What an excellent surprise! I was in the mood for something knotty and despite the formulaic title, I figured I’d give it a try.
CW note: in this Omegaverse, alpha/omega bonding can happen spontaneously with no free will possible for either person. Lila is horrified when Grayson takes overpowering control after the bond forms, but I think Alphas could just as easily feel betrayed by their own bodies.
Excellent surprise #1: our omega, Lila, is Black, Queen-shaped, sharp, and a total kick ass. Even better, the author Amelia Bonds* is Black too. 🥰
Excellent surprise #2: Bonds knows the business world well, some that shows in small ways that I really appreciated. For example, how managers can have this “performative” smile when they’re not really listening to you. So many “bosshole” authors never get beyond the stereotypes.
Excellent surprise #3: layers of meaning. Lila must hide her biological designation as an omega in order to be hired, despite strong creds and education, a clear parallel to the struggles that women, Black people, and other nonwhite folks have in the workplace.
Excellent surprise #4: what a great ending!
Despite the formulaic title and cover, the story is a refreshing, rewarding take on Omegaverse love stories. Highly recommended.
*Amara Bonds may also write as Imani Jay, if Amazon’s search system is correct.
This one started off so strong. It was funny, their banter was good, and the story felt perfectly paced. But towards the end it got a little shaky. The time line was weird. One moment it had been six weeks later, another it had only been three since they bonded and that threw me off. I don’t wanna spoil anything but I gotta mention it sooo spoiler alert…..
* * *
The bun in the oven further confused me. In the six weeks later timeline, she said she hadn’t told him Grayson about it. But then has a flashback to two weeks prior and he said he knew two weeks prior to that that she was with bun because her scent changed. Then in the epilogue his brothers mention he lost his mind three weeks ago and there’s no mention of her bump or anything soooo it’s like the author forgot about the pregnancy thing cause it wasn’t mentioned and in three weeks there wouldn’t be a bump anyway so it makes sense BUT why was it mentioned and why was six weeks bought up before?
Anyway aside from that hiccup the story was quick, steamy of course and pretty decent.
He built rules against omegas. She broke them all.
Lila builds her career on precision and silence, carving out space in a company that would never have hired her if they knew the truth. Smart and controlled, she keeps her head down and her suppressants close. When her shipment is late and her alpha boss orders her in on her day off, control slips and the scent of her heat threatens everything she’s worked for.
Grayson has spent years keeping omegas out of his company and out of his life, convinced love makes men weak and bonds make empires fall. The moment he scents Lila, instinct collides with discipline and something feral takes over. Anger turns into claiming, heat turns into a bond that won’t loosen, and the line between protection and possession starts to blur.
What begins as a heat driven collision becomes a reckoning. Lila refuses to disappear inside his dominance, and Grayson has to decide whether control means caging her or standing beside her. As power shifts, claiming becomes mutual and desire becomes a choice instead of a reflex.
Lila survives by shrinking herself, but she’s forced to confront her hunger, claim space professionally and sexually, and redefine the bond on her terms. Grayson begins as an emotionally armored alpha who equates love with weakness, yet he’s pushed to face the fear behind that belief and rebuild himself around partnership instead of dominance. Their dynamic shifts from instinctive possession into something negotiated and deliberately chosen.
A dark, ultra-steamy omegaverse workplace romance where a secret bond shatters control and forces two driven people to confront who they are beyond biology and fear. It’s about autonomy, power, trauma, and the risk of loving in a world built to limit you, and a claiming that survives because they choose each other on purpose.
The Elevator Pitch: A high-powered CEO who refuses to hire omegas discovers his most indispensable employee has been hiding in plain sight, and one unexpected heat cycle ignites a bond neither of them can undo. As instinct collides with ambition, control turns feral and a forbidden workplace dynamic spirals into possession, vulnerability, and raw negotiation of power. What begins as biology threatening to dismantle everything becomes a dangerous chance to rebuild love on their own terms.
Ok so look Amara Bonds is a new to me author and I believe this is her debut book the fact that this was as good as it is has me over the freaking moon. Not only did this give most of the things I love about Omegaverse stories it explored the feelings around fate and biology. Because as awesome as the fated mates trope is often time authors rely on it to heavily to create the romance. Which leaves readers like me feeling like the story lacked depth AND like fated love isn’t real. Anyways this was an excellent addition to this series even though it had almost nothing to do with Valentines lol can’t wait to read the next brother’s story !
This is a new to me author and I am already converted. I loved the story and the unfolding of this family’s story. I enjoyed everything about the plot and can’t wait to delve into the author’s other works.
Lila is an omega . Who is on suppressants and wears body compression to be able to work as the assistant to a ruthless grumpy CEO who does not want to hire any omegas . all it took was her to run out of her medication and him to demand she gone into the office on her day off for them to realize that Grayson is her alpha and they are fated mates
Main Characters > Lila Deneal - Omega/Grayson’s Assistant (Scent - Lavender & Ginger) > Grayson Vaughan - Alpha/Boss at Vaughan Industries (Scent - Cedar & Citrus)
Side Characters > Jaleesa Henderson - Omega/Omega Rights Attorney > Hunter Vaughan - Alpha/Attorney/Grayson’s Brother > Roan Vaughan - Alpha/Works at Vaughan Industries/Grayson’s Youngest Brother
Grayson made a pact with his brothers after their mother died. When they saw how grief stricken their father was, they decided that they would no longer hire any Omegas into the company. They saw how the loss of his mate completely changed him into a shell of a man and chose to take matters into their own hands so that they wouldn’t have to got through it themselves. They’d rather stay single their whole lives than risk becoming the person that their father became.
Lila is an Omega who comes into Vaughan Industries for a job interview. When she’s in the elevator, she overhears Grayson telling his employee that he refuses to hire Omega’s, no matter how good their qualifications are. Knowing that she needs this job, she decides to change her designation to a Beta before she heads into her interview. 2 years go by without a hitch as Grayson’s assistant. She’s managed to cover up her true designation with the use of heat suppressants and body compressions. But the day she’s been dreading has finally come, she’s ran out of suppressants and she can’t get anymore until Monday.. the day she’s suppose to go back to work. To make matters worse, Grayson calls her, demanding that she comes to the office to help with some paperwork. She tries to cover up her scent with a bunch of clothing and perfume, hoping that it would help hide her up coming heat but… as you can guess, the moment she walks into the office, all hell breaks loose and she has no other choice but to let Grayson help her with her heat.
This one was okay 🙂 Wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible 🤨 I enjoyed the beginning of the story but as it went on, it started to get a bit confusing. We started getting random time jumps without being told that there’d been a time jump and the characters would magically teleport to a different location. For example, one moment they’re in Lila’s office dealing with her heat and the next they’re in Grayson penthouse 🤔 It threw off the flow of the story and I kept on going back pages to see if I’d missed anything but… nope, it's just how the story was written 🤷♀️
If you want to continue on with the "Knotted by the Alphahole" universe, then you can read "Knotted by her Alphahole Enemy" next, which is Jaleesa and Hunter's book.
This story ends with a HEA for this couple 🙂 Up next is “Knotted by the Dragon Prince”, featuring Amara, a unmated Omega and Kael, an Alpha Dragon Prince who’s also… a baker 🧁🐉

In the Omegaverse, biology isn’t just a footnote, it’s destiny. And when your designation can dictate your entire future, is it any surprise that so many Omegas do everything in their power to hide it? Lila Jensen has built her life on discipline and determination. She’s razor-sharp, endlessly capable, and the flawless executive assistant to the infamously demanding Grayson Vaughn. For two years, she’s worked at his side without faltering. There’s just one complication: she’s an Omega—and the Vaughns don’t hire Omegas. Armed with suppressants and sheer force of will, Lila buries that truth and outperforms everyone around her, determined to keep her secret intact. Grayson, meanwhile, fully earns his “alphahole” reputation. He demands perfection, tolerates no excuses, and expects his employees to operate at peak performance, even when they’re sick. So, when Lila’s suppressant supply falters at the worst possible moment, she knows calling in sick is not going to save her. Especially not when she’s on the brink of going into heat. The instant Grayson catches her scent, everything changes. Lila knows she’s been exposed. But it’s not just that Grayson now knows she’s an Omega, but that she is HIS Omega. The magnetic pull between them is immediate and overwhelming, the very scenario Grayson has spent his career avoiding. An Omega in his company is a liability. An Omega who feels destined for him? A disaster. And yet, resistance is futile in a world where Alpha and Omega bonds are impossible to resist. Their connection doesn’t begin with soft romance or tender yearning. It’s raw, instinctive, and driven more by nature than choice. At times, the intensity toes the line, and the only reason it avoids feeling like dub-con is the unyielding framework of the Omegaverse. Still, somewhere along the way, the sharp edges soften. You find yourself melting at every possessive growl, every flash of protectiveness. And Grayson’s outrage at the compression bands Lila wears to hide her curves? Let’s just say it reframes the entire dynamic. Beneath the heat and heightened biology, the story weaves in a thoughtful thread about workplace discrimination and systemic bias. But what ultimately elevates the romance is that Lila doesn’t lose herself in the bond. She retains her ambition, her intelligence, and—within the boundaries of this world—her agency. Even better, she’s given the opportunity to challenge the status quo and carve out space for other Omegas in the corporate sphere. Feral, intense, and unexpectedly tender, this story delivers all the primal tension you’d expect from the Omegaverse, while still allowing its heroine to claim power in a world designed to deny it. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In a world where discrimination is legal, omegas will not only take suppressants, they will wear compression undergarments to suppress the shape of their bodies as well in order to be hired for and keep a decent job.
And when their suppressants are on back order and their boss demands they come in or he'll come to their homes? This is the stuff that risks are made of.
This didn't jump out at me as being a darker romance, so I was caught off guard by some of the content (not the spicy stuff, I knew spice was incoming) about which there will be more info in the Content Warning paragraph below.
Lila is a strong character, and although the book's focus is during a very vulnerable time for her, there are still multiple references to her strengths and skills. Grayson 100% fits the alphahole moniker, and although he initially comes across rather 2 dimensional, after the disaster referenced in the TW section there was some positive character development, tied in part to finally dealing what I will summarize as "family stuff."
Trigger Warning: DubCon referenced in the review, nested (to the best of my ability) in spoiler space which begins here
The epilogue sets up the MCs for the next book, and lays the groundwork for what will probably be at least 4 alphahole books, possibly 5.
There were some pretty substantial continuity hiccups, but they were manageable if I simply decided that one set of X or the other was true.

Tropes: Workplace, Omegaverse, Secret Identity, Dark Romance, Alpha Male Knotted by her Alphahole Boss: An Omegaverse Romance by Amara Bonds is a part of a (so far) seven book series based on the omegaverse. The books are related by theme, but can all be read as standalone entries. This book appears to be the first one by this talented author, but she has one waiting in the wings to be released by mid-March. Lila is driven, talented and competent; her only failing, at least in the eyes of the world, is that fact that she is an omega. So unfortunately, in order to be taken seriously in the business world, she must mask her nature. Hard-driving Grayson is a businessman who runs a tight ship. He and his brothers have carved out a niche in their industry and have a reputation for excellence. They have one firm rule; they NEVER hire omegas. They are too disruptive to the atmosphere, and he saw how his mother weakened his father. That will never be his fate. For two years, Lila has run Grayson’s office with efficiency and poise. How will Grayson respond when he realizes that Lila has been hiding in plain sight? What’s more she is not just an Omega she is HIS Omega? Conclusion: Ms. Bonds gave her readers an excellently crafted book with two strong main characters who had tremendous chemistry and enough passion for two stories! The story also had some series undertones, touching on hiring decisions based on differences and assumptions while also finding a responsive solution to this trend within Grayson’s business. Final words, I totally enjoyed this fast paced, soulful story and I look forward to the next one by Ms. Bonds. It looks like Hunter and Jaleesa will be featured in the next story! Favorite Lines: The bond is permanent. The pleasure is undeniable. I just became exactly what I swore I'd never be. She didn't choose me. Biology chose for both of us. That's not a love story. That's an ambush. I can't wait until she's fully moved in. If she drags her feet, I'm fully prepared to burn the building to the ground. Not a metaphor. "Grayson." Her calm voice, the one she uses when I'm being unreasonable. "You need to go back to your office. Now." "That was impressive. When do you teach your class on being an alpha? I want to sign up." Some of the fury in my chest loosens. He moved. He didn't let her touch him. My alpha drew the line before I had to.
I liked this a lot more than most omegaverse. I am giving it a lukewarm 4 hit prob 3.5 stars but because of the length I’m being more generous and forgiving.
So the positive
This tried to address the inherent power dynamics within an omega/alpha pairing in omegaverse and I think it did a decent job of it. I’d like - hope- to believe that the short comings were due to how condensed it was given the length but at the same time it did a really good job for what length it did have. Better than so many others that are triple the size.
- I liked both MCs - FMC more and MMC was ok and maybe with more pages I’d believe him more. And also the relationship.
What annoyed me and spoilers below
- yes there’s body betrayal which I expected and this one did a better job as most do but still I needed more of it to be fleshed out - her resisting and establishing her boundaries and needs. It was too quick. But fine the length.
- why does every (almost) omegaverse have the FMC getting pregnant ? And like no talk of preventative measures or even abortion - god. Forbid. - FMC is career driven. So. I just am annoyed at the minimum that it happened in a less than 100 page book. Come. On.
- she’s a virgin. Of course. Fine for the story and FMC taking suppressants. Fine. I can understand. But god damn can we try to neutralise this kink. Bc ffs it’s just too stereotypical in general in m/f.
- I wish FMC was like I wanna take suppressants so I don’t go into heat/body betrayal every whatever it is. Would be a nice twist and out of the norm.
Overall I would absolutely read more books by this author bc this was way better and actually had a negotiation with the power dynamics and agency fighting and that was great. So I am hoping with more pages the author will avoid some of these classic tropes.
This story is a quick read but not lacking in completeness, detail, or major heat. This is my first time reading a book by this author but I’m already invested in seeing what the next release will bring. However, in this book you have Lila who is an Omega. She is discriminated against b/c of her biology. She pursues a job working as Grayson’s Executive Assistant by suppressing her Omega biology. One day her pills can’t be delivered on time and she knows that the gig is up. She knows the likelihood of being able to hide this from her boss for the next 72 hours is most likely not going to happen. With one whiff and her Alpha boss Grayson smells her… it’s over. Their new reality will cover a whole new enjoyable life for them to explore.
The story is complete with drama and real life discrimination. The effects of the discrimination deepens the crux of this story. Also, Lila and Grayson have mad chemistry and you find out one of the two had their sights set on the other since the beginning. I love when a story works out like that!
Also, this author also set the stage for the next story in the series which will include Grayson’s brother and Lila’s bff. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick romance read that is complete and will leave you wanting more in a good way!
The issue of Omega rights is front and center in this book. It’s allegorical, of course, as Omegaverse is usually coded gender politics or LGBTQ+ rights. This book adds a different dimension with the racial context; the Omega, Lila, is a Person of Color. The gender issue is brought forward by the Alpha-Omega bond. Omegas tend to lose their identity as an individual when they are claimed and bonded by an Alpha. The racial undertones are disturbing because the solution is segregation. Yep, Omegas are given an Omega-run division of the company, to be “separate but equal” in relation to the rest of the company, populated by the powerful Alphas (and the main Alpha Male character, Grayson, is white) and dismissable Betas. I did not like this because it smacked of racial discrimination and sexism. The book attempted to address the Alpha/Omega relationship and its implications, but it ultimately failed in bringing about parity or a satisfactory solution. Lila, the FMC Omega voiced concern about this segregation until she was offered the position running it, btw. Cat’s Stats Heat- explicit. Virgin heroine. Includes biological heat, knotting. Bechdel test- passed. Safety? Y Triggers- racial segregation Tropes- Heat, Nesting, Knotting, Workplace Romance.

Lila is an omega who works for her high maintenance alpha boss Grayson. She is overqualified for her job but gets this opportunity because she uses suppressants. The world of an omega is one filled with less opportunities due to their biology. One day Lila orders her suppressants a wee bit later than she usually does. Unfortunately she isn’t going to be able to go into work without her boss and/or other men knowing her secret. Grayson questions when she calls in, because she never has. He even gets jealous thinking she may have a secret man. He’s dependent on her being his efficient assistant and basically bullies her into coming in.
Once Lila comes in, it’s a smell he can’t turn back from. Literally and figuratively the heat is on. The intimate scenes between these two is straight fire🔥This story is a quick read but jammed pack in the best way. This is my first time reading this author but she has got me hooked. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I loved the way the author deals with discrimination on one hand and a hot love story on the other. Also, this book has a lot of levity and humorous situations as well. Great read! Highly recommend it.

There is soo much to love about this novella but as a brown skinned girl, I was surprised when I realized the FMC is just like me 🥹
And seriously 😮💨 the immediate primal response these two have for each other is top tier(/b>, so well written & exactly what I look for in an omegaverse book.
Grayson is a buttoned up, no bullshit, businessman that turns into a straight animal & I couldn’t get enough of it. Not only that but he had the perfect balance of possessive Alpha & tender lover.
Lila is a determined omega that just wants to be successful in a job she loves. Meticulous, dedicated and level headed … until her heat hits. She tries to resist, but it’s not annoying. Sometimes in OV stories the omega resists her “instincts” like the plague which is so annoying because it’s biology. I love the way she leans into Grayson when it hits hard but also tries to reason with the situation in moments of clarity.
Super fun and spicy read with a great hook & enough plot to make to support the smut.
Read if you like 💼 contemporary/corporate settings
If you’re here for dominant alpha energy, workplace tension, and full-blown omegaverse drama, this one delivers.
Knotted by Her Alphahole Boss leans hard into the trope, and I mean that in the best way. The boss is arrogant, possessive, and absolutely convinced he’s in control… until feelings start complicating the dynamic. The push-and-pull between authority and vulnerability keeps the story moving, especially once the emotional walls begin to crack.
What stood out most was the tension. Not just physical, emotional. The power imbalance creates friction, but there’s growth layered in. It’s not just about dominance; it’s about accountability, choice, and whether control can turn into something protective instead of oppressive.
The omegaverse elements are woven in confidently. If you’re already a fan of the genre, you’ll appreciate how naturally the dynamics are handled. If you’re newer to it, this is still approachable without feeling overwhelming.
Lila and Grayson have a powerful love that was meant to be even if it was two years in the making. It was sad that Lila had to hide herself for two years, because she knew that Grayson’s hate for omega’s could be detrimental to her job. It was wonderful when she finally was forced to show what she really was, because that meant that they could finally be together. I hated the fact that even when Grayson found out what Lila really was, she still fought to let herself be with him. I love the fact that in the end they came up with a way for them to be together and for her to still be at the company as his partner and not just his omega. I also loved the part when Lila showed her dominance over Grayson in his office. This was a great book and well worth the read and I can’t wait to read about the other brothers and see their downfalls when they meet their omegas.
This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast-paced, accidental exposure, omegaverse romance between Lila, the female omega personal assistant lead using suppressants, and Grayson, her demanding alpha boss. I empathised with the discrimination Lila faced and the solution she (and others) used. I enjoyed her resilience and her determination to not be mowed down by an accidental bond and Grayson’s demands. I chuckled at Grayson’s expectations that he would automatically be deferred to. I enjoyed seeing him understand that Lila intended to remain her own person and he needed to respect that. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes and the push-pull dynamic. I enjoyed the consternation of Grayson’s brothers and I’m looking forward to their stories too.

Knotted By her AlphaHole Boss reminds me of all the reasons I love romance. This is fantastic and I really enjoyed it. The characters are captivating and exciting. I enjoyed that they aren't like the usual characters from other stories. Grayson and Lila are fated mates, alpha to her omega. Grayson and his brothers made a pact not hire Omegas. Lila wanted a job so let the action begin. Until her heat and her boss refuses to accept her explanation plus its Valentine's day. Neither character began wanting their relationship but with a few of fate twists they have no choice. The story is short with lots of spice and antics. I am really enjoying these spicy valentine day stories and if you enjoy a delightful short read then you will enjoy this story and series. I recommend reading them!
KNOTTED BY HER ALPHAHOLE BOSS is the first book in the Knotted by the Alphahole series. This story is about Grayson and Lila.
Grayson is the oldest brother and head of the company. Lila is his assistant and an omega, although he thinks she is a beta. The reason for this is that Lila hides who she is, knowing (from his own mouth) that he wouldn't have hired her if he knew she was an omega.
It's a short read with plenty of spice, but it does have a story, which is sometimes forgotten. Lila and Grayson both have walls that need to be smashed down, and I loved how it was done. They were both afraid of losing something, never realising just how much they would gain.
Thoroughly enjoyable and definitely recommended by me.

Lila is an omega in a world where being an omega means losing yourself once your claimed by an alpha. She knows this so she hides her true self to have a life where she is more than just some alpha’s omega. Grayson is an alpha and determined that he won’t get an omega. He saw what losing his omega mother did to his alpha father and is determined that the same won’t happen to him. Then Lila is unable to get the suppressants she needs to hide her omega scent and everything changes. Told from dual POV, this is a short hot tale of two people finding the space between what they’ve always thought they wanted and the happiness they could have.

Lila is ambitious and smart omega who wants to prove herself in the workplace. Determined not to let her omega nature hold her back, she hides who she is and uses suppressants to stay sharp. Lila works hard and never backs down from a challenge which makes her very relatable and likeable. Watch her fight for everything she wants in life and never accept no for an answer.
Grayson is the wealthy alpha she works for. He has strict rules about work and emotions due to his troubled past with omegas. He pushes Lila away but can't deny the way she makes him feel. All of their secrets come rushing to the surface when things go south and passion consumes them both.

This is closer to a 3.5 star for me but I rounded up. I hate that Lila didn't want to change but ultimately at the end you do see that she changed. Some of the change was for the better but some of it was exactly what she feared. Grayson can say he was making a safe space for omegas but realistically it was just segregation. I think that the relationship was cute but the practicalities of it definitely made Lila's life harder and limited her which was exactly what she didn't want. I would be open to seeing what the changes made in this book actually resulted in in the following books of this series.
Good story. Just the right length. Too many authors write up hundreds of extra pages and create false dramas, and I get bored/upset when we don't just get to the point and get the story done.Exhibiting a woman who was truly allowed to come into her own power. There are some timeline issues. She acknowledges her pregnancy at 6 weeks, he says he has known before she tells him for 2 weeks because of the change in her scent. I would think she would have detected that as well. Later at a family dinner his brothers talk about him losing his mind 3 weeks earlier. The timeline is more realistic at 6 weeks, so I don't understand the difference. It's like the author forgot what she wrote before.
“This was such a fun read—I enjoyed every second of it. I loved how powerful and strong the female characters were. They don’t bow down to any alphas—they stand their ground and truly represent something in their community.
The found family, the heat, the chemistry… pure perfection. Everything just worked so well together, and it made the story even more addictive.
And watching an omega bring these ‘alpha of alphas’ to their knees? Absolutely priceless 😏.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the brothers—I already know their stories are going to be just as intense.” ✨
Once again forgetting to get you suppressant pills refilled caused a problem. This short story highlights the descrimation of the women that are Omegas . Not being hired because of what you are is why our main female hides who she is. I liked how she stood up for herself and let it be k own she would not be owned. Even if her body did have other ideas. He strongly disliked Omegas because of the pain his father went through. But once her scent hit him well he was a gonner. This story had more that just having bedroom scenes. There was a good plot and the ground breaking business structure that came about.

This book is very cute. I loved the concept and the characters. But it feels like reading a story in fast-forward you miss all the good parts because everything moves so quickly. If it’s meant to be a short story, that’s totally fine, but it needs more detail and development. Basically, they hook up and suddenly that’s it — they’re together forever. We don’t really get to see or feel the struggle or emotional buildup that would make that ending satisfying.
A short steamy romantic omegaverse story. An alpha boss falls deeply for his omega employee, and although both fear the consequences, they manage to put a positive spin on it. Grayson is the eldest of four alpha brothers determined never to fall for an omega. He falls first, so there will likely be three more stories about his brothers. Grayson turns out to be an alpha with a soft core, and Lila is an omega who stands up for herself. An accessible writing style, ideal length for an in-between read.
