He lives with his awesome Wifey, their lovable puppy 'Vixen', and under the watchful gaze of their cat-overlords Lana and Gayle. Honestly, he has far too many hobbies for one man to hold down sensibly!
I absolutely loved this book. It is the second novella included in Jon Ford’s Femme Fatales series, and both have been excellent additions. They follow two of the superheroes in the years after they originally travelled to Chicago to fight an alien invasion. This instalment is written from Samii’s point of view, providing a deeper look at what makes her tick as she juggles a hectic life with a lack of money. Her love of animals leads her into a dangerous rescue mission and, oh my God, what she discovers was beyond anything I, or she, expected.
The way Jon Ford has created this world is brilliant. I particularly liked how he uses the multiverse theory to link it to events from his other amazing series, The Ballad of the Songbird. His world-building is incredibly convincing, and once again, he has crafted a fast-paced, tense, and compelling plot. He has a real knack for creating complex, believable characters; Samii is not ‘just’ a superhero, she has many more sides to her, and her devotion to her friends and the animals she protects feels very real.
I also love that there are extra scenes at the end of the book. Make sure you keep reading until the very last page! I can’t wait for the second full novel in this series to be released. This was such a fantastic read!
Once again a fun novella adding depth to the world of the femmes fatales. And obviously appreciated the animal rescue element. More questions than answers at the end but good addition to the continuing saga.
