Love demands you surrender all…
Niccolo Darian was a man in conflict. Married for six years to a woman he neither loved nor wanted, and at the same time, friend to a woman he wanted like no other. The tenacious grip he held on his integrity and honor was constantly being tested. Finding his wife in bed with another man should have been painful, but all he could think about was how soon he could claim the woman of his desire.
Mari Quinn knew it was wrong, but she’d been in love with her married boss for years. Accepting that he was beyond her reach, she settled for being his friend and confidant. Respecting his commitment, and certainly admiring it, she was determined not to do anything to compromise his relationship with his wife. But her resolve shattered in one night.
In an effort to console Niccolo, Mari gave him more than a shoulder to lean on. Months later, the consequence of that night irrevocably changed their lives.

The first romance novel I ever read was Cinderella! I devoured Disney’s version of romance until I was eleven, and then I discovered Mills & Boons. In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.

I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.

Writing romance novels has been a dream I never knew I had. It was born out of suddenly having a little extra time with the kids out of the house. I absolutely love this creative outlet.

Author’s Creed
I like women strong, and my men stronger!
I like my sex raunchy but meaningful!

A fellow reviewer called the male 'hero', who's not only abusive mentally and physically but also abducts a kid from her mother to force that woman to marry him, 'stubborn'. Stubborn. Yeah, right.

“I want to be Yours” is the debut novel from author D.M. Mortier. Be warned: a lot of the vernacular in this story is British.

Niccolo “Nico”: rules the world he lives in. Imagine when he comes home early one day and sees his wife (Celina) of six years sleeping with another. Being the overly possessive and crazy Italian that he is he deals with this situation as one would suspect he moves on and takes his revenge. Crushing on his partner and friend Mari for years now Nico finally has the opening to do something about it. What happens when two friends cross that line and one night of hot passion changes their lives forever?

Mari: is a world renowned hacker. Because of her mother’s decisions regarding men Mari has kept her heart guarded and has vowed never to become any man’s option. Attracted to Nico from the beginning she knew he was off limits. But when he comes to her with need and heartbreak can she turn him away?

A need that only the other can fill turns into an unhealthy obsession and a turbulent relationship.

(Possible Spoiler): This is a slight turn on your typical Billionaire/Virgin/Baby tale (End Spoiler)

He’s portrayed as being dominant but really is a bully and very forceful. She is naïve and very gullible only 25 to his 38. You know the typical doormat in books like this. One minute they are fighting the next second it’s all about sex. I was getting whiplash with all the back and forth issues between these two.

It was a lot of unnecessary detail in the story i.e. mentioning characters who would never appear again. The premise made no sense. He has around the clock security for his wife and all this technology to keep track of her she had been cheating for years and now his staff decides to tell him 6 years later? His only upset is that his siblings would get wind of this.

Because his wife had portrayed him in such a public way he has turned his heart into stone. Although he cares for Mari he can’t commit to her and for her that just isn’t enough. I do like that the author does a flashback scene so we can see how the two met and their infatuation with each other. She was very assertive in the beginning and then turned into a doormat over his maleness. The flashback although I enjoyed it was way too short. The author gives the reader some great details that were never explored then flips back to the present. I found that happens a lot with this book there are certain situations that added some depth to the story like Mari’s mothers past that the author never explored. Majority of the story was the two of them fighting each other and then giving into their lust or him bullying her with his nastiness.

The time line is all over the place. The first half of the book was told in second person (narration) with limited dialogue between the characters. I was really confused about Mari’s resistance she wants to be with him he wants her what's the problem? Especially if you are going to end up sleeping with him anyway. About 43% the book hits a turning point finally some action
(character interaction). But then it ends the same with denial then angry lust - filled sex. I honestly didn't see or feel the connection between the two he wasn't an alpha male but a bully.

He often referred to Alex as a possession. Not someone cherished or loved. I don't know how much more description I could take of her puckered nipples. At one point I wanted to scream, “we get it she's aroused.” The non-responses irked me i.e. Alex missing, he hadn't said I love you but the relationship progressed to finality. All the way to the end the fighting, the issue of I'm not sleeping with you and his nasty barbs continued. Usually in books the conflict at some points leads to something and comes to an end. I just felt this book was very anti-climactic what was the point of it all if nothing got resolved? What it took for him to admit his feelings for her was so surreal and bizarre. This whole story was her putting him before her own needs right up until the epilogue.

I know it takes a lot for anyone to put their work out to the public and the process of writing a book isn’t easy. I applaud the author for sharing her work with others. This review is just one readers opinion not the gospel please judge this book for yourselves and not on one opinion. Although I didn’t particularly care for this story others may in fact love it.

First of all, what person would subject themselves to humiliation like Mari does. It is not that much love in the world. I felt nothing between the two. He was ridiculous, he was abusive mentally and physically. You kidnap my child and then use her a leverage. I didn't enjoy this book, I was pissed off most of the time. Yeah it ended ok. Whoopee!

CRAZY S.O.B

Talk about Alpha males!!! Nico pissed me off. The way he treated her after she told him she was pregnant I would chopped his manhood off. Then to just kidnap them after seeing her 4 years later. How is he blaming her for him not being in his child's life. Then she kept making me mad by first standing up to him but a soon as he put his lips or his hands on her, she quickly relents!! Ugh frustrating story!

Nico is a sap and a bully who is married
Mari has worked for Nico the bully for 5 yrs and believes herself in love with him
Nico's wife is caught in bed with another man
Nico is hurt, rushes to see Mari for some TLC
Mari sleeps with Nico even though she is a virgin who, in the last 5 yrs, has successfully avoided sleeping with Nico. Yet, her resolve crumbles as soon as HE demanded it.
Awkward is the only way to describe their ensuing interactions
But wait, da da dum....
Mari is pregnant
Guess Nico's reaction. I dare you.
FF 4 yrs
Nico and Mari unexpectedly meet on the sidewalk
She is with her daughter
Never say Nico is not smart because he can see, at a glance, that the child is his.
He collects the child from Mari, forces the child into his car then proceeds to threaten Mari with his legal hailstones and wealthy fire.
Mari who, supposedly, has a genius IQ defaulted to the cliche "i have no recourse and must bow to he who has the money, else, he will take my child".

How is this plot plausible and why is it such a popular trope? Because we, the readers, have yet to revolt and call BS on this brain-numbing silliness.

That's all I have to say.

This was my first book by this author. A excellent story their first attempt. The story was engrossing and kept me interested until the end.

This is Nico and Mari's story. Mari I liked and totally understood her when you love someone you love them. She was not afraid to say those words however, her man was a different kettle of fish. You can allow the person you love to walk all over you because you love them.

What I had against Nico was he was a double standard JERK!!! Everyone thinks Nico is an Alpha male but in this story that has a different meaning for me. He blames her for something that is entirely his fault she tried her very best to show him the error that he was making. When he realises he made a mistake he does not have the strength of character to say he made a mistake and apologise to her oh no, he just wants to ride rough shod all over her wishes. Sorry that is not alpha male for me. Alpha males are strong and dominant yes I would agree with that. Usually they are honest and just let you know they hear you but they are still doing things their way. Its not strength to blame others for your mistakes. I particularly enjoyed what happened to bring him to his knees at the end. I loved that scene!

All that a aside, I would recommend it as a good read.

"Love is patient and long suffering". Great story-read it!

4.75 stars. Coo toes to the author. This is a great story, with great characterizations and storyline. The story of Niccole " Nico" Darian and Mari Quinn is interesting and engaging with just the right amount of 'crazy' to enhance the flow of the storyline. The two developed a five year friendship because Nico was married and was Mari boss. They secretly cared for each other; but it was not until after Nico caught his wife having sex with another man that he seduced Mari taking her virginity and impregnating her. He denied fraternity because he was thought to be sterile. She loved him, but it took time and patience for him to over come is distrust and possessiveness before he could verbalize his love for to her. They married and had at least 2 children and each others love and respect.

This is my second time reading this book and I totally devoured it within the few hours. I loved it the first time I read it and I loved it even more the second time around.
The writing was excellent the flow was effortless and the characters were likeable and funny as hell.
Plot was fresh and on point (even one year later).
I took a chance buying this book and it was well worth it. You can't go wrong with this one.

Loved it, of course but...

The stupid masculine games men play...! Loved this book, of course but I was screaming at Mari to resist, don't let his alpha male ego make you crazy! Loved it and especially loved the way the author wrote correctly the games men can play, how they play them and our real natural reaction to them and it be okay.

Great first book

If you like stubborn alpha males, this is the book for you. Although Nico is the reason Mari did what she did, he failed to realize it. Still believing it was all on her. I'd have liked for Mari to have more of a back bone but I realize she was over a decade younger than Nicko. All in all, too read.

Beware of Stubborn Alpha!

I love a good alpha male, but Nico was all kinds of wrong to Mari in this book. The last chapter before the epilogue was my favorite. Although a little bit in the extreme, Nico deserved what he got with his high handedness. Mari would probably never have learned that her husband loved her if she had not have given him a scare.

This book made me very angry, because I think the author mistook being dominant / an alpha male with being an dangerous, mysoginistic asshole. All I could think of when reading the book was "this is not a romantic relationship, this is an abusive one".
Basically you have a guy who is a friend, then fucks you (roughly although you're a virgin) to get revenge on his wife, then tells you he only wants sex with you even if he knows you're too young to handle that kind of relationship and to smitten to say no, then call you a whore / golddigger when you tell him you're pregnant, and fires you. Then when faced with the truth, he just kidnaps you and your child, refuses to admit his mistake and blames everything on you, threatens to remove you from your child's life, disturbs the life you took 3 years to build and then decides to fuck you and marry because he just wants to (whether you want that or not, whether you have built a life with someone else is absolutely irrelevant), and uses his child as leverage to get what he wants. That's not love, that's abuse, and I was almost surprised that he didn't hit her at some point.

Nico is a possessive jerk who only think about his feeling and never about Mari's, who only does what he want even if he knows it will destroy her, and consider Mari as his possession and not the object of his affection. Mari is a doormat who doesn't think one bit about his child (who can envision a life with a man who is so disrespectful and so frightening / violent that everyone has to walk on eggshells around him?), and she uses her child as an excuse to get near to the man because she's thirsty instead of calling the police like any sane person would have done.

This story may please some readers who like very dominant men (no judgement here), but it did nothing but piss me off, because I think the author went way too far with the concept (and I like dominant men). Nico could have used a little bit more "softening" and Mari more strength. However, I've read other books by this author and I loved them so I will continue to seek and read her books with pleasure (just not this one).

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although I have one thing that irked me and that's Mari was too damn weak! Don't get me wrong I know she was young and Nico was her first and definitely her soulmate. But damn, after he dismissed her like he did when she told him she was pregnant, she should've toughened up and took the rose colored glasses off! That doesn't mean she had to stop being in love with him. She knew the alpha man he was so she needed to get draw some strength from her mother's situation and use that to grow up and make her strong! That's why she wanted to work to be her own woman so I didn't see where she allowed that to help her with how she dealt with Nico. Especially since she felt he didn't love her! All that ranting and raving she wasn't going to sleep with him was a bit annoying because you knew she was just selling wolf tickets! I think if she had, Nico would've respected her sooner and let her know how he really felt about her. Even if he didn't realize at the time that what he felt for her was love! He was still so haunted by the betrayal of ex wife he'd built a wall so strong he didn't even realize he loved her until right before they married and even then he didn't give in to it.

All in all I truly enjoyed the book and would've loved to know if the second baby was a boy or girl! I think it definitely deserves a second book because I think there's more to these characters. Also, I think there could be a story with Richard and the other guys of Darian Group!

The debut book from D M Mortier was a pleasurable read. I read this book in one sitting and I must say I was impressed with the plot and writing. As a Londoner, I very rarely find IR books which uses the regional dialect of London and the Home Counties to great effect. I felt comfortable in the world that the author painted as it had quite a few similarites to my own working life.

The so-called 'hero, Nico is not an Alpha male that I even liked for most of this book. I felt sorry for his initial perdicament but couldn't relate to his reasoning or his 'Macho BS Attitude'.

Mari is a strong intelligent woman, whose computer expertise as a hacker is the way in which the principal characters meet and develop feelings as a result of their working relationship. Events and emotions overtake them and this leads to the start of a complicated relationship which is both painful and seems to be self defeating for the heroine. Her love for this domineering bully of a man is almost beyond comprehension at times, but it just goes to show that you can't always help who you love.

I made my peace with Nico when he finally realised that he could have lost one of the most precious people in his life without acknowledging his feelings honestly.

I'm glad I read this book. I liked the story and I hoped to read more from this author in the future.

In I Want To Be Yours, meet Nico and Mari, who both have feeling for each other but cannot act on them because Nico is married. Until one night Nico goes home to find his wife Celina entertaining someone in there bed. As a man who care nothing about his wife, I tried to figure out why he was drinking so much at the dissolving of a marriage that he no longer has any interest in. Working late at the office Mari hear a crash and goes to investigate in Nico's office she finds Nico drinking straight for the bottle and offers her assistance, one thing leads to another and Nico [unbeknownst to him the Mari is a virgin] takes her virginity. After their exchange Nico makes in plain to Mari that want he wants and she lets him know that she cannot accept his terms. Mari finds out she is pregnant and tells Nico after they spend another passion filled night together, but instead of him being happy he dismisses her from his life. Four years past and they see each other again and Nico is taken aback at the little girl that he see with Mari. Nico decides that he will move mountains to not only claim is daughter but Mari too.

Okay I provided a star because I actually love that Jesse Powell song... yep other than that I skimmed until about 50% and then I started actually reading the book.

Nico was an ass until like 97% and then it was like AH HAH see I am not that bad at all... yeah didn't buy what he was selling at all. Then I seriously questioned Mari's age... she seriously made me think she was like 18-21 the whole book. I get that Nico is an unstated "Billionaire" but seriously he tossed her around like a ragdoll after he found out about Alex. Even before she was born his comments were gross and the icing on the cake... she was still head over heels in love... I was like um okay seriously he pretty much called you whore in several different languages and you are still all "I love him" Barf, he should have been begging for her forgiveness and not placing blame. All he did was tell her what to do and she did it like a toddler.

I find Alpha males in books over the top hot most of the time, but I don't consider Nico an alpha male at all, he was more of a huge ass.

I am all in...

Great read. I have officially read all of her books. Image only thing that I suggest is that you read them in order not needed per se, but it will have to understand the relationships intertwine with intro of other books in series and her other books. For example, I read this book last, and Relentless Pursuit first. Wanted to find out the tension between Richard and Nico. They had a heathy dose of bromance with each man alpha showing with possession of his woman. Highly suggest her books for quick summer reading.

Love it.

Great story I am glad that Mari help Nick get over his distrust and bitterness. I like how she would tell him all the time how much she loved him and didn't back down from him she got to high handed. They yearbook to him when she first saw was just awesome. The best part was when Nico finally told her that he loved her. How he broke down when thought he lost her. Great read I enjoyedvvery much. Can't wait for the next one. Too demanding

Even though I liked their story, Nico was too possessive and too domineering for me. I didn't like how Mari tried to be a strong woman but was ultimately weak and a doormat for him. Mari let Nico treated her badly verbally, mentally, and emotionally, seemingly more abusive than love.. She definitely loved him, but his love for her came off more like control freak, power hungry, and obsession.

Unexpectedly a very good read!

The story was about Mari and Nicolo (Nicole) and how their relationship develops over time, there were parts of the story that could have had more depth, explaining how they got to that part of their relationship better, so I feel a bit cheated in that respect as this story was good but could have gained a higher rating had the author gone into more details. I still liked the concept of the story so thus my rating I think is fair.

You have got to be kidding

Marie was so annoyingly clingy and Nico was a controlling ass. Even though Marie constantly complained about his controlling ways and possessive behavior she encouraged it. She had no backbone and would take any scraps of affection Nico would throw her way. I had to grit my teeth in frustration when she behaved as if his sexual appeal made her loose all her good sense. And Nico was like a caveman clubbing her over the head with his chauvinism.

I actually loved this book. Nico the alpha male has been love with Mari sense she began working with him and his group. I thought that Nico was going to put a bullet in the guy's but. I loved the fact that Mari stood her ground. Her weakness was Nico. I found myself laughing at times and almost at tears. I enjoyed this.
