Oliver was the Vanguard keeping watch over his family’s mountain. Avery was looking for a home ever since she was a young girl after being passed around from place to from in the system. Now was her chance since she inherited a little home on the mountain. Even though it was falling apart and she was trying to do all the work on her own until Oliver showed up rescuing her from an incoming storm.
Watching Avery break down Oliver’s walls helped make this book a page turner. This was one of those city-girl and mountain man finding true love. Since this was the first book in the AHMC I cannot wait for more to come.
She was lost in the snow. He was the storm that found her.
Avery thinks the remote mountain cabin she inherited will be her fresh start. Instead, it puts her on the radar of Oliver, a scarred ex-soldier turned enforcer with a dangerous past and a rigid code. When he finds her freezing and hurt, he doesn’t just carry her inside his cabin. He brings her into his world of rules, firelight, and a kind of protection that feels a lot like possession.
Trapped together by the blizzard, the connection between them ignites fast and hits deep. Oliver doesn’t do soft. He does steel, silence, and complete control. But Avery isn’t scared of his scars. She sees the man beneath the armor and doesn’t flinch. And when he realizes she’s not just passing through, everything changes.
As danger creeps closer and the snow begins to melt, the fight to protect each other turns into something permanent. Something earned. And it’s worth every risk.
Avery grows from a runaway heart looking for freedom into a woman who stands her ground and builds something real. Oliver transforms from a silent weapon into a partner who protects not just with force, but with fierce devotion. Together, they rewrite what it means to feel safe, wanted, and home.
A steamy, instalove, opposites attract, snowed in, one bed, mountain man, motorcycle club romance packed with heat, tension, and emotional grit. It explores survival, belonging, trauma, healing, identity, intimacy, trust, protection, and redemption. It’s about claiming and being claimed, choosing love after loss, and building something unshakable in a world that once left them behind.
The Elevator Pitch: A snowed-in, high-heat romance where a scarred ex-soldier rescues a stranded woman and refuses to let her go. Their connection is instant, intense, and rooted in survival, trust, and the need to belong. Packed with emotional depth, protective obsession, and raw intimacy, their story hits hard and holds tight.
Claimed by the Outlaw by Rica Lane is a raw, possessive mountain romance that grips you by the throat and never pretends to be gentle—and that’s exactly why it works.
Avery isn’t chasing adventure or romance when she ends up on the ridge. She’s clinging to the only thing that’s ever truly been hers: a dilapidated cabin left behind by a long-lost uncle. After bouncing through the foster system her entire life, this small, forgotten piece of land represents freedom, stability, and belonging. Even as the cold sinks into her bones and hypothermia threatens, she refuses to walk away. This cabin is hers—and she will not give it up.
That’s when Gunnar finds her.
Scarred, battle-hardened, and living by brutal survival instincts, Gunnar is the wolf of the ridge—a former soldier turned outlaw protector who doesn’t hesitate when he sees a woman freezing on his land. He saves Avery from the storm, carries her to his bed, and makes his intentions painfully clear: she’s under his protection now, whether she agrees or not.
The forced proximity is immediate and intense—one cabin, one bed, and a blizzard that seals their fate. Gunnar doesn’t soften or negotiate. He fortifies the cabin with jagged defenses, marks Avery so his brothers know she’s claimed, and draws an unbreakable line around what’s his. His possessiveness is feral, unapologetic, and deeply rooted in the instinct to protect what he nearly lost to the cold.
What elevates this story is Avery’s resilience. She isn’t weak or passive—she’s stubborn, scarred by a lifetime of instability, and determined to hold onto the first real sense of ownership she’s ever had. Gunnar doesn’t take that strength away—he matches it with devotion so absolute it borders on terrifying. To the world, he’s relentless and dangerous. To Avery, he becomes a monster of a different kind—the one who would burn the world down to keep her safe.
Claimed by the Outlaw leans fully into its promises: alpha intensity, forced proximity, deadly protection, rugged mountain survival, and scorching heat with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. It’s primal, possessive, and emotionally grounded in the desperate need to belong.
If you love snowbound romances with outlaw heroes, feral devotion, and heroines who refuse to let go of the only home they’ve ever had, this book will absolutely own you.

When Avery inherits a remote mountain cabin from her biological uncle, a man she has never even met, she is hoping for a fresh start. A refuge. A place to breathe. What she gets instead is less cozy cabin and more barely-standing shack, held together by equal parts rot, rust, and divine intervention. Still, it is quiet, isolated, and all hers. That illusion of safety lasts right up until everything starts falling apart. As a storm rolls in over the mountains, Avery is outside fighting a losing battle to shore up her porch using a pile of retro tools she barely recognizes, let alone knows how to use. Hours of effort get her nowhere. Then, out of the forest, emerges the largest man she has ever seen. Three strikes. That is all it takes for him to fix what she has been struggling with all evening. Oliver. Oliver Gunnar. He doesn’t say much, but he knows exactly what needs to be done, and he’s not about to leave Avery alone on that mountain to freeze. She’s heard of him. The Vanguard. Always watching. Always guarding. And yet, Avery is not afraid. Not of his size. Not of his scars. When she twists her ankle and he lifts her into his arms, she doesn’t flinch or pull away. I adored how he calls her Little Bird, like she is something fragile and precious, something worth protecting. Small and soft. But Avery has grit. She’s determined to learn how to survive on the mountain, and Oliver is the perfect man to teach her. Assuming he can keep his hands to himself, which is clearly becoming a problem. The tension between them is delicious. He is hanging on by a thread, and Avery wants him to snap. Once he does, there’s no going back. I loved how perfectly they fit together despite being complete opposites. He is hard, she is soft. He is huge, she is small. She is innocent, and he is … not. With a dash of Angel’s Hell MC drama adding extra tension, this is a fantastic start to what promises to be a fun, addictive new series. Claimed by the Outlaw is one of those novellas you tell yourself you’ll read “just a few pages” of… and then suddenly it’s over and you’re staring at the screen wanting more. Rica Lane wastes zero time dropping Avery and Oliver into chaos, and the intensity never lets up.
Avery starts out completely out of her element—a city girl chasing independence who ends up stranded in a blizzard—and that contrast works so well against Oliver’s rough, battle-hardened presence. He’s blunt, scarred, and unapologetically possessive, but there’s a clear line between danger and devotion. Once he decides Avery is his, everything he does revolves around keeping her safe, even when his methods are a little feral.
The forced proximity is done right: one cabin, one bed, bad weather, and no escape from the pull between them. Oliver’s protective instincts and MC edge give the story that gritty, outlaw vibe, while Avery’s reactions feel surprisingly grounded for such an over-the-top setup. Their connection burns fast, but it doesn’t feel careless—more like two people colliding at exactly the wrong (or right) moment.
This is a short, high-heat read with no filler, no unnecessary drama, and a very clear happily-ever-after. If you enjoy intense mountain men, obsessive protectors, and quick, satisfying instalove with MC flair, this is an easy one-click. Perfect for when you want something fast, fiery, and impossible to put down.

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job of representing the demons that Oliver faces. Expect danger, possession, finding your soul and some emotional dark moments. There is a lot packed into this short read. Oliver is the Vanguard of the mountains and of the Hell’s Angels MC. He is former military and his ghosts still haunt him. His job is to protect and stand guard. When he finds his little neighbor Avery trying to fix her rotting porch in the freezing rain his protective and possessive instincts kick in. He never meant to claim her only serve as a temporary shelter through the storm. Avery is finally claiming a place as her own. She has grown up in the foster care system and a biological uncle she never knew left her a cabin. Well a shack is more like it. But Avery is determined and stubborn. What others see as a rotting corpse of a cabin she sees a home. When her brooding, dangerous neighbor demands that she come to his cabin to ride out the storm she is not sure what to expect. She knows Oliver is dangerous but she knows he would never hurt her. She never expected to feel like he was the first place she felt like she belonged and was safe. What happens when Oliver realizes that he needs to protect Avery for the most dangerous person he knows——himself? Such an enjoyable emotional read.

This mountain man romance is a bit of a mixed bag—interesting in parts, but also quite strange and not always easy to enjoy. The setup itself is promising: a woman inherits a failing cabin, only to find that a man already lives there. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t fully work for me. Additionally I didn’t feel any biker vibes. Romance-wise, everything moves very fast, and much of it feels more like telling than showing. The connection between the characters doesn’t really get the time or depth it would need to feel genuine or emotionally convincing. On top of that, there are small inconsistencies that pull you out of the story—for example, moments where the heroine tells him her name and shortly afterward wonders whether she ever did. The age gap is also significant—he seems to be roughly twice her age—and combined with his very possessive behavior from the very beginning, it made it difficult for me to connect with the couple. His actions often come across as more weird than romantic, and the relationship never really felt like it evolved naturally. Overall, the book does its job on a very basic level, but for me, it was hard to emotionally invest in the characters or their romance. It’s an okay read if you’re very into mountain man tropes and don’t mind rushed pacing, large age gaps, and possessive dynamics—but it wasn’t a standout for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Protective, tortured, and utterly consuming
Claimed by the Outlaw hits hard with a wounded alpha who protects first and questions his worth last. Oliver is the kind of protector who would die without hesitation—but believes, deep down, that he doesn’t deserve happiness, let alone Avery. That internal battle makes him even more compelling.
From the moment he saves her in the blizzard, Oliver’s instincts lock in: protect, shelter, defend. But instead of immediately claiming joy, he pushes her away, convinced his scars, his past, and his violence make him unworthy of her softness. That tension—wanting her while denying himself—is what gives this story real emotional weight beneath all the heat.
Avery isn’t weak or naive; she chooses him. She sees the man behind the growls and understands that his distance isn’t rejection—it’s fear. And when Oliver finally accepts that protecting her also means letting himself be loved? It’s incredibly satisfying.
The primal MC energy, forced proximity, and blizzard setting crank up the intensity, but it’s Oliver’s devotion that seals it. He doesn’t just guard her body—he guards her peace, her future, her right to feel safe.
Short, spicy, and emotionally charged. If you love a broken protector who would burn the world for the woman he thinks he doesn’t deserve, this one is a must-read. 🖤🔥.

Claimed By The Outlaw by Rica Lane is the first title I've read by this author and I wasn't disappointed. As a biker, mountain man, forced proximity romance it had me hooked from the start with it's plot and storyline and engaging characters Oliver and Avery. Oliver, an ex military biker mountain man, suffering horrors from his past service, lives alone on the mountain needing control and quiet but comes across his new neighbour Avery who has just claimed her inheritance of a run down cabin. A fierce snowstorm brings Oliver to Avery's cabin and he is captivated by her but with the dangerous weather coming in his protectiveness and possessiveness kicks in, he needs to keeps her safe and takes her back to his cabin. The forced proximity of the one bed cabin and bad weather allows the mutual attraction and connection to simmer leading to some high heat spicy scenes. Overall the story was well paced although at times I was a little confused with the order of events or span of time, but with the sizzling chemistry of Oliver and Avery and their journey to the HEA, it was still a great read.

How did this book get such high ratings? Honestly it was just ridiculous and it kept repeating itself over and over. When he gives her the keys the 1st time they both clearly state she’s going to stay with him. Then at least 2 more times he offers her the keys again for her to decide AGAIN. Also in the beginning of the book-what the heck was it with her fixing the cabinet in “her” house with the tools when they were clearly snowed in w/3 feet of snow at his house. Then the 2 guys at her house…..and the voice on the walkie that wasn’t his MC guys. Why was those 2 scenes in there? The scene in the workshop when he’s making stuff for her “home” which is clearly her cabin that they had already decided wasn’t her “home”
Honestly it was just confusing and ridiculous. Thank god it was a short book-if it had been a full length novel and the story kept going like that It would have been a hard DNF for me. But since this one was so short I pushed thru and finished it. Clearly I will not be putting in any effort to read the rest of the series.
I gave it 2⭐️’s because I did finish it so I can’t justify a 1⭐️ if I finish a book.
Claimed by the Outlaw is a quick, spicy MC romance that delivers exactly what it promises—gritty biker energy, strong grumpy-sunshine contrast, and intense primal attraction packed into a short, binge-able read.
The outlaw hero is rough, dominant, and unapologetically grumpy, while the heroine’s warmth and optimism create a fun and fiery contrast. Their chemistry is immediate, and the primal dynamic is front and center, making the story feel bold and high-heat without losing clarity or focus. For a shorter romance, the emotional beats land well and the connection feels intentional rather than rushed.
The MC setting adds edge and atmosphere, and the pacing keeps things moving quickly while still allowing space for tension and payoff. This book knows its audience and leans confidently into its tropes.
I’d recommend Claimed by the Outlaw to readers who enjoy spicy short romances, MC settings, grumpy-sunshine dynamics, and primal energy with a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

Little Bird & Oliver Avery Nolan starts out the story as an orphan who has inherited a cabin in the mountains. Actually it's more like a lean too shack. It's barely standing as she tries to use ancient, rusty tools she finds. She's freezing but won't give up. It's the first place she's ever owned. Oliver Gunnar is a Vanguard in the motorcycle club and refused to let her freeze to death. He's a mountain of a man and can see her lips are turning blue. So off to his cabin, his fortress, his sanctuary they go. He's not happy about it but he won't let her freeze to death. I loved that at times he called her, Little Bird. That is when he wasn't being gruff with her. Avery doesn't take long before she isn't afraid of the man, that everyone else fears ! There is another danger developing on the mountain and Gunner and the whole Motorcycle Club will not stand for it. He's not the Prez but he is the enforcer for the club. Avery ad Oliver get their HEA but there will be more stories about this Club and the danger that is trying to be included on THEIR mountain !
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a fantastic short read that pulled me in right away and kept me entertained the entire time. The dynamic between the alpha male lead and the strong, independent female was one of my favorite parts of the story. Their chemistry felt natural and exciting, and I loved how their personalities balanced each other so well.
Even though it was a quick read, the author did a great job developing both characters and making their relationship feel meaningful. The pacing was perfect — fast enough to keep things moving, but still giving you time to connect with the characters and enjoy their journey.
Overall, this was such a fun and satisfying story. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves an alpha male/independent female pairing and wants something engaging that they can finish in one sitting.

This was a good OTT mountain man/MC crossover… The FMC Avery is fierce, independent, stubborn and absolutely determined to carve out something that is HERS. The MMC Oliver (The Vanguard) has a lot of ghosts….and quickly decides that Avery is his to protect, just like the rest of the mountain. My only real complaint about this book is I felt like they went back and forth to much…they’re together and he’ll never let her go then the next day he’s pushing her away…lots of fierce declarations, then backtracking. I get that this is part of the tension of the story, I just get frustrated with it sometimes. Having said that, it was enjoyable to read. I love the found family, the fierceness with which they love, the story itself was interesting with lead ups for following stories, although this couple gets their HEA. The steamy parts were great!.

A short steamy read that keeps you turning page after page. Avery spent her life in the foster care system —never having a room of her own or a key to her home. When an unknown uncle to her leaves her his cabin in the mountains, she determined to finally have something that is totally her very own. The cabin turns out to be more of a shack that’s ready to fall down. It’s raining, windy and she’s trying to keep the porch from falling when Oliver discovers her. Temperatures have dropped and a big storm is on its way. She’s soaked through, her lips are blue and Oliver demands she grab a few things and spend the night at his cabin. Oliver likes his solitude, but he’s also a protector. The Gunnar’s guard the mountain and protect the community. As feelings develop, the storm rages on. Good storyline and believable characters.

The pacing on this was really strange. They lay down to go to back to sleep right after having breakfast and then suddenly they’re waking up the next day. It was really hard to keep track of the timing. It was seemingly like only three days? But then so much would happen that it feels like it must have been a week, or a day would be over despite it having just started. I’m also really not a fan of the phrasing of her hands tangling in his beard? What does that even mean? Other than those issues, though, I thought that this was cute. I’m not huge on instalove, and I’m asexual so I’m not in it for the porn, but I still enjoyed it. I kept saying I was going to stop reading and go to bed but instead I read the whole thing in one night. I liked the FMC a lot. I liked that she wasn’t helpless and she was independent. All in all, pretty good! A fun short read if you can turn your brain off a bit.

Avery is trying to fix a rotted banister in the freezing rain. Fingers and Lips blue she's determined to make this crazy wooden Shack hold still. Then the six foot seven giant of a man comes through and stabilizes the railing and her. There's a lot going on in this book between Avery and Oliver. He comes from a big family and MC that doesn't give up it doesn't surrender to those who want to be villains. But somehow Avery has gotten under his skin and on his Mountain and keep playing to keep her safe and make sure that everybody knows that she is claimed and protected. Some light action in the story a lot of snow and a lot of getting to know each other and understanding how Oliver became the man he is. The question is will Avery accept who he is as the storm outside gets worse and meaner as the wind in the snow comes barreling from the sky. Oliver may be one of the most protective book boyfriends yet!.

This was such a comfort read in the best way. Snow, a broken cabin, a gruff mountain man, and a woman just trying to finally have something that’s hers? I was in immediately.
Avery broke my heart a little. She’s spent her whole life being passed around and this cabin feels like her last shot at a home, even if it’s falling apart. Oliver is exactly what you expect and still somehow better. Quiet, intense, protective to a slightly unhinged degree, but it works. Watching him slowly let Avery past his walls was honestly my favorite part. The grumpy sunshine trope is my favorite!
The forced proximity and snowed-in vibes were perfect, the connection builds fast but feels earned, and the whole story just hits that “finding safety and belonging” itch. It’s one of those city girl meets mountain man romances that just works. Loved it!.

This short romance was an incredibly satisfying read, managing to pack a significant emotional punch despite its concise length. I was thoroughly captivated by the development of the characters and the dynamic interactions between them, which felt genuine and compelling from the very first page to the final chapter. The undeniable chemistry between the characters was truly palpable, creating a magnetic pull that kept me completely engrossed in their story. From beginning to end, the narrative maintained a captivating hold on me, leaving me eager to discover what would happen next. The author truly excelled in crafting memorable characters that resonated deeply, and in weaving together a thrilling yet heartwarming reading experience that I will remember for a long time.

This was a fantastic, fast-paced read that packs a massive emotional punch. Oliver is the ultimate "haunted protector"—a former military member who is now a member of The Broken Halos MC who is battling some serious internal demons. When he finds his stubborn neighbor, Avery, trying to fix her dilapidated cabin in a freezing storm, his possessive instincts take over.
I loved the contrast between Avery’s determination to build a home from nothing and Oliver’s struggle to realize he’s the safe haven she’s been looking for. It’s a beautiful "touch her and die" vibe mixed with deep soul-searching. If you love brooding MC heroes, forced proximity, and stories about finding where you belong, don’t skip this one!
While this is a short read it still packs plenty of action and emotion into it
I loved this book and the characters of Avery and Oliver. Avery was raised in the foster system and never felt she had a place to call hers. When she inherits a remote mountain cabin, it’s a place to call hers and become home. One problem is a run down, broken cabin. That is when Oliver find her and from that moment he new she need a strong , safe home and that is his. Oliver served in the military and oh yes he comes across as grumpy, but he needs safety, peace and now love. Oh these are made for each other , her gentleness, his protective instincts and most importantly his knowing when to give Avery space. Oh the spice, the chemistry, let’s not forget the MC family and drama. All makes this a wonderful read.

MC romance. Avery is a young woman who grew up in the system. But she struggles to settle down after inheriting a cabin high in the mountains from an uncle she never knew. When she arrives, she finds a dilapidated cabin and a biker who rules the mountain. However, when a storm hits, he's there to protect her. Oliver is a member of an MC living in seclusion on the mountain. When Avery arrives, she disturbs his peace, but he can't help feeling drawn to her. When danger begins to arrive on his land, he's there to protect her. Will Avery and Oliver have a beautiful story, or will the dangers on the mountain prove greater than they are..

A quick, steamy, spicy novella where the Olier finds himself drawn immediately to Avery. He finds he wants to protect her; he may say it's because of the incoming storm, but he knows that is a lie.
Avery has had to look out for herself since she was young, bouncing around the care system. She has a chance of having something that is hers, and hers alone, even if the cabin is falling around her ears.
Both find the attraction flares immediately, and the best way to keep warm when it's cold outside is skin-to-skin contact! Avery makes Oliver drop his walls, allows her in, but once she is in his fortress, she is there forever.

This is Book 1 of the Angel's Hell Motorcycle Club series. And a FANrastic start it is!
'He’s a scarred ex-soldier. I’m the city girl he found freezing in the mountain. He carried me to his bed, and told me he’s never letting go.'
The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and possessive and steamy together. Plot was well written and straightforward. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great start to the series and I look forward to more. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Wow, just Wow....Oliver and Avery met on a very cold wet night on the side of a mountain. She was trying to keep her cabin standing he just wanted to make sure she safe and still alive in the morning. But one look at her and all he could think was ... mine!
This book had me enthralled. From the first page, I was hooked. You could feel the tension leaping from the page. And you got two genres in one. You get a mountain man who's part of a M.C. I loved this story so much, I read twice. It's amazing.
Rica, you really know how to write a good story.

Oliver finds Avery struggling to keep her cabin safe and refuses to let her stay and endanger herself in the storm. He’s drawn to her but believes the ghosts of his past will ruin any chance they have together. He’s all protective alpha with a soft spot for her since she makes him feel alive I. Ways he didn’t believe he could. Avery finds her home with Oliver despite his gruffness he’s a man who shows his care with acts of service rather than pretty words. It’s sweet with an underlying danger lurking in their world but we get a HEA that’s perfectly them and it’s beautiful.

The easy to read love story about Oliver and Avery
This is book one in this MC series. It is not like the regular MC story this storyline focuses mostly on the main characters Oliver Gunner (the Vanguard -enforcer) and Avery. Oliver’s job is to watch and protect the MC property which includes people and property. Oliver sees Avery struggling with her newly inherited shack on his mountain. Avery’s uncle gave it to her but he did not keep it up. Oliver saves the day and helps Avery in the nick of time before a snowstorm. There is a happy ending to this easy and quick story. Read On!
Look idk if it was meant to be funny or not but the damn key thing sent me a few times cuz it would come out after a moment of intimacy and like you know sounds like they have an understanding that they choose each other but then the damn key would come out of nowhere and I was like wtf 🤣 didn't she get both keys already? Is he snatching them over and over? it was cute but my husband had to deal with my wheezing ass after I lost it the 3rd time the key comes up. do u want her or no. NGL if it was me I'd be rethinking him if he kept doing this to me. 🙃 "The snow is melting" I swear Id skied my ass back to my cabin because the cringe would've killed me if my man said that to ☠️✌️

Avery and Oliver’s story is a sweet start to what I hope will be a great MC Series. He’s the Vanguard, broken in many ways, we get a small glimpse into his past and what made him. Avery was in the foster care system, she’s looking for a place to call home, the ramshackle cabin that Oliver finds her at in the blizzard feels like her only chance at a place to call “mine”. Rica Lane gives us a slight look into what their lives could be like and I can’t wait to read more about them and the other Gunners. 4✨’s for a sweet and hot read.
