Idk why I keep doing this to myself. (Possible spoilers ahead with recap) This was about a 3 1/2 hour read for me, and I didn’t want to get into something heavy. Shifter books with the rejected theme seem to be very similar to each other.
This book was very predictable. This author is very predictable. You know what you’re getting. 🤷♀️
h walks in on her boyfriend, Jason boinking OW. They both laugh at h about how naive she is. (For the life of me, I can’t imagine standing there and having that much discussion during this. I’d be throwing some hands or furniture. h is literally standing there so long talking with them, that they both have time to get fully dressed. 😬😬😬)
h goes to a bar to drown her sorrows, and sees H- who happens to be Jason’s uncle. He’s been out of town for years.
H and h get hit with the *fated mates* bond. They boink all night. He gets summoned to the Alpha’s house (his brother) and he leaves h a note that he’ll be back. 😒
So…a little backstory before we get to the betrayal. h was a member of the blood pack. Her whole pack was wiped out by H’s brother- the alpha. h survived, and the alpha and his wife (also Jason’s parents) took h in and raised her. h loved them and they loved her (even though they killed everybody in her pack 😩) The blood pack was considered dangerous because of their ability to do blood magic.
(If you really stop and think about this plot, it’s mind blowing. Her whole pack was wiped out. Just murdered. Even all the kids/babies. And NOBODY seems to think anything is wrong with this? h loves the people who did this? Huh?)
Anyway, the Alpha and his wife were murdered the night h was boinking H. h is accused because her bracelet was at the scene and the air smelled of blood magic. Jason is outraged and wants h put to death ASAP. Well, the counsel makes the uncle (H) the alpha. That pisses Jason off even more. Simon (super helpful counsel member who is also dad to the OW Jason was cheating with) is the loudest mouth yelling for h to be ☠️. Every single person KNOWS that Simon is a power-hungry arsehole, but naturally, everybody listens to him.
(I couldn’t understand why the bad people didn’t make Jason the Alpha. He would have been easy to manipulate. It makes NO sense why they appointed H.)
h is begging and pleading that she didn’t kill her adopted parents. She was technically with H all night long. 🤷♀️
H is a nice guy, so he just rejects her, then banishes her. The men drop her off in the middle of the forest. 🙃 She was attacked by rogues, then a mysterious woman saved her. 🚩🚩
A few weeks later, h is pregnant. h makes sure to tell us in her POV that she knows it’s H’s kid because she wasn’t with Jason for months. lol
(I did laugh a little at this plot. h supposedly loved Jason. She was with him for 2 years. Spent ONE night with H, and Jason was a distant memory. Dickmatized 💯 will do it everytime)
From H’s POV- we find out he did plan on sending his man to get h from the woods and protect her. Awe, so sweet. 🥴 His man didn’t make it in time.
4 years later.
h has a 3-year-old daughter named Sage. The woman who saved her is now her super helpful BFF. They both own/run a successful AI company.
H has been investigating the murders all this time. He suspects Simon, but all the evidence still leads to h.
OW (Simon’s daughter) spends all her time trying to hook up with H. She just flat out tells him he’s going to have to marry her one day. 😂😂🤪 (I guess she forgot about Jason)
Ofc, H’s company has to do business with h’s company. The reunion is not happy and H seems confused on why h is not happy to see him. He sees the little girl and suspects it’s his kid (since they look like twins) but she denies it.
BBS kicks in almost immediately. (I almost rolled my eyes right out of my eye sockets)
I’m gonna skip all the dumb back and forth these MCs do.
H is running around acting like a caveman, beating his chest- MINE MINE MINE! h acts like she hates him, but her BBS shows she’s a liar. AND..the BFF is around, acting all weird.
It’s literally no surprise when you find out the BFF is a snake.
So….Simon had another “secret” daughter, who was BFF. She was a member of the blood pack and he also saved her the night h was saved. Then later, he used his daughter and they killed the alpha and his wife. They set up h, along with OWs help. BFF helped h because she planned to use her so they could rebuild their pack. Huh?
Anyway, h ☠️ BFF (I did enjoy that part)
One thing I found very odd about this story- the punishment for Simon and OW. H banished them and he also removed their wolf. HOW DOES THIS WORK? I’ve never seen that before and frankly, it doesn’t make much sense. If an alpha can remove wolves, wouldn’t they be doing that to anybody who opposes them? What happens if there is an evil alpha in charge? 😒😒
Both Simon and his daughter both needed to be ☠️ in the worst way possible. Maybe throw them into a pit of poisonous snakes? (This is probably why I won’t ever rule the world)
I did like the fact that Jason was *somewhat* redeemed. He’s still a lying, cheating piece of 💩 and I would never EVER trust him…..but he did get his act together. His only punishment was he got demoted and has to train. 🥴

Like all the stories in this series, this book is full of betrayal and action, danger and drama. Nyra Vale is from the Blood Moon Pack and was adopted by the Silver Moon Pack when she was young, she is betrayed by her boyfriend when she walked in on him with another woman in the bedroom on her 23rd birthday. What a gift. She goes to a bar to lick her wounds, and then she meets Killian Vaughn, the Silver Moon pack’s beta who turns out to be her fated mate, eventually there is a HEA.

A complex story of murder, intrigue, betrayal, sacrifice, redemption, friendship, and love. The characters are excellent and their actions bring a lot of emotion to the reader. Prepare yourself for a roller coaster of feelings.
