Raffaele Mauriello is an assistant professor on the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages, Allameh Tabataba’i University, Tehran (Iran), and an adjunct professor at the master’s program in Geopolitics and Global Security at the Sapienza, University of Rome. Previously, he was a postdoctoral research fellow on the Faculty of World Studies, University of Tehran (2015–2017). He received a PhD in Islamic Civilization: History and Philology (2009) from the Sapienza, University of Rome. Dr. Mauriello is a historian and linguist, specializing in International Relations, Islam, Iran, Asia, and the Hispanic World. He is the co-founder of Co-IRIS (International Relations and Islamic Studies Research Cohort) and serves as an editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Islam in Asia (BRILL), and an editor for the book series Islam and International Relations (Gerlach Press) and Islam and Global Studies (Palgrave Macmillan). In 2013, he was awarded the World Prize for the Book of the Year of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of Islamic Studies for his monograph Descendants of the Family of the Prophet in Contemporary History: A Case Study, the Šī‘ī Religious Establishment of al-Nağaf (Iraq). Dr. Mauriello is a regular commentator on international affairs on television (BBC, HispanTV, PressTV, RussiaToday) and radio (Radio3Mondo, RSI, Radio24, RadioCusanoCampus, RNE).

دکتر رافائل مائوریلو، پژوهشگر شیعهشناس ایتالیایی، مورخ و متخصص در زمینه اسلام شیعی معاصر، روابط بین المللی و جغرافیای سیاسی ، تحلیل گر مسائل خاورمیانه و نیز زبانشناس و مترجم است. او غیر از زبان مادری (ایتالیایی) به زبانهای فارسی، عربی، انگلیسی، اسپانیایی و فرانسه تسلط دارد. در سال ۲۰۰۲ به کسب درجه ممتاز در زبانها و تمدن های شرقی نائل شد و در سال ۲۰۰۹ مدرک دکتری تخصصی خویش را با عنوان تمدن اسلامی: تاریخ و زبانشناسی از دانشگاه "لا ساپینزا"، رم، دریافت نمود. در آنجا، تحت نظر پروفسور بیانکاماریا اسکارچا امورتی، دانشمند اسلامشناس شهیر ایتالیایی، مطالعه و پژوهش نمود. وی یکی از پایه گذاران گروه پژوهشی روابط بین الملل و علوم اسلامی است (coiris.org). اکنون، دکتر مائوریلو در دانشکده مطالعات جهان دانشگاه تهران و نیز در دانشکده ادبیات فارسی و زبان های خارجی دانشگاه علامه طباطبایی مشغول به کار است.
در سال 1391 (2013) جایزه کتاب سال جمهوری اسلامی ایران در بخش بینالملل در زمینه مطالعات اسلامی را با کتابی تحت عنوان "اَعقابِ خاندانِ پیامبر در تاریخِ معاصر(ساداتِ صاحبانِ نفوذِ دینیِ شیعۀ ساکنانِ نجف اشرف)" دریافت نمود.

Islamista e iranista, laureato in Lingue e Civiltà Orientali all'Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza", ha conseguito il Dottorato di ricerca in Civiltà Islamica: Storia e Filologia presso la stessa università. Si occupa di storia contemporanea dell’Islam sciita e di geopolitica. I suoi saggi sono stati pubblicati in riviste internazionali quali Iranian Review of Foreign Affairs, Outre-terre: Revue européenne de géopolitique, Rivista di Politica, e Limes: rivista italiana di geopolitica e in volumi editi da Routledge, Edinburgh University Press, Palgrave, e l’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani. Nel 2013, gli è stato conferito il Premio Mondiale del Libro dell’Anno della Repubblica Islamica dell’Iran per la monografia Descendants of the Family of the Prophet in Contemporary History: A Case Study, the Šīʻī Religious Establishment of al-Naǧaf (Iraq) (Pisa-Roma 2011). È co-fondatore dell’International Relations (IR) and Islamic Studies (IS) Research Cohort (CoIRIS), un gruppo internazionale di studiosi interessati nell’avanzamento di studi comparati fra le Relazioni Internazionali e gli Studi Islamici.
