We immediately pick up right where we left off at and let's just say for the first 25% of this book I really thought about DNFing it. Both MMC and FMC were fed lies by members of Angel. Damien was told that Seraphina didn't love him and ran away, Seraphina was told Damien used her and has a girlfriend. And they both believed the lies that their enemy told them... like are you really that dumb????? WHY WOULD YOU BELIEVE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN TRYING TO UNALIVE YOU?!?!?
And another I didn't understand was why Seraphina kept the secret about Lucy for so long... why are you trying to help the women who led you to almost being graped and unalived?!?!?! It was just really stupid on her part.
But I am glad I did push through because after Damien started realizing they were both lied to he had a complete character change. He was actually helping her with her trauma and her triggers were always taken into consideration. He forced Seraphina into communicating more because we all know who crappy of a communicator they both are, a lot could have been avoided if they both just communicated the problem!
I know that Seraphina was meant to be written as a quiet FMC, who is very submissive, and a damsel in distress, but I was happy to see that she was starting to bite back a little more. Her character development was starting to turn around. I was enjoying the fact that she was voicing her opinions of what she liked and did not like, and she even started unaliving people with no remorse for even considering trying to hurt Damien.
So not only is Damien a touch her and 💀, but so is Seraphina! I think this was a challenging read for me as there were a lot of dark contexts but also I'm not used how quiet and submissive the FMC is and how controlling the MMC actually is. But it wrapped up nicely and I actually like reading it.
Thank you A.V. Blackmoor for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read Monster's Prey!
I have no idea what kept me reading this book. I didn't want to stop reading, but just about every character pissed me off. Damien and Seraphina were both lied to by their enemies. Not just rivals but people actively trying to kill them. Both of them believed the lies. Even when there was obvious evidence that something was not quite right. Damien is so impulsive that I find it hard to believe that he is the leader of a huge successful company. Seraphina seems to believe whatever anyone tells her. And everyone else is too afraid of Damien that they don't dare to have an opinion or try to stop him from his own stupidity. I don't know how to rate this book because I was frustrated by most of the characters, but I felt compelled to keep reading.
The last book left off where Seraphina was taken by Angel...they make her believe that Damien doesn't want her so they give her a new life in a tiny town in the Catskills. She has a tiny, dingy apartment, a job at a gas station, and she eats her meals at the local diner. It's a sad existence but she's making it and she's free.
Of course, Damien has no clue that she didn't really leave on her own so he's furious with her. He thinks she left him and he's not standing for that. It takes him 8 months, but he eventually finds her. And when he does, he gives her absolute hell. But as he does that, she gets very sick and it makes him re-think what he thinks he knows. Eventually, the whole sad tale comes out, and he realizes they were both wrong and they were lied to by Angel.
In the time that follows her sickness, he becomes even more obsessed with her. Their relationship is kind of effed up...and a little bit toxic. They obsess over each other to the point that it's a little sickening. But ho-hey...as long as they're happy, it's whatever. Still, danger lurks around the corner and they're not free to live their lives in peace just yet. Angel still needs to be dealt with.
Now, normally, I'm good with a lot of spice, and this book has it. BUT...and this is a big one that I just can't get over...I can't count the number of times that the author writes about Damien's tongue reaching Seraphina's G-spot. So, does he have like a 5" tongue? I can't even imagine that 1) it's possible and 2) that the girth of a tongue INSIDE is enough to do much of anything. Because us women know where the tongue belongs when it's down there and it's not inside. OK, I'll step down off my soapbox. I'm good with all the other stuff...just that one got on my nerves.
Anywho, Damien is completely controlling and Seraphina is submissive in all ways. Even after he beats her pretty badly, then leaves her in a forest to find her way back....even after he dangles her from balconies...even after he whips her...she knows it comes from a "place of love". Like I said, to each their own. Live and let live...and all that. If that's your bag, live your life. The story itself was good enough to keep me going but it wasn't a page turner. So, it was a little "meh". It has a HEA...so there's that. :)
Devil Kept picks up right where Devil Owned left off with Seraphina buried alive by ANGEL. When Damien is about to give up his search for her, he is told that she is alive, but has run away, not wanting to return to him. Confused about why she would leave when they were finally happy, he is determined to track her down and make her pay for leaving him.
Seraphina has spent the past 8 months miserable. While she understands that going back to Damien will result in her death, she knows that she isn’t really living without him. Having not spoken in 8 months, due to her grief, she knows the moment he has tracked her down in her small town, and is torn between trying to save herself, and submitting to what she has wanted all along.
I received an early copy of this book from the author and really loved it! While I found the first one a bit slow and repetitive at times, this one was action packed and left me waiting to see what would happen next. The dynamic between Seraphina and Damien was challenging, with him trying to go back to the way things were before, but while Seraphina still craved pain with her pleasure, it was hard for her to trust that he truly wanted to be with her, and wouldn’t just discard her. The mental health aspect in this one was huge, given the amount of trauma that Seraphina has suffered throughout her life, and Damien had to break down her walls by showing his love through actions, rather than just words. In the end, their jagged edges matched perfectly.
Damien has figured out that Seraphina is actually alive and is going to burn down the world looking for her. When he finally brings her home, he's changed a little. He is still the OTT dominant kind of guy, but he's starting to realize that he wants her by his side and happy, so he becomes a little "softer" for her!! Seraphina is getting a handle on what she wants and is learning to come to terms with it.
The mystery and suspense with Angel is at its highest, and again, Damien is going to find a way to take them out, including the mole he knows is within his organization. Especially when he finds out what Seraphina went through. The chemistry is high, and the spicy times are steamy!
This was a great conclusion to this duet, and I'm so glad they found their HEA!!

There's a specific kind of reader anxiety that comes from finishing a book and dreading that the sequel won't earn what the first book promised. Devil Kept earns it.
Picking up in the aftermath of where Devil Owned left off, this conclusion to the duet does something I didn't quite expect: it slows down just enough in the right moments to let you feel the weight of everything these two characters have been through, before pulling the rug out from under you again. The pacing is sharper here than in the first book. The tension between Damien and Seraphina stops feeling like a feature of the plot and starts feeling like its own living thing.
What struck me most was Seraphina. She arrives in this book fractured in ways that feel earned, and watching her navigate a world that has repeatedly tried to destroy her is genuinely compelling. Damien remains the kind of character you wouldn't wish on anyone in real life, and yet the story is honest about that contradiction rather than trying to sand it down into something more palatable. He doesn't become good. He becomes hers, which is a different thing entirely, and the book understands the difference. The HEA here won't be for everyone. It's not tidy. But it feels true to who these characters are, and I think that's the harder thing to pull off.
If you read the first book, you already know whether this world is for you. If it was, then this one's better. Just check the content warnings. They're there for a reason.
Author A.V. Blackmoor has written an interesting romance and thriller story in Devil Kept, which held my attention throughout.
The story begins with an intriguing action: the protagonist, Damien, sets out to find his girlfriend, Seraphina. He, along with a bunch of his friends and colleagues, faces the challenges posed by their enemies, and Seraphina ultimately ends up living alone, working at a gas station.
The author ultimately reunites both Damien and Seraphina, and then the story moves on in a romantic fashion. Both characters are well-developed and three-dimensional. Blackmoor succeeds in making Damien dominant and possessive towards Seraphina by showing their intense romantic encounters.
The plot moves steadily, with no boring parts, and I like how the author has combined action and romance, balancing them equally. The end scenes, where the abduction of Seraphina and how successfully they escape from the clutches of their enemies are well described, and it held my attention.
The secondary characters, Logan, Everest, Alice, Gabriel, etc., play their parts well, and they contribute to the overall progression of the story. Damien’s unique character, punishing his enemies and rewarding his loyalists, is well portrayed through some interesting scenes in the story.
It is a good romance and thriller story which I highly recommend to readers who like the intense togetherness of the main characters, along with some action-packed scenes.
This one was definitely darker than the first book Devil Owned... smuttier too. Damien is determined to take out the rest of the ANGEL organization, find the other rat amongst his crew & locate the ONLY thing that matters to him. His pet, Seraphina. Seraphina is once again kidnapped, however this time she is convinced Damien is going to kill her. After being brainwashed by ANGEL and left in a secluded town to move on with her life. Instead of getting stronger and thriving with her new freedom, she becomes depressed to the point of muteness, stuck in her new mundane life. Seraphina gets put through so much trauma in these to books. This poor girl!! Glad the story has a happy ending though. Well, happy for her in her world, not my type of relationship personally but to each thier own.
If you are a glutton for punishment, like Seraphina, this book is a must read.
Favorite Quotes from the book:
Best way to describe the relationship: "Guess we're two fucked up weirdos, and thats why we belong together"
Damiens POV: "This girl is like a walking, talking Viagra Pill. Well, not so much a talking pill..."
Seraphinas POV: "Keeping me in a state of constant denial, punishment and reward. His mood always changing from one extreme to the other, without warning, keeping me on my toes."
***Thank you to the author A.V. Blackmoor for providing the ARC
Thanks to the author for allowing me to read the advanced reader copy (ARC) of Devil Kept.
4.5⭐ 5 🌶️
I don't think I have ever felt so satisfied by the ending of a series. The Devil Duet ended perfectly.
Devil Kept is a Dark Romance (thriller) based predominantly around the revenge trope. It was thrilling, exhilarating with twists and turns wherever you go.
First of all... I KNEW LUCY WAS THE RAT!! And the way in which it came out was fantastic. I didn't feel like it was predictable, I doubted myself a few times!
Gabriel turning up out of the blue... I don't think I've ever been so gob smacked. Great twist!
This book kept me on tenderhooks throughout. I loved the development of Damien and Seraphina's relationship and think the end of the book was beautifully written. I also love other relationship developments such as the bridges being built between Seraphina and Logan. It was heartwarming and a nice touch.
Lots and LOTS of spice which I loooooved. My only critique was that the spice felt quite samey... I love a bit of variety 😊 however the fact there was plenty of it is a thumbs up from me.
I highly recommend the Devil Duet series. I look forward to reading more from AV Blackmoor in future. You definitely have an avid fan in me 🖤
I enjoyed Devil Kept because it starts with real urgency and I felt the stakes right away. I liked that it continues directly after book one and I stayed invested in what happened to Seraphina and how Damien reacted. I appreciated that this sequel moved faster and felt more action packed, with more suspense around Angel and the threats inside Damien’s world. I liked the push and pull between the main characters because it felt messy and intense, not neat or easy. I felt Seraphina’s trauma was taken seriously, and I appreciated that the story showed how hard trust is after what she has been through. I liked watching her find a voice again in her own way and I liked seeing Damien prove his feelings through actions, even when his control issues stayed front and center. I thought the chemistry stayed high and the tension stayed consistent from chapter to chapter. I appreciated that the duet actually gave closure and I felt the ending fit the tone of the series. I also liked that the book did not pretend this relationship is healthy in a normal way, but I felt it was honest about what kind of love story it is. I recommend it to readers who already like dark romance, revenge themes, and morally grey characters, and I think it delivers a strong finale.
We left Seraphina being buried alive by the Angels at the end of Book 1. Devil Kept tells us what happened with Seraphina, and how Damien reacts. Of course, Damien has gotten even more possessed and obsessive over his "Pet" as time has gone on. The action is even wilder, the plot is fast paced and the relationship between Damien and Seraphina is BOILING. The DEVILs are missing "V" (Vale) as he was discovered to be the rat in Book One. They are seeing new and increased competition from the Angels who are using Seraphina as a weapon to get back at Damien. But the central focus is always the crazy, obsessive relationship between the 2 main characters. Seraphina has cheated death more times than we can count, but in an odd way she is stronger than you would think. Damien is not a good man, but the way he protects Seraphina shows some good in him. These 2 have miscommunication, lies and deception between them. Yet somehow they manage to come to a HEA in this book. Note - it wouldn't be everyone's idea of "Happy" but it's theirs. I could barely put this book down. But do read the trigger warnings. This relationship is not about flowers and candy!.
I didn’t have a chance to read the first book in the duet before picking up “Devil Kept”, but after finishing this one I know I’ll definitely be going back to it. The story clearly builds on events from the previous installment, and it left me curious about how Damien and Seraphina’s twisted and intense relationship first began. Even without that background, the book still manages to pull you into its dark world of obsession, revenge, and emotional turmoil. This is not your sweet romance with butterflies, its pain mixed with pleasure, spiced up with possession and bdsm. Both Damien and Seraphina are deeply wounded and complicated characters, their obsession with each other is borderline insane, and yet the author makes it work and the story keeps you turning pages. Yes, all the triggers, including strong sexual content, bdsm, and others, that author declares are present, so if you prefer vanilla romance, it’s definitely not for you. But if you like your story to be dark and hardcore, with morally grey characters and unusual choices - you are in for a ride.
If dark romance isn’t your thing, this one probably won’t be for you — and even if you are a fan of the genre, definitely check the trigger warnings first. But if you’ve already read book one, you’ll have a good idea of what you’re stepping into.
The story starts strong with lots of moving pieces keeping the plot engaging. About halfway through, the focus shifts more toward Damien and Seraphina’s relationship and their intense chemistry, which dark romance readers will likely appreciate🌶️🌶️🌶️
Damien honestly had me conflicted the entire time. He’s undeniably ruthless, and his actions prove it, but his vulnerable moments almost make you forget that… until his darker side shows again.
Seraphina shows flashes of real strength, and I liked her moments of defiance. I did find myself wishing she pushed back even more, but considering her situation — and Damien himself — it’s understandable why that isn’t always possible.
I need more Logan. I feel like he has a story worth telling.
Overall, an intense continuation of the Devil Duet!
Thank you to the author for sharing an ARC of this book with me !!
“Your pain is my pain. I’m going to take it from you, and I’m going to own it. Just like I do the rest of you”
Wild. Absolutely, totally, undeniably crazy and terrifying. And yet addicting and obsessive. I think I needed to know Seraphina and Damian could reach their happy ending. Even though this book started on the darker side … it was definitely matched to the first one when it comes to content and spiciness and darkness and being unhinged. Absolutely check your trigger warnings before diving into this one but … dark crazy unhinged romance girlie … this is gonna be all about learning to love and be loved when you think you don’t deserve it and you have been betrayed by the world. Enjoy !!!
Things pick up where the cliffhanger left us and I am happy to report that the conclusion to this duet was satisfying. The characters and plot continue to be dark and morally black which I liked the consistency.
I enjoyed the pacing in this book a lot more than the first. There's more action along with the suspense having me more on the edge of my seat than before. There is a lot more heat in this book than in the first and it was so hot!
While Damien continues to be OTT possessive he becomes better and shows Seraphina how much he cares for her. Seraphina develops more of a backbone in the book but is still traumatized after everything she's been put through and it's hard for her to trust. I felt the journey Damien and Seraphina took to get to their particular HEA was well written and satisfying.
This picks up right where we left off, after Serephina was buried alive by ANGEL — only to be saved and fed a web of lies that keeps her hiding from Damien for eight months.
Damien, on a mission to find her and also misled by ANGEL, finally tracks her down — only to discover she’s more broken than when he originally held her captive.
In this book, we really see Damien grow as a partner for Serephina, helping her confront her trauma. Serephina also develops significantly, and by the end, they’re equally obsessed with each other, willing to do anything for one another. The spicy scenes are intense and well-written, but definitely not for everyone.
The rivalry between DEVIL and ANGEL, combined with the character development, made this a compelling conclusion to the duet.
Again, like book one, dark romance is not for everyone — please check the trigger warnings before diving in 🖤
I received an ARC copy of this book and I couldn’t put it down! Just when you think the characters are safe- stuff hits the fan! I loved the action and suspense! The FMC and MMC in this duology are so great for each other. I love when characters in a romantic relationship fill the gaps for each other by giving the other one what they want or need but can’t actually voice. These two books are a great example of that! This book is perfect for lovers of dark romance, morally DARK gray MMCs that go through a change because of the FMC they love! It’s also great for those who love a thrilling “who is the rat” mystery wrapped in spice! (Very spicy book!) Cannot wait to read the next book by A.V. titled Monster’s Prey! Setting a reminder in my phone now!
I received my copy of devil kept as an arc from the author, thank you A. V. Blackmoor! I loved that this book picked up as soon as the last one left off. That cliffhanger the last book left you on was resolved quickly. I wish that the characters had better communication, as it felt like the same things kept happening. You’d think they’d learn that if they communicated better it would fix some of the problems. I was surprised so on in the entire company caught on to Lucy, like even in the first book I thought they would have. I did like that the fmc and mmc continued develop throughout the book. Overall a good book I did enjoy how it was touch her and 💀 for both fmc and mmc it’s usually only one in the books I’ve read.

There is nothing sweet and soft about this romance and you might find yourself questioning how...how are we even rooting for these two to have a HEA but here's the thing, its okay to like a messy situation such as this and not want that to be something someone ever experiences in real life.
Seraphina finds her voice in book 2 but it takes her a bit of time. Damien turns out to be a big old romantic with a kink for inflicting pain. They literally go through hell and back and then back again. Like I said, there's nothing sweet and soft but it was a good time.
Devil Kept is the dark captive romance sequel to Devil Owned. Seraphina and Damien get their Stockholm version of a HEA after a very challenging reunion where both greatly distrust the others intentions.
Seraphina and Damien both grow as characters as Seraphina learns to vocalize her needs and Damien attempts to be better towards her in his own twisted way. It is (and will continue to be) a struggle for him to not be so controlling and overbearing towards Seraphina.
This is a great way to end the duet.

Book 2 of the Devil Duet. For maximum enjoyment read the books in order.
'A dark revenge romance featuring a morally grey alpha anti-hero, a broken mute FMC, revenge, a mafia-adjacent underworld, age gap and power imbalance.'
The characters were very complex and complicated and compelling and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a satisfying conclusion to the duet. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

★ ”I do own you, silly girl. And I’m going to keep you.” ★
Almost everything that could go majorly wrong does for Seraphina as the Angel rivals strike out, leaving her in situations befitting a casualty of their war against the Devils. But Damien is not going to rest until all who hurt her is avenged…and she is back at his side where she belongs. This is a quick-paced, suspense-filled installment as the Devils give it their all to root out the snakes in their nest. An page-turning, hard-won, and very satisfying HEA for Damien and Seraphina 💖
💝🫶🏼 Please mind your triggers before diving in 🫶🏼💝
Okay, I loved the first book and I LOVEEE this one even more! It gave me all the closure I needed after I was going crazy having finished the first one. When A.V. Blackmoor popped up in my email after my first review I screamed out of happiness at the opportunity to read the second one. Damien and Seraphina are my favorite. I don't read a lot of the Dom/Sub books, but gooddddddd this was amazing and so very VERY spicy 1 mean like I love the Prey/Predator trope going on here it's always been my favorite! And Damien is not the person you can run away from, it's proven multiple times
Book two in the Devil Duet starts right from the gate after book one after lies and the Angels have separated them. She’s on the run and he’s on a hunt to bring her back! The pacing is intense and keeps you riveted to the pages to see where the story takes Damien and Seraphina. The second book is even better than the first, and that’s saying something about Blackmoor’s writing style. So looking forward to Monster’s Prey in April!.

What an amazing end to this duet. The ride was crazy but so incredible.
I am going to keep this review short to avoid spoilers, BUT, it is dark so check your triggers for sure.
The character growth throughout this series has been phenomenal. Damien becomes a little more forgiving, Seraphina gets stronger. But don't worry, the schminky spice continues and gets even better.
If you like dark, suspenseful romance, this is for you!
I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect conclusion to the duet. The character growth—especially for the heroine—was incredible to watch. The story was so action-packed that it felt like watching a fast-paced movie. I also loved the banter between the hero and his friends; it added such a fun dynamic to the story. Highly recommend!.

Every other page the MFC beats her in some way slaps her vagina. Beats her with a belt a switch on her hands and nipples. if you don't want to read a book where the MMC says, actual quote from the book I will beat the f****** s*** out of you do you hear me. The MFC allows because she's been mistreated her whole life and doesn't know any better. Multiply the trigger warnings by 100 and stay away from this one!
A wild roller coaster of events for Damien and Seraphina! (Seriously, will she ever know peace!? Guess you have to read to find out!) Seraphina’s journey of personal growth and strength was a highlight for me in this story, and even though Damien drove me crazy with the ways he expressed his love for Seraphina, I feel like they complement each other in personality and spicy preferences. Overall a very entertaining read!
So very happy with the ending! Damien is really a tough mmc to like but he grew on me. Seraphina is an amazing fmc and I love her neediness for Damien’s protection as much as her grit to manage on her own. It’s so hard heading up a criminal enterprise and keeping people around you can trust and this book really shows that struggle. Can’t wait to read more from this author
