I genuinely dislike this book. So, so much. First, it says it’s a ‘best friend’s sister’ trope and it is, I suppose. More than that, it’s a cheating trope. Second, if Canon had died, I would’ve been satisfied. If he had just been a shitty person, I could maybe understand the cheating. Nope. Third, Kyla is one of the worst people I’ve ever read about that I was supposed to like. She was a bad person, through and through. Ugh. I have no power in my house or else I would’ve DNF’ed. This book made me angry.
The writing was fine. The ending felt a bit rushed. One minute, the characters had issues. Then, they loved each other and found peace in one another and no one was angry. Canon, the fiancé, just kind of left. Kyla didn’t care (shock). If you like a cheating trope, this book will appeal to you. If you like unlikeable characters, this book should please you. If you’re looking for a best friend’s sister trope, not here. Maddox and Tysin barely interacted besides being in a band together. If you’re interested in reading about a band, that is a detail for this book and doesn’t really matter in the scheme of things besides being the reason they are on the road together.
