The Love He Led Me To: An American in Vietnam: A Sweet, Forced Proximity Romance

Rate this book
Sometimes the greatest step forward is the one guided by love.

My father’s heritage was the quest. His best friend’s son, however, is the surprise.
Hung Ly is my translator, my guide, and unexpectedly, my favorite distraction.
He speaks impeccable English, has a smile that undermines my better judgment, and knows Saigon like the back of his hand.
He was a practical solution. He is becoming an emotional complication.
Between bustling markets and quiet conversations, I’m collecting more than stories about my father.
I’m collecting moments with Hung.
Laughter over bowls of phở, confidences shared on the back of his motorcycle, a spark that feels thrillingly real.
This journey was meant to connect me with my past.
I never planned on a connection that would redefine my future.

A charming, sun-soaked romance about culture, family, and the love that finds you when you’re looking the other way.

A quest to find her deceased father's best friend sends Jinny to Vietnam. Her father's friend is no longer in the city but his son, Hung, feels honor bound to assist Jinny in finding people who knew her father. The sights and sounds of Vietnam come to life as the venture through the city and across the country in their search. Hung locates Jinny's estranged Uncle and the secrets of her father's immigration to the US are revealed. As the search progresses, Jinny and Hung begin to develop feelings for each other. Will their romance survive when Jinny returns to America? Another exciting story from Sherry Aab. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher.

The Love He Led Me To is a beautiful story about Jinny who wants to see Vietnam where her late Father was born and visits Siagon with her friend Roxanne . Jinny follows the information her Father left and tries to contact her Father's friend but reaches his son Hung. They follow a trail of clues and their friendship begins to develop. But how will their story end?
Superb story that I enjoyed reading very much and I highly recommend that you read.

This is a lovely story of adventure and finding romance in Saigon with the son of her dad's friend, when Jinny travels to visit the places where her dad used to live and retrace his history.

Loved the journey both Jinny and Hung Ly go on to find her dad's friends and how their love blossoms.

The description of Saigon made me feel I was there.

Would highly recommend.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love to travel and this book took me to faraway lands from the comfort of my home. Getting to see and experience Vietnam for the first time with Jinny was exhilarating. Her journey was so heartfelt and healing. The transformation in Hung was lovely as he learned to live in the moment and focus on more than business. A genuine connection formed between two people and grew into something unexpected.

The book is a nice and eventful story. It's about Jinny Ngayen who's off to Vietnam to find out about her father Tuan's heritage. Jinny meets her father's best friends's son Huang Ly, he will be there to help her and to translate when needed. This book has a bit of everything, another life-style and culture. It is the life her father had lived and been away from when he was living in Colorado. Now Jinny is in Vietnam to discover more about her heritage and who her father really was. Jinny is discovering a very different life to the one she was used to. The time Jinny spent with Huang opened up new experiences and visions. I loved the setting, the characters and the adventure across the pages. I can definitely recommend this book.

Such a beautiful story!

This is such a different type of love story and is written very well. You’ll feel like you’ve visited Vietnam from all the amazing scenery descriptions, exploration of the cuisine and culture, and watching Hung and his ways of dealing with people.

I loved the characters and their interactions, and you will too!
