One dead garden coordinator. One routine herb pickup. And a crime someone is desperate to pass off as an accident.
Fiona Firth stops by Seacliff Springs’ community garden every Tuesday morning for fresh herbs. Finding Clara Pemberton dead among the rosemary beds turns a familiar routine into a nightmare.
The explanation is convenient. A fall. An accident. Case closed. But the garden tells a different story.
Missing tools. Broken stems. Disturbed soil. And Clara’s final notes suggest she wasn’t just tending plants. She was closing in on someone who’d been stealing from the garden for months.
A blocked promotion. A threatened business. And a secret that was never meant to surface.
As Fiona follows a trail of quiet thefts and carefully staged evidence, she realizes someone didn’t just kill Clara. They’re counting on the truth staying buried.
This time, the clues aren’t just in what people say. They’re in what the plants remember.
The story immerses readers in the delightful world of Fiona Firth, a woman with a magical gift who runs a restaurant, assisted by her clever, special cat Miso and her dedicated staff.
The central mystery begins when Fiona visits the Community Garden one morning for herbs and instead discovers the body of a volunteer named Clara. Detective Linda Walsh takes the lead on the investigation, but she is aided by Fiona—whose sharp intuition and keen senses are crucial—her supportive staff, and her building inspector boyfriend, Tom.
The trail of clues is complex, raising the core question of whether they can uncover the truth. Fiona's abilities gradually but surely expose the deceptions behind wrongly justified crimes. The narrative explores the violation of basic human needs caused by murder, theft, and lies, and the delicate balance required between self-preservation and respect for the lives of others.

As a chef, Fiona knows that fresh ingredients are when preparing food so she always goes to the community garden for herbs on Tuesday mornings. However Fiona didn't expect to find Clara's body in with the rosemary. After a short "investigation" the police deem it an accident: just a fall. But the garden tells Fiona a different story with missing tools, soil all over the place, broken stems, etc. Fiona can't help but follow these clues to find the truth for Clara. Thrilling murder mystery that I couldn't put down!.

Always such a delight to be gradually pulled into Fiona’s world where keen senses and sharp intuition slowly and steadily reveal the deceptions that are wrongly justified by those who commit them.
Lies and theft and murder violate the most basic of needs, including balancing the survival of self against the lives of others.
Although it was my pleasure to receive this ARC from the author, it was completely my choice to share my honest review.
This is another Fiona Fitch story. She is getting involved in another murder and this time it is tied to the Community Garden where she sources some of the herbs she uses at the restaurant. Oh course she is helped with the investigation from her staff and she helps Detective Walsh narrow the field of suspects and helps to solve the case. Very good story and I highly recommend this next book in the series. I received an arc and this is my review.
I enjoy that Detective Walsh includes Fiona in her investigations. I like that she values Fiona’s insights and observations. I LOVE that Miso also helps out. Smart cat. This mystery was quite intriguing. Four suspects. Four different motives. It was neat to observe how the investigation unfolded. I enjoyed reading this story!
Fiona finds the dead body in the herb garden. There are so many different things that are leading her in all different paths to solve this murder. So many twists and turns, I was guessing the whole time. I loved it.
