I found Stepping Down to be a nice young adult book about navigating faith, beliefs, and relationships on the campus of Southern Atlanta South University. This story was reflective of past TikTok and YouTube videos of members of the Divine 9 that were denouncing sororities that they had pledged. It was when Megan became president of her sorority--Theta Kappa Rho, and she had her first line that she began experiencing conflicts between her Christian faith, and her actions and oath she pledged to her sorority.
I did not enjoy the story at all. I did not feel as if I was drawn into the story. As I was able to develop a relationship with the characters. The music in the background was a distraction for me, and at times made it hard to hear clearly what was being said.
