Hi. I’m Louise Miller, the youngest of four sisters, I’m a hopeless
romantic, and Bliss Garden’s resident trainwreck.
Is twenty-four too young to have a quarter life crisis? Asking for… well, for me.
I just moved into my new apartment, and I’ve already humiliated myself in front of the much older, sexy single dad—and scorching hot firefighter—who lives next door.
With the most incredible blue eyes and a mustache I’d like to test drive, Zach Macomb is exactly the kind of guy I’ve always fallen hard for.
Then he drops a bomb… he’s not quite as single as I thought, and starting anything between us could jeopardize everything he’s been fighting for.
Except when he kisses me, all bets are off.
With a gruff disposition and a hardened heart, Zach is no prince charming, but that doesn’t stop me from wishing for my very own fairy tale ending.
Even if it means showing this grumpy beast that happily ever after exists after all.
Danielle Baker was born and raised in the beautiful city of Petoskey, nestled on the crystalline shores of Lake Michigan. She is blissfully married to the love of her life, Nicholas. Danielle’s love of writing began while she was in high school. At the urging of her family, Danielle was given the boost she needed to ‘Get back in the saddle’ and keep reaching for her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. When Danielle isn’t working, writing, or spending time with her family, she can be found with a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other.
The way I devoured this one!!! I’ve been waiting for Zach’s story ever since that tease at the end of Honor, & it absolutely delivered. I’m already fully invested in this series. The world Danielle Baker is building here? I need every single side character’s story immediately.
Zach & Louise had me from their meet-cute. I was literally laughing out loud. It’s easily one of my favorites. From there, the chemistry is instant fire. Zach is this gruff, protective, single dad firefighter on the outside, but that mouth in the bedroom? Yeah. Say less. The contrast between who he is publicly & privately was so well done, & the kink exploration was fantastic.
But what really got me were the quieter moments. Watching Lou with Zach’s girls, seeing those relationships develop, the way she just fits into their world without forcing it. That’s what gave this story its heart. Under all the heat, this is really a story about learning to trust again. About taking that terrifying leap of faith that someone might actually stay.
Zach & Lou both come in with baggage, & you feel that push & pull the entire time. The tension, the restraint, the inevitability of them all just work.
Also, I need to say it. I am officially a Macomb family girl. The banter, the glimpses of what’s coming next. I’m already attached to this series & so excited to see what's to come.
💕 Neighbors to Lovers 🏡 Small Town 🧯 Firefighter MMC ❣️ Single Dad 💋 Age Gap (16 yrs) ☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine 💔 He's in the process of a messy divorce ✌🏻 Dual POV
After reading Once Upon A Kiss and Honor, I officially want a Macomb brother of my own! I hear Joel is available… can I call dibs? 😉
Zach is a 40-year-old single dad, separated and raising his three daughters while waiting for his divorce to be finalized. His entire world revolves around his girls after being abandoned by his wife (and their mom) and his focus is fully on them.
Then Louise, 24, moves in next door and completely turns his world upside down. The attraction between them is instant and mutual, but Zach knows he shouldn’t risk the distraction before his divorce is final.
Still, as the weeks pass, staying away from each other becomes nearly impossible. Both have been hurt in past relationships, making them hesitant to fully trust each other, and themselves, with their feelings.
This book is spicy, emotional, and everything I hoped for! I’m a sucker for the single-dad and age-gap tropes, so I was already sold – but the fact that Zach is a Macomb? I knew I was going to love it (Xander in Honor still has my heart 😍).
What I wasn’t prepared for was the ending - it had me in tears. Both the heartbreaking kind and the happy kind.
Danielle really knows how to write an incredible mmc, and I’m officially obsessed with the Macomb family. Can we please have Joel’s story next? I mean a hot firefighter with slutty glasses who loves babies, come on!? 🤞🏻
Thank you Danielle for letting me read this book early!
this book had me hooked from the very start it was a struggle for me to put it down or to focus on anything else because it captivated me so much. This book pulled me in and did not want to let me go. I loved everything about Lou and Zach from the way they met, them trying to be just friends, falling in love, the heartbreak and finding their way back to each other it was everything. I laughed so hard with this book Lou was just hilarious and then you add in the mix of her friends and her family and it was off the charts. Another thing I truly loved about Lou is the dressing up as Disney princesses not only does she do it to make kids happy but she does it because she loves it and that’s so unique to me because almost every girl when they are little wants to be a Disney princess. Zach man oh man he’s just trying to survive and that’s tough with three girls but he’s doing his very best and he’s killing it which is something you can’t help but fall for and did I mention he’s a firefighter that just makes him even better. He’s a girl dad, family man an all around good person going through a rough patch and while he messed up a tiny bit he still went after who he loves. Honestly there is so much I could say about Lou and about Zach because I just loved them so much, I’m gonna cut it off here though and just say read the book because it’s absolutely amazing and you don’t want to miss out on it.
ARC Review 📖 Once Upon A Kiss Written by Danielle Baker
Not me over here laughing about how these two met ! Too perfect and too funny. But also our grumpy firefighter literally cannot stop staring at her after their first run in.
The way they both can help but think about each other or look at each other. They're both pining but Zach is trying to be a gentleman and not want her but you can't help who you want. Zach has not wanted anything like the way he wants Louise, but he can't have her; it would complicate both of their lives.
So let the dance begin because I know these two are going to dance around each other and temp each other. Good thing Zach is a firefighter because the fire is horrible between them and it's up to him to give into it finally!
I love the families ! the banter between the Macomb brothers. The close relationship between Louise and her sisters. Zach's kids and Louise Grandmother. It all fills my heart with joy!
🔥 age gap (+16 years) 👸🏻girl dad (x3) 🔥firefighter mmc 👸🏻he calls her "Princess" 🔥neighbors to lovers 👸🏻he's fighting the attraction with his whole being 🔥curvy girl fmc 👸🏻he's married... but waiting on the divorce papers 🔥Small-town Romance 👸🏻Grumpy x Sunshine 🔥Single Dad
You know that swoony, giddy feeling you get when a book just hits and makes your heart ridiculously happy? Yeah… this one did exactly that for me. 💕
I’ve been waiting for Zach’s story ever since I read Xander’s last year (and I loved that one so much I literally own it in all three formats, so that should tell you everything 😅). And honestly? It was so worth the wait.
From Zach and Louise’s super touchy-feely, adorable meet-cute to the moment they finally admit how they feel, I was completely hooked. I barely paused! I just needed to know what happened next. Louise is such a sweetheart and watching her bond with the three girls was one of my favorite parts. Those kids completely stole the show at times, especially Chloe, our unapologetic, no-filter queen.👑
What really worked for me was the push and pull between Zach and Lou. It never felt dragged out or frustrating, just the perfect amount of tension. And when they both finally stop fighting it and just give in to their feelings? Ugh, so satisfying and fun to read.
Zach and Lou are officially up there with Xander and Teddy for me, which says a lot. And now I’m just here, patiently (okay, not really patiently) waiting for Joel’s story, hoping he is up there too! 🙌🏼
4.5⭐️ Age-gap he’s 40, she 24! Single dad Fire fighter 🔥
Firstly do not let the cutesy cover fool you… the spice 🫠🫠
Louise Miller, moved home to help out with the family business! She is currently on a men ban as the dating scene sucks! There is only so many times a girl can be ghosted and blocked before you start to take it personal 😢 Louise is the youngest of 4 sisters and side note her gran Jude is an absolute legend! Lou finally moves into her own place, and let’s just say her first encounter with her hot neighbour is not quite as smooth sailing as she had planned 😂😂
Incoming..
Zach Macomb single father (a firefighter too 🥵) of 3 girls after their mum up and left them all 2 years ago! Zach now puts his girls before anything and everyone to protect them from ever being let down again! So when Lou literally bundles into their life and fits in seamlessly, and Zach is enjoying himself a lot 🥵🥵
There is one slight problem, Zach is still married and with the divorce hearing looming he is trying to make sure not to give is estranged ex any reasons to hinder the process! But can he stay away from his Princess… yea I think not 🔥🔥🔥
I could not put this down, I really enjoyed the banter between all the siblings too and let’s say once your “Locked In” you’re “Locked In” 🤍🌸
P.s if you have read Honor, Xander makes a couple appearances and yes he definitely says MAMA 🥵🥵😂
Firefighter, single dad, grumpy, and 40 years old? SAY LESS.
After reading Honor and meeting Xander, I could not apply to read this book early fast enough, and it did NOT disappoint!
Right off the bat, I fell in love with Zach. He’s doing all he can for his 3 girls while he navigates an absent ex and a messy divorce, all while working as assistant fire chief. Give this man a medal, because he is absolutely crushing it…and maybe remind him every now and then, too. 🤭
His new neighbor Lou(ise) quite literally falls into his lap and life. She’s a cosplaying princess with big dreams, a family business to help, and is currently on a man-hiatus. Or so she thought. When she meets Zach, it’s insta-lust, and WOWWW do the sparks fly quick! Spice starts at 26% and it. Is. Everything. 🥵 Zach has a dirty dirty mouth and a laundry list of what he wants to do with Lou…I didn’t want it to end!
Abigail, Bailey, Chloe, and Grandma Jude had me in stitches SO much throughout this book, they are such amazing side characters! I also hope Joel gets his own book too, that man is going to make someone very very happy!
I finished this book in a little over 3 hrs. I had literally just closed Xander's book when the arc arrived in my email, I couldn't wait to read about Zach, the second Macomb brother.
I'm honestly dealing with a slight book hangover, I most importantly yes loved the characters but I loved Louise's family. Talk about female empowerment, her grandma, mom and sisters were the ultimate girls club. I always love a book or series with an older character who is just feral, no nonsense and sometimes likes to meddle to ensure their people find love.
I loved Zach as a father and how he cared for those girls with his whole heart... flower orders 😭 his tattoos. He was grumpy, yes, but also perceptive, thoughtful, and a little dorky in the best way. Danielle did an amazing job, I'd read this book over and over. The little easter eggs throughout have me so excited to see whose story is next. I was locked in 😉 (from beginning to end).
Overall thoughts💭 Sometimes nothing beats a small town romance, an unlikely couple and a few slightly unhinged, loveable and funny side characters
eARC Review -Neighbors to Lovers -Single Dad -Age gap ( 16ish years-he’s older) -Grumpy x Sunshine -Small Town -He’s still married but divorcing his ex -Top tier flirty banter
Ahhh! It feels good to meet a Macomb brother! I loved Xander in Honor (Sky Ridge Hotshots Book 3) and immediately signed up for this book when it became available to read early. I love Danielle’s writing and her MMCs.
Lou’s hesitant about not making it past the ‘talking stage’ again with a man given her past. But Zach assures her in more ways than one that he’s not going anywhere and ‘locked in.’ The hilarious ‘meet cute’ and meddling families had me laughing and hooked from the beginning.
The Xander & Teddy cameos were hilarious and swooning! ‘Mama’ (if you know, you know). I was not expecting the soon-to-be ex wife to be THAT crazy. Real piece of work. But what Lou did for him and his girls? HOW THOUGHTFUL! I’m SO looking forward to reading what Danielle has in-store for us next!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thank you Danielle for allowing me to read Zach & Louise’s story early as an ARC!
This was an immediate, run to the sign up, book for me, I have been ready since we got that first little teaser of Zach & Lou in Honor
Now there's just something about these Macomb brothers that have me in a chokehold, first Xander and now Zach and I am begging for Joel to have a book as well 🙏🏻🙏🏻 gorgeous, grumpy fire-fighters with a dirty mouth say less!
Louise the youngest of 4 girls, a True Believer in fairy tales and falling hard and fast, was having a real rough go of the dating world until she meets the moody dad from next door and let me tell you their meet cute was perfection. I found her to be so mature for her age whilst also having fun pushing every single one of Zachs buttons.
The chemistry was insane, the spice was delicious and I devoured this book in a day. There was so many beautiful moments to count!
I do wish there was more grovelling as my heart broke in two reading towards the end but the ending and epilogue were beautiful!
❤️🔥Neighbours to Lovers ❤️🔥FireFighter MMC ❤️🔥Age Gap (16years) ❤️🔥Girl Dad x3 ❤️🔥Grumpy / Sunshine ❤️🔥Small Town
4.5⭐️ 4🌶
Bonus points go to all the side characters, i was giddy and wanting books for everyone. I love this world and I am counting down to see which Sister catches the love bug next!
Thankyou so much to Danielle for the opportunity to read this one early!🫶🏻

I love a great meet-cute and this one definitely got my attention and had me locked in from the start. I have been dying to get up close and personal with another Macomb brother and Zach is just as hot my friends! He's a girl dad x 3, going through a messy divorce and along comes his smoking hot, sassy new neighbour, Lou. The rest as they say is history - with a little emotional damage along the way. Our boy Xander makes a few appearances and we get to know Joel our third Macomb brother and I'm just as obsessed with him. This book is super spicy, emotional and full of great banter and flirtation; we also get to fall in love with three adorable young ladies as well.
P.S. Grandma Jude is the best! Love her.
I also loved how Danielle captured the rage and internal dialogue that comes with being single so well; was totally relatable.
- small town - single dad - firefighter MMC - mustache rides - grumpy x sunshine - dual POV - neighbours to lovers - age gap (24/40) - "eyes on me"
These two were flirting and bantering their whole way through. It was so fun to get to know these two. To see them fight their feelings and then fight for each other.
Louise is from a larger family. 3 older sisters, mom and a feral grandmother (in her words) keep her on her toes. The family dynamic here is fun and had me smiling and laughing the whole way through.
Zach has his work cut out for him. Almost single dad (the ex is just dragging it out to be a pain) who is trying to do right by his little girls. With an ex that has left everyone behind but still randomly shows up to cause issues and keep dragging everything out.
These two realize how much they mean to each other and hold on..or at least try to. There are some bumps in the road that make them work for it. That make things harder but in the end bring them closer together.
I so loved being back here in Petosky and getting to see some familiar faces. I’m hoping we get to follow the last Macomb as well as all of Millers.
I have been waiting for this book since it was announced at the end of Honor that the other two Macomb’s brothers were getting books and let me tell ya…IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!
Zach Macomb the grumpy girl dad firefighter is definitely a girls dream…This man has been put through the wringer by his ex but he shows up and does what is best for his daughters
Louise Miller the baby of her family who falls for the single dad and his three daughters…Lou is just such a fun character and is definitely up there in on list of favorite FMC’s
Zach and Lou together were so perfect and hot!! She knew how to push his buttons and loved her punishments and he loved when she riled him up and he got to take care of her needs
I loved all the characters in this book and getting a glimpse into them…I was so excited to see Xander and Teddy make an appearance!!
This book will have you locked in from the very beginning.
Instalove stories have been so gratifying to read as of late and this is no exception. There is something so satisfying about reading two characters who don’t beat around the bush and just let their attraction be known from the start. Zach and Louise can’t hide their feelings for each other even though it could make Zach’s divorce and custody proceedings sticky. Their chemistry sizzles and it belays an emotional core.
Driving the character development is two people who have to work through abandonment issues. They recognize that with their histories they need to be communicative and offer each other assurances that they won’t leave. I appreciated their self-awareness.
This was a strong start to a new series; I’m already anticipating the journeys to come.
I received an ARC directly from the author. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
ARC review After reading Honor and LOVING it I really couldn’t wait to get Zach’s book.
Starting off I really liked the characters the tropes. Single dad of three and a girl dad at that? Sign me up. Once Upon A Kiss follows Zach who is going through a divorce from his crazy ex and raising three girls. Then we have Louise who is the sunshine to his grumpy and is also his much younger neighbor, So we have that forced proximity trope too. I enjoyed all the side characters and hoping that some of them might also get a book.
That being said, I was hoping for something with a little more story to it? While there was a story, this felt very much half smut half story. Without giving away any spoiler, there was a certain spicy scene that seemed a little off considering they only knew each other a very shorty time.
I’d still recommend this book, especially if someone is looking for a spicy single dad book and I’m eager to see what’s next from Danielle Baker
Zach Macomb, firefighter, single dad, "almost" divorced, and smitten on his new, much younger neighbor, that he calls "Princess"?! Check!
Louise Miller, lover of Disney, helping out her family, and hoping that not all men are the same as the ones she's had the misfortune of dating.
The two of them have an instant connection, and as much as they try to fight it, they can't. They are explosive, and their dynamic makes it so freaking hot! Lou challenges Zach at every turn, and he definitely takes his role as brat tamer very seriously.
Zach is still technically married, so we have some drama, but what is a hea if it doesn't hit some bumps along the way?
We get all of the small town vibes, including a meddling Grandma! I picked up on a few possible matchups for couples to come, and I am so excited to see where this series goes!
Would it be a spoiler if I mention how I thought there would be no 3rd act breakup? I honestly thought it was going to be a sweet book of two people learning to trust in love and their ability to be chosen over all else. Slap in the face those last few chapters were (in the best emotional way possible, of course). Also, are we surprised Louise was imminently bravery at 23 than Zach at nearly 40? No, typically male behavior. I do love that he put on his grandma panties (IYKYK) and owned up to it though. After all their little found family was worth the fight. A true fairytale ending for a prince and princess who braved insecurities looked fear in the face and said not today, not ever again.
P.S. This spice in this story had me feeling all kinds of things (every single one of them naughty).
✨ARC Review✨ The way I’ve been dying for this book and Zach and Louise did not disappoint 🤭 I swear funny kids and feral grandmas will always make a book ten times better 😂 this one had both. Grandma Jude was so funny and you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. Zach’s kids were so funny as well with their brutal kid honesty 😂 I loved the relationship Louise had with the girls 🥹 it was so special! This was a easy quick read that had me laughing at everyone’s shenanigans, but then sweating at the mouth on Zach 😮💨 I didn’t know he had it in him to be honest and then Louise being a brat loved it 🤭 And of course Danielle couldn’t write this book without a visit from Xander and not give us a “mama” from him 🫠 I cannot wait to see what happens with the other sisters books 👀 And who Joel will end up with 👀
This is an ARC review. I read this book quickly. It pulled me from the first page.
I love Louise. She knows who she is and is not afraid to show it. She knows what she wants. Her family is a tight bunch who support each other. Grandma Jude is a wild card. I want a best friend like her.
Zach is one hot dad and firefighter. He is strong, caring, and takes care of his girls. He makes sure that they are loved and they know it. His daughters have strong personalities that are all different. They are also brutally honest. Nothing gets by them.
The meeting between Louise and Zach was hilarious. I laughed out loud. These two have amazing chemistry and their banter made me laugh. They learn to trust each other and really get to know one another.
I like the small town and that everyone knows everyone and their business. It was a great book.
I've been praying we were getting Zach's story ever since that tease at the end of Honor, & well let me tell you , You are all in for a treat with this one!!
The mouth on Zach 🫠🥵
Zach & Louise’s meet-cute, had me giggling and kicks off the book in the best way! Their chemistry is fire, the spice was delicious and I devoured this book in a day. There are too many beautiful moments to count!

“You’re a dream, Louise. A dream I don’t deserve to wish to keep when I wake up. But f*ck me if I don’t want to.”
Another absolute masterpiece by Danielle Baker 🩷 I cannot and will not shut up about this! There were so many aspects of this book that reminded me of myself and it just made me love the MFC Louise so much more. She’s curvy, has a big heart, her dream job is what I’ve dreamed of doing for so long, she adores kids, has an amazing family (I envy how many sisters she has), has killer taste in music and loves a hot firefighter!
Let introduce you to Zach, the deliciously good looking neighbor who has a hot profession of being a firefighter ❤️but also, a phenomenal dad who has a very guarded heart. His love for his family literally makes you a puddle.
Put the two together you have a relationship that’s swoon worthy, SPICYYYYYY, and shows true love.
Do NOT even think about this book - it’s a MUST READ 🩷
If I could give a book infinity stars, this would be it!
I loved Danielle's book Honor, and learning Xander's brother Zach was getting a book? Yes, please! I can't even begin to describe how much I loved his story. He loves his girls fiercely, loves his job and his family and everyone loves a hot, tatted firefighter who's also a family man teddy bear at heart. And Louise? I love her sass, her personality and confidence despite her bad dating luck is something we all strive for. The banter between them is fantastic and so is the spice! I also loved the banter between in Louise's family, but also loooooved his brother Joel. I loved this and feel like she set up the future of this series perfectly with this book!
Ohhhhh I was so excited to see my favorite hot shot’s brother was getting a book!!! Once Upon a Kiss is Zach Macomb’s book!! Zach is Xander’s brother (from Honor) and he is also a firefighter. He’s a single dad to 3 girls and his new neighbor is cutie princess cosplayer Louise. Louise spends most of her time working at her family’s business with her sisters, but she does events as Rapunzel too! When Louise has an unfortunate meeting with her hot new neighbor, the sparks are flying. These two are super into each other from the jump. It’s pretty adorable!! Zach is a grumpy older man, but goddamn he’s HOT and DIRTY 😮💨 I would’ve fallen for him right away like Lou 😂 His kids are so adorable too. I loved this book so much. Really funny and sweet with lots of great spice!!!
I truly enjoyed this book. Getting to meet Xander’s brother(from Honor) and read his story was wonderful. I loved the characters and the instant chemistry between them. He’s a wounded soul; she’s used to being left. Single dad, age gap, neighbors, firefighter. I can say this: the spice was spicing🌶️ 😮💨🔥 Thank you Danielle for giving me the opportunity to read it before its release on April 7! Grab it-but first - read Honor because the Macomb brothers are fine!!! 💕
I loved Zach and Lou’s story! They were such a good couple with their own demons that they overcame. It was a hard fought HEA but worth it! Also can I say that Danielle writes some of the best spice I’ve ever read?!? Zach was HOT AS FUCK and I was here for it! So damn good! I can’t wait for the next book!

100% banger. Danielle knows how to write a Macomb man and hot damn I am here for it. In depth review to come closer to release date but would recommend to everyone!

I received an ARC for this book and was beyond excited to get to read. I loved Xander in Honor and couldn’t wait to read about his brother Zach. Love how Danielle tells Lou and Zach’s story. The details, the emotions and getting to hear how both character feels is chef’s kisses. Enjoy!!!
