This book is perfect for those who live on a ranch, work on a ranch, or are very familiar with the ranch lifestyle as parts of this book were very technical. I found myself having to look a few things up as someone who is not so familiar with the ranch life, but enjoys a cowboy romance. This one is for the die hards!
I was not a fan of the writing style, so I think that took away a lot for me with this one. I found it confusing to have dialogue within a paragraph (no breaks) and I'd often have to reread quickly to see who was talking when. The flow wasn't great for me.
The story overall was good. It's a slow burn, but when they meet, it's fire. Lots of descriptive scenes. The first half of the book is on the ranch during a bachelorette vacation which appears to have been a week or longer. It was a VERY long trip. Savannah is a lawyer and is on this trip for her sister who is getting married.
Savannah immediately falls for Declan, who is the ranch foreman on his family ranch. He also falls for her and they spend the week dancing around each other until they can't any longer. However, after the "week" she goes back to the city and leaves Declan.
After a few weeks at home she decides she doesn't want that life, but before she can go tell Declan, boom, he's at her doorstep.
After the ranch, the story moves along at a few months at a time from chapter to chapter. The epilogue gives us a hint this will be in interconnected series, but gives us nothing extra with Savannah and Declan so it isn't necessary to read (unless you want to see where the next story by this author will probably go).
Overall, I don't think I was the intended audience as a city girl. The writing style didn't do it for me, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. Just an ok read, 3 stars. I like how Savannah and Declan end up, albeit the story kind of rushed for the last half with the quick movement of the timeline, but, otherwise ok.
Descriptions so vivid I could reach out and touch them, even the raw smells of livestock. Do you like a detailed resolution? Some books just get to the highest part of the action and just drop you off that cliff with a quick wrap up, but this features a long, carefully wrapped up resolution where you know exactly which steps are next for the characters instead of a vague ride off into the sunset.
A book that makes you smile and fall in love with the characters! In a world where things can be so heavy, this was a great read to give you hope where dreams do come true!
