I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book by Karen Louise Hollis.

Isobel isn’t happy with her life at the moment, everything that happens seems makes her more unhappy, her work, and what she sees on the TV.

When her friend Zoe starts dating again, Isobel thinks that maybe she should start looking dating again too.

Reading about Nathan, and seeing him in person hasn’t changed her opinion of him, she thinks he’s after attention with all the stories printed in the papers.

Nathan loves cats and has quite a few at his house, all of them have their own traits.

When Isobel sees her ex at her workplace, she’s shocked to know that he’s tracked her down and he even turns up at the cat’s rescue centre when she’s delivering their orders.

But when he turns up at her home, Isobel makes a decision to move and find another job as living and working at the same firm doesn’t feel right now after what happened.

Nathan and Isobel begin to get to know each other, even though she knows he has cats that he adopted in his house.

I loved the characters and the cats, especially Lena and Mary who looked out for Lena when Nathan brought her home.

The story covered some hard topics.

I can’t wait to see what happens next for Nathan and Isobel and whether she will learn to love cats.

I highly recommend this book.

This book is warm and full of heart and humour. It does also have its darker moments and I felt the way that was portrayed told us a lot about all the characters.

The writing style flows so nicely and is easy to read. I finished it in one sitting.

My only sadness is that this is a novella. I'd have loved to see this story and these characters with the depth of a full-length novel. Considering it as the novella that it is, I have to say it's a five star read for me that I'd recommend to people who love animals and the grumpy-sunshine trope.

Isobel is feeling a bit lonely, her flatmate Zoe has a new boyfriend and is all loved up.
Nathan is a vet who has appeared in the local paper billed as Super Vet due to saving a big cat at the wildlife park.
Isobel is a delivery driver and has to deliver to Cats4Life Rescue and Rehoming Centre when she bumps into Nathan, the two get off on the wrong foot.
This book has wonderful characters, a storyline that has a light touch balanced out with a darker story within but with an uplifting ending and cats galore for the cat lovers.
