Cattle ranching wasn't for the tender hearted or weak stomached. Cattle births weren't pretty and the stench of death in the summer was something brutal. Patrick Dillard knew all this from a young and was no fool to what it took to be a rancher. Though, that didn't make things any easier for someone as soft as Patrick Crybaby Dillard. The nickname, given to him after he was caught crying one too many times, stuck like gum to the bottom of a boot. However, as years churned on, the nicknamed faded until the only reminder of it was when the women of Suncreek Ridge called him Baby. While he hated that the nickname lingered after all these years, he couldn't deny he didn't hate it when a pretty little thing called him Baby. Until Nash fucking Colby.

Similar to Brokback Mountain, but with a better ending, this is a touching tale of love on the range. Two very likable young men, one rather earnest, the other confident and cocky, giving us a lovely tale.
This is a boss x employee to more cowboy romance novella, featuring Nash Colby and Patrick Dillard, and is a standalone book.
Patrick is a soft-hearted rancher who grew up in a tough, unforgiving world and earned the nickname “Crybaby”, later shortened to “Baby.” He doesn’t mind it so much, until Nash Colby starts using it.
This one was short but sweet and I ate it up. Who doesn’t love a kind-hearted cowboy. Nash and Patrick were a perfect fit together. Nash wearing Patrick down and acting on their attraction was everything. Loved the Dom/sub vibes and how pliant Patrick was. I love me a novella but could have read more of these two, they had such a great dynamic.
Things to expect in this book are: Standalone book Novella MM cowboy romance Small town Rancher x ranch hand Boss x employee Forced proximity Calls him baby Cinnamon roll MC Virgin MC Denial of attraction Closeted MC Marking Spicy times & dirty talk Dom / sub Sir / good boy Barn play Edging Time apart each year Secret relationship Admit feelings Coming out HEA
'He was drawn to Nash like a moth to a flame-bound to be burnt. As long as Nash was the flame though, Patrick didn't care if he turned to ash... Right in the center of Patrick's body was a Nash shaped hole that glowed red 'round the edges.'
Wow... I... wow. what an absolutely stunning novella! Something Irresistible wasn't at all what I was expecting from a small-town, boss/employee to lovers hard-won romance. I wasn't expecting to get so emotionally attached, but the angst and yearning was absolutely god-tier and it sucked me right in. There's just something about a well-written cowboy romance jam packed with spice and pining that ticks all the boxes for me. If it can make me laugh, cry, and warm my cold dead heart, I think the author is doing something pretty special.
Nash and Patrick's story was short but so beautifully written that my heart actually ached for them and, I'm not ashamed to say, I shed a tear when Patrick and Nash got their happily ever so easily after so many years of thinking they couldn't have it. I could easily have read hundreds more pages about these two navigating a full-time relationship after ten years of only getting to spend a season together each year. I actually haven't stopped thinking about this story since I finished it and I think that's a testament to how expertly and evocatively T. Rossmaur writes. I felt like I was on the ranch with Patrick and Nash, to the point where I felt like a voyeur (in the best way) of their most intimate moments.
And intimate they were. The soft Dom/sub relationship that blooms between this grumpy/sunshine pair is so lovely. It's a fast burn for sure, but the trust that develops between Nash and Patrick doesn't come out of thin air. Nash earns that trust from Patrick by showing up all day, every day - pushing Patrick to the edge and catching him when he falls. I thought there was a great balance between romance and kink. A lot of their sexual relationship is rooted in kink and BDSM elements, especially the dacryphilia that Patrick is so ashamed of, but those also translate to deep trust and open communication between them that bleeds into their quiet, romantic moments. When Patrick's not being a surly little arsehole and refusing to acknowledge his feelings, that is. I loved Nash's easy acceptance of Patrick's needs and his eagerness to take care of the surly rancher and show him that there's no shame in displaying the intense emotions that he feels.
This was such a lovely novella about learning to trust and accept parts of yourself you've kept hidden for so long, and I'm so glad I got to read it. I can't wait to read more of T. Rossmaur's work and I'd highly recommend this book if you're looking for something short and spicy, or something that will rip your heart out and stomp on it. Big fan.
Sometimes the biggest life changes come in the smallest packages. 📖✨ Something Irresistible is a beautiful Western novella (under 100 pages!) about finding the courage to live your truth. It took a rascally, charming flirt to get Patrick there, but seeing him finally be open about who he is and who he wants—and getting that immediate support—was the sweetest thing. 🥹
Something Irresistible had my attention, from the first post I saw on Instagram. @author_t.rossmaur had me with the cowboys. I don't think he planned for this to make me so sad... but something about this little novella broke my heart.
• cowboy/ranch hand • first time (bi-awakening) • a little D/s • beg for it • ✨️good boy✨️ • internalized homophobia • banter • nicknames
Patrick is reluctant to get part time help over the winter, and his father hires someone anyway. Nash is a smooth talking, bossy, "pretty" man.
This novella DOES have an HEA, so I can't really explain why the story made me so sad. Maybe it's Pat's loneliness. Or the way everyone seems to treat him. But honestly I wanted to wrap him up in a blanket and send him to bed.
Something Irresistible is out March 21st, and its only 92 pages - so it can be a little pallete cleanser between books or a little shorty to help you with your reading goals.

Omgggg!

Oh my! I’ve been waiting for this short story ever since the author announced it months ago, and I’m dying over how good it was! 🔥😭
Patrick and Nash were so much more than I expected, honestly. At first, I thought this would just be a quick read without much angst, but Patrick’s journey really put me through it! 😭 He was definitely the highlight of the book, especially his moments with Nash. 🥹💖
I liked Nash too, but I feel like he really should have acted sooner (iykyk 🫵🏻😭). This was such a great short story—a well-deserved 5⭐ rating!
I personally love everything western, so when I read about Something Irresistible by T. Rossmaur I knew I had to get my hands on it. And boy, did this not disappoint. Despite it being a shorter story, the characterisation was on point. The development of the story didn’t suffer one bit, and the way the author built the plot is immaculate. Nash and Patrick are incredibly precious, they make a lovely well balanced couple. But I have to admit my heart belongs to Patrick. So unsure about his feelings at the beginning, but pretty quickly he realises Nash is what he wants, and he doesn’t let go. His heart was so warm, large and beautiful, I was so happy to read about it. And I was so relieved when the boys got their happy ever after. My mind kept drifting back to Brokeback Mountain and to its ending but at some point I realised: no this is something different. This is something wholesome and soft, and I get to enjoy seeing two people happy in the end.
I can only recommend this book, if you want a fun, quirky, sweet love story. My advice is to read a chapter a day, so it lasts longer—I really wanted to do this but when I got to chapter 7 I had to know what happened so, it didn’t work for me! I was too eager, glued to my screen. Well done!
This is my very first ARC, so thank you to T. Rossmaur for sending me a copy of Something Irresistible. I was really excited to read it.
Even though this is a short novel, it never felt rushed to me. The story moves at a natural pace and the emotions felt believable. The characters’ feelings, doubts, and little moments of uncertainty came across in a way that felt very real.
I also really enjoyed the writing style, especially the cowboy language and accent. It sounded authentic to me and added a lot of character to the story. Living a nice, comfortable city life myself, I could easily imagine a story like this happening somewhere out there, with people going through exactly these kinds of feelings.
I also appreciated that the book doesn’t try to overcomplicate things. It keeps the story simple and focused on the characters, which I personally liked a lot.
Overall, it was a really nice, quick read that I enjoyed from start to finish. And a lovely first ARC experience for me.
The teasers were teasing and even though I said I was slowing down on arc signups (aren't I always saying that?), I signed up for this one immediately. Zero regrets! I've been wanting to dip my toes in the cowboy tea and this was the perfect intro.
Patrick just hurt my heart. When Nash comes to the ranch for winter work, Patrick is forced to confront this internal struggle that's been weighing on him his whole life - and he's not happy about it at first. While Nash might be down for some tension, he makes it clear that he takes no shit and it ends up being exactly what Patrick needed to hear.
Things heat up pretty quickly between them after that - it's equal parts spicy and heartwarming. They lead very different lives and while Nash seems set, Patrick yearns for something more. It's sweet, and sad - and in the end, beautiful in the way their lives come together. Loved these ranchers, 10/10 would read more.

This short novella was such a quick read for me, but somehow it didn’t feel small at all.
The whole time I was reading, I couldn’t stop thinking about Brokeback Mountain and that quiet, aching kind of love. If you’ve ever wished for a softer ending there, this story really feels like it’s healing something.
I went in expecting something light, but the emotional depth completely caught me off guard. How did the author manage to fit this much longing, confusion, and vulnerability into just 96 pages? It honestly feels unreal.
Patrick’s journey carries so much weight. His struggle with himself, the way he processes everything. And then there’s Nash, bringing that steady, softer presence, even if you might get a little frustrated wishing he’d act faster.
Their connection is quiet but intense. For such a short read, it delivers a full emotional experience. Tender, painful, spicy and hopeful all at once.
4 stars Well, this story surprised me and it was very much enjoyable. Patrick is a lovely sweet man who has a demanding job, the kind of job performed by "real" though man. He always had a soft side and it hasn't been easy for him to swallow down his feelings and act all unbothered and strong. His facade falls when the ranch hand his father hired arrives to help during winter. Nash is like a sunshine: beautiful, easygoing, outspoken, teaser. He's the exact opposite of Patrick. And he is exactly what Patrick needs.
Under Nash's guidance, Patrick will discover that being a crybaby, letting his emotions run free, allowing another person to make all the decisions is the best thing in the world. Patrick is happy to have Nash, even if it's just temporary.
What prevented me from giving a higher rate: I needed more romantic moments and less kinky ones.
I enjoyed very much this author writing, I'm definitely going to check his other books
Patrick and Nash having to work on winter on the ranch, after Nash being hired for that time period, made it possible for these two to rapidly develop an attraction for each other. For Patrick it was a constant struggle to feel that kind of attraction towards Nash, where his body and mind were not in sync in the presence of Nash. Loved the way their relationship grew in such a short period of time that you could tell that these two genuinely formed a comfortable connection.
There is a little angst in the story, and I actually enjoyed it, like I could feel the longing between these two, and it’s something that puts into perspective how these characters think and process their feelings.
Overall, a great short read with a hot dynamic but with a journey of self-discovery and acceptance filled with many emotions that make you feel for these two.
Buckle up cowboy, this is not very long, but it sure is a ride!
In a word, romcom. At its finest. You get lines like someone bursting into a room at an ungodly hour yelling about hitting the road, immediately followed by coffee orders with "a shit ton of creamer" . At one point, there’s literally that classic "I looked at him and immediately wished I hadn’t" moment.
And then there’s the dynamic. The kind where one character is like "don’t embarrass me" while very clearly being completely delighted at the thought.
It’s not just a romcom, there are moments where things shift, where the characters feel a little too much, and it adds depth without losing that cozy, addictive vibe.
Also… someone literally calling them "lovebirds" way too early? Iconic!
"Baby"... That's it, that's the comment.
So, you know what they say... Save a horse, ride a cowboy 🤠 Give this book a try!
(Spoiler-free review) I was fortunate enough to read an early copy of this novella, and I am so grateful. This small but mighty story packs a romantic punch that hit me hard. Patrick and Nash's dynamic jumped off the page and into my soul while I watched them come to terms with their lives as individuals as well as a potential couple. Witnessing Patrick's road to self discovery and coming to terms with his sexuality was rewarding. Nash's care for his "Baby" was something I'd love to read about again and again. I can't wait to discover more from this author, and I highly recommend this short but sweet read.
When the author wrote in the beginning of this book, "To everyone who's read or watched Brokeback Mountain and wished Jack and Ennis got their Happily ever after, this is for you." I knew this was going to be the book for me because that was always my wish for Jack and Ennis, I felt they disserved it. So, thank you T. Rossmaur I am so glad Patrick and Nash got there's. I loved Nelly she was so amazing and understanding which I loved. I loved how the story played out and most definitely how it ended. This was such an amazing book. I will be buying in it paperback cause this was my dream book, and I have waited a long time for. Thank you so much for the arc read it was so amazing.
Oh I loved Nash and Patrick. This is such a perfect novella, I did not want it to end. The author packs in so much story in the subtext, so much emotion. I felt for Patrick- that man is deep and sensitive and just must be protected. Nash is a force of nature and just what Patrick needs. Their story is told almost entirely until the end through Patrick’s eyes. Expect a heartfelt hurt comfort Cowboy romance with a dash of power exchange which works perfectly with their dynamic over the 4 years we get to see them. Woven with beautiful touching moments between the two this book is a joy to read.
HOW?! Did you manage to fit so much into 100 pages! This short novella was packed with plenty of feels and spice. I really enjoyed reading about these two cowboys and the journey they go through to get their HEA.
Looking forward to reading more by T. Rossmaur
Spicy, short and sweet 5/5 stars.
Small town Virgin Pretty lil ** Good boy (Light BDSM) Beg for it
This cowboy romance was spicy and fun. Patrick and Nash are two characters that I'm so glad I got to meet. With a bit of kink and a bit of romance, Something Irresistible will pull at your heartstrings. Patrick might not be the only crybaby once you're done with it.
92 pages of sensational cowboy spice, and a HEA I knew was coming but still spent half the book with my stomach in knots.
Nash and Patrick are ultimate meant to be goals. After taking a job on Patrick’s ranch during the winter, Nash awakens something in Pat. Is he questioning whether his was always queer, or is his time with Nash reaffirming something he knew deep down? There’s no way whatever is happening between these two men could ever be a temporary fling, with only stolen months during the winter enough to keep either of them satisfied.
This was my first T. Rossmaur book and certainly not my last. Something Irresistible became a whole encompassing journey. From the connection you so easily develop with the characters, and even the delicious Southern accent the whole story is written in, it’s impossible not to be invested.
Typically I’m not a huge fan of novellas, they tend to feel rushed, and like the author is trying to fit in too much. That was not the case with this book at all. I have read two of this authors previous novellas and loved them, so I knew that I would be in good hands when I got this arc.
The vibes I got from this book at the beginning were very Brokeback Mountain, so I was already feeling emotional from the start. By the time I was 40% in I was crying. My heart hurt for poor Patrick (Baby hehe) because even though he was putting on a gruff and tough front, I knew from the start he was a soft boy. And there was just something beautiful about the way T wrote him, I knew I’d see more of that soft boy if he would just let Nash in.
And Nash. Well.. I don’t wanna spoil anything but I love him. Hahahaha.
The spice in this was top tier! Ugh so good- even though the story didn’t feel like it was lacking, I was definitely feral for more of these cowboys, and was sad when the book was over. They’re stuck in my heart now, and (bc I’m me and everything makes me cry) feel a bit weepy when I think about them.
Loved going blind into this shortish story. It was while on the shorter side (yay for commitment phobes) a great time.
The pairing was interesting and their chemistry there from the first meet up and the way it unfolded was refreshing.
This was not my first T Rossmaur and it will definitely not be my last. He writes intriguing stories with interesting dynamics that makes me come back for more.
