To Kill a Ghost is the third and final installment in Holly Day’s House of Horrors trilogy. This paranormal romance gives a lovely conclusion to the series. Arawn Sage, a psychic has been plagued by the ability to see ghosts his entire life. The warden's ghost, from the House of Horrors, where Arawn was previously held captive, haunts and manipulates him, giving him no peace.
Arawn surprisingly discovers a solution in Zidane Dodd, a vampire who has been staked and imprisoned in a castle basement for nearly a year. Arawn finds that touching a vampire acts to keep ghosts away, silencing his ghostly visions. Arawn uses Zidane as a safety blanket, and eventually Zidane begins to feel protective towards him. As a romantic connection develops, Zidane falls for Arwan. Thus begins Zidane 's redemption, and as they work together to permanently eliminate the warden’s ghost, Arwan begins to develop feelings for his vampire.
I loved how Holly handled the development of our heroes' characters. Zidane’s transition from a bad guy to a concerned protector for the traumatised Arawn, was so cute, he can't stop himself from fussing over Arawn . Also, as Arawn feels safer, his courage grows and I adored how he began to be cheeky and cheerful around Zidane and others.
It was also great to come across characters from previous books, like Rufus, Gregory, and their loves, delivering the perfect ending to the series.

No sabía muy bien qué esperar cuando empecé este libro, es el primero de la autora y entré casi a ciegas porque ni siquiera estoy segura de haber leído la sinopsis completa. Pero me gustó mucho, fue rápido de leer (lo terminé en unas horas) y Arawn y Zidane fueron muy lindos de leer.
Este es el tercer libro de una serie y como aparentemente me gusta el masoquismo, no he leído los dos primeros y salté directamente a este que fue el primero que se cruzó en mi camino así que obviamente hubo muchas cosas que no entendí del todo, aún así no creo que se me haya escapado mucho de lo que pasó en los libros anteriores, pero pienso leerlos de todos modos para asegurarme.

Staked and sorry!🏰👻
I always find Holly Day's stories unique and imaginative; this one is no exception. Here Arawn, an emotionally damaged psychic who can see and hear ghosts, is beleaguered by the ghost of an evil warden from the locked up facility where he was exploited and abused throughout his life until rescued by some vampires and shifter wolves and brought to live in an old castle. He's going bonkers because this warden ghost won't let up trying to convince Arawn to round up his fellow rescued psychics and deliver them back to captivity.
The big twist is the unexpected help Arawn receives from the vampires, particularly Zildane, who was staked and kept in the basement until the castle residents agree he could be useful. And therein lies the start of a gradual romance between Arawn and Zildane and a plot to foil the warden ghost. Zildane, in fact, became my favorite character thanks to his patience and concern for Arawn at every turn.
I enjoyed it, but the full complement of characters residing at the castle are in almost every scene (at least every chapter) and tracking/distinguishing them all was a bit of work. And, yes, reading the previous stories in this series is highly recommended. I did read the previous, but with a long enough gap in between that only the vague outline of what went before stayed with me. That was sufficient for me to enjoy this one and understand the whys of the PTSD the former prisoners experience.

This is the third book in the House of Horrors series and you really should read these books in order. This book focuses on Arawn Sage and Zidane Dodd. Arawn is able to see and communicate with ghosts. Since being rescued from the House of Horrors, he can't stand to be touched. Unfortunately he is being mentally and physically attacked by the warden who used to run the house. He is harassed every waking moment. He is unable to sleep due to nightmares and the warden's ghost's actions. Until one day he accidentally finds out that when he touches a vampire, the ghost can't bother him anymore. But only while they are touching. After not eating nor sleeping for weeks, Arawn is desperate enough to go the the basement and seek out the vampire that has been staked there for nine months. Zidane is a vampire who was tricked and followed the wrong leader. The cost was his being staked. Now he lies there and is unable to feel anything. But as the members of the castle talk to or around him, he is slowly starting to feel like he is home. This is their story. I really liked how Zidane went as slowly as Arawn needed. He wanted to both support and protect Arawn. Something strange for Arawn as he never had that before in his life. Now all they have to do is figure out how to cage a ghost. I enjoyed seeing all the characters from the previous books as well. The book is well written and easy to read. I really enjoyed this book.

To Kill a Ghost by Holly Day is the third in a trilogy. As such, it includes my favorite part of a series' books, and that is revisiting characters from previous books. This book centers on Arawn who is mentioned briefly previously. He can see ghosts and can’t stand to be touched. The other main character is Zidane, who occurred more often in the earlier books, and is a staked vampire now. Arawn accidentally discovered that a vampire’s touch prevents him from seeing ghosts. The book revolves around the title: how to kill a ghost, who by definition is already dead. It was entertaining to watch Arawn and Zidane, assisted by Rufus and Gregory (vampires with their own books in the series), try different techniques in their quest to rid themselves from a particularly evil ghost. We also meet a couple of nice ghosts who show no interest in going into the light or whatever comes next. I realize Arawn has a traumatic past leading to his touch aversion, but he was a little hard to empathize with. Even though Zidane was staked for being a bad guy, Arawn brings out his protector side and he turns into my favorite character in the book! Arawn Sage has lived his whole life seeing ghosts, but the return of the sadistic warden who once held him captive pushes him to breaking point. Sleepless and tormented, he stumbles upon an unexpected discovery: vampires repel ghosts. Enter Zidane Dodd — currently staked and stuck in a castle basement, bored out of his undead mind — who becomes Arawn’s accidental safe haven.
What starts as Arawn simply using Zidane as a ghost deterrent slowly shifts into something far more tender. Zidane’s evolution from morally grey vampire to quietly devoted protector is beautifully handled, and as Arawn begins to feel safe, his personality blossoms in subtle, lovely ways. Their growing bond feels earned, especially as they work together to end the warden’s hold over Arawn for good.
With returning characters woven in and emotional threads neatly tied off, this book balances creepy atmosphere, redemption and sweet romance in a way that makes it a strong, fitting finale to the series.

I absolutely loved this book. Arawn was a quiet frightened young man who found himself in an unpleasant situation and with the help of (Zidane) a staked vampire in the basement found a peace he hadn’t had for a long time. These two men helped each other, eventually Arawn removed the stake from Zidane and they stayed together because of a mate bond, want and safety then responsibility. I really didn’t like the Warden and was so happy when he found himself overtaken with the light. Quite a fitting end in my eyes. All of the different mate bonds in the castle were also a great and really added to the overall story. I definitely enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone who loves mm vampire and ghost stories with happy endings.

Like all the books in this series, it's a bittersweet hurt/comfort story, but ultimately with a very happy ending.
To Kill a Ghost was a very satisfying ending to this series, although I would have loved it to go on, but it tied up most loose ends. Although each book follows a new couple, because of it's size, it feels like an ensemble cast with most characters being very present in the story - which is fantastic!
This series is definitely linked, and I highly recommend you start at the beginning with Rufus the Dead, you would be horribly lost otherwise and miss the nuances that make this series great.

Zidane being used as a shield for Arawn amused me. He's got a lot going on in his head, but his body is out of commission for anything else. Arawn's quiet confessions and night terrors call to his protective instincts. Arawn's escape from the House of Horrors isn't complete. The Warden creeped me out and became more violent as the story went on. I liked that Arawn is not only cunning but strong enough to bring a solution to their group. I'd love to see more of this series. I want to know that Prophecy has a change of heart, Minerva finds true happiness, Himeros, Kratos, and all the other psychics' stories.

He's an evil, violent man who's hurting Arawan.
Zidane is a vampire being held prisoner by stake for his actions against the group.
He's not actually a bad guy, he just got caught up in believing he's more than what he actually is.
In reality he comes to realize that he just wants to protect Arawan.
I really enjoyed seeing Arawan confront the warden and come up with a solution to deal with him.

Poor Arawn, Zidane was simultaneously the best and worst person for him. Worst because Arawn hated being touched but needed it for protection. It was bearable when Zidane was staked but having him all aware and playful was complicated. I enjoyed watching Arawn find the strength to confront his demon and find a way to free others from the hell he and the others had already escaped. I really hope to see more of these psychics.
