The New Normal: Life After Trauma is an excellent book and resource. I was pulled in from the first page where the author shares the relatable effects of living a life where trauma has such a sizable role. Yet it is not a book that trauma dumps and leaves the reader feeling “slimed.” The author shares new concepts and research to offer understanding and healing to readers to make sense of their own trauma and the bigger world we all live in. I was inspired by the author’s journey, her vulnerability in sharing, and the way she synthesizes complex sociological concepts into an easy to understand narrative. I’ll be sharing this book with others.
