but she refuses to just accept it. Her energy really drives the story, especially as she starts uncovering what is actually going on.
The court setting is full of secrets, and there is a constant feeling that no one can be trusted. I liked the mix of political intrigue and darker elements, even if it got a little dense at times.
The dynamic between Kallista and Zevrin is very much enemies-to-lovers with a lot of tension and mistrust. It is more slow-building, and I did wish we got a bit more emotional development between them in certain parts.
There is a lot going on plot-wise, which keeps things interesting, but can also make the pacing feel a bit uneven.
Overall, a dark, intriguing fantasy with a strong main character and plenty of tension, especially if you like political stakes and slower-burn romance.

A gritty, captivating, no holds barred romantasy that is beyond spectacular! Vampires, fae, political games, torture, secret alliances, a mad and dangerous king you hate enough you want to be the one to slice his throat open, and the kind of enemies to lovers tension that only exists when you hate with every fiber of your being and still want them enough to pin them to a wall, and you CAN NOT get enough. The politics are a spot on blend of prejudice, lack of empathy, power, and greed, the characters are outstanding with Kallista being the kind of heroine you crave who will pay whatever price to save a few, a cunningness built out of necessity, and a heart that makes her the reason an entire kingdom would happily revolt, while Zevrin is the hot and cold general you love to hate, brilliant enough to play a dangerous game, sexy enough there may be some drooling involved, and falling so fast he’d blow a secret coup just to save the girl. A character driven, completely brilliant, romantasy read that you will eat up and beg for more of.

4.5 ⭐️

I don’t even know where to start. I’ve been falling into reading slumps quite often lately, and only a few books have managed to pull me out of them. This time, it was this beautiful book.

The premise, tropes, and artwork initially drew me in and had me applying for the ARC, but I went in without any real expectations. The beginning gave me vibes of Perfect Crown (the K-drama I’m currently watching), mixed with a little bit of Barbie: Princess Charm School, which honestly had me hooked right away.

The opening chapters were really intriguing, and the world-building was well done while still being easy to get into. The characters, plot, and political intrigue were all executed beautifully, and everything built up to such a satisfying ending.

I absolutely loved this and would highly recommend it to any fantasy or paranormal reader, definitely check this one out, it’s genuinely so good.

This one hurts in a way that will have you begging for more. Kallista Marcellane is being forced into a marriage with a tyrant king, by people who are supposed to protect her. Not to mention the blight is weakening her and now she's having to put her life in the hands of zevrin vexwrath, the kings brother and fierce vampire hater. This is a very very slow burn, but wow is it impactful. The world building is beautiful and the characters might just drive you crazy. I need book 2 desperately after that cliffhanger. I'm excited to see just what will happen to kallista, zevrin and the rest of their people. There are hard themes throughout the book and the material is quite dark, but the story is told in a way thats poignant and hits deeply. It brings real life problems into a fantasy world where magical creatures exist with problems and prejudice just like us. It's heartbreakingly beautiful and I devoured this story.

Review for Radiant Vows by Jen Stevens
First of all, that prologue?! Excuse me?! I was already highlighting after the first sentence.
2 brothers, one raised to be the golden king, cruel and barbaric and the other raised to be a quiet, calm shadow full of anger and the general of the kings army.  A vampire race on the brink of destruction with Kallista sent to be a Queen with hopes of saving their lives. General Zevrin has his own plans for his brother that could be considered treason and his own secret lineage might hold the answers. Will he and Kallie realize they can work together for a common cause and maybe learn to trust each other along the way? Will betrayal in the last moments be the end? I absolutely loved this book and would recommend this slow burn, enemies to lovers  to anyone!

If you’re into romantasy that feels equal parts soft devotion and tension you can feel through the pages, Radiant Vows absolutely delivers.

This one leans hard into emotional connection, loyalty, and that “I would burn the world for you—but gently” kind of love. The writing pulls you in fast, and the pacing keeps things moving without losing those quieter, intimate moments that make you care. The chemistry? It simmers more than it explodes, but trust—it works.

The world-building is there without being overwhelming, and the romance feels intentional, not rushed. It’s the kind of book that leaves you sitting there for a minute after finishing like… okay, I’m not ready to leave this yet.

⭐️ 4.25 / 5 stars
🌶️ 2 / 5 spice (more tension and emotion than explicit scenes)

Perfect if you’re in your romantasy era but want something that focuses just as much on connection as it does on plot.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 🌶️

This book had me hooked from the very beginning!

Kallista may be slowly dying from what is known as the blight but that doesn’t stop her stubbornness and ability to face horrible things when all hope seems lost. The king she’s forced to marry is the definition of a monster and her strength and resilience is something to admire even if it’s fueled purely by rage.

Then we get to General Zevrin (King Alaric’s half brother) who seems to be nothing short of the kings loyal lap dog but looks can be quite deceiving. And the slow burn between him and his brother’s bride had me chomping at the bit.

While this story spends most of the time discussing strategy, trading secrets, and setting plans in motion.. the action packed ending had my emotions ALL over the place.

And that ending?!? 🤯

I need book two NOW 😭🫶

What a great start to this dark romantasy duet! I loved the political intrigue element in this enemies to lovers. Kallista is chosen by a lottery selection to be the Radiant King’s vampire bride in hopes to save the vampire species from extinction. While she’s dying from the Crimson Blight, the weaponized sunlight the palace is soaked in also weakens her. Zevrin is the kings brother and general with secrets of his own. As the kings general, is he as much of a “monster” as his brother? Is he an ally that can be trusted?

This book is a definite slow burn but I felt like enough layers that continually being peeled back throughout to keep you engaged in the story. Learning who to trust and forging new bonds. The hatred and banter between Kallista and Zevrin is so good. I need the next book asap!

Thank you Jen Stevens for this ARC in return for an honest review.

Kallista is a vampire, and has been chosen via a lottery as a bride for the Radiant King as a deal for peace.

There is a blight spreading, causing the vampire race to fall ill and die. Kallista has been affected by this blight and is dying - she has maybe months left to live if she is lucky, so she has nothing to lose and begrudgingly accepts this deal.

She is escorted from her home to the Radiant Kingdom by General Zervin (the King’s brother) and this is where the slow burn starts (believe me, it is a SLOW burn, but worth it!)

I was sucked in from the very beginning. The twists were great and that ending?!! I can’t wait for book 2!

Absolutely loved this! This enemies to lovers, vampires, witches and shifters, and slow burn nearly did me in! At first, I loved to hate Zevrin, but there was always something about him...he definitely redeems himself, and we learn so much about him that makes everything make sense, even when he might betray Kallista (but no spoilers!). Kallista tugged on my heart strings throughout the whole story. Definitely check triggers! But I love how she dealt with everything she was given, even when she wanted to give up. The slow burn was a great addition to the story, and added a ton of sexual tension! Adore Kallista's friend Elara, and was kinda hoping Elara gets to have a romance with Rowan or one of Zevrin's trusted soldiers. Tons of plot twists, I never knew what was going to happen, and I absolutely loved it! That ending killed me though, I need to know what happens next!

This book was amazing! I was sucked in from the very beginning, who ever heard of a sick vampire? Not me!! Kallista was a very relatable main character. You got to see just how much she was pushed into doing something she didn’t want to, all for the greater good. She had a continuous struggle with herself on if she would just give up or to keep fighting. Zevrin really was her enemy and it was interesting to see their dynamics and to slowly learn more about him. He was quite the secret keeper!

There was just enough detail in the world building to keep you informed but not overwhelmed or bored by the information drop. The information was slowly given throughout the book. The plot was quite excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed the ending and I can tell you I did not see the plot twist coming! I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

Vampires, fae, deranged king, direwolves, witches.....what’s not to love.

I loved this book and can not wait for book 2, especially after that damn cliffhanger the Jen threw at us.

Kallista is a great FMC (unwilling vampire bride to king), thrust into this seemingly impossible situation and finding an ally and more in Zervin (the General and brother of the deranged king) is perfect romantasy.

You feel for Kallista and what the King does to her and how Zervin has to stand by and not react, not intervene, it’s quite heartbreaking at times.

The world building and character development and reveals were great and book 2 literally can’t come fast enough. Thank you to Jen for the ARC.

I love a good vampire story, but Radiant Vows still managed to surprise me 🖤

The enemies-to-lovers tension between Kallista and Zevrin? So good. It’s a slow burn, but the buildup is worth it—every interaction had me hooked 🙂‍↕️ The mix of political tension, dying magic, and that whole “sacrifice for peace” setup made the story feel intense without being overwhelming.

Kallista is strong but real, and Zevrin… frustrating in the best way 😩

And that ending?? I’m not okay. I need the next book immediately. 🙂‍↕️

Dark Days and Shadowed Starlight

Kallista is a Vampire that has roamed this earth more than 300 years. When you live that long you witness enough things that make you question what most don't. You know, with age comes wisdom. The Radiant Kingdom is sunshine incarnate and with that comes the Radiant King. Alaric has an agenda only few are privy to. His brother The General is a serious yet complicated man. When any of the three meet in any form expect any and everything. This story is unpredictable. The twists are unguessable. The treachery is sensational. This book left me with my mouth agape waiting for it's sequel.

This book is a whirlwind, almost nonstop action. Kallista is a dying vampire who is being forced into a marriage with the terrible Alaric in hopes of saving her species. He sent his brother Zevrin to retrieve her and guard her. So much of this book is spent with Kallista as a pawn in someone else’s game, trust is a luxury she’s doesn’t have. Though she’s amazingly resilient as she’s staring down the very real possibility of her dying. It’s not a short book, but there’s lots of story. I’m excited that it’s meant to be a duet because I really want more of Zevrin’s story. I also need to know what happened to Sorrow and Alaric.
