3.5 stars. That pulled on the old heartstrings, tore at my emotions, and had me reaching for the Kleenex. I love an angsty story. I don't mind having my heart ripped out. Doesn't bother me in the least to shed a lot of tears. I find it cleansing and healing. This gets 5 stars for the sadness factor. It could use a bit of an edit and I would just would have liked it to be a bit longer and more in depth.
I just have to say this story brought me to tears with sadness , joy, laughter , and all around love. Alice and Jack Turner fit so well together . She wanted to be a teacher while he was a firefighter. I enjoyed how they expressed their love for one another . Alice is what in call a strong women who stood by her husband when he was at his worse. Jack made everything feel possible when you love someone . He made an effort to try and get better not just for himself but for his wife and their family . Cancer is something that shouldn't be taking lightly . As through out the story I liked how the author went from the past to the present it gave a good insight of how Alice was feeling after the passing of Jack . They decide to make a baby and I loved that part and to name him after his father Jack Junior . The ending was bitter sweet when they watch the video and went to the cemetery because in a way little jack may not have met and got to know his father physically but he was definitely watching over him . LOVE ,LOVE
I' am still crying as I write this review. This story is only about 130 pages long but it was one of the best love stories I have read. Alice Mills is in her last semester of college. She wants to be a teacher. She is in a bar one night when her eyes connect with a very handsome man. She goes in search of him and runs right into him. His name is Jack Turner and he is a fireman. He has been one for five years. When he meets Alice there is a instant connection. If your heart can take it read this story. It does have a little sex but not too much. The love these two have for each other just pours from the pages. It makes me wander if this was a real life experience. Wonderful story
Sorry but I was expecting a happily ever after. Life is too difficult to spend time reading about death. Reading is my enjoyment so I regret reading this book. I ended up in tears.
This was a great love story! I loved the way they loved each other. The only thing I can find fault with is that I cried through half the book. It was so sad.
Wow! I have never read a love story like this. It drew me in and I could feel all the emotions Alice and Jack felt. Love and death in a beautiful way. Thank you Danica Chandler.
This was a good book. A tear jerker, too. But, it was good and romantic, even at the end. Be sure you have some tissue, it was good, life isn't fair, but it live on even in death.
Jack and Alice met while Alice was still in college. Their courtship was romantic and sweet. Their love showed through their time together. It showed happiness and sadness. It was well written. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
Excellent writing, quick reading. From beginning to end, this romance has you happy, sad and very emotional and you finish the last few pages with a lump in your throat and believing in Angels!!!!
