I had a bit of trouble getting into this story although I'm not really sure why but as I really liked the first story in the series I kept going. I'm so glad I persevered with it though as I really started enjoying it a little way in and by the middle of the book was loving it and having a hard time putting it down to get chores done.
This is a funny, witty book with lots of twists and turns and a fabulous supporting cast for the MCs. I'm hoping Jack's story will be next as he is a total hoot! I laughed and cried and laughed again and I know I'll be rereading this lovely story.
There are quite a few reviews with synopsis of the book already so I'll just end by saying that this book is highly recommended to anyone that likes a bit of kink to their contemporary romance. Kink with a great story line I might add!!

Questo mese avevo qualche lettura da recuperare, per questo appena mi sono liberata non potevo non leggere il nuovo capitolo della meravigliosa "Secretary series" di Melanie Marchande. Vi parlo quindi di "Tutto solo per amore", edito Newton Compton.
Lissy è una scrittrice affermata. Se la sua carriera lavorativa è ben avviata, quella amorosa è leggermente incasinata. A causa di una piccola bugia detta per vendere il proprio libro, la sua famiglia ora vuole conoscere questo uomo fantastico di cui scrive. E così è costretta a chiedere al suo ex fedifrago Dean di aiutarla e di trasferirsi da lei fino a quando i suoi non saranno ripartiti. Nel frattempo ha iniziato a chattare con un uomo, M, famoso per le sue recensioni negative sulle autrici, tra cui anche lei. Se da principio era iniziata come un chiarimento, la loro relazione si è evoluta anche sul piano sessuale. Lissy, così, si ritrova per casa un uomo che ha amato tanto ma che l'ha fatta soffrire e sulla chat un uomo che non conosce ma che riesce a farla arrossire con la sua sfacciataggine. Riuscirà Lissy a sopportare la presenza di Dean per la sua famiglia? Riuscirà a resistere dallo scoprire chi si nasconde dietro M?
Come sempre la Marchande non delude. Anche questa volta mi ha trascinato nella storia senza problemi.
Lissy in passato è stata tradita, quindi quando scopre che Dean ha un'amica di cui non le ha parlato, il suo istinto le dice di chiudere questa relazione. Non importa quando Dean si prodighi nelle spiegazioni, ha paura di soffrire di nuovo e non crede a questa amicizia segreta. Mi ha fatto molta tenerezza questa donna, è la dimostrazione che un uomo superficiale può danneggiarci a tal punto da non credere più nella sincerità. Lissy non ha prove che Dean l'abbia tradita, ma si affida al suo istinto di sopravvivenza. E pur di non soffrire lo lascia.
Dean, dopo essere stato lasciato, stranamente torna a "casa" per aiutare Lissy con la sua famiglia. Se la protagonista lo vede come un modo per scusarsi, io l'ho visto come un uomo innamorato che farebbe di tutto per lei. Non è un uomo perfetto perché mentire non ha alcuna scusante. Un rapporto chiaro e pulito è ciò che ne determina la durata. In più nella loro relazione era spesso assente per lavoro e l'abitudine aveva preso il posto della passione. Queste consapevolezze le scopriremo pian piano leggendo i loro pensieri.
M. è un uomo anonimo che recensisce romanzi con una spietata punta di sarcasmo, che sembra il valore aggiunto che lo porta al successo online. Proprio a causa di una recensione negativa, lui e Lissy iniziano a parlare fino a quando il loro rapporto non si approfondisce. Non si sono mai visti, hanno solo chattato, ma la sua presenza riesce a rassicurare la protagonista, anche se per la maggior parte i loro messaggi si basano sulla sfera sessuale.
All'interno del libro avremo modo di leggere sia i pensieri di Lissy che di Dean, in modo da conoscere il loro passato e il loro presente a tutto tondo. Una pecca purtroppo c'è, anche questo libro è troppo breve. Non capisco perché un'autrice di questo calibro, con capacità del genere, debba limitarsi nello scrivere. Avrebbe potuto approfondire molte faccende ma sembra come se volesse regalarci pillole di emozioni senza dilungarsi troppo. Questo non va a influenzare il suo genio. Quando una scrittrice è brava lo si nota leggendo anche un solo capitolo. Vi lascio con il consiglio di leggerlo e con la speranza che la Marchande decida di darci di più. Buona lettura.

Felicity is an author, writing under a pen name. She becomes so successful and is asked to do an interview. Her book is allegedly "based on a true story." Her family gets a wind of this, and that's when things become interesting. They want to meet her love interest who inspired the story.
However, they don't know that she broke up with her boyfriend, Dean a while back. She has no choice but to ask him to step back into her life in a ruse to appease her family's growing curiosity and excitement over her success as an author.
Felicity has a secret, though. She's been very naughty! Secretly, she is sexting with a blogger who has given her book horrid reviews. Meet M.
Caught between her fascination with M, a dominant who has opened the door to her inner submissive, and her lingering doubts about her relationship with Dean, she is definitely in for a ride!
The bones: I really connected with Felicity because I felt that many of the thoughts she had were things I have thought myself, once upon a time. However, I did not expect to get sucked into her secret double life with her. I enjoyed her texts with M as much as I enjoyed getting to know Dean. Boy was I torn!

WOW! another great hit from Melanie Marchande! This woman really knows how to keep your eyes glued to the words. Her stories draw you in, making you feel like you're reading your own story from the outside. This is a stand alone book that follows in her continuing series of billionaires, and even has cameo appearances of past characters.
Felicity, better known as Lissy is a romance writer, writing under a pen name Lana, who has trust issues. She's in a slump, and decides to write a "based on a true story" book, while at the movies with her best friend Jack when he makes an off the wall crack that that's what's selling now. Even though he was joking, she grabs the idea and runs with it. Once published, it becomes a hit, and her parents decided to visit for a couple of weeks. Because they believe the book to be based on her relationship with her own boyfriend, she needs to find one. Jack refuses, so that leaves her with the option of calling on her ex Dean, to fill the spot. He "temporarily" moves back in with her to portray the loving boyfriend for their benefit. This is where the story starts to get real juicy, but I'm not going to tell you any more. You'll have to read it to find out how it goes. And believe me, you won't be disappointed. Once you pick it up and start reading, you won't want to put it down.

I really enjoyed reading this. While we got a tiny taste of Adrian and Meg (both of whom I love), this story is centered around Felicity, her bumbling into the world of romance novel publishing and how she reacts (mostly badly). We get to see how she struggles to deal with the industry, the way people treat authors and how choices we make affect our lives.
I enjoyed the sexting component of the story -- it made for an interesting contrast to Felicity's everyday life. Not to give anything away, I was glad to see how the story arrived at an HEA. I have to admit I wasn't entirely expecting the result until close to the end and I wasn't sure I'd be happy with the resolution but in the end I was pleasantly surprised.
If you are looking for a book that makes you think about all the relationships in your life and let's you laugh about them too, this is the book for you.

Sexy and Funny! Lissy and Dean were a couple for years, when she sees him with another woman she breaks up with him. After writing a successful book, her parents come to visit her and Dean. Since she has never told her parents about the break up she talks Dean into moving in with her for the duration of the visit. While Lissy is sexting a snarky book reviewer, Dean is having secret meetings with her parents and letting her mother talk him into a surprise proposal. Dean has learned a lot about Lissy from reading her book soon finds a way to show her just how much. I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who likes a laugh out loud funny romance.

Oramai ho perso il conto di tutti i libri di questa serie che ho letto, ma una cosa è certa: ogni storia è indimenticabile, così come le sensazioni che mi regala ogni pagina e la leggerezza che mi dà leggere ogni parola. Stavolta non è stato da meno, anzi, forse la temperatura si è decisamente alzata più del solito.
Protagonista di questa novella è Felicity Warden, una scrittrice di romanzi rosa che ha deciso di ributtarsi nel mondo dell'editoria dopo una dolorosa rottura amorosa. Ognuno va avanti a modo proprio, ma questo per lei sarà l'inizio di tutto.

Forse il vero segreto di un bravo autore è quello di stravolgere ciò che è noto tenendo sempre teso il filo che fa muovere le emozioni, tutte quante anche antipatia e delusione.
Oggi vi racconto di un romanzo che prima era una delusione e dopo è diventato uno dei più belli che io abbia letto di recente. Ero io a non essere sulla sua lunghezza d’onda, oppure la Marchande se la ride di gusto sussurrando “ti ho fregata Min!”
Quando l’ho iniziato la prima volta, dopo pochi capitoli mi sono scoraggiata. Non era quello che mi aspettavo, mi sembrava una minestra riscaldata e, dopo averlo aspettato tanto ero più propensa a scrivere due paroline all’autrice stessa piuttosto che mettere nero su bianco una recensione al suo libro. Fortunatamente esistono le seconde possibilità, anche le terze come suggerisce l’autrice in questo libro sorprendente che, mea culpa, ha dovuto aspettare aperto a 1/4 sul mio Kindle finché mi decidessi a ricominciare a leggerlo. Eh sì, ho fatto proprio così, l’ho abbandonato frustrata e poi ho ricominciato dal principio, facendo tabula rasa di tutto quello che avevo letto di lei e dell’intera Secretary Series dando finalmente a questa storia la possibilità di raccontarsi, incantarmi e regalarmi tante emozioni. Alcune piacevoli, altre fonte di elucubrazioni e similitudini con la vita reale, ma infondo cosa chiediamo ad un buon libro? Di sorprenderci, emozionarci e portarci in luoghi che non avremmo mai pensato di esplorare.
Questo ultimo libro è uscito il 18 febbraio, lo stile inconfondibile della Marchande non delude con la sua scrittura fluida e l’ironia sottile e a tratti irriverente, il sarcasmo pungente nei dialoghi tra i personaggi, sapientemente alternato a dichiarazioni d’amore così adorabili nella loro semplice franchezza, da far arricciare le dita dei piedi (cosa che faccio solo nei momenti davvero speciali). Adoro questa sua capacità di catturare il lettore nel turbinio della vita dei suoi personaggi, mi piace che anche coloro che non sono i protagonisti abbiano un loro attimo di gloria e rileggerei all’infinito tutte le seconde dichiarazioni d’amore dei suoi libri perché regolarmente, le scrive come da manuale per poi regalarci la versione vera e spontanea più avanti, quando la coppia è in intimità e noi ci sentiamo i fortunati che possono assistere al momento magico, quello che negli anni, ricordi e tiri fuori per scaldarti il cuore.
La trama viene anticipata nella sinossi ed inizialmente sembra ridursi esattamente a quei pochi concetti. Nei primi capitoli ci ritroviamo l’ennesima autrice, Felicity Warden “Lissy”, che ovviamente è nei guai per aver ingannato il suo pubblico con un espediente per raggiungere la fama. La notorietà arriva e chiaramente seguono gli inviti a presenziare a serate a tema e presentazioni del libro e qui arriva il problema. Sì, perché la nostra protagonista, questa volta, ha aggiunto un particolare alla sua storia che ovviamente non vi svelerò, che rende tutta la situazione complessa per usare un eufemismo. Lissy convive con Dean che però è il suo ex fidanzato, lasciato dopo cinque anni d’amore perché lui la tradiva. Adesso però i due convivono di nuovo, seppure solo apparentemente fidanzati, perché il pubblico ha riconosciuto in lui, Damien, il dominatore, l’uomo che celebra il sesso tra dominatore e sottomessa riuscendo a vivere una vita per entrambi soddisfacente. Per non smentirsi ed essere scoperta, Lissy gli chiede aiuto e lui accetta. Ma non è finita, infatti mentre lei chatta con uno sconosciuto mister M. che sembra conoscerla nel profondo e scatenare tutti gli ormoni che soggiornano dentro di lei, in salotto c’è Dean che le parla. La vita di Lissy è decisamente diventata meno monotona e più complessa di quanto lei stessa potesse desiderare.
“Perché con M non sono semplicemente Felicity Warden, una fallita dall’aria trasandata e il culo grosso che è inciampata nel successo raccontando un mucchio di bugie. Con M posso essere chiunque voglio.”
Non vi dirò che i primi capitoli sono meravigliosi perché così non è, o meglio, non sembra. Tutto diverrà chiaro molto più avanti, dovrete pazientare. L’elemento più interessante è costituito da un piccolo cameo in cui l’autrice ci regala uno scorcio di vita dei nostri amati Adrian e Meg, presenti ad un ritrovo per autori. Sempre innamorati e uniti e sempre a punzecchiarsi e stuzzicarsi provocando, tra l’altro, una profonda gelosia in Lissy la quale vorrebbe per sé stessa un rapporto d’amore così intenso e passionale invece di un ex che dorme sul divano e finge di essere il Damien del suo libro. Lissy non riesce a non domandarsi cos’abbia che non va, perché la sua devozione viene regolarmente ripagata con il tradimento? Desidererebbe per sé un corpo da invidiare invece si trova a disagio con le sue forme abbondanti che la inibiscono e tende a nascondere il più possibile. Però state tranquille, credetemi, basta arrivare al capitolo cinque per immergersi in tutt’altra storia, intensa e finalmente gustosissima. Tanto per cominciare, in perfetto stile Marchande, anche se un filino in ritardo, arrivano i pensieri di Dean a soverchiare tutto un castello di congetture e giudizi che il lettore non può esimersi dal fare, considerando che sino a questo momento, l’unica voce in campo è stata quella di Lissy eccetto qualche piccolo momento di scambio con il suo amico del cuore Jack che comunque in questa fase del racconto, non ci aiuta moltissimo, semmai conferma i timori e le scelte dell’amica, alleandosi con lei contro Dean-il-traditore.
Ma Dean porta con sé tutto un universo di pensieri e novità che gradualmente ci permettono di conoscerlo e, personalmente, di amarlo tantissimo. Un uomo che ha una solida posizione lavorativa e accetta di dormire sul divano della sua ex per facilitarla nel proseguo della sua menzogna, perché lo fa?
“Avrei fatto qualsiasi cosa per lei”
Parole sue, anzi pensieri suoi, ma ad oggi quali motivi può avere per accettare tutto ciò? E considerate che il pacchetto completo comprende i genitori e i fratelli e le sorelle di Lissy, decisamente una famiglia chiassosa, numerosa e che come un caterpillar procede sulla linea di attacco con in testa il generale mamma Bea con un obiettivo ben chiaro da conseguire.
Non posso raccontarvi molto altro, solo che Dean un motivo valido ce l’ha e una volta scoperto non potrete più fare a meno di amarlo.
In questo romanzo ho trovato passione e amore, odio e gelosia, amicizia e quel tocco di mistero legato alla figura di mister M.
Sia Lissy che Dean cresceranno moltissimo sotto i nostri sguardi attenti, imparando ad esprimere meglio i loro desideri, ascoltarsi e accettare il fatto che la fiducia tra due persone è un elemento fondamentale. Soprattutto in una coppia ma più di tutto, prima di fidarsi di qualcuno e abbandonarsi è necessario amarsi e ri-conoscersi profondamente, in due parole: fidarsi prima di sé stessi per potersi permettere di lasciarsi andare con gli altri.
Mi ha colpita molto la riflessione circa il rapporto che intercorre tra dominatore e sottomesso. A questo proposito si giunge ad una considerazione che non è necessariamente una verità assoluta ma senza dubbio, secondo me, ci si avvicina tanto. Il Dominatore deve conoscersi profondamente e amare e proteggere la sottomessa perché comprende il grande dono che ella gli fa nel momento in cui gli si affida. La sottomessa non è necessariamente una donna debole e inerme, molto più probabilmente è una persona che apparentemente sembra autonoma e distaccata. La sottomessa non è tale perché viene soggiogata ma piuttosto perché sceglie di lasciarsi andare nelle mani esperte del suo amante. Ha bisogno di staccare, di non dover prendere decisioni in quel momento così come il dominatore non necessariamente deve essere una persona acida o crudele, anzi, il suo primo pensiero è il benessere della sua donna e può benissimo essere una persona sensibile con un cuore grande. Il senso di tutto ciò è che in realtà, nessuno di noi può giudicare dall’esterno qualcosa che avviene nell’intimità di due persone. Il pregiudizio, il bisogno di sentirsi riconosciuti per sentirsi vivi è un problema comune a molti. Questo libro è stato una rivelazione. Alla fine ne ho tratto molti spunti di riflessione e mi ha fornito l’occasione perfetta per godere di un piacevole momento di lettura e, contemporaneamente, di lasciarmi sorprendere, imparare e persino ritrovare qua e là dei rimandi a situazioni reali.
Penso proprio che dovreste leggerlo, non vi deluderà.
Oggi vi racconto di un romanzo che prima era una delusione e dopo è diventato uno dei più belli che io abbia letto di recente. Ero io a non essere sulla sua lunghezza d’onda, oppure la Marchande se la ride di gusto sussurrando “ti ho fregata Min!”
Quando l’ho iniziato la prima volta, dopo pochi capitoli mi sono scoraggiata. Non era quello che mi aspettavo, mi sembrava una minestra riscaldata e, dopo averlo aspettato tanto ero più propensa a scrivere due paroline all’autrice stessa piuttosto che mettere nero su bianco una recensione al suo libro. Fortunatamente esistono le seconde possibilità, anche le terze come suggerisce l’autrice in questo libro sorprendente che, mea culpa, ha dovuto aspettare aperto a 1/4 sul mio Kindle finché mi decidessi a ricominciare a leggerlo. Eh sì, ho fatto proprio così, l’ho abbandonato frustrata e poi ho ricominciato dal principio, facendo tabula rasa di tutto quello che avevo letto di lei e dell’intera Secretary Series dando finalmente a questa storia la possibilità di raccontarsi, incantarmi e regalarmi tante emozioni. Alcune piacevoli, altre fonte di elucubrazioni e similitudini con la vita reale, ma infondo cosa chiediamo ad un buon libro? Di sorprenderci, emozionarci e portarci in luoghi che non avremmo mai pensato di esplorare.
Questo ultimo libro è uscito il 18 febbraio, lo stile inconfondibile della Marchande non delude con la sua scrittura fluida e l’ironia sottile e a tratti irriverente, il sarcasmo pungente nei dialoghi tra i personaggi, sapientemente alternato a dichiarazioni d’amore così adorabili nella loro semplice franchezza, da far arricciare le dita dei piedi (cosa che faccio solo nei momenti davvero speciali). Adoro questa sua capacità di catturare il lettore nel turbinio della vita dei suoi personaggi, mi piace che anche coloro che non sono i protagonisti abbiano un loro attimo di gloria e rileggerei all’infinito tutte le seconde dichiarazioni d’amore dei suoi libri perché regolarmente, le scrive come da manuale per poi regalarci la versione vera e spontanea più avanti, quando la coppia è in intimità e noi ci sentiamo i fortunati che possono assistere al momento magico, quello che negli anni, ricordi e tiri fuori per scaldarti il cuore.
La trama viene anticipata nella sinossi ed inizialmente sembra ridursi esattamente a quei pochi concetti. Nei primi capitoli ci ritroviamo l’ennesima autrice, Felicity Warden “Lissy”, che ovviamente è nei guai per aver ingannato il suo pubblico con un espediente per raggiungere la fama. La notorietà arriva e chiaramente seguono gli inviti a presenziare a serate a tema e presentazioni del libro e qui arriva il problema. Sì, perché la nostra protagonista, questa volta, ha aggiunto un particolare alla sua storia che ovviamente non vi svelerò, che rende tutta la situazione complessa per usare un eufemismo. Lissy convive con Dean che però è il suo ex fidanzato, lasciato dopo cinque anni d’amore perché lui la tradiva. Adesso però i due convivono di nuovo, seppure solo apparentemente fidanzati, perché il pubblico ha riconosciuto in lui, Damien, il dominatore, l’uomo che celebra il sesso tra dominatore e sottomessa riuscendo a vivere una vita per entrambi soddisfacente. Per non smentirsi ed essere scoperta, Lissy gli chiede aiuto e lui accetta. Ma non è finita, infatti mentre lei chatta con uno sconosciuto mister M. che sembra conoscerla nel profondo e scatenare tutti gli ormoni che soggiornano dentro di lei, in salotto c’è Dean che le parla. La vita di Lissy è decisamente diventata meno monotona e più complessa di quanto lei stessa potesse desiderare.
“Perché con M non sono semplicemente Felicity Warden, una fallita dall’aria trasandata e il culo grosso che è inciampata nel successo raccontando un mucchio di bugie. Con M posso essere chiunque voglio.”
Non vi dirò che i primi capitoli sono meravigliosi perché così non è, o meglio, non sembra. Tutto diverrà chiaro molto più avanti, dovrete pazientare. L’elemento più interessante è costituito da un piccolo cameo in cui l’autrice ci regala uno scorcio di vita dei nostri amati Adrian e Meg, presenti ad un ritrovo per autori. Sempre innamorati e uniti e sempre a punzecchiarsi e stuzzicarsi provocando, tra l’altro, una profonda gelosia in Lissy la quale vorrebbe per sé stessa un rapporto d’amore così intenso e passionale invece di un ex che dorme sul divano e finge di essere il Damien del suo libro. Lissy non riesce a non domandarsi cos’abbia che non va, perché la sua devozione viene regolarmente ripagata con il tradimento? Desidererebbe per sé un corpo da invidiare invece si trova a disagio con le sue forme abbondanti che la inibiscono e tende a nascondere il più possibile. Però state tranquille, credetemi, basta arrivare al capitolo cinque per immergersi in tutt’altra storia, intensa e finalmente gustosissima. Tanto per cominciare, in perfetto stile Marchande, anche se un filino in ritardo, arrivano i pensieri di Dean a soverchiare tutto un castello di congetture e giudizi che il lettore non può esimersi dal fare, considerando che sino a questo momento, l’unica voce in campo è stata quella di Lissy eccetto qualche piccolo momento di scambio con il suo amico del cuore Jack che comunque in questa fase del racconto, non ci aiuta moltissimo, semmai conferma i timori e le scelte dell’amica, alleandosi con lei contro Dean-il-traditore.
Ma Dean porta con sé tutto un universo di pensieri e novità che gradualmente ci permettono di conoscerlo e, personalmente, di amarlo tantissimo. Un uomo che ha una solida posizione lavorativa e accetta di dormire sul divano della sua ex per facilitarla nel proseguo della sua menzogna, perché lo fa?
“Avrei fatto qualsiasi cosa per lei”
Parole sue, anzi pensieri suoi, ma ad oggi quali motivi può avere per accettare tutto ciò? E considerate che il pacchetto completo comprende i genitori e i fratelli e le sorelle di Lissy, decisamente una famiglia chiassosa, numerosa e che come un caterpillar procede sulla linea di attacco con in testa il generale mamma Bea con un obiettivo ben chiaro da conseguire.
Non posso raccontarvi molto altro, solo che Dean un motivo valido ce l’ha e una volta scoperto non potrete più fare a meno di amarlo.
In questo romanzo ho trovato passione e amore, odio e gelosia, amicizia e quel tocco di mistero legato alla figura di mister M.
Sia Lissy che Dean cresceranno moltissimo sotto i nostri sguardi attenti, imparando ad esprimere meglio i loro desideri, ascoltarsi e accettare il fatto che la fiducia tra due persone è un elemento fondamentale. Another hit for Melanie Marchande. A really funny, sexy book. No cliffhanger!
OK, I admit it, I’m in love with Melanie Marchande’s writing. Her books are snarky, witty, funny and sexy and The Absolutely True Story of Us is no exception.
Every time I read a new book from her I feel like I can hear her voice telling the story. No, I don’t know her, have never spoken to her, but I do follow her on Facebook and her books capture the same wit that I see in her FB posts. I sure hope she’s for real and not like her character Adrian in His Secretary (another great book you must read if you haven’t).
Ok, just a little about the book because her blurb for it at this point is a little sketchy. Felicity (Lissy as Dean calls her) has had some bad luck with men but she thought Dean was really *the one* – until she found out he lied to her. She ends up writing a book that she says is “based on a true story.” The book does well and somehow she ends up in a “sexting” relationship with a mysterious, snarky book reviewer named “M.”
This story made me laugh and cry and, for me, that is the best kind of story. I love books that make me feel like I’m in the story and this one really did that for me.
If you love Melanie’s other books you can’t miss this one. There are a couple of cameos by Adrian and Meg that are just great. If you’ve never read her other books in this series you don’t need to have read them to enjoy this one – but what are you waiting for!!??

What do you do when you are caught between two men, both of whom you hate? One is an ex, Dean, and the other is a book reviewer, M, who is a harsh critic of your work. This is the drama that is Felicity, AKA Lissy's life. After telling her family a little white lie, Dean has moved back in with her and she is not happy. M, is sexting her and even though she doesn't really like him, she is enjoying the back and forth. She is starting to have feelings for M, but Dean still holds a piece of her heart even though he broke it. There is a lot of trust issues in this book and I can see how all parties felt. There is a HEA at the end with no cliffhangers, even though this is part of a series each book has its own H/h and storyline. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Know what I like about Melanie Marchande’s books? Even when her heroines are having issues, they are always strong. And snarky. And vulnerable. But they always stand on their own two feet. Lissy and Dean have been broken up for a while but are “back together” only for show – her family is visiting and she wants them to think she is settled and happy. Let me say chaos ensues – and it is one wild ride. I really did like Dean, though, and would say I “sided” with him more so than Lissy. And Lissy’s BFF Jack was just enough of a troublemaker to always make me smile when he was in a scene. No worries; this story is sexy, in a twisted-mind kinda way.

I really enjoyed this book. It was romantic and had a bit of mystery because Lissy is texting a mystery man whose identity you don't know. It is the story of the relationship between exes Lissy and Dean and the relationship Lissy has with the mysterious man. What happens when you really look at the reasons behind a break up and find that maybe what you thought was the truth really wasn't.
I was pulled in from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. Very enjoyable read. I definitely recommend it.

This is my first book by Melanie Marchande and I have to say I did enjoy the story. The only thing I didn't like about the story was it didn't seem to flow very well. Of course that just MHO! I will be checking out her website and her other books. Will be looking forward to Jack's story! ;-)

Eccoci arrivate al sesto volume della Secretary Series, Tutto solo per amore.
La protagonista è Felicity – Lissy – Warden, scrittrice di romanzi rosa (così come gli altri protagonisti della serie), conosciuta in questo mondo come Lana De Vane, costretta a dover chiedere l’aiuto dell’ex fidanzato fedifrago poiché il suo libro – “basato su una storia vera”, ma veramente inventata – ha avuto un tale successo che tutti, ormai, vogliono conoscere Damien.
Peccato che Damien sia Dean, l’uomo al quale ha dato cinque anni della sua vita e che si è portato via come niente fosse, preferendo un’altra a lei.
Quando lo chiamai per chiedergli di aiutarmi con questo mio problemino, mi aspettavo quasi che dicesse che non poteva. Non avevo nessun motivo di credere che fosse single, ma lo era. Niente Jessica all’orizzonte. Non che le relazioni che nascono a causa di un’infedeltà tendano a durare molto, ma pensavo che ci fosse qualcuna. Questa storia mi manderà al manicomio. Devo sapere.
Questo è un lato della medaglia. L’altro è M.
M è un blogger che si diverte, attraverso acide recensioni, a distruggere i libri di Felicity e con il quale quest’ultima, inspiegabilmente, intrattiene una “relazione sessuale” virtuale.
M: Quattro mesi, Lana. Ogni giorno, per quattro mesi, ho passato una parte del mio tempo a pensare a come scioccarti. Sorprenderti. Darti piacere. E questo è il ringraziamento che ricevo.
Da una parte, Felicity si vede costretta a dover fingere di essere felice con Dean, soprattutto davanti agli occhi della famiglia; dall’altra non riesce a non pensare a come sarebbe permettere al virtuale di entrare nella sua quotidianità, per provare dal vivo le incredibili sensazioni che sente parlando con M.
Cosa succederà quando tutte le carte verranno scoperte e Jack – amico di Felicity, mandato in ricognizione – tornerà con una notizia sconvolgente?
«Sei cambiata, quel giorno», dice lui lentamente. «Non avrei mai pensato che saresti stata capace di odiarmi».
Lo fisso mentre mi si stringe la gola. «Non ti odiavo».
Tutto solo per amore è una novella molto breve che, in verità, non ho inquadrato perfettamente. Per i primi cinque capitoli il punto di vista è quello di Felicity, di cui sappiamo solo che ha i capelli castani, è la figlia di mezzo tra sei sorelle e fratelli e che è “cicciotta”. Dal quinto capitolo in poi, si alternano i Pov di Dean e Lissy, e la cosa mi ha leggermente confusa. Ho avuto come l’impressione che il libro sia nato per avere una certa struttura e che poi sia finito con l’essere un’accozzaglia di capitoli, spesso anche inutili. “De gustibus”.
Di Dean sappiamo che ha i capelli castano scuro, gli occhi grigio/argento e che lavora nel marketing. Anche qui, tutto il resto è fantasia. Onestamente non amo non riuscire a figurarmi i protagonisti, ma forse questo è un mio limite. Ancor meno si sa di M, come è ovvio debba essere, a parte che è un vero dominatore capace di far sciogliere Felicity con dei semplici sms. Fanno una breve comparsata Adrian Risinger e Meg, protagonisti assoluti della serie. Ma, per il resto, non ho altro da aggiungere.
È una novella, che non aggiunge nulla alla serie, ben scritta e dal tasso erotico elevato.

Recensione:
Questa autrice mi ha di nuovo colpito, in un modo o nell'altro riesce ad affascinare per gli spunti che inserisce nella trama. Di solito la prima cosa che colpisce è proprio l'inizio diretto e dal tono colloquiale con cui si rivolge al lettore. Dall'altro lato la pecca clamorosa che toglie molto al romanzo è la lunghezza della storia. Sono sempre troppo corte e si bruciano a velocità supersonica. Si inizia e dopo poco si è già alla fine e con questo certe situazione appaiono troppo affrettate o brusche. Vi dirò comunque che in questo romanzo lo stridore si avverte molto meno, ma c'erano così tanti spunti interessanti da approfondire che è stato un peccato. C'era modo di aumentare le scene spassose, gli equivoci, e soprattutto dare molto spazio a una serie di riflessioni psicologiche davvero molto interessanti che mi hanno colpito, mostrandomi quanto l'autrice in realtà sia sul pezzo ma poi preferisce lasciarli appena accennati. E vi garantisco che è un vero peccato perché l'autrice ha un modo di scrivere che cattura e invoglia a leggerla e al tempo stesso inserisce questi spunti particolari che avrebbero dato maggior spessore alla storia.
Mi è piaciuto il fatto che tutto è ambientato nel mondo letterario, ci offre uno spaccato di quello che succede a un autore quando pubblica il suo romanzo che diventa di dominio pubblico, soggetto a critiche e distruzioni. Affronta il tema delle vendite, del marketing... e stranamente non mi è dispiaciuta nemmeno la componente BDSM e tutta la riflessione di contorno su questo tema, anche qui è stata brava a incasellarlo e a mostrare quanto siano aspetti profondi dell'animo e non sempre si ha il coraggio di metterli alla luce.
Naturalmente lo scrittore non è i suoi personaggi, o i suoi libri, ma in questo caso sì. Avevano lo stesso nome. Era basato “su una storia vera”. Ero quasi sicuro al cento percento che non fosse così
Per me questa autrice dovrebbe imparare a osare di più perché in questi lunghi racconti si evince che la stoffa c'è!

Dall'altro lato la pecca clamorosa che toglie molto al romanzo è la lunghezza della storia. Sono sempre troppo corte e si bruciano a velocità supersonica. Si inizia e dopo poco si è già alla fine e con questo certe situazione appaiono troppo affrettate o brusche. Vi dirò comunque che in questo romanzo lo stridore si avverte molto meno, ma c'erano così tanti spunti interessanti da approfondire che è stato un peccato. C'era modo di aumentare le scene spassose, gli equivoci, e soprattutto dare molto spazio a una serie di riflessioni psicologiche davvero molto interessanti che mi hanno colpito, mostrandomi quanto l'autrice in realtà sia sul pezzo ma poi preferisce lasciarli appena accennati. E vi garantisco che è un vero peccato perché l'autrice ha un modo di scrivere che cattura e invoglia a leggerla e al tempo stesso inserisce questi spunti particolari che avrebbero dato maggior spessore alla storia.
Mi è piaciuto il fatto che tutto è ambientato nel mondo letterario, ci offre uno spaccato di quello che succede a un autore quando pubblica il suo romanzo che diventa di dominio pubblico, soggetto a critiche e distruzioni. Affronta il tema delle vendite, del marketing... e stranamente non mi è dispiaciuta nemmeno la componente BDSM e tutta la riflessione di contorno su questo tema, anche qui è stata brava a incasellarlo e a mostrare quanto siano aspetti profondi dell'animo e non sempre si ha il coraggio di metterli alla luce.
Naturalmente lo scrittore non è i suoi personaggi, o i suoi libri, ma in questo caso sì. Avevano lo stesso nome. Era basato “su una storia vera”. Ero quasi sicuro al cento percento che non fosse così
Per me questa autrice dovrebbe imparare a osare di più perché in questi lunghi racconti si evince che la stoffa c'è!

Davvero una novella riuscita questa nuova opera di Melanie, che ha saputo tenermi incollata al lettore e qualche volta mi ha fatto trattenere il fiato.
Come per gli altri protagonisti della serie, la protagonista Felicity è una scrittrice di romanzi rosa che si muove nello stesso ambiente degli altri protagonisti, infatti vedremo un’apparizione veloce dei nostri beniamini Adrian e Meg.
Oltre all’universo in cui è ambientata la storia, c’è un altro elemento che accomuna questa storia a quella degli altri libri, e cioè anche qui lo scrittore protagonista ha mentito su qualcosa riguardo i suoi libri.
In questo caso Felicity ha mentito dicendo che la storia del suo romanzo è ispirata a fatti veramente accaduti, e a quanto pare ci hanno creduto tutti, ma proprio tutti, compresa la sua famiglia.
Per questo si è vista costretta a chiedere al suo ex, Dean, di fare finta di essere la persona che ha ispirato il suo protagonista maschile, e di fingere quindi di essere il suo compagno.
Come se la storia non fosse già complicata così, nel frattempo la protagonista ha allacciato una relazione virtuale con misterioso blogger che si diverte a demolire i romanzi rosa, compreso il suo.
Non sarà facile per Felicity barcamenarsi tra le sensazioni che le fa provare il suo compagno di chat e i sentimenti contrastanti che sente ancora per il suo ex, il tutto mentre fa credere alla propria famiglia di essere serena, innamorata e felice.

Lissy is trying to make a living as a writer. All thru college she never realized just how hard it would be. When she cooks up a plan after a discussion with her best guy friend Jack she comes up with the perfect story-line. The story of her "based on a true story" love with the perfect guy. Too bad he doesn't really exist.
She is beyond shocked when not only does her book become a best seller but the public wants to meet this "perfect" man. With no other option she involved her ex-boyfriend in her deception. She hates him after he cheated on her. So no problem... right?
Dean has no idea why he agreed to help Lissy. She was the only woman he had ever loved and her trust issues were what ruined them. Thinking that he might just get the closure he needed he decided to ride it out, even if that meant dealing with her family.
Add in her strange relationship with the book reviewer known as M and things can't get more complicated. Lissy has no idea who this man really is, only that he makes her feel things that she never experienced before. Whats the harm in flirting with a man via text. It's not like they will ever meet in person.
This is the second book I have read by this author and have yet to be disappointed. I love the way Melanie Marchande makes you feel like your there watching from a front row seat. There were parts that made me laugh. I was pretty happy so see some of the characters from His Secretary Undone as well.
Lissy was spunky one minute and shy and unsure the next. Especially where her family was concerned. Dean was a contradiction. There was this whole persona that he let people see but hid what was really there inside him. I fell in love with him when he found his inner Dom. Hot!

I did have a little trouble getting into the story at the beginning as I tried to understand the situation. This book is kinda different from the 1st book in this series which I have read. The writing is witty and funny with some twist and turns in the plot.
Lizzy is a romance author with trust issues. After a writing slump, she had an epiphany and ended her writing slump with a book titled Based On A True Story. The book became a hit after it was published and because it was supposedly based on a true story, she turned to her best friend Jack for help. And when he refused, she had no choice but to ask ex boyfriend Dean. Dean agreed as a favor to Lizzy since he felt guilty at the way their relationship ended. Dean temporarily moves in with Lizzy to portray as the loving boyfriend for fans and for Lizzy's parents who were visiting.
To understand Lizzy better, Dean reads the book and makes his way to get through to Lizzy.
I definitely enjoyed this read and Melanie wrote it in such an interesting way that I never saw it coming. I really enjoyed the sexting and it was such a contrast to Lizzy's daily life. The way the story's written and the plot is also such an interesting contrast to the rest of the books I've read to date and for that I applaud Melanie for her effort. I look forward to checking the rest of her books out.

Once I started reading this story, I just could not stop until I reached the end. Melanie Marchande has such a way with words that they just draw you in and keep you turning the pages.
Felicity writes under a pen name, she wrote a very successful story that was supposed to be ‘based on a true story’, except it really wasn’t. When her parents come to visit her, they want to meet her love interest, whom the story is about, Dean. What they don’t know is that she broke up with him because she believed he cheated on her. She asks him a huge favor, to move in with her to make it appear as if they are still together…he agrees. At the same time, she is texting with a book reviewer just known by M, whom was very harsh in reviewing her work. The barbs back and forth between are to die for and just wait until they get a bit steamy.
Now she feels stuck between two men, Dean because there was no closure to the way they ended and she may still have feelings for him…and M who makes her feel alive, like she could do anything, sexting is so sexy in this story.
The story culminates with some truths coming out, but I won’t go into them as it would give away too much of the storyline. I felt like I could hear the author narrating the story, felt all the emotions between the characters, I got lost in their world. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book, you will love it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. When I got this book I had very little clue what it was about. However when I started this book I could not put it down.
In this book we meet Lizzy and Dean, Lizzy and Dean are ex's that are forced to live in the same space due to a book she wrote saying that it was based on a true story. The problem was that it wasn't there were parts that sort of resemble Dean and parts that sort of resemble Lizzy but they were never suppose to be the real life characters.
Lizzy has been hurt in her past by a previous relationship, Dean is aware of this but still does something that eventually breaks them up. After writing this book Lizzy's parents, and siblings think this is true and think that she has finally found the man of her dreams to bad it is based on a lie. Dean knows what he did to Lizzy hurt her but that wasn't his intent (you have to read the story to find out what was). I having her ex living with her wasn't bad enough , her parents are in town to check out her relationship, as well as she is having a texting affair with a man she has never met refers to himself as M.
This story has man twists and turns to it. You will never truly know who M is till almost the very end. You also won't know what Dean did and how he plans on fixing it. This book is amazing I could not put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Again a Master of storytelling, weaves a tale of intrigue and sexiness for her readers to appreciate. M and (Felicity) Lizzy are contemporaries in the literary community or are they? Lizzy tells her story of how her second novel comes into being. She shares with us her thought process to creating her latest book. Her nemesis is a critic that she has never met "M". He fuels her life. However, when she finally meets him she is abit surprised...I know I was.
Her parents decide to come and see their daughter and fill in the blanks of her "based on a true story" book. She reaches into her past and asks her ex- boyfriend Dean to help her with her parents. She tries to juggle her current lifestyle and what her parents think they actually see. Her book convention helps her to cross paths with Natalie and Adrian from "His Secretary: Undone". It was funny to see them continuing their antics as a couple.
Dean and Lizzie discover their past is still unsettled and enjoy each other in ways not previously ventured into. Its a hoot how the Fetish party plays the both of them.
I liked this story, Ms. Marchande, you have an avid fan that will continue to support your work...Keep the good stuff coming.

The Absolutely True Story of Us is another fun read by Melanie Marchande. There is sense of humor and lovely hotness found through out the book. The story line kept me reading the entire book in one sitting, totally engrossed.
So the crux of the story is that Lissy is new author who has hit it big. She has written her books in such a way that she needs to have a sexy hot man that she is “with”. Her best friend Jack won’t help at all with her deception. So she asks her ex Dean, who ends up helping out. Pretending with her ex that they are ‘truly in love’ is just ripe for problems. Lissy somehow manages to get into funny situations. She just doesn’t manage to ever come totally clean so things get confusing. I laughed out loud at a couple of situations. There are some seriously hot scenes!
Melanie Marchande newest book soon to be released is The Absolutely True Story of Us. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to read her books as ARC novels, because I can’t wait for the next one!!! Get It! Read It!

Felicity Warden was a writer and she lied about her last book. It wasn’t based on a true story. Dean was Lissy ex- boyfriend. She didn’t trust him and he left. But now she needed Dean because of the lie her family believed was true and he accepted to help her. She was so distress with the situation and there was a rash reviewer of her books, Mr. M. What began as fun was now a need for her.
The story kept me guessing all the time. I was looking for clues about Mr. M and the role of Dean in Lissy’s life. Was or not true the cheating? I laughed with the secondary characters. Jack, the best friend, and felicity mother were a pair. I cried with Lissy’s insecurities and self-inflicted pain. So many emotions.
Really enjoyed this book. Has an interesting plot, good dialogs, good secondary characters and lot of sex and suggestive images with Mr. M. As with His Secretary Undone, Melanie Marchande caught my total attention. Love the stories that keep me thinking during the reading. Very good author.
