Spice factor: 5 stars. Kemo does not play around — the scenes are vivid, detailed, and absolutely knew what they were doing. I was sweating. Respectfully.
Going in, I was a little worried it might be all spice and no story. The first 40% definitely leans hard into the heat andoves fast, and I did feel like I had some unanswered questions that got skipped over — which honestly could’ve taken the world-building and character depth to the next level. Especially since this is the human world with wolves involved… I wanted more lore. Feed me the details.😅
BUT then… around the 40% mark? The story said “hold my drink” and completely shifted gears. The last 60% was addictive. Suddenly there’s real character development, emotional depth, and actual feelings (my weakness). It felt like a whole new writing era and I loved it.
And that cliffhanger?! RUDE. DISRESPECTFUL. I need the next book immediately — not tomorrow, not soon, now.😈🖤
I’m fully invested, emotionally attached, and ready to spiral while I wait to see what happens next. If you like your books spicy this one delivers.🥵
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is not really a book, in my opinion. It seems more like an idea for a plot written hurriedly.
There are massive plot holes and plotlines that contradict each other. For example, on one page we’re told she’s a virgin, and then literally two pages later she says she’s not.
Mild spoiler ahead:
At 12% of the book, we magically find out that more than seven years have passed; she ran away, had a child that she gave up for adoption, has been stalked and tormented by the MMC, and that he killed a guy who flirted with her. All of this information is dumped within the span of three pages.
Oh and she also dyed her hair green to blend in so he wouldn’t find her. Make it make sense, please.
While the main storyline is well conceived, the pacing occasionally feels rushed due to gaps in the narrative timeline. Certain transitions between major events would benefit from additional development, as the lack of “filler” or connective scenes can make character growth and plot progression feel abrupt.
Overall, this book has a promising narrative foundation. With more detailed timeline development to bridge key plot points this would be a great read. As it stands, the work is engaging and imaginative, and with further refinement, it has the potential to become a truly immersive and memorable read.
I was barely that far in when I physically could not force myself to keep reading. This book made me cringe internally, and my eyes were burning from the pain. The fmc is terrible, and she keeps going on about how she can't resist Alpha Rafael even though he's literally trying to torture her. Like wtf. Already within the first 25 pages, they're both thinking about each other a lot and want to go see the other person. This is another level of fast paced for the first book in a series. Starting with so much and explanations later was so confusing. I couldn't read this.
I DNFed this book at page 86/286. I was mostly missing world- and character building. Normally I love fantasy and wolf smut but in the Wolf's Hated Bride there is too much smut and too little story. The main character lacks a good backstory but worse: she completely lacks common sense. This makes it hard to feel bad, or glad, for her. If you are just reading for the smut this could be the book for you, but it wasn't it for me.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. It started on a spicy note. It had so much potential. All of a sudden 7 years have passed...what!!?? WTF How did she escape?? Where did she go? Did he chase her down? I am so frigging confused. She has been flirting with someone else??? Whhhaaattt? I have just missed 7 years of story that I want to read!!! I could not bring myself to continue reading it. I very rarely DNF a book. I'm stubborn. This one I could not finish.
I received an ARC copy via Sirenbooks. I really tried to give this book a chance, but I ended up DNFing it. It was poorly written with no world building, no real plot and a confusing storyline. I love fantasy and dark romance, but this just wasn't it for me.
