The Bookstagram Awards Author of the Year for 2024, Dave is a glasses-wearing, bearded human being from the middle of England who likes heavy music with loud guitars, watching movies, and reading and writing creepy stories. He has more hobbies than he should really have time for; playing in a band, hosting a bunch of podcasts, writing, and running a Stephen King-themed YouTube channel. Oh, and he also wrote and published The Ultimate Stephen King Quiz Book in 2022.

Dave lives at home with his wife, sons, and annoying dog. He made his debut as a published fiction writer in 2021's Welcome to the Funhouse, from Blood Rites. He was also a finalist in the Bellingham Review’s 2022 Tobias Wolff Prize for Fiction, and has been published in Psychotoxin Press, The Reach, and on The Horror Tree.

His first full collection of short stories, Once More Round the Sun, was published on his own Always Darkest imprint in August 2024, and won the Best Collection and Best Horror categories of the 2024 Bookstagram Awards.

Yes, I’m biased, but I’m very proud of this book that thinks it’s a found footage horror anthology movie. I had a lot of fun exploring some of the darker, hidden tales from around Kingsworth and hope you all will too. Whether it’s a creepy group chat, an unusual recipe, a horrifying livestream, or even a story set in space…there’s lots to dip into here. Oh, and like every good anthology there’s a wrap-around story to tie it all together!

A quick note to add that Amazon is messing me around with price matching this. So, make sure you grab it for free from: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/dsfzbhsyti

Enjoy!

Found is by far is my favourite works of Mr Mussons work to date.(barring his short story collection, Once More around the Sun which I'm currently reading)

Harry and Jen discover a discarded USB stick which leads to a mysterious Cassette tape. Their curiosity gets the better of them, and horror ensures.

It's a found footage style book with many mini tales spread throughout. We get everything from a Podcaster researching ghostly goings on in Epping Manor, to a futuristic space tale of a parasitic worm. A bit like Carrie we get these written as transcripts/newspaper headlines, letters and audio. I feel Musson really made the format really his own and I had so much fun. Honestly didn't know where the story was going at times in the best way possible. The nonchalant voice of the Curator is very creepy but perfect. In fact a curious theory came to me while reading. I'm wondering if the Narrator of Found is the same as Winning Ticket and Emily and The Rat. They would fit his collection of creepy stories perfectly. I hope we see them again.

As typical with my experience with short stories I preferred some more over the others. My absolute favourites are a Unusual recipe( I'll never look at pork the same again),and the transcript of a driving Fitness livestreamer. They both gave me vibes of the dark real life YouTube videos I love watching. But overall even after finishing. The stories stuck in my thoughts long after.

Wow. This is the first book I’ve read by Dave Musson, even though I’ve followed him on Instagram for years and absolutely love his connection to Stephen King.
I’ll definitely be reading more.
Thank you for making this book available, Dave. The stories are chilling — some are fantastical, others really let your imagination run wild. I loved it and highly recommend it.
I’ll definitely be picking up more of your books.

Devilishly good! Not that there’s any devils involved, or are there…

Harry and Jen find a usb stick that sends them on a search to get a cassette tape to get access to a folder on it. With the password and spoken guide they get access to files revealing dark “stories” within the town of Kingsworth.
They listen intently and enthralled by them.
