To be sent to jail with papers marked ‘never to be released’ is the ultimate punishment in the Australian judicial system. There is no death penalty. ‘Never to be released’ is reserved for the worst of the worst. And, except for two cases – which are included in this book – these days ‘never-to-be-released’ means exactly that. The only way out is in a black rubber bag with a zipper up the middle, having died either by misfortune, suicide or old age. In this, his fourth book in the series, Paul B. Kidd, Australia’s serial killer and ‘never to be released’ authority, includes more cases that are the most evil of the evil, where the perpetrators have been sent to prison without the possibility of parole – ‘never to be released’.
Paul Benjamin Kidd (1945) was an Australian author, journalist, and radio show host. From 2001 until 2020, Kidd was the co-host of the 2UE George and Paul weekend show with George Moore; since 2020, he has co-hosted Weekends with John and Paul with John Stanley on 2GB. - Wikipedia
Paul B. Kidd writes very well, this is the second book of his that I've read. This book, just like the other, is very well researched. I find it very interesting that many horrific murders and serial killers have come out of NSW (I'll remain in Victoria, thanks). I would be interested to know if this is coincidence because Kidd lives in NSW making it eaiser to talk to police who were involved in the cases or if there is evidence that the more well known cases come from Sydney. It is easy to tell that Kidd is respectful of the law, the victims, and the families of both victims and offenders. I'd very much like to meet Kidd and chat about the current issues in Australian crime.
