Hard fought romance thriller

After losing his family to interlopers, Ice Dragon king Dracario seeks revenge by forcibly taking their oversee’s daughter’s hand in marriage and to use her for nothing more than a means to bear further children. But she does not take his cold attitude lightly and soon his vengeance morphs into something far different than what he had expected.

An engaging read from start to finish, which says a lot coming from someone who doesn’t typically venture into the realms of high(ish) fantasy. Highly recommend

Very entertaining. I just wish I knew this ended on a cliffhanger. I truly thought it was a standalone.

I've been a fan of this author since running across the first book in her first book series, Demon Reign, and she just keeps getting better and better. This book, To Melt A Dragon's Heart, is the best one yet.

It starts out with a tragedy when greedy human King Erith sends his men to steal sapphires from Ice Dragon King Dracario's land, and winds up killing his mate and all four of his four unhatched heirs. Dracario, in grief and rage, kills King Erith's Queen and his legitimate daughters. To save his own life, and to assuage Dracario's rage, King Erith gives his unwanted illegitimate daughter, priestess Aisha, to the dragon King to do with as he wishes.

Dracario wishes the king to suffer, and the target of his rage and pain is Aisha. In the beginning, he hates her for what her father has done, and plans to force her to replace the heirs he has lost. For her part, Aisha fears and eventually hates him for what he does to her in his misplaced rage-fueled retaliation.

The story really begins when they each decide that they've been wrong about some of their assumptions, that maybe their real enemy isn't who they think it is, and that maybe they can each melt and heal each other's wounded hearts.

The priestess Aisha listens to her visions. King Dracario listens to his top advisor and brother Roe and the soul of his slain dragon Queen. Without giving away spoilers, each also listen to their hearts as their animosity slowly melts and love begins to grow, and their hearts' desires begin to be be fulfilled.

But danger lurks everywhere. King Erith wants revenge and his only remaining bargaining chip back. And Dracario has his own enemies. The question will be, who is the stronger: Dracario and his allies and his new Queen Aisha, or the forces that try to pull the lovers and their lives apart. We find out when the next book in the series continues.....

The drama in this book is spellbinding, the plot and action well paced, and the secondary characters well written. But I have to add that I loved the perfectly-timed humor as well. If I had a tail, I'd wag it and thump it against the ice in applause too. 😉🐲

So I read the authors first book and fell in love so I got curious and found her latest book to see if she got better.
Yes, yes she did.
This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions. Firstly, it has the lost Lenore trope. If that's not your cup of tea then pass this book up because it goes on for a while.
I really didn't like Dracario at first, I really wanted to punch him in the face.
By the end of the book, I sat there, staring off into space, and well, the next day I picked it back up. I did a complete re-read and you know, I don't hate Dracario as much. There is some inner monologue I may have missed that I caught on my first read that made me realize how bad he was hurting. This was real. Have you ever just hated something so much or had something so bad happen that you take it out on the rest of the world? What happens to him is exactly how villains are made. And he is that villain in the beginning. He's horrible. It's how they hold on to that one thing until it's destroying them and everything around them until that one thing forces them to look at themselves. To see the monster they have become.
And then Aisha. What she goes through. After everything, she decides to open her heart. The book was filled with humor, darkness, and tragedy. On my second read through I wanted to pet him and call him a good dragon.
And now the ending...
Let's just say I stalked the authors FB page and it was stated that book 2 should be out in May or June 2026.

It better be because this wait is killing me!
5 stars all the way. I'd give it six if I could

By far the best book this author has written, which is saying something because I adore her demon series.
I fell in love with the world this author built. Unlike so many books with dragons in them, she gave the dragons a rich culture full of life. It was such a refreshing take on dragons. The world felt like there was so much life to it, I didn't want to leave. So many fantasy creatures were thrown in.
Even with all the world building, there weren't any major info dumps that made the story slump. You got just the right amount of information.
This was a true enemies to lovers romance with a very slow burn. It took time for the characters to let go and fall for each other. I wanted to dislike Dracario, the ice dragon king but couldn't. While reading you feel his pain and understand him. Aisha was a great FMC that didn't feel like a Mary Sue and didn't fit the role of the average fantasy FMC. Not overly powerful but not a push over.
The banter with the characters was by far the best part. I laughed out loud a few times at some of the things the characters said. When the book was finished, I was left with my jaw dropped and a yearning to jump into book 2 so that I can go back to that world with characters I had fallen in love with.

Imagine a world where there are eight dragon species and eight dragon kingdoms. The main kingdom in this book is Winters Crest the ice dragon kingdom.
The coolest part of this entire book to me were the dragons themselves. I've never read books with so many dragon species before. They had fire, ice, water, forest, sun, moon, gemstone and even acid! The sun and moon dragons have a type of light beam they shoot out. I imagine it's like godzilla lol. The acid dragons actually breathe acid!! And gemstone dragons have a gem cloud! It was just so cool!
And I am a sucker for enemies to lovers! This was done so well. So many books miss the mark and when they do make them good enemies it's hard to root for them to be together
Not on this one
You understood both characters. The tension just builds and builds. It was a great romance story.
I've read all books from this author and typically she has MM scenes so I was a bit sad to find out there are none in this book, but there was still LGBT rep and as a gay man I love that!
This was such a wonderful story and that ending. Omfg that ending. I will be waiting not so patiently for book 2

He is devastated that his dragon wife and their unhatched eggs were murdered. He wants revenge. So he murders the human king's wife and daughters. Except his illegitimate bastard daughter he takes to be his new wife.

I understand he wanted revenge. But forcing his enemy's daughter to bear his children made it seem like he wasn't mourning his murdered wife.

She is happier spending time with the hero's brother. He is nicer to her. The hero even offers her to his brother as a mate instead. His brother says no, he is in love with someone else. So for a while I thought she was going to end up with the brother.

Then the mating ceremony everyone watches her have sex publicly with him. His brother also watches her, and is a witness to their mating.

I just felt a connection between her and the brother. I honestly thought they would end up together.

The book just didn't grab me.

I saw this book recommended in a monster group im in and realized I binged the authors demon series.
This book was a friggin roller coaster! I thought I was going to hate Dracario. I'm not going to lie, I almost DNF'd but I pushed myself through. Once I got past the cave scene it started turning itself around. Don't get me wrong, the book was really good. I liked Aisha and really liked Roe, but I was so mad at Dracario! Once the fire festival came up, everything changed. And I was kicking my feet laughing at that part.
The entire book has great banter. Another part I cracked up at was when she finds out what his horns are for.
The enemies to lovers was so well played that I had to give this a five star. Like most will hate Dracario at first, but I promise, before you DNF because you're mad at him, give it until the fire festival.

loved it …

This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and it had me hooked from the first page. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good fantasy dragon romance. The story flowed and is well written, the world building gave us an insight into the world we’d been transported to. It was a brilliant read and I’m just off to go get the next in the series. I really need to know what happens next. No spoilers though you should read it to find out.

Heart melting romance fantasy

2nd dragon book on the bounce. This one had a lot of depth. Dracario didn't expect the marriage to provide anything other than the children but even the coldest of hearts can succumb as we know if your a romance fan. I'm very much into the dragon culture now and this one is highly recommended for those with similar tastes.
