This small, 8" by 8", book is a lovely size to read and the combination of photographs and text is perfect for that too. The beginning of the book focuses on conifers, the middle on broadleaf evergreens, and the end on deciduous/semi-evergreen shrubs. Each plant selection has a comprehensive description including size details, growth habits, best growing conditions, disease and pest problems, and notable varieties. Simeone is a good writer, who makes the descriptions interesting to read and helps the reader envision where these plants might enhance their garden. Due to its size, this book covers limited plants but even an advanced gardener will find value in this book.
