Self-Destruction

This was a quick MC read about a man who was set to self-destruct putting his club at risk. After a night of bad decisions the club sent him away to a cabin occupied by a woman named Riley. Riley was not like any other woman he knew. She wasn’t there to coddle him because she knew because of her own history that Talon had to realize, himself, that there was another way. This book was about self-discovery and finding your other half.

Talon and Riley’s story has some action, but the plot is centered around the emotional, and the focus is on Talon, not the MC. If this isn’t what you’re looking for, you won’t like it, but if you like the angst and inner turmoil, this is right up your alley. The story was basically Riley trying to get Talon to see that self-destruction and wangst are not noble (angst, however, is just fine). I liked it, but it wasn’t your typical MC story. I totally agreed with Riley that suffering for the sake of suffering doesn’t make you a better person, or make you worthy. I admit, I was a little disappointed because when I was looking over the information for this book it said “filthy” romance, but, sadly, this isn’t unless you count how filthy he gets various surfaces by bleeding all over them.

This was an okay read for me—nothing groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining enough to keep me hooked.

The chemistry between Riley and him is intense right from the start. They have that explosive “we absolutely should stay away from each other but won’t” kind of dynamic, and honestly, those are always fun to read.

Riley was probably my favorite part. She’s sharp, fearless, and doesn’t let him intimidate her for a second, which made their banter and tension work really well. And him? Total damaged biker chaos with the whole “push everyone away but secretly desperate to be loved” energy.

The emotional side had potential too, especially with both of them carrying scars from their pasts. You can tell there’s supposed to be this deep understanding between them underneath all the fighting and heat.

But overall, I wanted a little more. More emotional depth, more buildup, more moments that really made me feel attached to them as a couple instead of just liking the vibe.

Still, if you like broken biker men, messy attraction, and characters constantly fighting their feelings while clearly being obsessed with each other, this is a pretty solid read.

Ii found this to be a rather emotional, character driven story. Talon and Riley both had things in their past that shaped who they'd become, and how they approached the world. Riley successfully escaped her chains, though she still treads carefully often enough. Talon, though, is in a self-destructive cycle. Seeing himself as disposable, unworthy, has lead him down a rough road, and it's about to dead end... again. She's his last hope, the last stop on this route. I loved the conversations between them and the glimpses of the weeping wounds beneath the armor. She's offered a lifeline, but it's up to Talon to accept it and utilize the support.
There wasn't much MC drama in this one, rather more MC adjacent.

Talon has his demons, things he can't seem to outrun. Quick to temper, quick to fight, causing problems for the club. He is sent away from the club to stay with Riley, hoping the breathing space will get his head on right. What he didn't count on were his feelings for Riley.

Riley has dealt with her own demons; she is now in a place where she feels settled, present. She feels the pull towards Talon, but she knows he has to be the one to make the change; she can't force him to.

Talon has to decide whether to stay or run like he normally does. Can Riley be the one who quietens his mind, the one who sees him for who he is, and is willing to stand by him, while he sorts himself out?.

This book isn't just a romance about two people with troubled pasts. It is about someone who has healed and someone not quite ready to start their healing journey.
Riley isn't there to fix Talon. Riley is there to make sure the Talon doesn't quit once he starts to fix himself.
One line from this book stuck with me. 'That's not training... That's self harm disguised as discipline.' For such a short book it's messages are permanently cataloged in my brain. Oh, don't get me started on that cliffhanger.

Talon amd Riley

This was one explosive book. The action starts immediately and sucks you into a world of bikers. Where one biker is a walking self destructive time bomb. Talon is nothing but bad choices wrapped up in a kutte. When he is sent to Rileys to lay low and cool down, the twists that come makes the book. She meets him head on with his choices and pushes back enough for him to rethink everything. I absolutely loved these two.

This was a good short read. I completed it in less than two hours. Talon and Riley have a story riddled with turmoil. He doesn't think he is worth saving. She's been there, lived that, and came out the other side.

This fast paced story runs quickly through their relationship and gives a short glimpse at their future.

Fierce book. The chaos and danger were real in this. The angst and hurt felt so real. The emotions in this were felt in my heart. It pulled me apart but then out me back together again. The main characters went through so much. Felt so undeserving. But it was the furthest from the truth. This novella held so much depth. So many emotions in so few pages. I loved this one a lot.
