The Kith
From the world of The Direction comes The Kith Trilogy!
In the 23rd century, society is struggling after a brutal war against a totalitarian organization.
Ethan is a a single dad and a former soldier with a dark and violent past.
Nothing in Ethan’s life has been normal. The only thing he remembers from his childhood is running away from a mysterious facility when he was eight. That’s when Ethan was taken in by The Kith, a nomadic group hiding in the far northern mountains. For years, The Kith accepts him as their own. But when tragedy strikes, twenty-five-year-old Ethan chooses to run instead of facing his mistakes.
After ten years of being in a rebel military, fighting against the oppression down south (and making plenty of poor choices along the way), Ethan is now a single father searching for forgiveness and trying to leave his mistakes in the past. With God as his compass, he takes his five-year-old son on a journey northwest to find the family he abandoned.
Challenges abound in the wild, and when the journey takes a soul-shattering twist that he never expected, Ethan finds himself questioning his choices yet again.
Can Ethan find his family and build a stable, faith-filled life for him and his son? Or will his dark past return to rip away his hope of redemption?

Although reading The Direction Series first is highly recommended (to avoid minor spoilers) The Kith Trilogy can still be enjoyed without having to do so!

May 12, 2026Ahh! Big cliffhanger. But let’s back up a minute.
This book is soooo good, so deep, with intriguingly complex characters!

Also, I enjoyed seeing how Elisabeth Nadler’s writing has grown and improved.
After reading The Direction Series, which I think will always have a special place in my heart, I was really excited to read more of Ethan’s story. And this book did not disappoint, far from it!
Ethan has regrets—so many regrets—some of which you know if you read The Direction Series, most of which is still a mystery to the reader at the beginning of this book. But he has a young son to look after now and his role as a soldier has ended.
To avoid spoilers I do recommend reading The Direction Series first. Though you don’t have to, it’s an amazing story. And books two and three also give more of Ethan and Gabe’s story, the important roll Ethan had to play in fighting the totalitarian organization this book mentions, why he couldn’t stay at Bear Base, and instead (in this book) is risking the travel to find the nomadic people who took him in as a child, The Kith.
But...what he finds is not The Kith he remembers. Mystery abounds as to what’s really going on with the people he does find and what’s wrong beneath their outwardly peaceful appearance.
At first I wasn’t so sure about Bekah but I grew to love that character, then plot twists😧…I shouldn’t have been surprised because it was true to her character but...I can’t say much more without spoilers.
Mary at the beginning was very creepy but also intriguing and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her in the next book.
There’s another character I didn’t trust from the moment he entered the story, though I wasn’t sure if he really was a bad guy or a gray character, you do find out.
There was lots of scripture used by the characters, and sometimes misused. The theme of be-careful-how-you-use-scripture was done amazingly well!
This is a fantastic start to the new trilogy, I’m really glad book two comes out in a few days! I can’t wait to read what comes next!☺️

Uniquely Suspenseful
I truly enjoyed The Direction series, and am thoroughly enjoying this as well. It tugs at so many strings for me. Suspense, romance, action, and all while keeping me grounded in my Christian roots.
