Romancing the Butch is my second read by Elizabeth Andre. Her novels are well written, cleanly edited, and easy to read. This novel provided some laugh-out-loud moments and featured genuine, interesting, and diverse characters. This one-night-to-forever romance between opposites was low in angst and maintained an even pace. There were a couple of side plots that I enjoyed.
I did not feel any chemistry between Shelby and Hannah. They didn't spend a lot of time together on the page, and the sole sex scene was closed-door and recounted after the fact rather than shown. I could not relate to either character (maybe a me thing), although I really liked Shelby. I think that the even pacing and low level of angst also contributed to my lack of investment. It is a quick and easy read, not bad, just not very memorable.
The epilogue is not related to the current story. It sets up the next book, which takes place in the same location.
I am giving this one 3.5 stars, rounded down.

I received a review copy from the author. This is my honest opinion.

A romantic comedy. The first intimate scene happens off page. That is a deliberate ploy by the writer, I think, so we don’t get a handle on the mains or their relationship. My favourite intimate scenes are the ones where we learn more about the mains, we see them at their most open and vulnerable (often, not always but even then we usually see their internal vulnerability although they are choosing not to share that with the other main at that point…… anyway I digress, again!)
Just over half way and I feel I haven’t got a handle on either the attraction or either main. I have not gelled with this. There are a lot of named characters who only have a walk on role. I think being among so many names, followed by one sentence bio’s, coupled with not feeling I am particularly understanding one of the main/secondary character dynamics. Bits have been shown, we know the groom protected one main from bullies….. but…. I’m just not feeling I’m getting much. Which means the back and forth…. Is she interested or not, gets a bit irksome. 80% in and I’m not sure where the romancing the butch in the title comes from. To be honest, there is some silly stuff that nearly had me smiling but I am assuming the com part in rom com just means no to low angst.
I do not get the significance of the hat….. I really hope there is some explanation! There wasn’t!

This book was so cute! If you’re looking for a sweet sapphic romance to escape into and put you in a good mood then look no further. Romancing the Butch is a low angst interracial romcom that centers around a Las Vegas wedding party. Our main love interests Shelby and Hannah meet three months before the wedding trip during a dinner date with the newly engaged couple Zack and Whitney. Shelby is Zack’s best friend and soon to be best woman. Hannah is Whitney’s best friend and soon to be maid of honor. Hannah is entranced by Shelby’s brilliant blue eyes but can hardly get a glimpse of them because Shelby is always wearing a hat and looking down. Shelby is shy and there isn’t much conversation between the two during this first meeting.

Three months later they are on this wedding trip together and that’s when they really get to know more about each other. I would consider this a whirlwind romance as the trip is only Thursday through Sunday but the way Elizabeth Andre writes makes it feel more like a slow burn. There were some comical and cringey moments with other wedding guests and captivating side characters that made this a well rounded story and held my interest. This is a sweet romance with a closed door sex scene. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a low angst feel good romcom. Thank you Elizabeth Andre for the ARC!

A very sweet romantic comedy featuring two women who both think they are not meant to find lasting love. An oblivious butch handywoman and a femme social media manager are so clueless about not only each other's intentions, but also their own.

After a very unsuccessful set up by their best friends does nothing to dissuade them, they go their separate ways until they meet up again in Vegas where they are needed for duties as maid of honor and best woman. To see the progress they take during the wedding weekend, both interpersonally, and individually is lovely. Shelly, our oblivious butch, is shown just how many women are flirting with her, and she finally starts to see it. Hannah, our social femme, who decided to take the weekend to set up several dates, soon realizes that none of those dates quite measures up to relationship material.

There are also several subplots running alongside the main romance and the wedding that facilitates it, which make the whole book that much more enjoyable, funny, and occasionally, hurtful. I must say that I absolutely love the Wonder Woman cabbie, and would love to see the whole group, maybe minus TNT, for another wedding in the future. Definitely grab this is you want laughs, romance, a bit of intrigue, and of course, some useless lesbianing.

Romancing the Butch is a fast-paced, sweet, and funny read.

Hannah and Shelby's friends are convinced that they will be a great match for each other. Their first meeting however doesn't seem promising, and only reinforces the belief Hannah had that their friends are only matchmaking them, because they're both lesbians. The meeting was awkward at best, especially after finding out how different they are from each other.

But Vegas and wedding preparations gave them a second chance at getting to know each other, which went much better than the first one. Now they just have to figure out how to proceed forward. And maybe how to communicate with each other.

The story though quick, was engaging and funny. It was packed with action and laughter, but also had a great dose of sweetness and reflections. The characters are likeable (at least the ones that are supposed to be liked), and the chemistry between MCs is visible. The plot was interesting, and the writing easy to read.

If you're looking for a quick read with low angst, opposites attract, Vegas vibe, then I would definitely recommend to give this book a chance.

Big thank you to the author for giving me an opportunity to read this story. I had a great time.

Hannah is Whitney’s best friend, and at her forthcoming wedding to Zack, Hannah will be her maid of honour. She is looking forward to her friend’s wedding, but Whitney and Zack are trying to matchmake between her and Shelby, which Hannah doesn’t like. Zack’s butch best friend Shelby will be his best woman for the wedding, and when they all arrive in Vegas a few days beforehand, things start between Hannah and Shelby.
There is a very authentic lesbian feel to many of the scenes, but also sometimes a little stilted and difficult to follow. In many places this is a very funny story, like a sitcom (for example the taxi rides and the events at the reception), with some good wordplay (‘lesbianic fun’ - a wonderful word choice!) but overall it’s not a deep or really warm romance. Both main characters are written really well, and I found Shelby so cute, with her shy attitude and cluelessness as to how many women have been flirting with her. Most of the side characters are also good, especially Zack’s obvious adoration for Whitney, and Olly’s unexpected gay romance happening in the background.
A good read with low angst, laughs, and fun.

Romance the Butch by Elizabeth Andre was such a fun, fast-paced, and genuinely cute read.
Thank you to the author for gifting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Shelby and Hannah were an absolute joy to watch fall in love. They meet just three months before their best friends’ wedding after said best friends attempt to play matchmaker (as best friends should). What starts as a setup turns into something way more when the wedding ends up being in Vegas… and well, what happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas…
One night at a club quickly turns into something much bigger, and I loved how effortlessly their connection unfolded. The pacing was quick without feeling rushed, the romance was sweet and satisfying, and the chemistry between Shelby and Hannah made it impossible not to root for them.
This was a really enjoyable sapphic romance that left me smiling, and I’ll absolutely be keeping an eye out for more from Elizabeth Andre.
Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a light, romantic, Vegas-style “one night leads to forever” love story

💖✨ Sapphic rom-com lovers, this one is for YOU ✨💖
A capable, quiet butch. A talkative, unhinged femme. One disastrous first date… and then BAM 💥 Las Vegas wedding weekend chaos. Tell me that’s not a setup made for falling in love 😭💍
Hannah and Shelby are total opposites like camping vs. social media opposites but watching them slowly realize that their differences might actually be the spark?? O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D. The banter is cute, the moments are tender, and the vibes are cozy!! It brings just the right amount of lol energy.

This is a sweet, closed door romance that still delivers all the feels: food scenes, soft butch competence, messy femme energy, and that “wait… am I catching feelings??” realization 😳 that sneaks up on you when you’re not looking. 💕

Standout cover and great title. The prologue introduces us to the meeting of the 4 main characters in time for the Los Vegas wedding in 3 months time. We meet a greatbunch of friends
Great introduction  to officiate Madame Sinjin. Loved the female Elvis impersonator idea
What do two lesbians do at a straight wedding in Los Vegas? Yes,  escape to a local lesbian bar.
This is a tale of picking up a shy, naieve, introverted butch at a wedding in Vegas. Great reading with low angst and a smile

This is the first book I read about this series and I absolutely love it! There are so many characters in the book but the main couple stood out and are very impressive! The story happened over a few days in a wedding party in Las Vegas, with a few dramas and one night stand to forever love weaved seamlessly, an addictive wild and sweet sapphic romance that I just can't get enough! Love the shy and cute Butch and her adorable femme, such a sweet couple!

“Romancing the Butch” is a lovable romance from Elizabeth Andre. Take two opposites, make them Best Woman and Maid of Honor to their straight best friends, mix them all together and you have Hannah and Shelby in Las Vegas for the nuptials. This is a quick read laced with humor and some crazy secondary characters. Hannah and Shelby aren’t impressed with each other when they meet. Hannah, the extroverted femme, has several preconceived notions about Shelby, the shy butch woman with downcast eyes hiding behind her hat. Both women end up doing some soul searching. You’ll enjoy Shelby’s epiphanies about herself—they’re funny. If you’re a fellow introvert you will nod your head in solidarity.

🥹 hesitation

Hannah and Shelby never thought they were dust in the pine love. He found something else at Whitney‘s wedding. There was many doubts between Hannah and Shelby as the weather they were suited for each other. I found the plot very good and the characters exceptional. This is a very good story, and I recommend it to all romance readers.

This book was a really good one, its a will they wont they get together from the start.

Hannah is a femme, atheltic lesbian and Shelby is a masc, shy, american football mad and loves to camp.

These 2 are opposite attracts and meet when their bet friends are getting married.

It will make you laugh and think come on get together already!

I would read this again!
