Okay reading this was kinda a proud mama moment for me. I've been following Alex as she wrote she book and to see it out in the world now?! Omg I am so proud of this woman!!!

I will say straight off you can tell this is her first book, it takes a minute for her to find her flow and writing style but even in that the talent is absolutely undeniable. Because of that it did take me a minute to really get into reading it and appreciating the story.

But the story?! This had genre elements I don't usually read, crime/private investigator but I really ended up enjoying. The run around to find evidence and looking into suspects, maybe messed up to say but it was fun. The fantasy elements were awesome. Angels and demons, gods that have disappeared to who knows where and curses! AND true enemies-to-lovers. We can't forget the found family that will definitely be living in my heart for some time.

Overall the story was incredible, loved the character developments, and I cannot wait to see what else she comes out with and I look forward to watching her writing develop.

This book had demons, vampires, a very slow burn and a murder mystery. Nymeria is a fallen angel who runs a PI company. She begins to investigate a series of murders, which leads to her getting involved with half demons Halloran and his brother Arwen. Nymeria is a loner with depression and serious trauma. She starts off as a bit of an alcoholic with few people around her. She processes a lot and goes through a lot as the book goes on. Halloran starts off grumpy because he too has history and trauma. Nymeria and Halloran are from opposing races and were taught to hate each other because they are literally from heaven and hell. Eventually they reach common ground and connect. I really enjoyed reading them work through it. Overall, this book was pretty fast paced with a few plot twists that kept the mystery going. I enjoyed reading it and I will definitely pick up the next book to see what happens next.

I had the pleasure of reading this book before it was published. I feel it’s the perfect book for anyone looking for a dark fantasy with a found family that really endears to you. The plot is pretty fun and engaging and I loved the banter and relationships between the characters. Gen is a sweet heart and I lowkey can’t wait to see how she develops as her own person moving forwards!
