I figured out what was happening about 2/3 of this short story. Still, I loved it. Succinct and well written.

I never used to read short stories, till the late Marina Keegan made me realize that I was missing out on some really good reading.

Never saw the ending coming, Browne can right a really good story, doesn't matter the length and he'll have your undivided attention. Expect the unexpected, it's not the cookie cutter stories that so many authors write.

And I read this on mother's day....

Robert Gregory Brown can whip out a great mystery in a few pages or 300. All I could say at the end was Wow.
