Some loves don’t save you.
They burn the world down with you.

What started as survival has become war. Berkley knows someone powerful is watching, waiting for the moment they slip. Every move she makes drags the men she loves deeper into the fire—and this time, there’s no retreat. Secrets are surfacing, enemies are closing in, and the cost of control is climbing fast.

Ronan’s fury is a weapon. Rowan’s guilt sharpens into resolve. Emerson’s restraint fractures as the past refuses to stay buried. Their bond isn’t just desire anymore—it’s loyalty, obsession, and blood-deep devotion. Together, they begin dismantling everything that once felt untouchable.

But vengeance doesn’t care who it takes.
And love doesn’t guarantee survival.

When the ashes settle, one truth
When everything is already burning… the only choice left is how far you’re willing to go.

Ashes of Us plunges into the point of no return—where secrets surface, loyalty turns lethal, and love becomes a weapon instead of a refuge. The truth doesn’t heal what’s broken. It sharpens it. Berkley and the men bound to her are no longer surviving the fallout—they’re stepping into the war it created. Trust is tested under fire, devotion demands blood, and vengeance carries a cost none of them can escape. Some loves don’t ask you to endure. They ask you to burn everything down.

If you crave dark romance, obsessive devotion, found family forged in violence, and a heroine who refuses to stay collateral damage—this is where the ashes ignite. Break Me Better is book three of four and pushes the series into its most dangerous territory yet, and once the war begins, there’s no walking away.

Content This series explores dark and emotionally intense themes, including trauma, violence, and morally gray characters. Full trigger warnings are available in the front matter.

Break Me Better is Book 3 in the Ashes of Us Series and so far my favorite. Talk about burning the world down for the ones you love. The story picks up with Berkley, Ronan, Rowan and Emerson as they find out secrets of their enemies, the methodical planning of bringing them down, the darkness that haunts them and the forgiveness that needs to happen between them. As their love for each other grows stronger, they will stop at nothing to take down the evil that tried to tear them apart.
But will it be enough.....

This book is dark and gritty and hard to put down...I very highly recommend reading this series in order and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 4!!!

Break Me Better (Ashes of Us) by Ava Ruin.
5 of 5 Stars.

This is the third book in this gripping dark romance series, and as the storyline continues I would recommend reading the books in order. The author pulled me right back into the drama from page one, and once again I was fully immersed in the story. Berkley, Ronan, Rowan and Emerson are now working together following the shocking secrets and revelations from the previous book. Berkley knows that their enemies are watching them just waiting for them to make a mistake. However, this time they are united and their bond is stronger than ever, making them more powerful. After three books I am now so invested in these characters and I could not turn the pages quick enough. As for the previous books, there are trigger warnings to be aware of due to the dark and intense themes. I once again felt as though I had been on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading. I am now impatiently waiting for the fourth and final book in this engaging series.

Ava Ruin does not disappoint. Break Me Better is the third installment in the Ashes of Us series. This installment finds Berkley reuniting with Ronan, Rowan, and Emerson. As the men discover the truth about what happened to Berkley and Reign, they declare war on those who hurt the women they love. Berkley had waged war on those men a long time ago, but now she had allies. As the men take Emerson’s little sister and go into hiding at their safe house, they discover that Berkley had been using a hidden room in the house as a command center to spy on those who had hurt her. Her revenge had been in motion for a long time, but it was time to turn up the heat and end this war once and for all. I absolutely love the character of Berkley. She is an extremely well-written character who is tough as nails and loves with all her heart. I highly recommend that you read the books in order. They can be read as stand-alones but you are doing yourself a disservice by not reading this saga from the beginning. I can’t wait for book four!

Rowan, Ronan, and Emerson have found out what happened to the women they love and are on the war path. It has been a long time coming and Berkley has been leading the charge. Berkley has been keeping tabs on those that hurt her and cooking up a plan for revenge. Ronan and Rowan have hurt her as well in ways that cut deep. Will there be forgiveness? Will they be able to take down those that have done them harm? This was a quick read that will keep you turning the pages. If there is something that may trigger you be aware that there is a pages with several trigger warnings before you even start the book. These books don't necessarily need to be read in order but I highly encourage it.

Break Me Better doesn’t ease you in — it shoves you straight into the fire Berkley and her boys have been dancing around since book one. At this point, survival isn’t even the goal anymore. It’s war. It’s vengeance. It’s “if the world wants to burn, we’ll light the match ourselves.” And I ate it up like it was breakfast.

Berkley is in her full “I refuse to be collateral damage ever again” era, and watching her step into that power is addictive. She’s sharp, she’s scared, she’s furious, and she’s done letting anyone else write her story. Every move she makes drags Ronan, Rowan, and Emerson deeper into the chaos, and the wild part is — they want to go. They’re not her protectors anymore. They’re her accomplices.

Ronan is pure rage with a pulse.
Rowan is guilt sharpened into something lethal.
Emerson is restraint cracking open like a fault line.
Together? They’re a storm system with teeth.

The obsession, the devotion, the way they orbit Berkley like she’s the only gravity they’ve ever trusted — it’s messy and intense and exactly the brand of morally‑gray found family this series thrives on.

The plot? Oh, it’s unhinged. Secrets exploding everywhere. Enemies closing in like they’ve got a personal vendetta against my blood pressure. Every chapter feels like someone tightening a wire around your ribs. And the best part is that nothing — nothing — is safe anymore. Not their alliances. Not their sanity. Not their hearts.

This book isn’t about love as a refuge. It’s love as a weapon. Love as gasoline. Love as the thing you cling to while everything else collapses. And it works. It works so well you find yourself rooting for these beautifully broken disasters to burn the whole world down if that’s what it takes to survive.

If anything keeps it at four stars, it’s that some emotional beats hit fast and a few reveals feel like they’re sprinting. But honestly? The chaos is half the charm.

Break Me Better is dark, obsessive, and emotionally feral in all the right ways. It’s the moment the series stops surviving and starts fighting back — and I’m absolutely here for the carnage.

Break Me Better (Ashes of Us #3) Ava Ruin

This isn't the first book by the author that I've read. Break Me Better is the third book in the Ashes of Us Series. The books keep getting better as they go along. Berkeley, Ronan, Rowan, and Emerson are back and things are getting real. They're taking their enemies out one by one.

Berkley is still hardened by what happened to her and her friend Reign. She lets Ronan in first because he's the one who sees her, but when he finds her at Trent's things change. She says she has to stop by her place not knowing that it's their safe house. She finally reconnects with all of them. When asked how she's doing by Rowan this is what she says: “I’m good. Really. A lot has happened, but this… between us, whatever’s rebuilding— it’s healing pieces of me faster than I thought possible. All I’ve ever wanted was to have you guys back. To have Reign back. The revenge… it wasn’t about killing them. It was about proving something— to myself, and maybe to you. I wanted you to see that I was strong enough to come back. Worthy enough after disappearing. After not protecting her.”

Ronan needs stitched up after pulling some stitches. He doesn't want to see the video but he watches it. Then it kills a part of him. Then he learns that Berk is going after the one who stood by and watched them get hurt. Then when Em sees something so devastating it breaks him further. They all learn that the accident that killed their mom as well as Berk’s mom wasn't such an accident. He says this: “All this time. We told ourselves it was an accident. That it was just… bad luck.”

Emerson loses his mind when he sees the video it breaks him to the core. He feels guilty that he didn't protect Reign or Berkley from what happened. It kills him on the inside. Then they get her back just for her to leave again. When she's finally back and gives him the one thing he's been fighting for since he was old enough. He says this to Ronan: “You’re right, you know. I should’ve had more faith. Not just in my gut that told me our dads’ story didn’t add up, but in you. You’ve always seen the patterns the rest of us miss. Have always been able to find the path in the dark. And the one time it mattered, I chose to ignore it. I let my anger blind me. I was hurting, pissed off, feeling like I’d been betrayed. Acting like some stupid fucking kid who thought the world revolved around the fact the girl he loved didn’t choose him. But the real betrayal? Was me. Because I didn’t just doubt you. I doubted her. Berk. I didn’t have faith in her either. And that… If it’s the last fucking thing I do, I’ll make this right. I’ll make it up to you. To Reign. But most of all, to Berk. Because, fuck, I miss her. I miss her so much it feels like my ribs are breaking apart just breathing without her. I don’t care if she never forgives me. I’ll still spend the rest of my life trying to earn the chance. I’ll do whatever it takes, even if it kills me.”

Rowan is hurt the most. He hurt Berk before he knew who she was. Before he knew what really happened to both his triplet and the girl he loves. He still loves her but doesn't think he deserves her love back. When she shows up to the safe house his heart breaks. When asked about his time with Berk before what happened he says this: “Yes. We were kids. We were both idiots. It was private. I had planned to tell you. I wanted you to know. Then that weekend happened. By the time I thought to tell you, what was the point?”

This is the 3rd in the series, and follows Berkley as she continues on her path of vengeance and destruction. She has now been made known to all three of the guys, and Emerson's little sister Kimber. From my understanding, she was 6 when this all went down and Berk disappeared, and now should be roughly 11. Maybe I missed something, but I had a big hang up on everything revolving around Kimber. Her character was written more along the lines of how an actual 6 year old would act, but very clearly stated that Kimber absolutely remembered who Berk was without hesitation. (I thought maybe I misunderstood and she was 6 now, but no...) Also, it looks like Emerson was already involved in a legal battle for custody of her, papers drawn up and being fought and everything, and Berkley was able to move behind the scenes and get things pushed through without any issues... but Emerson was still working for his dad no issue? Dad has to be aware of what Emerson is doing, there's no way you get this far with legal paperwork without both parties being involved, and it wasn't brought up previously.. I dunno, maybe a small thing but all of this seemed fairly believable until that point.
Overall, good read. Did seem to get a little tedious and off-track on the revenge plot-line, more into the orgy plot instead. Which, also made things a little less believable. She's not had sex with anyone since the incident, and now she's having ALLL the sex, anal included, multiple times a day, back to back days, no issues? No building up, just a little lube and full on penetration? This one definitely lost me a little, hoping the next one gets back on track.

This is the 3rd book in the Ashes of Us Series. You do need to read these books in order to get the full story but I promise you won’t be disappointed by reading them. This is a dark romance story with some trigger warnings so make sure to check those out before jumping in.

This book throws us right back in where we find Berk, Rowan, Ronan and Emerson all struggling to come to terms with everything they have gone through and the traumatic secrets that have been revealed and blown all their worlds apart.

Now the four of them know what needs to happen, they need to rid themselves of their fathers and to do this they will need to work together.
Berkley has been waging her own personal war against the people who hurt her but now instead of having 3 people who want to protect her, she now has 3 allies who are with her in her quest to destroy the men who hurt her.

What follows is a story that is explosive, filled with danger, twists and turns and heart stopping moments. This is story where everything is at risk including their hearts.
It is beautiful to see the healing take place as the four of them bond together as they take down their fathers while saving Emerson’s little sister.
I found it impossible to not want them to succeed after all the pain and torment they have gone through. But will they succeed in ridding the world of the evil that is their fathers?

I can’t wait to read more by this author. I have been completed immersed in this story and the characters lives since the first book

This series just keeps getting better and better with each book. That said if you haven't read the first two in this series, you will want to after finishing this. You can read this series in any order but it would make more sense and give you more insight into the characters of each book by reading them in order. Each book so far has ended in a cliff hanger and this one is no different. It is a cliff hanger that has you saying "dang it, when is the next book." This book is really well written and I found myself getting caught up in the events as they happened. I felt the emotions of the characters when they were feeling them. There are secrets that are coming out and things that the characters are finding out about themselves and their lives. This is also a dark romance that I can't get enough of. I can't decide which character I like best because they all just make the book that much better and I couldn't see the books without them in it. There are trigger warnings that need to be taken seriously for this series. If you can read those and be okay, you will love this series as much as I do. Again, this series gets better with each book and they do leave you on a cliff hanger. It happens to be a cliff hanger that I am not mad at because it feels like it is a good spot to stop the book but also has you asking a thousand questions. I can not wait for book 4 of this series. I am so invested in what happens next and where the story will go from here.

Break Me Better is the third book in the Ashes of Us series by Ava Ruin. It continues the intense, emotionally charged Ashes of Us series that takes hold of you right from the very first page. This isn’t just a romance - it’s a raw exploration of survival, trauma, and the messy, jagged edges of love that’s been forged in fire.
If you though the first two books were intense – well, again, Ms. Ruin ups the ante delivering a dark, passionate, and emotional continuance. This is not a standalone, and you will definitely want to read the other two books before diving in here.
As we discovered in the previous books, Ms. Ruin doesn’t shy away from showing the darker sides of love - the obsession, the fear, and the way it can warp and transform you – then she adds the twists that deliver even more intensity and intrigue … and in true Ava Ruin style, she keeps us on tenterhooks as it’s all set to continue to an epic conclusion in ‘Ruin Me Right’ (Book #4).
If you enjoy romance with grit, complex characters, twists, and plenty of danger - then you will probably want to add this to your TBR. The series is not a light read, but it’s one that definitely lingers well after you’ve turned the last page.
Happy Reading…

Secrets are revealed and the four main characters reunite in the next installment of this series. If you didn’t notice I said series, I’m going to stress that it is a series. And you need to start at book one. In saying all that I’m now trying to figure out how to go deeper into Break Me Better without spoiling too much of the first two books.
Well the guys and Berkley have a common goal. It's to ruin the twin’s and Emerson’s dad’s empire. It destroys lives, heck it even destroyed their lives. They are now piecing back together and trying to move forward in their lives. Though it doesn’t start off too easy for Rowan and Emerson, they need to regain Berkley’s trust. They hurt her in ways that they would be unforgiving in any other instance. However their bond doesn’t allow for it. She’s connected to them in ways that she can’t resist.
When they start taking out major players in the organization it seems that it is the beginning of the end, or is it? Being there is the 4th and final book that I'm over here waiting patiently for it. Your task is to jump right in and enjoy the suspense. The twist and turns will have you wanting more!

Break Me Better (Ashes of Us Book 3) Break Me Better by Ava Ruin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ava Ruin has done it again! In her third installment of her Ashes of Us dark romance series, we get to reunite with Berkley, Rowan, Ronan and Emerson. Their, anger and vengeance towards the triplet's father and Emerson's father for the awful stuff they put Berkley and Reign through those years ago. They are going to war for the girl they loved and lost, with her by their side. This was a super quick read. I was engrossed from the first page. I cannot wait for the next book to come out in a few short weeks!

I just finished this book and I already need more. I’m not sure how long I can wait for the fourth book! This is the third installment in the Ashes of Us series, and let me tell you, it is nothing short of phenomenal. I highly recommend reading these books in order because I think you’d be pretty lost if you don’t. I would also recommend just having all three on hand already because as soon as you turn the last page, you will want to dive into the next one. This book was all-consuming for me! I couldn’t pull myself away from it no matter how hard I tried. Okay, I didn’t try THAT hard, but it is still amazing! Just another reminder that this is a dark romance, and the author has kindly provided trigger warnings, so pay attention to them so you don’t dive into something you aren’t ready for. The way that the men in this book take a stand and protect the women they love is swoon worthy in and of itself. Berkley will always be one of my all-time favorite characters, and this book proves why in spades. Buckle up, clear your schedule, and get ready for the ride of your life!

Break Me Better is the third book in the Ashes of Us Series. This is a Dark Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. Each book in this series gets better and better and each time I say it’s my favorite yet. The characters are creative ,connectable and complex and bring the story to life. There may be some triggers for some but if you can push through it’s worth the read. This is a Dark intense story that will have you on the edge of your seat turning the pages. It’s so intense it’s dangerous. These characters keep you hooked and even ends in a cliff hanger. I would recommend reading this series in order as each book follows the last and you get a better understanding of what is going on and you get to know the characters better. I don’t want to give anything away. Do grab a copy and see for yourself how it ends. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author and ready for the next book in this series.

Break Me Better by Ava Ruin is a gripping continuation of the Ashes of Us series, plunging Berkley and her men deeper into a war where love is both weapon and wound. The novel thrives on its dark romance, obsessive devotion, and the found family forged in fire and violence. Ronan’s fury, Rowan’s guilt, and Emerson’s fractured restraint create a volatile mix that keeps the tension high, while Berkley’s refusal to remain collateral damage cements her as a heroine worth rooting for.

The story delivers on intensity—secrets unravel, loyalty turns lethal, and vengeance demands blood. It’s raw, relentless, and pushes the series into its most dangerous territory yet.

The only drawback—and the reason this installment earns four stars instead of five like its predecessor—is the repetition in the characters’ inner monologues. At times, the drawn-out reflections slow the pace and dilute the impact of otherwise powerful scenes.

Still, Break Me Better is a fierce, emotionally charged read that fans of dark romance will devour, setting the stage for an explosive finale.

This book had everything—action, tension, and a whole lotta love. It kept me hooked the entire time. Berkley is such a strong character, and I completely agree with her kind of revenge. Honestly, after everything she’s been through, it feels justified. She’s incredibly smart and such a survivor. I don’t think many women could have made it through what she did.
As usual, the chemistry between the main characters is off the charts. You can really feel the intensity between them, but what I loved most was seeing them slowly start to heal. They still have a long way to go, but this is a start.
One thing though—I honestly thought this was the last book. So when I got to the end… I was frustrated . It ends on a cliffhanger, and the next book isn’t even out yet!! Now I’m just sitting here, impatiently waiting because I need to know what happens next.

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. This is the third book of the amazing Ashes of Us series. I would read these books together because there is a lot of backstory in the other books you don’t want to miss. This is the book I have been waiting to read. I jumped right in and I could not stop until the end. It only took me hours to devour this amazing story. I can’t wait to see what this incredible author will write about next.

Berkley knows that she is being watched by someone very powerful. She is just waiting until they let their guard down so she can make her move. Berkley is making moves in this war that could hurt the men that she loves. She knows that Ronan and Emerson will burn the world for her. Ronan and Emerson know what happened to her and Reign so she knows a war is coming. Will their love survive this war or will it be torn apart with secrets from the past?

Break me better is the 3rd book in the series by Ava Ruin. Yes you do need to read them in order or you will be confused. This is also a dark romance book series. Please read and pay attention to the trigger warnings. In this book healing starts to happen between the main characters Berk, Emerson, Rowan, and Ronan. I love how the author shows them healing and becoming a team again. The darkness of the Dad’s really comes to light, I really thought that the accident was not just an accident. I loved how the four and then getting Emerson’s little sister with them and saving her. Ah just made my heart ache for their made family. Loved it! Then just when you think it will all be resolved and a happy ending comes….you get left wanting more and more that will be in the next book. Ugh now I’m patiently (not patiently) waiting for the next one.

I would suggest reading them in order to get the full effect of the series. It is so hard to put these down and It keeps you so intrigued that you keep turning those pages! This is a dark romance series, so if triggers are a problem for you the author provides a list of them in the book. I love the protectiveness of the men in these! I love the loyalty and forgiveness of Berkley and the other boys. You can feel the emotions of how broken they are.

This is a series that keeps getting better with each installment. This is the third book in this series and a series that needs to be read in order. This is also a series that I have loved reading from the start. This is a darker, obsessive romance story that has characters that are well developed and connectable. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and keep you coming back for more. They will make you want to know what happens to them and care about them as well. There is great growth throughout not only their relationship but the plot as well which makes their story entertaining to read. This is a story you don’t want to miss. It is fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. I look forward to seeing what is next for this series. This is a must read for sure. I highly recommend this story and series.

If you like dark romance with angst, strong emotions, and complicated love. You’ll definitely be hooked on this one. Break Me Better by Ava Ruin is easily the most emotional book in the Ashes of Us series so far. Everything feels heavier, darker, and way more intense. In this you can see how much she’s changed. She's stronger, tougher, but also more broken in some ways. The guys, they’re still everything. They’re protective, obsessive, and completely wrapped around her but you can feel the cracks starting to show in all of them. The tension between everyone? SO good. It’s messy and emotional and makes you not want to stop reading. This book definitely leans darker than the others. This felt like a turning point in the series. Everything is unraveling, and you can tell things are only going to get crazier from here. Can't wait for more!

Berkley, Rowan, Ronan and Emerson are back and now the past has been revealed, they all know what stakes they are playing for and why the events of the past happened and now they are our for blood, even more than they were before because vengeance can be a bond stronger than blood.

One task needs to be completed before the bonds between the four strengthen, something needs to burn and after this has been completed, they work to create a sense of home and family in their new secured location and repair what the past has broken.

Soon, things escalate again and the four move up their plans and begin to dismantle the rotten empire they are fighting against and burn it all to the ground, but will they be able to do this unscathed, or will they burn too? This is a very dark romance with plenty of action and fire within, of all kinds, which will keep you reading until you reach the end.

Break Me Better is the third book in the series. As with the first 2 in the series, I loved this one too!! Now that the 4 main characters realize that the past isn’t what they thought, they also need to figure out how to forgive each other and themselves. Realizing they all had the same goal, they were able to begin the healing process; the love that never left resurfaced. The spice amongst the characters was filled with tension and sexiness. Now that they were back functioning as a group, a plan was formulated to finally end all the trauma by ending the last people behind it. However, as this is not the last book in the series, it does end on a cliffhanger. So, I am patiently waiting for the next one!!

Break Me Better picks up right where the last book left off, so you cannot read this without reading the previous books. While I like the alternating point of view, I don’t like the way it is done. Rather than continuing the story from another POV, the sometimes would repeat the same scene from the other POV, making it feel repetitive. This trope is not for me- It is pretty graphic and the polyamory relationship (with family members) threw me. Looking beyond that, I really like the story and keep reading the series. I like the closeness of the characters and how they worked together to take out the men who caused them harm. There are some intense feelings in this book, pay attention to the trigger warnings.

Book Three does not disappoint. Berkley learns the truth to Reign’s whereabouts and takes that pain and adds it to the list of her revenge against Dean and Bryce. Ronan, Rowan and Emerson see just how deep the vileness of their father’s go. They had no idea the lies they were fed were also behind what took their sister from them. But once that shell of a bomb was dropped they vowed to burn their world to the ground right along with their girl by their side the rest of the way. Together they put plans in motion to destroy their father’s empires from the ground up. Everything was falling into place till it is not and the last thing they thought would be taken was. This does leave on a cliffhanger again to set us up for the fourth and final book Ruin Me Right.

Break Me Better by Ava Ruin
5 Star Review
This book is fantastic. It continues with the trauma of losing one of their own and the realization that they have hurt and laid hands on the one woman that they would all die for. The need for revenge and justice is all consuming and the mission to save themselves while taking down the monsters that were their fathers and their enterprises is all consuming. The relationship between Rowan, Ronan, and Em as they work at regaining the love that they had and ruined with Berkley.
Ava Ruin is a natural storyteller and every book that I have read of hers has pulled me in and refused to let me leave. These books are full of adventure, trauma, yearning, and of course the spice does not disappoint. I cannot wait for book 4!

This series must be read in order, must be read with open eyes, and with caution...triggers abound. Book 3 in this series has me holding my breath and turning pages as fast as I can.

Break Me Better is the sexiest, most disturbing of the three in this series. The ending is almost the biggest climax with the rest of the story leading to the destruction and demolition that only this author can bring! However, I have learned that this author is twisted and gives us the wickedest ending imaginable.

This series is definitely one two read! Looking forward to what comes next from this author!

Having read the previous two books in the series, this one was an absolute must read for me! I could not wait to get straight back into this world and these characters. I loved how the story and the connection between them developed throughout this book. +so much has happened to them so it was lovely to see the steps they were taking.
This story was just as gripping as the first two books as well. As soon as I started reading I was pulled straight into the story and was immediately hooked. There was no chance of me putting this book down until I had finished it. Each book in this series just gets better and better and I cannot wait to see what else is still to come!

Break me Better is the third book in the Ashes of Us Series. Overall, I have enjoyed the series and Ava Ruin really brings it all in this one and it’s intense right out of the gate. I still struggle a bit with the reverse harem and the intensity of that sexual aspect in this book. If that doesn’t bother the reader, then it would be no issue. I do really like the characters and the “big picture” storyline of the series. Pay attention to trigger warnings, which Ava does well laying out at the start of each book. Again, I enjoyed it, but parts of it were just a little much for me personally. With that said, I would read more from this author in the future.
